In a surprising move, Paramount has officially canceled the ambitious sci-fi series Halo after just two seasons, despite its devoted fan base and an improved second season. Based on the acclaimed video game, Halo follows Master Chief played by Pablo Schreiber and his AI companion Cortana played by Jen Taylor as they navigate a galactic war between humans and the alien Covenant. Despite mixed reviews and controversy over deviations from the source material, the show managed to gain traction. However, all hope is not lost; producers are exploring options to continue the series on another platform.

Original Air Date: Jun 07, 2022 Lisa has a really special guest joining her for this episode and they're doing something different today … It's time to talk about business! - One of the most important topics we don't talk much about as therapists. And to help Lisa out with this conversation, she has Jen Taylor who's going to be interviewing her on her business journey.  If you've ever wondered about Lisa and her entrepreneurial journey, what it took for her to build the Synergetic Play Therapy Institute or create this podcast, get ready for an insightful and inspiring conversation where you'll get to know Lisa a little more and get some business insights along the way. Tune in and hear the answers to some very fun questions such as: What was Lisa like as a child and how did this influence her becoming a business owner and entrepreneur? How did Lisa hone her craft as a teacher (...and some tricks she uses to manage the anxiety she has before she teaches or gets on stage- yes she still gets anxious!)? How did Lisa give herself permission to go after her dreams? (and ways you can too!) How did Lisa learn to tackle and work with her fears? How did Lisa reconcile the challenge and conflicting feelings of wanting to be of service and make money at the same time? How did Lisa come to learn about the ins-and-outs of business as a therapist? (...because it's not something we learn in graduate school) Why does she spend money on learning about business (the same way we do as therapists for training and certifications) and why did she take the same business course 4 times? What was the most valuable lesson Lisa learned as she reflected on some of the biggest unsuccessful business decisions she's ever made on her entrepreneurial journey?  Plus, hear answers to some more personal questions like: What is one of her favorite business books;  Her biggest pet peeve on the business journey; The worst business advice she's ever received; and The best advice she would give her younger self now. Listen to this episode and learn insight's from Lisa's journey on how to manage some of the learning curves, detours, and clunkiness of having a business, while continuing to stay focused on your dreams as the deepest expression of yourself. If you want more, join Lisa for The Business of Therapy, a 2.5 day live (and virtual hybrid) course on Nov 9-11, 2023. Lisa is so excited to get therapists in a room to teach them, not only the nuts and bolts of the business of therapy, but the psychology of being an entrepreneur - come learn how to write the book, launch the podcast, start your private practice or take your existing business to the next level! And something we do well as therapists is be in community - rallying around each other, playing, and bringing the conversation of business to life. *Some of you might be very familiar with Jen Taylor. She's done amazing things in this world and to support play therapists worldwide. She's a therapist, teacher and writer. Tune in as return guest Jackson Leight (creator of the satirical RWBY news website https://bumbleby.com) dives back into more RWBY content with Arthur. This time, they're focusing on RWBY: Ice Queendom, the 2022 spinoff series that anime studio Shaft produced for the Rooster Teeth web series RWBY. Primarily set between the events of Volumes 1 and 2, Ice Queendom is, to say the least, an interesting spinoff to dissect. Discussion topics include the spin-off weaving video game mechanics into its plot, the ways in which it succeeds and fails to adapt the original show's racism allegory, Weiss's dysfunctional family dynamic, and the introduction of a Nightmare Hunter named Shion Zaiden. Co-created by Rooster Teeth Productions and Shaft, RWBY: Ice Queendom stars: • Japanese cast: Saori Hayami, Yōko Hikasa, Yū Shimamura, Ami Koshimizu, Hiro Shimono, Aya Suzaki, Megumi Toyoguchi, Soma Saito, Kazuhiko Inoue, Masumi Asano, Soichi Abe, Megumi Han, Tomoaki Maeno, Kenyu Horiuchi, Shin-ichiro Miki, Hiroki Nanami, Madoka Shiga, Ayako Kawasumi, Marina Inoue, Ken Uo, Yuichi Nakamura, Arisa Sakuraba, and Kikuko Inoue. • English cast: Lindsay Jones, Kara Eberle, Arryn Zech, Barbara Dunkelman, Miles Luna, Samantha Ireland, Jen Brown, Neath Oum, Shannon McCormick, Tiana Camacho, Anthony Sardinha, Taylor McNee, Michael Jones, Burnie Burns, Christopher Wehkamp, Kdin Jenzen, Jason Douglas, Elizabeth Maxwell, Howard Wang, J. Michael Tatum, Garrett Hunter, John Swasey, and Jen Taylor. Spoilers start at 39:50 Note 1: during the start of the podcast, Arthur and Jackson spend a bit of time focusing on the bigotry that former Rooster Teeth employee Kdin Jenzen had endured for years at the company and the generally toxic work environment that we now know exists there. It's necessary to have