Today's Talmud pages, Sanhedrin 101 and 102, kick things off with a strange warning: whoever reads a verse from the Song of Songs and renders it in the form of a secular song introduces evil into the world. Rabbi Dovid Bashevkin joins us to explain this quizzical yet profoundly important statement. What precious advice about love and marriage were the rabbis giving us with this prohibition? Listen and find out.
Paul McCartney certainly knows how to stay busy! 2 weeks ago Paul "Rocked The Bowery Ballroom" and closed out the 50th Anniversary of SNL! Today, 26th February 2025 he announced the forthcoming release of his OWN book titled: "Wings: The Story of a Band On The Run." The press release: As the Sixties came to a close, Paul was faced with the daunting prospect of being a solo artist for the first time. Wings' ascension to the top of the charts with classic albums including Band on the Run, Venus and Mars and At the Speed of Sound, along with the band's stadium-filling live shows would prove to critics and fans that not all great acts are impossible to follow. Wings:The Story of a Band on the Run is a rousing, stereophonic celebration of the songs, collaborations and performances that would shape the soundtrack of the late 20th century. Drawn from over 500,000 words, based on dozens of hours of interviews with Paul and numerous key players in the band's orbit, Wings: The Story of a Band on the Run weaves together the improbable trajectory of Paul McCartney and his newly formed band (featuring co-founding members Linda McCartney and Denny Laine) across the technicolor 1970s until their dissolution in 1981. Edited by the prize-winning historian Ted Widmer and organized around nine Wings albums, the oral history sheds new light on the immediate aftermath of the seismic global impact of The Beatles' break-up, as the musical landscape and tastes began to splinter and diverge along with societal views. The narrative follows the various incarnations of the band as they survive a mugging in Nigeria, appear unannounced at UK university halls, tour in a sheared-off school bus with their children, while producing some of the most indelible and acclaimed music of the decade, including: “Mull of Kintyre,” “Live and Let Die,” “Band on the Run,” “My Love,” “Jet,” “With a Little Luck,” “Silly Love Songs,” “Let ‘Em In,” “Junior's Farm” and more. With more than 100 black-and-white and color photographs, many never seen before, Wings: The Story of a Band on the Run is part of a larger reexamination and appreciation of the group and their catalog, including the 2024 theatrical release of the rare Wings live-in-studio performance film One Hand Clapping and its accompanying album; 50th anniversary editions of the Wings albums Band on the Run (released February 2024) and Venus and Mars (releasing March 2025); and a forthcoming documentary on Paul McCartney's solo and Wings-related musical work of the 1970s from Academy Award-winning filmmaker, Morgan Neville. 2025 is shaping up to be a FANTASTIC year for all of us Macca-diehards!

Intro music: Samplefocus.comUsage: Standard licenseStory and Cover art by: Gail NoblesYou didn't think podcasting could have an AM radio sound, did you? Well, I suppose in this digital age, sound quality is king, but let's not forget the charm of those crackly, static-filled airwaves we grew up with. Ah, the golden days of radio! There's something about tuning in to your favorite station, praying that the signal comes in clear so you can enjoy the music without the distraction.Once a radio station ceases to exist, it's as if the very spirit of its history diappears. It's left like a whisper in the wind—only lingering in the minds of those who once tuned in. Take WHIT, for instance. There I was, a little girl in the 70s, listening to what felt like magic coming from a car radio as I enjoyed a ride. I have a notion that it was an AM station, broadcasting from somewhere that felt like a world away.I can almost hear the strains of Randy Newman's “Short People” floating through the air, mixed with the smooth vibe of Paul McCartney's “Silly Love Songs.” There was Charlie Dore crooning “Pilot of the Airwaves,” and Debbie Boone telling me, “You Light Up My Life.” How can I forget Melisa Manchester's “Don't Cry Out Loud,” or Candi Staton's “Run, Heart, Run Free”, and Yvonne Elliman's “If I Can't Have You.” Now, I don't know if I heard all these hits on WHIT specifically, but the memories are neatly tucked away with that station. And let's not overlook the charismatic Wolfman Jack—how could we forget the man who owned the airwaves? He spun records with the enthusiasm only a true radio DJ could muster.AM radio might have been fuzzier than a cat's fur, and the static could drive you nuts, but there was a certain warmth to those imperfect sounds. The music managed to shine through the noise, and that's what made it special. I didn't care about the interference; I was too busy lost in the melodies that carried my dreams.
