On Prophecy Radio episode #132, Karen and Kristen discuss the final two chapters of Percy Jackson and the Chalice of the Gods! They also talk about the brand new Nico di Angelo novel, The Court of the Dead. New episodes of Prophecy Radio will air every other week. All discussions are PG-13. News and Updates (00:06:47) Karen's officiating a wedding, which means you get this episode early! Leah won the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Performance by a Youth (for Percy Jackson)! A Touch of Blood by Sajni Patel is out now. The Court of the Dead: A Nico di Angelo Adventure releases in the US and the UK on September 25, 2023. We go through the synopsis and it sounds fantastic. Khadijah Khatib once again did the cover, and we're obsessed with it! We look at the cover pretty closely and see if we can find any clues about the story. The Cosmopolitan interview with Rick and Mark about the new book is a lot of fun. We love that this was Mark's idea and that they keep describing the book as “bonkers.” Will we see Bob and Small Bob again? Could there be a third Nico di Angelo book?? There IS a new character we can expect in Book 2. We also love the three words each of them use to describe this book. Check out Rick's blog for a few more details. We go through all the special editions that Read Riordan announced on their Instagram. Are you planning on getting any of the special editions? Would you spring for more than one? Chalice of the Gods discussion (00:33:03) We kick off our discussion with Chalice of the Gods chapter 34. “Delete, Delete” is the best running joke. Did you remember when the spaghetti situation took place? Is Paul basically Rick? The art of the one-star review is something to be revered. Is Sally's one-star review really a review that Rick got? We're so interested in Sally's book! What genre is it?? Callie once again shows up to share her opinions. The scene where Percy has to write his letter is SO FANTASTIC. We go looking for the recommendation letter we thought we remembered being in one of the special editions and get a surprise. As always, we get into our favorite lines and favorite scenes. Lastly, we jump into chapter 35, “Pretty Much the Best Good-Night Kiss Ever.” Percy gets Annabeth's special smile! Annabeth is very chill about giving out her autograph. It's so interesting that we learned something new about the cap. Annabeth is speechless over the fact that Athena has maybe, sort of, kind of accepted Percy as her boyfriend? We love visions of Percabeth's future! Easy-queasy has a lot of potential. The “I love you” felt significant, but it's not the first time they said it, right? The goodnight kiss through the Iris Message was SO CUTE. Favorite lines and favorite scenes! Feedback (00:00:00) There is no feedback this week! Thanks for listening, and tune in next time for episode 133, where we'll review what we've already discussed in The Red Pyramid before we pick it back up again. This episode's hosts are: Karen and Kristen Each episode, Prophecy Radio‘s hosts will discuss any official news coming out of Camp Half-Blood before doing a chapter by chapter reread of Percy Jackson or one of Rick Riordan's other series. This week Sam, English Dan, Chris and Andrés look at a round and a half of matches that have seen everyone who'd played up to the start of recording get mixed results (with the scores that came in after we wrapped up continuing that trend). One Argentine team who do have some consistency are the national under-20s, who've secured qualification for the U-20 World Cup later this year and have a showdown with Brazil on Thursday night to effectively decide the South American title. And what on earth is going on at Estudiantes?
Plane crashes, federal freezes, federal firings --- that this is a hostile takeover that is for the benefit of billionaires is no surprise, but there is a singular reason why the aggression of Musk and Trump's Admin goes deeper than simply 'shock and awe.' Every single fucking terrible thing that is happening is so that billionaires and corporations can renew the Trump's 2017 tax break that criminally benefitted the rich, and is set to expire this year. How do they intend to cover the spread left when they rob the fed gov't of finances? By eliminating Medicaid. I can't wait to beat some billionaire ass - we got a plan, oh and remember how Biden got signed to CAA? LOL. We got this, and i got u. Jump in w/ Janaya Future Khan. It wasn't pretty, and it wasn't expected to be. Given their massive talent gap on both sides of the ball, as well as their coaching continuity and ability to reload at key positions - like quarterback - No. 1 Oregon was able to brush Washington aside with relative ease en route to a 49-21 shellacking Saturday night in Eugene. For Kim Grinolds, who was on site at Autzen Stadium, as well as Chris Fetters and Scott Eklund back home in the greater-Seattle area, the result was hardly surprising. It was the expected outcome given how their offseason took place, as well as the divergent they took when it came to how their seasons unfolded. One program ran the table en route to being the No. 1 team in the country; the other had to scrape by on the second-to-last game of the season just to get bowl-eligible. But the biggest talking point, and the first thing discussed tonight, was the move from UW Head Coach Jedd Fisch to have true freshman Demond Williams make his first start of the season in Eugene. Without doing an exhaustive look at the record books, we have to believe this is the first time in UW history a true frosh quarterback made his first start ever on the road against the No. 1 team in the country. And he performed really well, all things considered. He finished with a higher passer rating than his Oregon counterpart, Dillon Gabriel, and also led UW to 21 points against a Duck defense that was surrendering less than 16 points a game. However, it was the inability of Washington to muster anything on the ground, coupled with Oregon's ability to pick and choose the kind of running game they wanted all night long, that proved to be the difference in the game. Gabriel really didn't have to test Washington's defense because their best offense was handing the ball off to Jordan James and Noah Whittington. And defensively, Oregon was able to wreak a ton of havoc with their base attack, eventually forcing 16 tackles for loss and 10 sacks against a Washington offensive line that was outmatched at every turn. Most of the night, Williams had little to no time to look downfield, let alone go through a progression. Now that the game is over, what does Washington do going forward? Signing Day is this coming Wednesday, and the transfer portal window opens up the following Monday. It's safe to say the UW coaches have their hands full, as well as their plates because right around when the portal opens is the same time the team will learn which bowl game they will be playing in. And before the guys gave their final thoughts on the game and what UW needs to do moving forward, they talked about what bowl game the Huskies will likely go to. There were Independence Bowl reps in Eugene Saturday night, so is it a done deal that the Huskies will be heading to the Bayou? Kim has been hearing about another bowl that could be a possibility, and this destination is much closer to home. And lest we forget, Dawgman.com is running our biggest sale of the season: 75 PERCENT OFF a yearly subscription, and just in time for the holidays! Consider it a great stocking stuffer for the UW sports fan in your family. They'll love you forever. You can get details on the sale HERE. In my former life, I was in the business of corporate goals - we called these projects - and I was responsible for some of the biggest, hairiest, riskiest projects in the UK (that life is almost unfathomable to me now). #nowonderIdrankWe often had a team of physics grads who managed an enormous Gannt chart - the project plan. We talked about The Plan endlessly. It was forever being updated, changed, added to, and reported on.We worshipped that thing. I suspect that in the face of so many moving parts and dependencies, not to mention all the humans involved, the money involved - we were trying to hold on to some morsel of control. Of certainty. But the plan NEVER reflected reality! Because things take longer than we think, people get sick or change jobs; we meet unexpected hurdles. Decisions get made in basement rooms in Whitehall, and the whole thing changes. If there is one thing I learned, it's that doing anything is bloody complicated. When I burned out for the third time because I was not made for that level of stress, became a coach working with humans with self-doubt, I found we experience the same challenges for personal goals, on a more manageable scale.Self-doubt is often a huge part of our personal goals - which makes so much sense - we are stepping into the unknown to bring something into existence. However, no mainstream approach to goals takes our humanity, or Self-doubt into account. Instead, we are told we must be consistent, have willpower, be disciplined, and be organised. We are told our doubts, fears and worries should be dismissed or ignored. Its like having an internalised personal trainer yelling at us the whole time. But after working with hundreds of humans over the years, I can tell you that none of that even matters. In this episode of the podcast, I share the five things that pretty much guarantee goal success. These qualities are woven into my Courage-based Goals coaching programme, which is currently open for enrolment! If you've been stopping and starting on something that matters to you - a habit change, a creative goal, a desire for some new way of being - listen in!In this episode:Courage-based Goals: a 50-day coaching programme specifically designed for humans with self-doubt. If you are procrastinating on your goal - come and join us lovely - there is a spot just for you. We start on the 22nd of October and there is an early-bird price available right now

