As we ENTER Royal Rumble 2026 weekend and we also enter Black History Month... the PWR Boys wanna give props to African American wrestlers who gave us history-making contributions to the history of pro wrestling! The Liberation babyface turns of Virgil and “Pistol” Pez Whatley!!!! During the Royal Rumble (1991), we saw Virgil break away from the “Million Dollar Man” after years of mental, physical abuse and manipulation!!! While Pez Whatley saw the light against Jimmy Valiant!!! How can the Professor defend Pez Whatley as a face turn??? Listen up Reflectionites because this is a good one!  

With the debates the IWC is having about safety for a wrestler's career after William Regal's impassioned tweet.... the professor thought to spotlight when a man was frustrated with a seemingly lack of respect from ECW fans for wanting more blood and more violence... hence the Mr. Anti-Hardcore gimmick of Cactus Jack manifested!!! The PWR boys will tap today's debate with yesterday's and talk when is the line crossed between being entertained and literally doing by any means necessary to risk it all!!! Perspectives from a fan and a wrestler make this a really intriguing discussion! BANG BANG!!!

Welcome to Episode 26 of Pro Wrestling Spotlight REWIND. Today's episode features an original uncut episode of the historic talk show, hosted by John Arezzi. On this episode we share the July 21st, 1991 broadcast of Pro Wrestling Spotlight, which aired on 1240 AM in West Babylon New York. On this episode we cover the Press Conference held on July 19th, 1991 at NYC's Plaza Hotel, held by Vince McMahon and WWF PR Director Steve Planamenta - to address the steroid scandals exploding at that time. Dr. George Zaharion (WWF Ringside Doctor in PA) was convicted by a jury for illegal distribution of Steroids, and McMahon needed to put water on that fire. The WWF attempted to control the media at that time and did not invite the Wrestling Press to attend (especially yours truly). I was able to get in using an alias, and confronted McMahon about it. All captured on tape. Later on the show - we featured reporter Alex Marvez of the Miami Herald to discuss the turmoil and the scandals. The boys are back, and it's time to relive an entertaining rivalry from Jay B's golden era. What I would love right now, is for all the Reflectionites to sit back and enjoy the nostalgia of the Rick Rude/Ultimate Warrior rivalry from 1989 to 1990. Two equally larger-than-life personas captivated WWE fans in the late 1980s, and their feud was a great mid-card match that was almost as good as Hulk Hogan's main event feud at that time. This rivalry was a litmus test for both the Warrior and the heat magnet Rude, and it made this feud truly special. Welcome to episode 4 of Pro Wrestling Spotlight Rewind - where we look back at classic shows from the archives of John Arezzi, going back to the very early days of pro wrestling talk on the radio. On this episode - we will review show #4 show which aired on 1440 WNYG in Babylon, NY on April 30th, 1989. The 4th show on WNYG in 1989 features the very first on air appearances by both Gary Michael Cappetta (who is the in studio guest) and Al "Broadway Sonny Blaze" Schaefer, who later became co-host of the show. Both Gary and Al review the show with us. NOTE: As was the case in the history of PWS - technical difficulties play a part in some parts of the show from 35 years ago, and it is the case for parts of this episode of PWS Review. Gary had a very bad internet connection - and for some reason didn't hear or respond to many of the questions in the conversation. Marsh did the best he could editing it - but Gary leaves abruptly and we go right into the segment with Broadway Sonny Blaze This episode also includes the first appearances by Larry Zbyszko and Johnny Valiant, in addition to the first commercials from L&S Comix. David from the Power Twins is in the studio and John and David celebrate their victory that took place in Amityville High School the previous Friday in John's "managerial debut".  And a suprise appearance by Sol Horenstein at the end of the show Lots to digest here on this show There are classic phone calls & commercials as well!