More of our thoughts on the "Life in Lyrics" podcast. Martin Quibell and I discuss Episodes 6, 7, and 8. The episodes are entitled "Silly Love Songs", "A Day in the Life" and "Hey Jude". However, roughly fifteen different songs get covered within the three episodes...
From his earliest days as a songwriter, Paul McCartney was interested in love songs. But by the time of Wing's 1976 album “At the Speed of Sound” McCartney had become tired of critics suggesting that was all he wrote. And so he wrote the album's lead single, a defiant anthem about the importance of love in our lives, and named it “Silly Love Songs.” Through discussing this song with Paul Muldoon, McCartney also touches on some of the other love songs in his catalogue: “Can't Buy Me Love,” “All My Loving,” “I Will” and one he wrote for his wife, Nancy —”My Valentine.” “McCartney: A Life in Lyrics” is a co-production between iHeart Media, MPL and Pushkin Industries. The series was produced by Pejk Malinovski and Sara McCrea; written by Sara McCrea; edited by Dan O'Donnell and Sophie Crane; mastered by Jason Gambrell with assistance from Jake Gorski and sound design by Pejk Malinovski. The series is executive produced by Leital Molad, Justin Richmond, Lee Eastman and Scott Rodger. They find emblematic rivals in different categories: history, politics, fiction, business, sports, music, etc. Sometimes the foes just want to best the other no matter what and, other times, the world benefits from the output generated by the competition (e.g., “Let it Be” is a gazillion times better than “Silly Love Songs”). Ways to connect with Jenna~ instagram.com/jennakimjones couplefriendspodcast.com twitter.com/jennakimjones You're listening to the Love Tidbits Podcast, where you'll discover a small, tasty, delightful, bite-sized tidbit of love. I'm your host, LeAnn Austin Hey y'all, welcome to Love Tidbits, episode #12: Silly Love Songs with Jenna Kim Jones I love observing and connecting with other humans, especially noting how they feel and implement love into their life. We have the amazing Jenna Kim Jones sharing some beautiful love insights with us today. So Jenna, why don't you briefly introduce yourself. Jenna: Hello! Well thank you so much for having me, LeAnn. You are such a great friend and I'm thrilled to be here and I'm excited about your podcast. So I'm happy to be here. I am a professional stand-up comedian. I've been doing comedy for 10 years. I live in Georgia, and I've only lived in Georgia for four and a half years, but I love it. I'm trying to make it my home. I'm like, I don't want to go anywhere. It's fabulous. I have three kids, I'm married, and that's pretty much...Oh, and I podcast, I also podcast. So, yeah, I have a great career, and a great family, and you know, every day is just a journey. I'm just plugging along. Like everybody else. LeAnn: I love that. Yes, we're all living the dream, right? Awesome. Alright, well I've got three questions for you today, and the first one is: How do you incorporate love into your business and/or your life? Jenna: Okay. This is a great question. I am a comedian. Okay, and I love being a comedian. So I'll just start right then. I did not know I would be a comedian. It was not a life goal of mine. I fell into it after college and I felt like I found my love language. That is my jokes are my love language. I think sometimes people get an idea about comedy because a lot of times it's kind of edgy, or maybe it can feel mean-spirited, but I try to make sure that my comedy is fun and light. And do I make fun of things? Absolutely. But my intention is never to hurt anybody. My intention is literally just to point stuff out and have a great time. So like I said, jokes are my love language. If I'm teasing you, if I'm making jokes around you, you know, I've got you back. LeAnn: Well, I've been able to go to one of your shows and it was amazing, the best. And I love that you do make it fun and light and so good. Awesome. Jenna: Well, that's sort of, I just don't like to, I think comedy sometimes gets a, people get the idea like, oh, you're going to make fun of me, or you're going to, you know, step into places I don't want to hear about or whatever it might be. Maybe I'm not expressing that well, but the idea is I try to just make it fun. Life is supposed to be fun. Life is really hard for a lot of people. Life is challenging, but I think it's important regardless of what's going on to have a little bit of fun. LeAnn: Yes. Totally agree. I love it. Jenna: Oh and sorry, I could just talk forever. LeAnn, you invited the wrong person on your podcast. Okay, I don't want to not say this, I took some notes so that I wouldn't forget because I just had a baby like seven months ago and I'm still in that like foggy brain space. So I do have some notes. So, I have a podcast as well. I said that already, and it's called Couple Friends and I do it with my husband and he is hilarious and he's wonderful. And