Hungry? How well would you hold up against temptation if you had been wandering in the wilderness for 40 days and someone offered you a loaf of bread? Be honest! Lent is here and, of course, it's the time of year when we intentionally focus our life in relationship to life of Jesus, and consider the things that distract us from our covenant of discipleship. No wonder folks in the olden days covered themselves in sackcloth and ashes. Being honest with ourselves can be hard, and saying, “the devil made me do it,” will get you nowhere. Good thing we are loved by a gracious, merciful and forgiving God, huh? More about Satan: Episode 569|Percolating on Faith/Satan. Week 2 of the "Awaken" series.
Send us a textThe coaches who create real change don't have louder voices or flashier frameworks—they lead themselves first. We dig into what “going first” actually looks like in practice: staying with discomfort, confronting patterns without excuses, and choosing honest growth over performative certainty. Instead of oversharing or racing to prove expertise, we show how self-leadership builds a felt sense of safety that clients can trust and mirror.Across this conversation, we break down the moments that matter: noticing when you want to bypass, naming what's true without drama, and processing emotions so action is clean rather than pressured. We talk through common traps—like confusing vulnerability with volume, asking clients to do work we're avoiding, and believing we must have everything figured out to be credible. You'll hear how modeling the exact reps you assign turns sessions from push to pull, reduces resistance, and replaces performance with presence. We also explore why outcomes accelerate when coaches lead from the front. Behavior is contagious; when you regulate, clients regulate. When you keep your growth alive, they feel permission to be in-process and brave earlier. Expect practical prompts for a single “go first” rep this week—have the money conversation, deliver the decisive no, make the courageous outreach—and a simple cadence to sustain momentum: feel, name, choose, act, reflect, refine. If you've done this work before, take this as a nudge to return to it. If you're just stepping into it, you're right on time.Ready to trade performance for proof-of-life leadership? Listen now, subscribe for more grounded coaching tools, and leave a review with the one discomfort you're committed to facing this week.Interested becoming a High Impact Coach? In this leader-focused episode, Kaitlyn Caffrey and James Meehan model what it looks like to read the Bible wisely by walking through Genesis 32 and Jacob's wrestling match with God. They unpack how to read Scripture through the lenses of Jesus is King and context is everything, helping leaders grow as Bible readers so they can lead students with confidence. A practical, honest look at wrestling with God—and discovering how every passage ultimately points us to Jesus.
This episode is a powerful, honest conversation with Coach Shawnee Harle about leadership, fear, vulnerability, and what it truly means to coach athletes in today's environment. Returning to the podcast more than two years after her first appearance, Coach Harle challenges coaches to rethink how they listen, how they lead, and how fear silently shapes behavior on the sidelines. We dive deep into the idea that athletes want to be seen, heard, and understood — and why many coaches unintentionally block that by leading with agendas instead of curiosity. Coach Harle explains why vulnerability is not weakness, how emotional intelligence is often stunted by sport culture, and why helping athletes trust themselves may be more important than getting them to trust the coach. This episode is filled with practical insight, reflection, and uncomfortable-but-necessary truths for coaches, parents, and leaders who care about long-term impact more than short-term wins.Topics covered in this episode:

How do you respond when the Holy Spirit prompts you to act, especially when the request feels unusual or unexpected? Do you obey? Do you hesitate? Do you try to reason your way out of it? What if God is calling you to take the first step in love toward someone who isn't like you, someone who may disagree with you, avoid you, or even hate you? When we realize obedience to the Lord is not ultimately about us, we open the door to unexpected and extraordinary opportunities. We never know what hangs in the balance, are you ready?
The only way we are going to reach the people that don't think like us, vote like us, agree with us—maybe even hate us—is to go first toward. There is no other way.The problem is that going first comes with a cost.We can't say that Jesus didn't warn us.

