Happy Wine Wednesday! We are back with another installment in our special series, The Pilot Project. Terence Johnson returns this week to discuss the pilot episode of one of our favorite guilty pleasure shows, True Blood. It turns out that Terence and I had a LOT to say about True Blood, so this week you will get our main discussion on the pilot and next week we will have a bonus spoiler segment in which Terence and I discuss the series as a whole. It's also worth noting that by the end of the first segment, a LOT of wine had been consumed and it shows. We kick things off by talking about what drew us to the True Blood pilot and whether either one of us read the source material. Of course we talk about the show's theme song and the very memorable opening sequence.Following that, we get into the Qs that need some As. We discuss the opening sequence and how Alan Ball introduced us to the world of Bon Temps. We also put a modern day lens on True Blood and discuss whether we would be open to dating a vampire and if we would have curiosity about vampire blood. You know we can't discuss a show about supernaturals or superheroes without sharing which special ability we would want.Of course we get into the Bill and Sookie of it all - their introduction, their chemistry, and the preview into their taboo love that we see in the pilot episode. In honor of Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer meeting and falling in love on the set of True Blood, we discuss some of our favorite couples who met on the set.We also get into the episode standouts, which of course includes a salute to the very talented Nelsan Ellis (RIP). We then give our final elevator pitch as to why you might want to continue watching True Blood and then things get thirsty! Thanks so much for listening! Sunil then produced SALT, starring Angelina Jolie and grossing $300 million. He is currently in post production on DISENCHANTED, a sequel to ENCHANTED for Disney Plus starring Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey. His most recent indie film is LAST SURVIVORS, starring Alicia Silverstone, Stephen Moyer and Drew Van Acker. Last Survivors is a dystopian thriller about a father and son living isolated, off the grid, in a frigid wilderness to keep safe from a decaying civilization. But their perfect mini-utopia is disrupted when the father is severely injured and his son must go on a hunt for life-saving medicine, where he encounters a mysterious woman, played by Silverstone. What you will learn: What it's like producing films for major film studios vs. indie films. Why his passion is in independent film. How seeing Dances With Wolves during his senior year at Stanford inspired him to drive to Hollywood to try to break into the film industry. The challenges he faced making Last Survivors in the frigid hills of Montana during the pandemic. Why Sunil likes to work with the same actors across multiple films. How SALT, which was originally developed as a vehicle for Tom Cruise, evolved into a film starring Angelina Jolie. How Sunil developed Enchanted “from scratch” and why he is so excited about the rollout of its sequel, Disenchanted, which he shot in Ireland recently. What projects Sunil currently has in the hopper and whether a sequel to Salt may be in the works. Resources: Sunil Perkash's IMDb, Instagram

Jacob Hopkins talks joining the "How To Train Your Dragon" universe, playing a vampire as a child, growing up on TV, and a few times casting told him to pack his bag....when he didn't need to!About Jacob:Jacob's big break came when he landed a role on the fifth season of the popular HBO series True Blood. In the critically acclaimed show, Jacob played Alexander Drew, the youngest (looking) member of the Vampire Authority. Having turned at the age of nine, his character was an impetuous vamp who liked to taunt those around him. Jacob shared the screen with fellow Authority chancellors Christopher Meloni, Peter Mensah, and Carolyn Hennesy as well as lead actors Alexander Skarsgard and his Priest co-star Stephen Moyer. At nineteen, he is making his mark in the voice over world. He voices the lead character, Fushi, an immortal being who takes on the form of deceased nameless boy in the anime series To Your Eternity. The show is based on the Japanese manga series of the same name and is airing now on Crunchyroll. He can also be heard on Netflix's Dragons: Rescue Riders as Axel Finke. The show is a spin-off of the fan favorite movie, How to Train Your Dragon. He also honed his comedic chops as the voice of Gumball Watterson in Cartoon Network's animated hit The Amazing World of Gumball, one of his favorite shows. The BAFTA Award-winning series chronicles the adventures of an amusing twelve-year-old cat with a fair for misadventure, and his extraordinary suburban family, who live in constant conflict with their ordinary town. The second highest-rated cartoon on the network, Gumball has been praised for its “first-rate silliness” and “really clever spin on domestic chaos” by Variety.Jacob is definitely no stranger to the small screen. Following his success on True Blood, he landed a recurring role on The Goldbergs. In this hilarious comedy, Jacob plays Chad Kremp, who is a cool and preppy kid on the surface, but a geek at heart. His character becomes instant friends with Adam Goldberg (Sean Giambrone) as they share a love for all things geeky. The series also stars Jeff Garlin and Wendi McLendon-Covey. Jacob was also seen in the Lifetime Movie Missing at 17, which tells the poignant tale of the struggles a family faces when their teenage daughter goes missing. As the younger brother Andrew, Jacob plays a pivotal role in helping his parents find his missing sister. Other notable television credits include guest roles on How I Met Your Mother as well as About A Boy and Animal Practice.Jacob has also ventured on to the big screen. His first feature film was Priest, where he had a small but memorable role opposite Paul Bettany and Stephen Moyer. Jacob also lent his talents to the short film The Boy Who Cried Fish, where he gave a moving performance as an autistic child. Jacob's performance was praised by fans and critics alike, earning him a "Best Male Performer" award at the Action on Film Festival. In Just a Little Heart Attack he played the very smart son of Elizabeth Banks, who also directed the project. He also starred as the supporting lead in CBS Films Middle School: Worst Years of My Life as Miller. Jacob further showcased his acting prowess in two web series. He was cast in RCVR, which was honored as Best Drama Web Series at the 2012 International Academy of Web Television Awards and Supermoms, where he co-starred opposite Joey Lauren Adams. Jacob will return to the world of film in Carolina's Calling, which stars Antonio Sabato Jr., Stacey Dash, and Savanah Moss.