I will, this is so corny to say, but he really is the love of my life. Um, I hate myself for saying it, but he is, okay. And to the point where let's get real, I told him if I die early in some horrible tragedy, I can't have you remarrying anyone. Okay, because I'm just going to be way too jealous. I'm going to have to come back and haunt you. It's a whole thing. So we just got to hope that life is long together. But we do a podcast together, and it's purely dedicated to just being silly and lighthearted and fun. We do not take on the world's problems in our podcasts. We like to think we are a break from the world's problems. And, I think when people listen to that, you can tell that we're just here to like spread the love. LeAnn: I so, so, so agree with that because I love listening to your podcast and listening to you and Al, and learning all these fascinating things like today when I listened, I heard that Al plays volleyball. I had no clue that he does that. So it is, I love that it's just fun and loving and light and oh, you guys are just beautiful examples of, of doing that. So thank you. Alright, so number two: what is something you love about you and why? Jenna: Ooh, these, this is a hard one. Cause you know I just want to be self-deprecating all the time, but, that's just what I like to do. But I do, I will say that I do like an adventure, so not like put me up in the sky and throw me out of an airplane kind of adventure. No, no, no, no. I'm a huge baby. I don't want to do that. That scares me. I don't even like roller coasters. That's not the adventure I'm talking about. I'm talking like, I like a little bit of a challenge, a little bit of a, like, can I pull this off? Will I be able to pull this off? I don't know. For example, I mentioned already that I had a baby and I had a little bit of work that I needed to do after I had the baby. So it was only two months after he was born. I was like, can I go do this work? Can I take my three children on an airplane by myself? With the two month old. Sure. Why not? And we did, and we flew and we had a great, uh, it wasn't really a vacation, but I got to do a little bit of work. I got to have my kids with me. I had some help from my mom. Don't worry. I wasn't completely alone here. And for my husband, But, I had to fly by myself and those kinds of my husband always thinks I'm crazy, cause he'll say like, I don't know about you, you like see hard things and you're like, let's try it. Let's just see if we can do it. It'll be great, and I think that that's helped me in stand up. Especially with my career in comedy, because I, when I first started was terrified of it, like to a point where 24 hours before I knew I was going to go on stage, I would be filled with anxiety. I'd be terrified. I would, all I could think about was, I can't believe I'm going to go on stage and I would want to, and I would want to bail out. I would think to myself, like, just don't you could just not do it. You know, you could just not do it. But then I would say to myself, no no, do it, you have to do it. This is an adventure. This is a challenge. Do it. So I think in the end, it's paid off. I get to do shows now, I have comedy specials. I have a really good work-life balance with my kids. And, but it took a lot of those moments of like, this seems really hard and scary. I think I should do it. LeAnn: Ah, I love that, because for me it's almost like if I feel like I'm going to throw up, then that means I should go ahead and do it. It's like adventurous, like, ah, that's awesome. It's horrible. What am I doing? I'm doing it. I love that, what an awesome quality that you have. Alright. K, so before I ask you the last question, anything else you want to share and where can our audience go to find out more about you? Jenna: Oh, I love that, well, like I said, I'm a standup comedian and a podcaster, so I would love for you to check out my podcast. It's called Couple Friends. Like I said, it's like a break. We, Allen and I tease that, you know, Murder podcasts are really the most popular kind of podcast and people just love a good murder mystery. And I say, you can only take so much of that. Alright, so listen to your murder podcasts, and then listen to my podcast where you'll have a light happy time. No darkness. LeAnn: I love it. Yes. Jenna: So, listen to LeAnn for the Love Tidbits, and then come over to mine and it's called Couple Friends. You can find out all about it at couplefriendspodcast.com. And then of course, follow me on social media. My full name is @ Jenna Kim Jones, and that's where my handle is everywhere. LeAnn: Okay, perfect, and we'll put that into the show notes as well. Yeah, go ahead. Jenna: I don't know when this is coming out LeAnn, is it coming out soon? Oh, nevermind then. Okay. LeAnn: Alright. Okay, so for the last question: what is your favorite question or quote about love? Jenna: Oh, okay. So full disclosure. I read this