Today's episode is part of our special series exploring one of the most critical — and sometimes challenging — dynamics inside the agency sales process: trust and distrust. Over the coming weeks, you'll hear from agency leaders who are leaning into this issue — sharing real stories, lessons learned, and how they're building trust at every stage of their business development journey. These conversations are more than just episodes. They're also shaping the research foundation for our next book, The Trust Architecture, and for a set of Field Guides we'll be sharing with our community soon. If you've been listening to the show for a while, you know that at Predictive ROI, we help agencies sell more of what they do. And what we've seen time and again — across hundreds of agencies — is that trust, or the lack of it, is often the single biggest factor determining whether your sales pipeline flows or stalls. When trust is present — conversations feel easy, opportunities open up, and right-fit prospects move forward. But when trust is missing — friction builds, uncertainty creeps in, and momentum disappears. That's exactly why today's conversation is such a great fit for this series. Our special guest expert is Lyndsey Maddox, CEO of Digital Third Coast, a digital marketing agency founded in 2007 with a mission to make a measurable difference. Lyndsey joined the agency back in 2009 and has played just about every role on her way to the CEO seat. Along the way, she discovered her passion for helping clients win new business by being found at the exact right moment. For Lyndsey, good marketing isn't about what you spend or where you place it — it's about what you get in return. She understands how visibility and credibility intersect — and how the right strategies can transform expertise into influence and trust into measurable growth. I'm also joined by my colleague and co-host, Hannah Roth, our Director of Strategy and resident Mad Scientist here at Predictive. Hannah works in the trenches every day alongside our clients — helping them build trust at scale — and she leads all of our experiments inside the Predictive Lab. What you will learn in this episode: What "trust as a two-way street" looks like in every agency relationship — from right-fit clients to your own team The power of showing up consistently, owning your wins and your losses in biz dev The power of showing up consistently, owning your wins — and your losses — in biz dev Why making "deposits" into your trust bank is key to filling your pipeline with right-fit prospects The steps Lyndsey's team takes in their sales process to set expectations and prove their authority How to turn expertise into visibility Why authenticity and human stories will matter even more as AI raises credibility challenges Resources: Website: www.digitalthirdcoast.net LinkedIn Personal: https://www.linkedin.com/in/lyndseykramer/ LinkedIn Business: https://www.linkedin.com/company/digital-third-coast-internet-marketing/

Hey mama, Today's episode is a little heart-to-heart, inspired by one of you. A listener reached out and saying she's struggling with making friends as a working mom... and it hit me deep. So we're diving all the way in this week! Let's be real…making friends as a grown woman is just plain awkward. It's not like when we were little and you could walk up on the playground and say, “Wanna be friends?” and that was that. Now it takes courage, intentionality, and a whole lot of emotional energy we don't always have left at the end of a long day. In this episode, I'm sharing a quote that really hit me: “Friendships in adulthood don't happen by accident. They happen because someone was brave enough to go first.” — Danielle Bayard Jackson Most of us are walking around hoping someone will reach out, invite us, start the conversation… while we sit quietly convincing ourselves that we'd be bothering someone if we did. But mama…what if you were the one who went first? What followed was a year of intensive treatment, including chemotherapy, a double mastectomy, and total hysterectomy. In this episode, Bethany shares 10 Things about breast cancer survivorship, and how it's not ever really over even when declared "cancer-free." This is a tender and important conversation. This episode originally aired in 2021. As part of my effort to highlight the best of my past episodes, I wanted to replay this important conversation. 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. I had no idea how much I needed this conversation with actor, producer, director, writer, and musician Fiona Rene. In just one hour she taught me the value of believing in yourself above all else, more than anyone else, almost to the point of delusion. You might know Fiona Rene from her roles on Lincoln Lawyer, NCIS: Hawaii, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and her leading role in the #1 CBS show Tracker, but Fiona and I immediately connected over our Oklahoma roots. In this ONE THING conversation - where I ask my guests about the ONE THING they would tell you - we talk about self-confidence, the balance between "being" and "doing" and why believing in yourself above all else is the key to success. This episode with my friend Amy Ortloff originally aired in August 2021 with the title Teaching People To Grieve With Me. As part of my effort to highlight the best of my past episodes, I wanted to replay this conversation, which is one of the most important I've ever shared.Content warning: Child loss and suicideIn 2017, Amy Ortloff lost her middle child Ryan to suicide. Ryan was just 17 years old. Less than a week after his death, Amy took to her personal Facebook page and starting sharing every single day. She began by sharing stories about Ryan, family memories and examples of the kind of kid