Lonnie's father was a second generation pro wrestler–a villain, who turned kind, soft and human with his fans after the match. His uncle was a turnaround executive leading several companies from distress and treating everyone with respect. Lonnie followed his uncle's path, working to right companies in difficulty for thirty years until he started Red Shoes Living to create the kind of culture in companies that he'd learned in his youth. Red Shoes stresses the basics that we know and seem to forget: seeing the person, being thankful, understanding that someone's actions might be related to an unknown story, treating everyone well and putting yourself out there. You can't help but be captivated by Lonnie.
In work and life, positive and negative situations throw us off balance. But with great leadership, every moment is an opportunity to stand out for the positive, overcome the negative, and be the best version of ourselves. As Lonnie Mayne once said “Most of us are in jobs that we don't really want to be in, we might have passions that are outside of it. One of the things Red Shoes does is it brings the cool factor back into the business, in life and it gives people purpose and a reason to show up”. In this episode of Fifth Dimensional Leadership, I speak with Lonnie Mayne, Founder & CEO of Red Shoes Living Inc. Lonnie is currently a Keynote Speaker & Leadership Authority. He is also the Author of Red Shoes Living: Stand Out for the Positive in How You Work & Live Your Life. In our conversation, Lonnie talks about standing out in work and in life by evaluating and reinventing ourselves into the best version we can be leading through positivity. Lonnie spent more than 20 years on the executive leadership scene. He worked closely with leading brands across 25 industries to help them inspire employee engagement with the battle for top talent, create outstanding customer experiences and build a meaningful company culture. When he was the president of InMoment, one of the largest customer experience technology companies in the world, Lonnie deployed a five-step leadership framework that his team used to grow the company by 817% in a short period of time. This platform eventually became known as Red Shoes Living and led to Lonnie becoming an in-demand keynote speaker and global consultant for C-level executives, leadership teams, and Fortune 500 companies. In a world that has reached a crescendo of negativity and complexity, Red Shoes Living is a constant reminder to stand out as a beacon of positivity in your work and life. Things you will also learn in this episode: The Red Shoes Living Reciprocity Effect What “compression” of people is in certain work environments What it means to be the best version of one's self. The one question that changed how Lonnie thinks - about everything! What it means to ”Rebuild your house” Quotes “Treat those who have more than you as equals, and those who have less than you as Kings and Queens; if you live your life that way, it'll count for plenty.” - Lonnie Mayne “How we treat people and what we put out there, for the most part, we get back – it's appreciated and reciprocated.” - Lonnie Mayne “If you're not taking care of yourself, you can't take care of other people.” - Lonnie Mayne “Keep your ego in check; if you don't, the world's going to knock it out of you.” - Lonnie Mayne “If we're not moving forward and working on mastery every day, we're actually falling behind because today is totally different than tomorrow.” - Lonnie Mayne “We will be better off for having gone through the trials and tribulations that we've gone through.” - Lonnie Mayne “When we give up on hope, we give up on everything.” - Lonnie Mayne “Don't give up hope or belief in people; we're human, we're imperfect, and it's not always going to be great. Some people will make mistakes but it doesn't give us the right to give up hope or belief in them.” - Lonnie Mayne

"The way you act and behave is far more powerful than the words you use. Attraction rather than promotion is the key to inspiring leadership." This is just one of the many nuggets of wisdom that Charlie Engle, Global Ultra-Endurance Athlete, shares with us on this Red Shoes Living podcast episode. This episode is packed with jaw-dropping experiences and powerful takeaways for leadership in today's ever-changing business landscape.Charlie Engle is a global ultra-endurance athlete and the founder of the 5.8 Global Adventure Series, one of the most ambitious expeditions in modern history, trekking from the lowest to the highest points on all seven continents. He is also one of the most accomplished ultramarathon runners in the world, having placed in hundreds of races in dozens of countries. His incredible athletic ability was profiled in the film, Running the Sahara, narrated by Matt Damon. The documentary highlighted his historic, record-setting journey across the world’s largest desert, running more than two marathons a day for 111 consecutive days, for a total of 4,500 miles. Charlie’s transcontinental run through deep sand and politically