question and I went like, blank, crickets. I got nothing. What? I don't have any questions about love. Do I have a favorite quote about love? How do I know anything about love? So then I decided, okay, I'm going to do a little internet research. And for me, my first instinct was like, go to music, go to love songs, go to silly songs. And then of course the comedian kicked in and I was like, oh, my favorite quote is of course Bon Jovi: you give love a bad name. No, no, no. Take out the sarcasm. Okay, what am I really going for here? So I realize, there's a song, Paul McCartney wrote it, popular song from a few decades back. And, it's called Silly Love Songs. And the lyrics of that song, the beginning, very beginning says, "You'd think that people would have had enough of silly love songs. I look around me and I see it isn't so. Some people want to fill the world with silly love songs and what's wrong with that?" So, not only do I have a quote here, there's a question, "What's wrong with that?" Why can't we just love and love and love? Alright, so I really love that song and I love that whole sentiment, because I don't think you can ever, stop finding reasons to feel love or be loved or, you know, find happiness in love or whatever it might be. Sometimes you just like to listen to sad love songs, because that feels good to, you know, but what I'm really trying to say is I like the sentiment of that song. And then I thought, you know, I wonder why Paul McCartney wrote this song. So I dug a little bit deeper. And the reason he wrote this song was, he felt that this, and this is just according to the internet, maybe it's not true. I'm going to go with it's true because it feels good to me and what I'm trying to say. But apparently according to what I researched, he wrote the song as a rebuttal to people who were critical of his music. People who had criticized him for writing what they called light-weight love songs. There's an author who suggested that this song, Silly Love Songs was written because McCartney's like inviting people to have a little bit of a laugh and to be a little bit lighthearted and silly. I love that, I all of a sudden went like this is a fabulous song and completely feels right to me, because as a comedian, I am often criticized, because of the material that I choose. I'm very lighthearted, very silly. I tease about my husband, my kids, my life. I've had comedians, oh, and I'm a very clean comedian. I don't do edgy or blue comedy, and I've had people criticize me for that because they say, well, you don't go like deep enough into people's problems. Your life is too happy, sunshine. You don't have any like real raw, meaty things that you talk about. And I thought, I always think like, but why do we need more of that? And so I love this song. It actually has more meaning to me now because I go like, hey, why can't we just have lots of silly love songs? Why can't we just tell silly jokes? Why can't we just be a little bit lighthearted sometimes? So that is my new favorite go-to about love. LeAnn: Jenna, I love that. And silly love songs. Hmmm y'all, something to think about. Thank you. Thank you, Jenna, for sharing your tidbits of love with us. Have a good one y'all and here's to love~ If you would like to become an expert at loving yourself, check out my Lovin Me Program at leannaustin.com

Believe it or not, Fly Like an Eagle is the ninth studio album by the Steve Miller Band. Guitarist, lead singer, and founder Steve Miller got his start in Chicago playing the blues. He formed the Steve Miller Blues Band after moving to San Francisco in 1966, and shortened it to the Steve Miller Band not long after its formation. The band started with a psychedelic rock feel in their first albums, transitioning to a more straightforward rock sound with the 1973 album The Joker, and continuing with their 1976 release, Fly Like an Eagle. This album was largely written by Miller who also produced it and provided vocals, guitar, and keyboards. Additional personnel were Lonnie Turner on bass, and Gary Mallaber on percussion. Miller was not satisfied with the recording studios where he had recorded previous albums, and built his own studio at his home in the Pacific Northwest where he would record his next album. This also explains the multi-year break between The Joker and Fly Like an Eagle. The Steve Miller Band had experienced commercial success with the album The Joker, but Fly Like an Eagle would take that success to a new level with three hit singles. Fly Like an Eagle would eventually be certified quadruple platinum, and Rolling Stone would declare it the best album of 1976.Both this album and the next, 1977's Book of Dreams were recorded at the same time. However, Miller decided to release the two as separate albums rather than as a double album. Both would be hits, and would constitute the heart of commercial success from the Steve Miller Band along with 1973's The Joker." Take