So, let's talk about polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and why understanding it is crucial for women's fertility and health… Did you know that 1 in 10 women of reproductive age are affected by polycystic ovarian syndrome? Commonly known as PCOS, this condition that involves hormone imbalances disrupts ovulation, leads to insulin resistance, and can increase risks of miscarriage and pregnancy complications. It affects a lot of women, and yet, many still don't understand how and why it's a problem that needs intervention. That's why in this episode, we'll break down the facts about PCOS, debunk myths, and explore treatment options to help women take control. Whether you're dealing with irregular periods, weight gain, or fertility struggles, tune in and learn how you can help someone you care about on the path to better well-being and fertility. Why you need to check this episode: - Understand how PCOS impacts 1 in 10 women of reproductive age, influencing hormone balance, ovulation, and overall fertility; - Discover the link between insulin resistance, chronic inflammation, and elevated androgen levels that exacerbate PCOS symptoms; - Recognize the importance of early diagnosis through lab work, hormone tracking, and ultrasounds to identify irregularities and improve outcomes; - Learn about lifestyle strategies like weight management, stress reduction, and avoiding environmental toxins to mitigate PCOS symptoms; and - Explore medical treatments, including ovulation-inducing medications like Clomid and Letrozole, to support fertility and symptom management. “Definitely, [there's] some options there. So, it is not a dead-end street when talking about PCOS, when talking about fertility. But the problem is that a lot of people don't know where the road is, and you won't know where the road is unless you're driving, right? So, what have you got to do? You got to drive to the doctor's office. You got to ask the appropriate questions and be able to be open with your doctor if they ask you, hopefully, appropriate questions, so you can give appropriate answers.” – Dr. Berry Pierre Notable Quotes: “One in 10 women of reproductive age are affected by PCOS…So, this isn't like a disease that very few people get. This disease affects a lot of women.” – Dr. Berry Pierre “One of the things I do, especially when I was teaching my students, or with medical residents, I say, we don't order tests because we're hoping for an answer and then we'll kind of figure out our diagnosis. We're ordering a test…to confirm our diagnosis, which is a different ballgame. I'm not just willy-nilly ordering a test just to order it. I'm ordering that test because I assume you have this problem and I want to confirm if it's true with the results.” – Dr. Berry Pierre Mentions: The Myths of Fertility in Men Sign up at www.listentodrberry.com to join the mailing list. Soybean cyst nematode is the number one robber of soybean yield in fields across Ontario. In many instances, growers don’t realize the pest is impacting yield because the damage is done underground as parasitic nematodes feed and reproduce on soybean roots and interfere with the plant’s uptake of water and nutrients. Click here to send me a quick message :) Last week I had some discomfort "down there." I felt a slight tinge of pain when I walked, and a little itchiness, and it felt like something was growing on my vulva.I took a mirror and a headlamp and checked it out. (Yes, you can do that too. If you've never looked at your vulva, please do. It's a treasure.)What I found was a little red stretched pea size lump inside my inner labia. It was by all signs a Bartholin's cyst. It's something I've heard about enough to basically identify it immediately. It's not rare, so maybe you've had one too.But I think perhaps I'd been ignoring it (had a lot going on) and it was getting inflamed and maybe even heading towards infection (the redness and itching and pain got me curious). So I immediately took action and made myself a strong tea of gotu kola, yarrow, calendula, lavender and rose, which I then applied warm as a compress.I did this for a couple days, and then it drained. It reminded me of how easy herbal medicine can be. And also inspired me to share an entire episode all about this topic since I think it's the kind of thing we should all know how to do, and how to choose which herbs make sense for our specific condition. Herbal baths, sitz bath and herbal compresses are one of the most accessible ways to extract the active constituents from herbs - all you need are herbs, water and something to heat the water with. But they're also very effective. Sometimes what we really need is to bathe a part of our body in warm herbal tea. And especially when it comes our vulva and pelvis, it's also an incredibly beautiful way to honor this precious place.Listen to learn:what herbal baths, sitz baths and herbal compresses arehow to make these preparationswhy I chose the herbs I did for my Bartholin's cystwhat conditions may be best supported by herbal baths + compresseswhich actions you may want to consider when choosing herbshow to determine which herbs to choose for you unique symptomsResources:Free Natural Cycle Tracking (FAM) guideToday's shownotes: Herbal baths, sitz baths, compressesEpisode 12: Simple + sacred practice of making teaEpisode 25: Immediate postpartum care w herbs w Liz PhilbrickEpisode 82: Herbal vinegars, oxygens + shrubsIf you loved this episode, share it with a friend, or take a screenshot and share on social media and tag me @herbalwombwisdom. This AI-driven incidental findings program identifies and then monitors pancreatic abnormalities to improve the quality of care to patients who are at increased risk for developing pancreatic cancer. To do so, the patient management software integrates with the electronic health record and facilitates patient identification, risk assessment, care plan tracking, patient and provider communication, outcomes recording, and registry functionality. In the 2 years following program implementation, 82 pancreatic cancers were detected from incidental findings with 65% of patients being diagnosed in earlier stages (stages I, II, and II), as well as instances of ampullary cancer, gallbladder cancer, and gastric cancer. Guest: Russell Langan, MD, FACS, FSSO Associate Chief Surgical Officer, System Integration and Quality & Director of Surgical Oncology RWJBarnabas Health, Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center Livingston, New Jersey “There remains a knowledge gap with respect to the risk associated with pancreatic cysts. Many patients are identified to have a pancreatic cyst on an incidental scan and then told [by providers] that there's no risk. [Some] patients will then return years later with pancreatic cancer. And it's very unfortunate because we know that risk could have been addressed when it was in its precancerous state.” —Russell Langan, MD, FACS, FSSO Hear more about this innovation at the ACCC 41st National Oncology Conference, October 9-11, 2024, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The conversation discusses a case of a 34-year-old female with hip pain and a history of low back pain. The patient is active in CrossFit and has been experiencing right anterior hip pain associated with squatting, running, and jumping. The pain started several months ago and has worsened recently. The chiropractors suspect an internal hip issue and work on stabilizing her back while calming down the hip. However, further examination reveals that the patient has a history of ovarian cysts and potential endometriosis. The chiropractors recommend that she see an OB/GYN and consider functional medicine to address the hormonal dysregulation. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thefarmcast/message

Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend! I'm looking forward to sharing with you some of our community's questions that have come in over the past few weeks… Elise: Hi Dr Stephen Cabral, firstly - huge thanks for turning my life around with your protocols since 2018. Forever grateful. My question is, I recently saw an advertisement for a skin supplement called Activated You, and it said consuming collagen internally is basically useless, and that what we really need to consumer are other things in their skin care supplement and in particular: Lysine, L-Arginine, and L-Proline. What are your thoughts on this? Do you include these in any of your products? I take the DNS powder daily. Thanks, Elise Javier: Good Morning Doc! Hope all is well with you , family and business! Question for you…recently I've went from sauna to 55 degree cold dip…and I've been coughing up blood… they found a small infection in my lower left lung…Antibiotics cleared it out…so a day before the follow up appt I dipped again and coughed up even more after a 30 min sauna and 50 degree dip… After several blood cultures and lung function test showed clear they decided to do a bronchoscopy which looked clear but she's waiting on results on fluid biopsy tests… My pulmonary doctor is pretty sure it's hymoptysis but wants to rule everything out… just wanted to see your thoughts on this and if you've e heard of any other cases like mines. I've done it for a year very frequently with no issues…same method…hop from sauna Pati: Hi Dr Cabral, I recently has a transvaginal ultrasound and the findings were that everything was normal. My doctor mentioned things looked good. But on the results also found Cervix: Nabothian cyst. Have you had any experience with client who have had these before and if so are they any suggestions of how to eliminate them? Sorry if this is TMI! Thank you for all you do! Paty: Hello Dr Cabral,I have questions about my son's health.Vegetarian,10 yrs old,he doesn't like (vegetables, fruits, eggs, milk, smoothies) but he loves cheese so he will only eat salads with cheese and dressing and he likes sweets. His hands gets so dry and itchy,Dr said eczema gave me a cream when it flares. Also the skin on his back is having areas of discoloration. He tends to be anxious, ocd, eye tics, nose bleeds constantly and is stuffy,ENT Dr wants to do a procedure for enlarged turbinates and cauterize but it has been done many times. His iron tends to be low.Currently he takes cod liver oil, children multivitamin with iron, folate with B12,calcium gummies with D3 and comfort shen for anxiety. What tests and protocols would you recommend for him, should he do the ENT procedure? Thanks Summer: Hi Dr. Cabral! I do weekly coffee enemas, and sometimes more when I feel it's needed. Although I have seen great benefit in many ways from this schedule, I've had an IHP tell me that they can strip away too many minerals along with the toxins. I listen to several natural health practitioners I trust who do them every single day. I intend to ask them how their mineral levels are personally since every day seems excessive. Some of them will do a mineral rich implant enema of wheat grass, chlorophyll, liquid mineral supplements, potassium, or herbal blends after the coffee, and some don't do anything. I always replenish through the day by drinking electrolytes, fruit/veggie blend, bone broth, or veggie juices. What are your thoughts on any of these mineral rich implants? Thanks! Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows! This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track! Check out today's questions: Darren: Good day Dr Cabral. Hope all is well. Question just to clear up something for me rather than I remain confused. I'm about to purchase Fatlossity for a loved one and I'm not disputing the fact that it works but I just checked ingredients and I'm seeing sunflower oil listed. Isn't that also a much maligned seed oil? Why would it be in product or is it absolutely necessary? Or do you guys formulate it in a way to minimise the usual fallouts from using it? Keep up great work. Deonna: Hi Dr. Cabral! Thank you for your amazing work. I just started your program this year and have seen wonderful results. My question today is in regard to my husband. He has a simple cyst on his kidney. The it is not interfering with anything right now; however the troubling part to us is that it is huge, about the size of a football. He retires next summer and we are thinking of having it drained while he is still on insurance. I know some complications can occur by either leaving it if it continues to enlarge or possibly infection on draining, etc. I know you can't give medical advice, but if this was you, are there any things you might try before opting for surgery. Thank you! Lidia: Hi Dr. Cabral, Thank you for the abundance of knowledge that you share on a daily basis. I am super grateful to have found your podcast. I wanted to know your thoughts on the use of Colloidal Silver (topical use) on face as a toner, just as part of a simple every day skin care routine. There are also mixed thoughts online on it's oral use, such as adding some to your drinking water to treat a cold or other symptoms. Thank you in advance. Lara: Hi, dr. Cabral.. I'm wondering how to actually use an iron cast pan? I've listened to your podcast about pots and pans and figured it's the safest one for pancakes and such? But how to properly use it if you don't want to really cook with oil? It seems impossible.. Also, are old enamel glazed pots ok? Thank you so much ! Anonymous: Hi Dr Cabral, I am trying to get more protein in my diet, as well as heal my leaky gut. I have been using glutamine and protein powder lots more than usual. Both to help heal my gut and get more protein in my diet, but have discovered since adding these in that the glutamine in the protein powder and glutamine powder I take is giving me anxiety and panic attacks. Is there anything I can do to prevent this? Or is glutamine just a product that doesn't work well for some people and are there alternatives I can use?