this conversation, particularly since Jenzen is the voice of Shion in the English dub of Ice Queendom. If you want to skip past this talk and go straight into the Ice Queendom coverage, you're free to go to 13:10. However, it might be best to listen to the beginning portion anyways and get the context surrounding RT's current state. Note 2: this episode was recorded back in December, so it's not up-to-date on all the latest RWBY news, including the long-awaited release of Volume 9. The Halo Series on Paramount+ Review On today's episode of Grief Burrito Hazz is joined by Ryan from Kidnapped by Wizards to discuss their thoughts on the entire first season of Halo; the new original series on Paramount+ (using Amazon Prime for us UK viewers). The Halo Series story takes place in what's called the Silver Timeline, it stands in its own canon from the games and is an alternative telling. Following Master Chief (played by Pablo Schreiber), Kwan Ha (Yerin Ha), Miranda Keyes (Olive Gray), Danny Sapani as Captain Keyes, fan favourites Kate Kennedy as Kai -125 and the voice of Jen Taylor back as Cortana. The man in the big green Mjolnir Armor must do all he can to protect one and seek out another Forerunner Artifact before The Covenant led by brainwashed human Makee (played by Charlie Murphy) can find it.  Not before Dr. Catherine Halsey, played incredibly by Natasha McElhone and Margaret Parangosky will do all they can to twist John-117 to their will. In Part One we discuss our overall thoughts on the introduction to the series universe and the characters that live in it, in Part Two we discuss out series highlights and finally in Part Three we discuss what we see coming next and how we felt about the finale! Every episode of I Am Speaking w/ Shailushi and Kosha is special. We love all of our guests. Without their openness and honesty and willingness to be vulnerable, our show would be two sisters just razzing each other and talking about growing up in the middle of corn fields (that might be an awesome show but it is not *this* show.) Every so often we get a guest on the show that is amazing for a somewhat different reason. Today is one of those episodes: Jen Taylor is Kosha's best friend.  Jen's daughter Ava lives with ADHD, ODD, social anxiety and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Their family has been through the ringer with some of these challenges over the years, but Jen has learned, grown, and changed how she does things to help her daughter grow in a supportive and resourceful environment.  Jen's love for her family, her compassion for her daughter, and her frustration at the system at times comes through loud and clear in this conversation. Please also listen to her advice toward the end. Many times we ask “well can we do about it?” She offers one simple way we can help…and it all starts with a bit of introspection and compassion.

The Halo series has been a wild ride through the first two episodes. We've seen a maskless Chief, beautiful Reach and High Charity recreations, and everything in between. But after last week's rough episode, the show could only get better, right? Join us on a special episode of The Game Informer Show as we review "Emergence," the third entry of the new Paramount Plus show starring Master Chief and company. Alex Stadnik, Andrew Reiner, and Brian Shea are all back and ready to break down all the highs and lows of this week's episode. As a reminder, these reviews contain a complete discussion of what we saw, so we spoil everything from this episode and the previous ones. If you're not caught up, be sure to bookmark this page and come back when you've watched the show! Let's start with the good. "Emergence" finally gives us the show's version of Cortana, and we're happy to report she doesn't disappoint in her first live-action appearance. Jen Taylor returns to voice her iconic character, which may be the best decision the showrunners have made at this point. Jen's vocals are synonymous with the Halo feel and ground the series more in what we know, making us feel more at home in this version of the legendary game series. Building off that, Chief and Cortana's banter is already a highlight, producing the line of the show thus far when Dr. Halsey wants to introduce the two characters. It wasn't all perfect, though. The writing still struggles to recreate the feeling of Halo and produced a plethora of eye-rolling moments in this week's episode. The humanization of Chief continues but feels like a Disney Channel Original Movie more than something you'd find on prestige television. Also, the side characters have become even more of a frustration. The show works better when it focuses on what's presumably to come with the Halo rings in the (hopefully) near future, but instead, Soren and Kwan feel like portals to the past in a storyline we're not gelling with. To be clear, this episode is a sizable step up from last week's, but it still feels like there's a long way to go to reach the heights of the games that started it all. What do you think about Halo thus far? Be sure to let us know in the comments below. We'd also love your feedback on the extra GI Show episodes. Do you like them? Do you want to see us focus on games or the Marvel shows in the future? Please email us at podcast@gameinformer.com or reach out on Discord as we want to know what you think.