In this first part of a series designed to help us understand different End Times views—particularly of the Millennial Kingdom—Dan Jarms and John Gardner discuss the essentials of the End Times, emphasizing the importance of a high view of Scripture and non-negotiable beliefs. They highlight the necessity of Christ's return, the reality of judgment and eternal consequences, and the promise of a bodily resurrection and a new heavens and new earth. They stress the importance of evangelism, driven by the belief in a real hell and a real heaven. The conversation underscores the unity of believers in these core tenets, despite differing views on the millennium. They conclude by encouraging active faith and social engagement until Jesus' return.

The headline for today's podcast came from the lips of Brit Hume on Fox News, and if that doesn't set the table for the conversation today, maybe it was the handshake she charged towards Donald to give well past midway on the stage to pronounce her name correctly for him. He never said her name; he invoked Joe Biden several times, but never once said her name. George Chidi from The Atlanta Objective and Melita Easters, executive director at the Georgia WIN List join me today for some post-debate analysis. On the 23rd anniversary of 9/11, it's Melita - mother of a female Naval Academy graduate who was at Annapolis that day - who reminds us all the importance of global standing for our country. That's a noteworthy distinction to make the morning after the Vice President drew stark contrasts between she and President Biden's standing and what world leaders think of one Donald John Trump.