the Money and RunThe first single from the album tells the story of Billy Joe and Bobby Sue, a Bonnie-and-Clyde set of criminals, and the Texas police officer chasing them. It is a road trip song, inspired by Miller's trips with family, listening to the radio in the car.Wild Mountain HoneyThis song is a slower and deeper cut off the album, and hearkens back to the psychedelic Steve Miller Band days. "You run for the money but you don't even know about wild mountain honey." Miller plays the sitar on this track. SerenadeA serenade from the stars! Another deep track, the song's message appears to be both local and cosmic. The guitar has a Spanish feel that gives off a road trip - and trippy - vibe as it switches between major and minor chords. There's also a bit of a lag between the lyrics and the musical beat which gives it an unusual style.Rock'n MeThe second single from the album hit number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Miller said he was inspired by Free's "All Right Now," and it was an anthem for large concert venues. Calling out the cities of the tour was sure to be a crowd pleaser. ENTERTAINMENT TRACK:"Gene Gene, the Dancing Machine from the television series “The Gong Show”This show was raw comedy and a staple of syndicated afternoon reruns when we were growing up. Gene Gene, the Dancing Machine was a technician on the show who would come out and do a dance routine toward the end of the show. Bad, but in a good way. STAFF PICKS:Fool To Cry by the Rolling StonesBrian leads off the staff picks with a mellow number from Mick Jagger and company off the Rolling Stones Black and Blue album. It was the only song from the album to chart. In this ballad, Jagger is talking to his daughter at first, then his lover, and both tell him the same thing - "you're a fool to cry, and it makes me wonder why."A Trick of the Tail by GenesisBruce's staff pick features the first single from Genesis with Phil Collins taking over vocals. The song tells about The Beast who leaves his kingdom of gold to enter the human world. He is captured and put into a carnival freak show, but escapes by convincing his captors that he can take them to his city of gold. Nobody's Fault But Mine by Led ZeppelinWayne rocks out with the hit from Led Zeppelin's Presence album. Blind Willie Johnson originally recorded this song in 1928. Page and Plant took credit for writing it originally, but credited Johnson later and downgraded their credits to "arranged by" rather than claiming to have written it.Silly Love Songs by Paul McCartney and WingsRob gets "soppy" with this upbeat number from Wings. McCartney wrote this in response to John Lennon's critique that McCartney wrote "sentimental slush." Paul McCartney was not afraid to write love songs, and musically asks "what's wrong with that?" here in this pop hit. COMEDY TRACK:One Piece at a Time by Johnny Cash and Tennessee ThreeWe finish off this week's podcast with a novelty song that would be the last top 40 hit from Johnny Cash.

Welcome to the Lima Bean, Gleeks! Our names are Kendra & Alexis and we want to talk about Glee... with YOU. Our teenage years were absolutely devoted to Glee, Darren Criss, & everything musical theatre! We were two girls who grew up surrounded by Glee-mani and the societal impact of a TV show that wasn't afraid to break boundaries through both music and storyline. Join us every Saturday morning at 8 am (est) for a chit-chat at the Lima Bean where we'll analyze an episode, give our opinions, & reminisce what the world was like when the phenomenon came to life! This week, we're looking at an episode that we, once again, consider "purposeful filler." Although not the strongest episode of the season, Comeback provides some much-needed levity between the heavy topics of Silly Love Songs and the complex stories that reveal themselves in the next few episodes. Rumored to the Justin Bieber "tribute" episode, all eyes were on Comeback to provide great songs and a fun storyline based around the newest pop sensation of the time. Although Comeback was a far cry from what it was rumored to be about, the songs and unique moments have really cemented themselves in the history of the show. So, grab a seat, and let's talk about Glee! It's a star spangled episode today as the guys travel back to the Bicentennial and discuss the songs of 1976. WARNING: There will be singing on today's show and possible skyrockets in flight for a true idiotic delight. Shawn and Mark also play a round of Would You Rather that includes life streaming, personal theme songs and a bowl of worms. Lastly the guys debate about 80's hair bands and whether they Rule or Drool. Plus the Maroon of the Week, and a trip to Uncle Mark's Joke Bag. Re-brand your week with some absolute nutter nonsense. Subscribe and tell your friends about another funny episode of Randomosity with Shawn and Mark. From all of us at Randomosity with Shawn and Mark have a happy and safe 4th of July!
