The boys are back to enjoy another beautiful weekend in Chicago and waste no time jumping into the fun. They recap an epic day in the city that took them from Wrigley Field to an outdoor festival and then back downtown, making for one of the best days they've had in a long time. From there, the crew talks about their Friday night and Saturday morning plans, including Chris gearing up for an upcoming half marathon. Then it's on to last week's news to kick off the new week. Topics include the proposed UFC event at the White House, athletes competing in the performance-enhancing-drug-friendly Enhanced Games, Iran's complicated plans surrounding the World Cup, why people may want to see New Orleans before it sinks, and saying goodbye to Schlitz beer. As always, the boys wrap things up with some feel good stories to send everyone into the week with a smile. Grab a drink and get ready — it's another classic episode of the Saturday Night Pregame!
On this day, 1 June 1981, just over 700 production workers at the Schlitz Brewing Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, walked out on strike after contract negotiations broke down, when workers were offered far inferior settlements to Miller workers in the same town. Schlitz had been struggling financially since the late 1970s, partly due to a change to the recipe which was made to save money but was deeply unpopular. The workers kept up their walkout until the end of September until bosses retaliated by closing the plant, sacking all employees. The company was then sold.More information, sources and map: https://stories.workingclasshistory.com/article/8098/schlitz-workers-strikeOur work is only possible because of support from you, our listeners on patreon. Grab your pastel shorts and a cold drink because Chad is broadcasting live from Portugal, celebrating his birthday alongside a local bar owner while Joel prepares for a milestone anniversary trip to Italy. In this high-energy, unfiltered episode of The Chad & Cheese Podcast, the boys take a sledgehammer to the current AI hype cycle, contrasting Workday's massive earnings and $500 million agentic AI run rate against the harsh reality of Microsoft and Uber scaling back their tech due to exploding compute costs. From Stepstone's new EU compliance push to Indeed's automated features, Chad drops a massive hot take on how over-engineered recruiting tools create dangerous compliance risks and automation bias. They tie up the loose ends of the global economy by breaking down everything from the historic Indy 500 finish and a comedic eulogy for Schlitz beer, to the Pope's latest tech warnings and the EU's pivot to renewable energy as a national security weapon. As middle-tier M&A dominos fall this summer, National Beer Wholesalers Association (NBWA) president and CEO Craig Purser joins the latest Brewbound Podcast to discuss the tectonic shifts in the distribution landscape following Republic National Distributing Company's (RNDC) fire sale. Purser is part of a double shot of interviews this week, including Aeronaut director of programming Deepa Chungi, who shares how the Massachusetts craft brewery created a booming events business. First, Purser offers insights into what middle-tier consolidation means for small producers and distributors, and how the power structure has been reshaped with mega spirits distributor Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits picking up Anheuser-Busch InBev's distribution rights in major markets. Purser also explains what he believes the intoxicating hemp beverage industry needs to do to get lawmakers onboard and potentially avert the ban coming in November. Then, Chungi explores the keys for small breweries looking to add private and public events to their businesses, and why events such as "Pitch a Friend" and Dungeons & Dragons game nights have packed Aeronaut's taproom. Plus, the Brewbound team discusses the demise of Schlitz, the closure of Minneapolis' Bauhaus Brew Labs and a helluva partnership for Mike's Dirty Lemonade.

Bradley Jay filled in on NightSide: Schlitz beer will be no longer...One of America's oldest beers that "made Milwaukee famous" will no longer be produced after over 175 years of production. Pabst Brewing Co., the beer parent company, said they have seen the “continued increases in our costs to store and ship certain products and have had to make the tough choice to place Schlitz Premium on hiatus." Do you have a favorite beer that if discontinued you'd be devastated? Welcome back to another beautifully unhinged episode of The Rizzuto Show, the daily comedy show where weather panic, backstage concert chaos, and deeply questionable life hacks all somehow live together in harmony. This episode starts with the gang discovering they unexpectedly have Memorial Day off… which immediately boosts morale by roughly 4,000%. Unfortunately, Mother Nature heard everyone getting happy and responded with “Cool, here's baseball-sized hail.”So naturally, the show spends an alarming amount of time discussing emergency hail protection strategies for your car. We're talking yoga mats on windshields, moving blankets stuffed in car doors, floor mats duct-taped to glass, and Amazon hail covers that apparently arrive approximately three business days AFTER your vehicle gets obliterated. Helpful. Then it's full speed into Point Fest weekend chaos. The crew recaps muddy stages, backstage panic, rain-soaked setup crews, and the bands asking whether they were about to get electrocuted mid-set. Tommy's response? Basically: “Then go home.” Which honestly might be the most rock festival answer ever delivered.Rizz also attempts the impossible mission of becoming best friends with Wolfgang Van Halen. Armed with sleeveless confidence and visible nipple tattoos, he enters the interview ready to crack the code of a man who arrived with crossed arms, a hoodie pulled tight, and the body language of someone trapped in a DMV waiting room. Against all odds? He gets a couple laughs. That's basically friendship in radio terms.Meanwhile:Moon invents fake science about breath mints killing “good bacteria”Rafe roasts an entire squad of freshly dumped teenage boysLern survives Point Fest while running entirely on vibes and tank topsAaron Lewis apparently hotboxed an entire backstage area into another dimensionBlue October delivers emotional damage directly to everyone's soulSomebody may or may not have confused funnel cake residue for cocaineAnd the show debates whether Schlitz beer has secretly been dead for 20 years alreadyAlso discussed:✔️ Why Moon suddenly believes a razor blade/apple tongue injury story✔️ Why Tim Virgin was apparently giving dating seminars to teenagers✔️ Why “my mom gave me this pass” is the funniest security response ever✔️ The mystery concert announcement gamble that immediately cost Moon ten dollars✔️ Why every security guard at Point Fest feels like family at this point✔️ And how Rizz's son and his broccoli-haired crew somehow looked simultaneously suspicious AND adorable all day longThis episode is pure St. Louis concert-season energy. Loud, chaotic, humid, sarcastic, slightly emotional, and somehow still functioning despite every warning sign suggesting otherwise. If you love backstage stories, hilarious fails, weird news, live music chaos, sarcastic commentary, and a daily comedy show that sounds like your funniest friends yelling across a parking lot before a concert… congratulations. You found your people. And yes… somehow this entire episode still qualifies as a professional broadcast.Barely.This daily comedy show is proudly fueled by caffeine, poor decisions, weather anxiety, and whatever cloud Aaron Lewis left hovering backstage.Follow The Rizzuto Show → https://linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → https://1057thepoint.com/RizzShowHear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