I get it a calorie deficit is needed but … It is NOT the most important thing. Most of us out here aren't even sure what that REALLY MEANS!! Calorie deficit is indeed an effective method for weight loss, but it's important to approach it carefully. When focusing on a whole foods diet, people often naturally consume fewer calories without strict calorie counting. A calorie deficit is necessary for weight loss, but cutting calories too drastically can have negative effects. Very low-calorie diets can lead to loss of lean muscle mass, which slows down your metabolism. . This can make it harder to maintain weight loss in the long term…and EVEN more difficult to see FAT loss!! Super restrictive diets can negatively impact hormones and metabolism. The 1200 calorie “diet” is a thing of the past AND it is NOT realistic, healthy OR sustainable. They may lead to insufficient nutrient intake, bone loss, and increased risk of osteoporosis. These diets can also be difficult to maintain long-term, potentially resulting in weight regain, with most of that weight gain being FAT GAIN!!! Instead of extreme calorie restriction, I recommend adopting a sustainable, healthy lifestyle. This includes: 1. Getting adequate sleep. 2. Focusing on nutrient-dense whole foods 3. Incorporating regular physical activity, especially strength training.( don't be afraid to life a little heavier) 4. Managing stress. Keep it simple, listen to your body, EAT and get in some healthy movement!!!

Friend of the show, Jesuit priest, author, and editor-at-large of America Media Father James Martin stopped by Father Dave's radio studio to discuss his recent meeting with Pope Francis, what it was like being at the Vatican with a number of famous comedians, and more. On Friday June 14, Pope Francis met with a number of comedians from multiple countries including Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert, Whoopi Goldberg, Chris Rock, and Jim Gaffigan to name a few. The meeting, according to the Vatican's Dicastery for Communication, was intended to “establish a link” between the Catholic Church and such artists and aimed to "celebrate the beauty of human diversity ... [and] promote a message of peace, love and solidarity." LISTEN: Catholic Comedian Judy McDonald on Humor in Difficult Times Father James Martin is a consultor to the Vatican's Dicastery for Communication and explains to Father Dave how he became involved. “I knew about the comedians thing about two months before they met with the pope,” Father James says. “It was organized very quickly. They wanted to do it before the Synod in October. The Dicastery for Culture and Education put it together, and I helped them out with the U.S. comedians.” Father Dave asks, “So they are over there in Rome and they think to themselves, who knows comedians over in the states? Boom, Father Jim Martin.” “Pretty Much!,” Father Jim replies. Father Jim explains that the Dicastery for Culture and Education initially sent him a long list of over 50 comedians and humorists and asked him to narrow it down. “I talked to Stephen Colbert and Jim Gaffigan, who I know, and I said help me pick the people who are really kind of the most respected among your peers because we had to narrow it down, and then the Vatican approved it.” Father Jim adds that there was no litmus test for the comedians who were picked. They did not have to be Catholic; it didn't matter if they had said negative things about Pope Francis or the Catholic Church. It was more about the biggest names who are most respected in their field. RELATED: Misheard During Mass: Parents Shared Despite the gathering's quick organization, Father Jim was very happy with how it all worked out. “One of the things that was very moving for me was everyone was really honored and happy to be there. Comedians can be a little cynical sometimes, but they were really happy to be at the Vatican meeting with the Pope and were all quite moved.” Father Jim also spoke with Father Dave about his one-on-one hour-long meeting with the pope while he was in Rome. “We talked about two things which I can say. We talked about his comments about gay priests, which were very much in the news, and we talked about the U.S. Church.” Father Jim continues, “We had a very open and honest conversation about his comments about gay priests and one of the things I wanted to share was at the comedians meeting, everybody went up and shook his [Pope Francis'] hand and I went up to him, and I posted a video of this, and I said, thank you very much. And he pulls me back and he says, ‘Thank you for that conversation the other day. I really appreciated it.' And I thought, now that's really unusual, like, thank you for a conversation that was difficult and challenging. He didn't have to say that. So I just think that's a sign of how open he is. He's learning. He listens.”

Let's get that entertainment tea!
Charles Barkley wants the Knicks to lose to the Celtics because he hates NY. Except for the ‘street meat'.
Mark, Lawrence, Sarahlyn, and Al discuss the American version, and to a lesser extent the British and Australian versions, of this reality game show that originated in 2021 in the Netherlands, based on the party game Mafia (aka Werewolf), plus Survivor-like challenges and a gothic tone. How does such a simple (stupid?) concept end up creating compelling TV? Are we cruel for liking this show? Is it better suited to hardened reality game show players, or with normal people? What's the role of the host, and is Alan Cumming the best possible one? For more, visit prettymuchpop.com.
