Join “The Invisible Dan” and “Monster Mike” as they head to the Far East for the first direct sequel to 2002's The Scorpion King. Iko Uwais! Lewis Tan! Some other less famous people! Netflix's 2022 spiritual and actual sequel to Wu Assassin's - Fistful of Vengeance is a breathtaking odyssey of plot mediocrity, poorly filmed and edited action sequences and flat character moments. Saved in part by the natural beauty and scoping vista of Thailand's tropical locales, this Roel Reiné directed curiosity is perhaps worth your time if your time is cheap and you like gratuitous violence and nudity (honestly who doesn't).
For @EchoChamberFP https://www.instagram.com/echochamberfp/ this week, we went and gave you another 'TWO Parter'!!! In 'Part One' we take a look at the film sequel to 2019's 'Wu Assassins', and then a musical adaptation! 'Wu Assassins: Fistful Of Vengeance' is directed by Roel Reiné and written by Cameron Litvack, Jessica Chou & Yalun Tu. Kai Jin (Iko Uwais), a young Chinatown chef in present day San Francisco, becomes entangled with the Chinese Triad's pursuit of deadly ancient powers known as the "Wu Xing. 'Cyrano' is directed by Joe Wright and Erica Schmidt adapts her 2018 musical of the same name. It's a re-imagining the timeless tale of a heartbreaking love triangle. A man ahead of his time, Cyrano de Bergerac (Peter Dinklage) dazzles whether with ferocious wordplay at a verbal joust or with brilliant swordplay in a duel. But, convinced that his appearance renders him unworthy of the love of a devoted friend, the luminous Roxanne (Haley Bennett), Cyrano has yet to declare his feelings for her — and Roxanne has fallen in love, at first sight, with Christian (Kelvin Harrison, Jr). Thanks to Amazon Prime Video, there's comments on The Tick from Ben Edlund and Brian Josephson from the New York Priemere Red Carpet. I preview two different Marvel series next starting with Inhumans with director Roel Reiné and Greg Foster,CEO of Imax as the first episode will be on the big screen on September 1st. The next series is in the X-Men universe, sort of, called The Gifted with roundtable interviews with Amy Acker, Stephen Moyer and Coby Bell.
What better way to head into the Independence Day weekend than enlisting with the Slugs to check out 2009's The Marine 2. This little leathernecked nugget stars WWE's Ted DiBiase Jr., Michael Rooker, and Temura "Jango Fett" Morrison. This movie is wild, mild, and strangely watchable... but not that watchable. Come for the jittery action cams, stay for the sentient fireballs that chase DiBiase across a paradise resort where separatists have taken everybody but Ted hostage. Brant gets real hung up on continuity problems, while Ryan flexes his considerable WWE knowledge. It was directed by Roel Reiné, the mad genius behind the previously covered Pistol Whipped. The Marine 2 is available on Apple, Prime, and the usual places. P.S.— there's like 27 of these f#cking Marine sequels, so we'll definitely be back for more wrasslin' jingoism in a future deployment.

Roel's Album MONOTONIC DIVERSITY is available HERE. Roel Reiné is an accomplished action director. But when he isn't swinging lenses around flying fists and crashing cars, he is composing deeply meditative music through the manipulation of a raw electronic signal. EDM (electronic dance music) is as close a genre title as Roel can muster, but it cannot possibly describe what it is he does. Join Anson as he sits down to listen to some of Roel's music and ask the director about his journey from Holland to Hollywood. Additional music for this episode was provided by Steve Combs under a Creative Commons Attribution license.

GET READY FOR THE ULTIMATE CHALLENGE! NO GUTS, NO GLORY on episode 18 of ERIC ROBERTS IS THE MAN as we tear into two carefully chosen Eric Roberts masterpieces. First is the only film featuring Eric and Julia Roberts acting together – as well as Elias Koteas, Michael Madsen and Dennis Hopper's horrific Irish accent! It's 1989's BLOOD RED and it *sucks*! Thankfully, that's balanced by the glory of Wayne Newton, underground fighting, and a gigantic German man named Brakus! It's BEST OF THE BEST II, and while it's missing Eric Roberts' glorious hair from the first, it adds a TON of goofy stuff to make up for it. ALSO: we announce our new co-host and have a live BLOOD OATH! You're not gonna want to miss it. As always, check out ERIC ROBERTS IS THE MAN on Twitter, or come chat ER (or anything else) on our Facebook group. Liam O'Donnell is a gentleman, scholar and host of the Cinepunx podcast over at Cinepunx.com. You can find Liam on his Twitter feed @LiamRulz, and his writing occasionally appears over at cinapse.co. The film PHOENIX can currently be viewed on Netflix. Liam was right. It's really good. THE ROBERTS REPORT Out on DVD and Blu-Ray this week is THE CONDEMNED II from WWE studies, featuring pro-wrestler Randy Orton along with ERIC ROBERTS playing his dad. This is a sequel to a film that starred Stone Cold Steve Austin, and I know nothing about it aside from the plot, which is: A former bounty hunter who finds himself on the run as part of a revamped Condemned tournament, in which convicts are forced to fight each other to the death as part of a game that's broadcast to the public. Orton and director Roel Reiné previously worked together in the film 12 ROUNDS 2, which I *also* haven't seen. I have, however, seen the FIRST 12 ROUND movie with John Cena and it really, really sucked. ———————————– Over at ALLAFRICA.COM is an article entitled Ay Produces ‘Trip to Jamaica' for Jamaicans You may recall me mentioning the film A TRIP TO JAMAICA previously, and this article elaborates a bit on its creation. Popular Nigerian comedian, Ayo Makun, (AY), has said that his new movie “Trip to Jamaica” was inspired by his knowledge of how Jamaicans patronize Nigerian films. AY, who is the producer of the film, said the movie would hit the screen in months to come. In a chat with journalists, AY said he intended to take the film to the Jamaicans for the love they show the Nigerian movie industry. “They always want to watch our movies, so the best way to appreciate them back is to do something within their premise and create an aesthetic balance. This will make them like Nollywood even more,” AY said. He also said the movie would feature popular actor, Eric Roberts, who is well loved by the Jamaicans. I figure it's called A TRIP TO JAMAICA because that's why Eric Roberts is doing the film. ———– And finally on this week's ROBERTS REPORT.. Recently added to the Eric Roberts ever-expanding IMDB page is a film called Q-4 DREAM CORPORATION, a science fiction movie from director Tim McKort In “Q4 Dream Corporation” – a futuristic thriller about the government attempting to control people's sleeping habits – Madsen plays the role of antagonist Brandon Payton, who runs a corporation that is connected to manipulating people's dreams.
