Deborah Frontiera's Living on Sisu: The 1913 Union Copper Strike Tragedy is a compelling novel for young adult readers which follows the adventures and experiences of twelve-year-old Emma Neimi and her family and community who are caught up in the 1913-14 strike in thecopper district of Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula. Sponsored by Modern History Press, Moravian Sons Distillery @moraviansons and Doc Chavent. Frontiera has done an excellent job of exploring the history of the strike through Emma's diary which follows all the key event and issues in the strike, including the false call of fire which caused the death of seventy-three (sic.), primarily children of those attending a Christmas Eve party for strikers' families. An audio book is also available. Listen in for a chance to win a signed copy of Living on Sisu. Copyright (c) 2026. Emma Blogs, LLC. All rights reserved.

I see it every single time. Great product. Solid branding. Ads running. And yet it won't scale. Conversions are flat, the economics don't work, and the founder is convinced it's the creative or the funnel or the targeting. It's never the ads. It's the offer. Here's the problem: most founders spend 90% of their time perfecting the product and almost no time on the complete package around it. The framing, the bundle, the guarantee, the AOV. And without that, no amount of ad spend is going to save you. In this episode, I break down what a deliberately engineered offer actually looks like, why getting it right is the single biggest unlock for scaling, and the real-world examples from our Foundr Operators members and the brands spending $100K-plus a day that prove it. Here's what you'll take away: Why conversion problems are almost always an economics and offer problem, not a product, creative, or funnel problem How IM8 turned a supplement powder into an irresistible offer and why every element of their bundle is deliberately engineered How Foundr Operators member Emma tripled her brand's revenue with Sisu without increasing traffic, just by rebuilding her offer The AOV floor every e-commerce brand needs to hit before paid ads can scale profitably What makes an offer feel risk-free: guarantees, social proof, returns policy, and friction reduction done right Why your customer isn't buying a product. They're buying certainty, value, and the feeling that this is the obvious choice If your ads aren't scaling and your conversion rate isn't moving, stop tweaking your creative and start here. Getting the offer right is the thing that changes the trajectory, and everything else gets easier once it clicks. If you're loving this solo series, I'd love to hear your feedback.

Weiterhin im Blutranking ganz oben dabei: „Daredevil: Born Again“ S2, „The Boys“ S5 und „Kill Bill – The Whole Bloody Affair“.

She taught in Houston public schools from 1985 until 2008 and then taught creative writing part-time for Houston's WITS (Writers In The Schools) program. Upon retirement from teaching, she and her husband moved back to her beloved U.P., but they head south during part of the winter to be with their daughters and grandchildren. This week on HealthTech Hour, Steve sits down with Sam Fay, CEO of SISU Health, who is leading the mission to make preventative health more accessible across the UK.With 25 years of experience in strategic transformation and senior leadership, Sam has a strong track record of scaling organisations and delivering measurable impact — and she brings that operator's lens to one of the biggest challenges in healthcare today: shifting the system from treating illness to preventing it.Sam is particularly passionate about using innovation and data to tackle health inequalities and improve outcomes at scale, and we get into what that looks like in practice — what's actually working, where the system gets stuck, and how SISU is building for reach rather than just reach for those who already engage with healthcare.Outside of work, Sam is a keen outdoor adventurer — long walks with her Ridgeback, skiing, and coastal escapes when the diary allows.A practical, grounded conversation with one of the leaders putting preventative health within reach of the people who need it most.Follow HealthTech Hour for more conversations with the founders, operators and builders shaping the future of UK health and tech.

