Have you ever found yourself trapped in a cycle of self-doubt and fear, wondering if you're truly capable of pursuing your passions or starting that dream project? It's a common dilemma, especially in high-pressure careers where perfectionism often takes the reins. Many of us find themselves held back by the fear of making mistakes or failing, leading to feelings of regret and unfulfilled potential. This hesitation not only affects professional growth but can also seep into personal well-being, causing stress and anxiety. The challenge is compounded by societal pressures to maintain an image of success, leaving little room for vulnerability or experimentation. This fear of failure can be paralyzing, preventing one from taking the crucial first steps toward one's goals. The constant pressure to meet expectations can result in a life of missed opportunities and unfulfilled dreams, leaving many to wonder, "What if?" But what if embracing imperfection and tackling fears one step at a time could lead to a life of fulfillment and happiness?  Dr. Eric Block is a full-time practicing dentist in Acton, Massachusetts, who owns Acton Dental Associates. They also discuss DealsforDentists as well as Dr. Block's story to becoming a dentist.    About Dr. Eric Block: I got my DMD from the Nova Southeastern College of Dental Medicine in Ft. Lauderdale in 2002.  After  NOVA, I knew I wasn't ready for private practice both clinically and mentally I also wanted to get involved with implants b/c I thought it was a future and a way out of just doing general dentistry.  I actually thought I was going to be a quote unquote implantologist and just placed and restored implants all day.  I went to BU and completed a two-year Dental Implantology residency at Boston University in 2004.  It was like a mimi perio/pros but focused on extractions/bone graft and placing and restoring implants.  After BU, I entered Private practice after school with about $300Kin debt.  I associated for many years and am now a partner/owner of Acton Dental Associates, Which is a 9 operatory multi-specialty practice with about 4500 active patients. I started www.dealsfordentists.com during the coronavirus shutdown.  It is a free marketplace where dentists can find the latest new customers from vendors across the industry. Also started The Deals for Dentists podcast where I interview dentists and vendors to find out their stories and how they can help other dentists.  Especially young dentists nationwide.  I am also writing a book (title to be named later) about dentists and their mental health.

Today we sit down with Dr. Sherika Newman. This is an uniquely different topic that we're talking about today as we discuss Palliative Care in the practice and healthcare space of Concierge Medicine. According to the WHO, an estimated 40 million people are in need of palliative care each year, 78% of them people live in low- and middle-income countries. Worldwide, only about 14% of people who need palliative care currently receive it. ... Early palliative care reduces unnecessary hospital admissions and the use of health services.[1] Palliative care is an approach that improves the quality of life of patients (adults and children) and their families who are facing problems associated with life-threatening illness. It prevents and relieves suffering through the early identification, correct assessment and treatment of pain and other problems, whether physical, psychosocial or spiritual. Dr. Sherika Newman is the physician every patient deserves. With a gentle spirit and a listening ear, she pours love into every patient experience. For Dr. Newman, palliative care is not just a practice; it's a calling. After attending Nova Southeastern College of Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, FL, she completed her Family Medicine residency in 2008. In 2009, she finished her Fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at Broward Health. Since then, Dr. Newman has played a leading role in both inpatient and outpatient palliative medicine including operating her own private practice from 2009-2011, leading the Lee Memorial Hospital Q-Life Palliative Medicine Program from 2011 until 2014 and managing at Emory University as the Palliative Site Director of Emory Saint Joseph Hospital until July 2017. Her experience has earned her the recognition to serve as a national leader in palliative care. RELATED STORY Differences Between Palliative Care and Hospice [2] In 2012, Dr. Newman was a nominee for the Robert Wood Johnson Leadership Award. She has also left her mark on the Florida Physician's Orders for Life-Sustaining Therapy (POLST). With Dr. Newman, you get more than just a physician; she has a heart for the people. She is a public speaker who uses local and regional platforms to educate communities on Palliative Care including an appearance on ABC affiliate WZVN in Fort Myers, where she spoke openly about compassionate care. With Doctors In The Family, Dr. Newman offers patients a double dose of compassion and experience. Practicing alongside her colleague, Michelle Evans, the two bring nearly two decades of success to family medicine. Dr. Newman gives patients the personal touch providing an intimate restorative experience. “It's about our family caring for your family,” she said. The care Dr. Newman provides is unforgettable. Her body and mind may have been done with Dentistry but she had another goal, a second dream that sat waiting patiently for the right door to open. Dora became her alter ego,  Doris Vilk, writing and self publishing her first of the Chatham series novels Love Arrested on Amazon which rose to number one and two in Canada, top 100 in US and even sold in Japan. Her romance novels are certainly hot and steamy, but they are really about the human experience, emotions we all have in common of empowerment and resilience, and how to continue and thrive when life throws downfalls your way. As we follow the challenges faced by Susan Chatham, we fall in love and persevere ourselves.  Be inspired by this Dentist turned author and prepare to be Aroused.