We've got another video game adaptation to hit, this time centering around the long awaited adaptation of the very popular series, "Halo." An American military science fiction television series developed by Kyle Killen and Steven Kane for the streaming service Paramount+, based on the video game franchise of the same name. It is produced by Amblin Television, 343 Industries, Showtime Networks, One Big Picture, and Chapter Eleven, and follows a 26th-century war between the United Nations Space Command and the Covenant, a theocratic-military alliance of several advanced alien races. Pablo Schreiber and Jen Taylor star as Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 and Cortana, with the latter reprising her role from the video game series, and are joined by Natascha McElhone, Yerin Ha, Bokeem Woodbine, Shabana Azmi, Olive Gray, Charlie Murphy, Kate Kennedy, Bentley Kalu, Natasha Culzac, and Danny Sapani. Development for a Halo television series began in 2013.[2] Killen was hired in June 2018, and the series officially announced a 9-episode order for Paramount+. Filming began in Ontario, Canada in October 2019, although post-production for the first five episodes was affected due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Filming eventually resumed in Budapest, Hungary in February 2021. Dom & Chris break down the troubled history of the production, what the adaptation does right versus wrong, whether video game adaptations will truly ever be great, and whether this show has legs going forward. Handling some of the emotions that surface during coaching sessions can be a delicate process. Some instances may lead you to even suspect trauma in the life of a client. What a some signs a caring coach should watch for to know if referral to a licensed therapist is needed? What can a coach do within their own coaching scope to further help a client? In this episode, Jen Taylor, a licenced trauma therapist with numerous credentials and training in multiple techniques, shares her insights and tips. As Jen and I spoke, one important point stuck out to me that Jen really felt to be most important as well. That is: the relationship a client develops with you is paramount to success. This is true whether a client is dealing with trauma or not. But since trauma is usually experienced within relationship, so can healing be experienced within relationship. So the more you can positively connect with a client, the more you can help them heal and improve their life, which is the goal of all coaching. What You'll Learn How Trauma is Defined and some Red-Flags of Potential Trauma An unintegrated response to a physical or emotional stressor The nervous system's overwhelm that marks trauma Belief whether or not we had agency over what happened Survival brain hijacking Emotional and physical symptoms to watch for, tracking body movements How to Tell the Difference between Trauma and Normal Life Ups and Downs How quickly does the person recover from an upset? Does the person feel overwhelmed and powerless or do they feel they have agency? Is it impacting their daily life? How to Incorporate Help Within the Scope of Coaching Help clients develop the ability to be a witness of their own cognitive, emotional and somatic experiences (often referred to as decoupling) Increase curiosity to put distance between circumstance and response Encourage regulation and staying connected with self during disregulation The Top-Down Approach Versus the Bottom-Up Approach The brain creates thoughts and feelings and sends those down to the body; but the body also creates feelings and sends them up to the brain (how it is all interconnected) Using the body as an ally instead of an enemy Staying with the emotions that are coming up, creating space How to settle into, and make use of, a sensorial response Contact Info and Recommended Resources Meet Jen Taylor, MA, LPCC Jen is a somatic trauma therapist, specializing in EMDR Therapy, Sensorimotor Therapy, and Assisted Psychotherapy.