We kick off todays episode with some week day adventures, where a man was questioning my shopping choices when they had really questionable shopping choices. From there i speak about my big mouth setting me up for failure (pause). The same way i talk with y'all i talk the same around my coworkers and it led to an awkward encounter and people thought i was shooting shots at them. Than we end the section with me telling y'all i went to do some job training and I noticed i think i have a learning disability, and my teachers may have been right ( 00:00 - 24:15 )In the movie review section we talk about film movies and other things and give the worse takes. This week we're critiquing the movie “ Sisu 2” if you haven't seen Sisu 1 you're not really missing out. This is an over the top action film that is a mixture of Mad Max, Snow Piercer and slightly a silent film, but just for the main character.( 24:16 - 34:48 )I then jump into The Cool Report where we discuss how El Chapo is tired of us and wants to go home, he said he promises he won't escape again, scouts promise. We than talk about the Stefon Diggs case, and how he was acquitted of accusations. Which led to the conversation of can we get people that make these fake accusation charged with some sort of crime. We then jump into Akash Singh stepping away from the Flagrant 2 podcast, and it seems like he is still dealing with the aftermath of the controversy surrounding his wife. I do wish him the best because i like his stand up. ( 34:49 - 01:02:32 )We then step into a segment where the listeners ask me 3 questions about myself or just randomness. A character wants to know if i would clap vampire cheeks from the last episode, the answer if yes, does a vampire wear sunglasses at night. We then jump into the hip hop media ranking, and that top 5 was off for me. Then we get one more question which is what is more personal, handing out your social media or phone number. I know bought question but I shall answer.( 01:02:33 - 01:22:18 )Then we have 2 fans ask us a questions for PTL where we get asked the tough questions where we place ourselves in their shoes. A lover has a question about the one question that keeps coming back and back on why men aren't persistent anymore when trying to court them, they feel men have given up on trying to meet them. Another lover wants togo back to the days where we judge people before we get to know them, and as messed up as it sounds… sometimes there are signs to RUN AWAY!!!!!( 01:22:19 - 01:35:36 )THE FINThanks to everyone that shows us love and wish y'all the best on the journey called life.( 01:35:37 - 01:37:13 )please continue to like, share, comment and subscribe. We just watched the original Sisu from 2022 and our minds are completely blown by this absolute rollercoaster of a film! Basil and Keo are here for a new Flix and Giggles review to break down this masterpiece that essentially drops a ruthless protagonist right into the middle of World War II. We talk about the insane cinematography, the incredible performance by Jorma Tommila as the unstoppable gold miner Aatami Korpi, and the sheer creativity of the incredibly brutal fight scenes. The man simply refuses to die, and the practical effects alongside his pure determination had us cheering at the screen the entire time. This film perfectly sets up a gritty, unforgiving world, and it is easily one of the most wild and satisfying movies we have covered on the channel, leaving us absolutely hyped and counting down the days until we can watch the sequel.
Braga, King, and Ski talk Sisu: Road To Revenge, the follow up to the cult classic from 2023. Aatami tries to bring his family home back to Finland, while the Russian commander who killed his family tries to finish the job. It's short, it's insane action - is it any good? Listen!

Stāsta Latvijas Stratēģijas un ekonomikas risinājumu institūta (LaSER) pētnieks Roberts Kits. Producente Liene Jakovļeva. Valsts aizsardzība ir gan valsts institūciju, gan iedzīvotāju kopīga atbildība. To paredz visaptverošas valsts aizsardzības pamatprincipi, kurus Latvija ievieš kopš 2019. gada. Ja, piemēram, Zviedrija laika posmā no 2010. līdz 2017. gadam iedzīvotājus neiesauca, tad Somija šo sistēmu saglabāja bez pārtraukumiem. What if the greatest thing being stolen from you right now… isn't your money, your data, or your privacy, but your attention? In this powerful solo episode, Darin pulls back the curtain on the modern attention economy and how your time, focus, and creative energy are being quietly redirected—often without you even realizing it. From social media algorithms to behavioral psychology, this episode exposes how distraction has become the default and why reclaiming your attention is the first step toward reclaiming your life. Drawing from ancient wisdom, global travel experiences, and decades of personal experimentation, Darin introduces a new framework: Inner Peace Architecture, a practical, actionable