unstable countries remain one of the premier accomplishments in the ultra-endurance and adventure sports worlds. After crossing the Sahara and seeing the global water crisis first-hand, Charlie teamed up with Matt Damon to create H20 Africa, which later became the global humanitarian organization, Water.org.Charlie’s memoir, Running Man, became a bestseller shortly after it was published in 2016. While the book details his inspiring life story, it is about more than just running. It is about facing demons, overcoming impossible odds, keeping your sense of humor, and discovering the redemptive power of putting one foot in front of the other, even when you feel like you can’t keep going. His motivation to run and tackle extreme adventures stems from his battle with addiction to drugs and alcohol. Charlie has been in recovery since July 23, 1992, and he credits a large part of his recovery to the purposeful devotion and emotional release he experiences while running.Charlie is a dynamic speaker who has enthralled audiences around the world, from keynotes at the Boston Marathon and Google to the National Geographic Society, NATO, the United Nations, and the deck of a nuclearclass U.S. Naval aircraft carrier. He’s been featured in the New York Times, National Geographic Weekend, Outside, Runner’s World, NPR’s All Things Considered, Men’s Journal, and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. He lives with his wife, Astacianna Hatcher, in Durham, North Carolina.

The (wait for it) Mayne word of this episode has got to be ”connection.” You'll hear it in the easy communication between Spanny and his guest Lonnie Mayne as they discuss connecting with others and with audiences as professional presenters, as well as staying in touch with personal intent and ideals. This type of awareness makes all the difference in the richness of your days. Lonnie's striking stories including interviewing a man unjustly imprisoned for decades and developing Red Shoes Living, his signature approach for standing out with high standards. Listen for his story of packing red shoes for a trip with less-than-perfect attention …
When Lonnie was just a kid, he remembers hearing the cheers for his pro-wrestling dad rise from the stands. But every time he stepped out of the ring, he’d shake off his Moondog Mayne persona to connect with his fans on a human level. After his father passed away, Lonnie spent his summers traveling with his uncle who was a CEO “turnaround guy” and his personal business mentor. He sat in meetings with him and watched him get the best out of others by treating them like people first and employees or customers second. Over the last few decades, Lonnie has been a technology executive and before that an executive navigating mergers and acquisitions. During the most challenging times, he often asked himself: “How can I turn this noise down and develop the full potential of our people and our organization?” He knew there had to be a more respectful way to have tough conversations, handle company changes, and build team trust and resilience. A more inspired way to get others showing up every day, feeling excited to get to work. A more personalized way to serve customers and stand out from competitors… And he also knew where these changes would have to start: Not with the company, but with the leaders building and inspiring the company culture. To answer all these tough questions, he created a simple, life-changing, and value-driven performance model. It’s called Red Shoes Living and its applications go far beyond the work environment. Listen in on our conversation during Spartan Media Fest as we discuss his role as a father and how Red Shoes Living applies to life, business and parenting.
Lonnie Mayne credits his father, who was a professional wrestler known as “Moondog” Mayne, with inspiring a deep sense of kindness and respect in him from a young age. Lonnie carried this with him into the corporate business world, where he quickly saw the value of real humanity and treating others with respect. For the first 18 years of his career, he grew with a customer experience technology company that would become one of the biggest in the field, always holding his humanistic values at the core of his work. Today we're discussing his new book Red Shoes Living, and how humanizing business creates high performance, and allows you to play big. “It's a higher level of leadership or awareness, because you're literally treating every single person you come in contact with, with respect and understanding, and that it's on us to pull out all of that goodness in them…so ultimately you get performance.” What You Will Discover How to create high performance through humanizing your business How to stand out from the rest of your competition and be number one in your field Using business partnerships to validate you and spread your message Resources Buy a copy of Red Shoes Living at https://www.amazon.com/Red-Shoes-Living-Stand-Positive-ebook/dp/B07TN349VZ Learn more about Lonnie and his work at https://lonniemayne.com/