he was. She didn't want her child to be forgotten. As the weeks went by, deep in grief, Amy also started sharing her own experiences of this devastating time she was living through. She shared what she was learning in therapy, she set and shared her personal boundaries for interaction for those in her small town Oklahoma community. Amy's sharing was raw and vulnerable. It was heartbreaking and powerful. I made a point to read her posts every day that first year after Ryan. This episode is about the effects of that real-time sharing during the hardest time of her life, the positive and the negative. Amy was teaching us how to grieve with her, and it made an enormous impact on me long before I ever wrote a book about sharing stuff. If you or someone you know is having suicidal thoughts, please contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255 or text TALK to 741741. Please share this episode with anyone who needs to hear it. This episode is the very core of what 10 Things To Tell You is about: reflection, growth, and great conversations. And this conversation happens to be with one of my oldest friends and very favorite person to be on the microphone with: Meg Tietz. We're talking through the many ways we've changed in the last 10 years - since 2015 - in our home & family, career, and spiritually/emotionally. We have so much to say about our mid-30s, mid-2010s selves, and we're encouraging YOU to reflect on your own changes from the last decade.Meg is a writer, speaker, voice over artist, and internet pioneer. I have been following in her footsteps since high school, and she is responsible for giving me my first shot at podcasting when she launched the Sorta Awesome show in 2015. Together we created and produced Smartest Person in the Room and now we're both creating regularly on Substack.Read Meg's Substack Gemini WrongsHire Meg for voice over workFULL SHOW NOTES ARE HEREMENTIONED in this episode:Meg's Deconversion Series on Substack (Part 1) and Part 2 and Part 3Secret Stuff by Laura TremaineEp 235: 4 Lessons After Publishing 2 BooksEp 34: The RobberyEp 194: On Endings and Intuition SUBSCRIBE to 10 Things To Tell You so you never miss an episode!FOLLOW @10ThingsToTellYou on InstagramFOLLOW @10ThingsToTellYou on FacebookSIGN UP for episode emails, links, and show notesJOIN Laura Tremaine's SECRET SUBSTACKBUY THE BOOK: Share Your Stuff. You'll love this conversation if you've ever wrestled with the fact that achieving your dreams can look and feel different than you expected.Annie B Jones is most well known for owning The Bookshelf bookstore and for her book-focused podcast From the Front Porch, but now she's on the other side of publishing industry as she releases her debut book of essays Ordinary Time: Lessons Learned While Staying Put.In this conversation, Annie and I talk about how dreams don't always look the way you planned, like living near your hometown, owning a bookstore, even (especially?) writing a book! I have been waiting for the right moment to feature this conversation with interior designer Michelle Fahmy, founder of Haus of Meeshie, about bringing bold color and unique style to your home and life. For the past two years, Meeshie has helped bring fresh life to our family's home in Los Angeles, bringing a whole new vibe to our living spaces.Since I've long preached the power of our spaces on this show, I knew Meeshie (with her very bold style) would be the perfect person to talk us through this topic. But this conversation ended up being about way more than just paint and wallpaper. Meeshie's own career trajectory and leaps of faith make this an inspiring message for how to create the colorful life you want.Follow Haus of Meeshie on InstagramFollow @laura.tremaine on IG for peeks of my personal homeCheck out the EXTRA THINGS conversation with Meeshie on Laura Tremaine's Secret StuffEpisodes that pair well with this one:Ep 236: Discovering what was always thereBONUS: 5 Rules To Create A House You LoveFULL SHOW NOTES ARE HERE SUBSCRIBE to 10 Things To Tell You so you never miss an episode!CLICK HERE for episode show notesFOLLOW @10ThingsToTellYou on InstagramFOLLOW @10ThingsToTellYou on FacebookSIGN UP for episode emails, links, and show notesJOIN Laura Tremaine's SECRET SUBSTACKBUY THE BOOK: Share Your Stuff. Over the last few years I've watched my friend, Jessica Turner, privately and publicly walk through her husband's coming out and their subsequent divorce as well as her efforts to find her equilibrium in this new family dynamic. Jessica has done it all with grace and kindness and honesty, sharing her story with incredible strength and vulnerability. Her newest book, I Thought It Would Be Better Than This, chronicles this journey and the lessons she's learned from it.In this conversation, Jessica shares what it was like to navigate her own grief about the end of her marriage while also remaining a friend and ally to her ex-husband as he navigated coming out as gay. She shares how she was helped by journaling and therapy (two drums I will continue to bang all my days) and the rules she has for herself when it comes to sharing difficult and vulnerable things online. Jessica's hard won wisdom is applicable to anyone dealing with disappointment. or who thought to themselves about their love life, career, parenting, or just adulthood...I thought it would be better than this.Learn more about Jessica TurnerFollow Jessica Turner on IGBuy her book (out now!) What if you used to have a best friend but now you don't and that pain still lingers? What if you want a best friend, but have no idea how to find that person? In honor of my book The Life Council: 10 Friends Every Woman Needs celebrating its book birthday this week, I wanted to rerun this episode from January 2021 with Heather Adams.