system for taking back control of your mind, your habits, and your future. There's always hope. You can't say the word hope without smiling. Hope is that ability to get up and go again. The Finnish have word for it--SISU. What it means is white-knuckle courage in the face of overwhelming odds. When everything is lost, the spirit of SISU manifests itself. And for me SISU means relentless resilience. I'm incredibly stubborn and the idea of ever giving up never crossed my mind. I had to prove that they were wrong. That they could never break me. Dr. John A. New episode on the Sisu Lab Podcast! In this conversation, I speak with my dear friend and Aikido teacher Richard Moon (6th dan black belt), who has practiced the art for more than 50 years and has applied its principles in leadership development and conflict resolution around the world. We explore Aikido not only as a martial art but as "a way of being that can be used (also) for martial arts." It's an embodied practice for building innate capacities necessary for harmonious relating between people, who all have egos and differing agendas. Beyond a practice that will give you a healthy and awake body, it's a practice that can develop inner balance, harmony, and increase emotional intelligence. The ability to not only endure pressure, but also act wisely under pressure. To transform our inner discord so that we don't transmit it to others when we are stressed. It's about getting aware of our energy and its impact on others. In addition to applying and experimenting with a variety of somatic practices to explore their impact, Aikido is central to developing my ability to self-regulate my energy, calm my mind, and become aware of my own internal unprocessed stuff, so that it doesn't become the 'stuff' in my relationships. It has become one of the core ways to learn self-management, do personal development work, and, quite frankly, stay sane in these times. There are many ways to self-know; this one is dear to me, and I warmly encourage everyone to find theirs. So, in this conversation, Richard shares insights from decades of practice on how the principles of harmony, connection, and awareness of our energy can transform how we meet challenges and live better. He talks about aikido as "harmonizing ourselves with the universe" - and explains what the heck that means in real life. : ) The conversation at times goes into anecdotes that might feel relevant to those already practicing aikido, but as you listen in, there are gems that I believe can be inspiring to anyone. You can find out more about Richard's thoughts on Aikido via his YouTube channel at @moonsensei. You can, for example, start with this video, which is one of my personal favorites. Richard's book Quantum Aikido: The Power of Harmony can be found at www.quantumaikido.com. It's also available in Finland through Suomalainen Kirjakauppa. Links to show below!Thank you again, Richard, for what you are and what you bring. Send us a textHelping too much creates helplessness. In this episode, we expose how rescuing, overfunctioning, and emotional buffering quietly weaken confidence and reinforce victim thinking. We unpack why stepping in feels responsible, loving, and necessary in the moment, yet slowly teaches people to question their own competence and resilience. Through real stories and psychologically grounded insight, we challenge the habits that turn support into sabotage. This episode is for parents, partners, leaders, and growth-minded humans who want to empower instead of enable, guide instead of control, and build strength that holds under pressure. New pod episode is up! I met with leadership coach and community builder Joppe Quaedvlieg for a conversation about communication and what it actually takes to create trust, safety, and belonging in our relationships.Joppe is the creator of Descriptive Communication, a practical approach to expressing what we want and need in ways that others can actually understand. His work grew out of lived experience: years of not knowing what he wanted, learning to people-please, and eventually realizing how much of our suffering and lost opportunity results from not being able to express ourselves clearly, to ourselves or to others. It's about using language more clearly, but even more, sometimes, it is about presence and the sisu to be real with each other. We talked about topics like:

Send us a textAnnie stops by the show to discuss music, how Loki's Folly came together, anxiety, new music and more.******‘Retribution' is a song looking at the parallels of extreme sides of emotions and how we react to difficult things,” says Annie Kuchenmeister, guitarist and singer for Loki's Folly, the Minneapolis-based indie-punk trio made up of sisters Annie (24), Nissa (19) and their brother Oskar (15). “The verses are an exploration of defensive and protective anger - wanting to hurt those who hurt you. While there's gratification and justification to seeking retribution, the chorus creates a vulnerable opposition to these harsher feelings. It's really about just not wanting to be alone forever and wanting to be cared for after being hurt.” At its core, “Retribution” channels raw emotional honesty through the band's trademark blend of kinetic guitar work, cathartic drumming, and melodic grit - a sonic space where fury meets tenderness head-on. “This song came out of a lot of feelings of frustration and anger,” Annie continues. “Dealing with those big emotions can be hard, and I really didn't want to be consumed by them. So, this song became a way to lay everything bare - the good and the bad - and explore it all honestly. The music and lyrics really came together as a unit; as the melody came about, an old lyric idea immediately clicked.”Following on the heels of their September 2025 single (“King of All Alone”),” “Retribution” continues Loki's Folly's evolution toward deeper, more introspective songwriting. This reflective thread connects “King of All Alone” and “Retribution,” both songs were produced by Ryan Smith of Soul Asylum and born from turbulent emotional spaces that transform struggle into strength. Where “King of All Alone” aches with longing and cautious optimism, “Retribution” pushes back with defiant honesty - together forming a striking one-two punch from a band unafraid to confront both the chaos and the catharsis of modern life. Formed in South Minneapolis, Loki's Folly began as a project between sisters Annie and Nissa, later joined by their younger brother Oskar on bass. Their bond - both familial and creative - gives their music a distinct urgency, weaving together themes of identity, isolation, neurodivergence, and resilience. On their debut Sisu, the band worked with legendary producers Ryan Smith (of Soul Asylum), Ed Ackerson (The Replacements, The Jayhawks), Kevin Bowe (Etta James, Jonny Lang), and John Fields (Jonas Brothers, Andrew W.K.), crafting a record that explored the complexities of adolescence and the emotional weight of finding one's voice in an uncertain world. While Sisu introduced listeners to their youthful defiance and eclectic spirit, “Retribution” feels like a step into something more introspective - a song that acknowledges the anger beneath the surface, but also the fragile hope that lingers within it. It's a fitting next chapter for a band growing up in public, unafraid to document the messy process of becoming. For more info about the band: https://lokisfolly.com/****If you would like to contact the show about being a guest, please email us at Dauna@bettertopodcast.comFollow us on Social MediaInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/author_d.m.needom/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/bettertopodcastwithdmneedomIntro and Outro music compliments of Fast Suzi©2025 Better To...Podcast with D. Scott Barry Kaufman is a big inspiration to me in research and the human sciences. He is a humanistic psychologist, the creator of self-actualization coaching, and simply a refreshing person who brings a sense of “keeping it real” to the world of self-development.Scott is a professor of psychology at Columbia University, the director of the Center for Human Potential, and among the top 1% most-cited scientists in the world for his research on intelligence and creativity (= wow, the academic sisu this has required). He also hosts The Psychology Podcast. With over 25 million downloads, it's one of the leading psychology podcasts globally.Scott's foundation lies in humanistic psychology, which emphasizes the importance of meaning, wholeness, and the lived experience of being human. Rather than sinking into all sorts of neurosis over what the ego likes to label as “good–bad” or “right–wrong,” this perspective invites us to feel into all the complexity (and wonder) that comes with being human. We spoke about a wide range of topics, such as creativity, human potential, feeling like an impostor at times (and why it can actually be a good thing), his hopes and hesitations about the future, and what it means to be true to your heart.Last year, Scott published his 11th (!) book, Rise above! You can explore Scott's work and many valuable resources at scottbarrykaufman.com. I warmly recommend checking it out. The site is a treasure trove of insight. The conversation we had moved something in me, which I felt afterward. What I can make of it is that witnessing authenticity stirs us, brings us closer to our center and to each other. It feels grounded and safe, and we are indeed finely tuned to sense it.Especially in the context of a recorded conversation, where we tend to seek to perform and give “the right answers” (which is, of course, very human), it felt beautiful to witness such realness. The discussion brought back a thought my Aikido teacher once shared with me: “It's easy to be clever. It's much harder to be loving.”Thanks for listening and for being part of the sisu journey