Welcome to the Lima Bean, Gleeks! Our names are Kendra & Alexis... and we LOVE Glee! This show was such an important part of our childhoods and we want to share our love and appreciation for it with you. Join us every Saturday at 8 am (est) as we have a chit-chat at the Lima Bean and analyze an episode. Get ready to hear our opinions, stories, & all the fun facts we can remember. Today, we're looking at the first Valentine's Day-themed episode: Silly Love Songs! To the two of us, this is a really important moment in Glee history and created a years' long tradition of Valentine's episodes that weren't always as "full of love" as you'd expect. Cheating, revenge, & unrequited love are all themes in this episode that make it a heavier watch, but fun moments like the Warblers performance of When I Get You Alone & Santana's witty one-liner balance the storyline with enough humor to make it a memorable and beloved episode. So, grab a seat... and let's talk about Glee! It's the summer of 1976 and Wings are finishing their victory lap over North America with a lavish party attended by the rich & famous of Los Angeles. With two monster singles: Silly Love Songs and Let Em In, catapulting to the top of the charts on both sides of the Atlantic (well, the #2 spot in the UK), Paul McCartney and his rock n roll quintet were riding high, and enjoying the fruits of their labors. Back in New York, another victory was at hand for John Lennon, who after nearly half a decade of struggle at last obtained the coveted green card that would signify the end to his immigration troubles. By September, another verdict (this time less than ideal) would be handed down in the case of George Harrison and his My Sweet Lord copyright infringement case. A New York City judge found George guilty of plagiarism, responsible for monetary restitution to the copyright holders of the song "He's So Fine", despite Harrison's recognizably sincere denial of having pinched their melody for his 1970 smash single. This landmark decision cost George quite a sum, as well as setting an important precedent for composers and song publishers for decades to come. While George and John respectively celebrated victory and mourned defeat in the New York City courts, Ringo Starr released a new LP on September 17th 1976: Rotogravure. A follow-up to his successful 1974 album Goodnight Vienna, this new collection of songs featured contributions from all four former Beatles, as well as a new producer: the acclaimed Arif Mardin. Despite the musical pedigree of the album's contributors, and Ringo's own enthusiasm, this record's underperformance would signify yet another dramatic sea change in the career trajectory of one of the most successful graduates of the fab four.... "I was a television version of a person with a broken heart." (00:30 "Pink Rabbits", The National) "Stay together, two hearts under a skyscraper." "I wanna be emaciated, I wanna hear one song without thinking of you; I wish I was on a spaceship, Just me and my dog and an impossible view." (14:14 "Me & My Dog", boygenius) Red House Painters 1996年的专辑 "Songs for a Blue Guitar" 基本可以算作他的个人作品。 "Is it a silly game, that forces you to act this way? The National - Pink Rabbits Suede - Stay Together boygenius - Me & My Dog Red House Painters - Silly Love Songs Margaret Glaspy - Ex-Factor Lauryn Hill - Ex-Factor

Who: Yvette Marie Steven, a.k.a., Chaka Khan (@ age 23) - Queen of Funk, singer, songwriter, actor, activist. 90. Why is she being featured: "Sweet Thing", she is breaking out, and I don't want to cover disco yet. 91. Short story: 92. Born and raised in Chicago housing projects, the oldest of five. Started singing early, formed a girl group at age eleven. Changed her name to Chaka Adunne Aduffe Hodarhi Karifi at thirteen and started running around with the Fred Hampton and the Panthers. In 1969, at age16, she dropped out of high school, left the Panthers, and focused on singing with local bands. In 1973, she joined the band Rufus. The first album in 1973 was a dud, but Stevie Wonder was so impressed by Chaka Khan's vocals, he wanted to write a song specifically for her. "Tell Me Something Good", written by Stevie, on their 1974 album won a Grammy. (He also played harmonica on 'I Feel For You'.). But, because of her increasing popularity the record label started calling the group Rufus "Featuring" Chaka Khan, (which was the title of their fourth album that had the hit single "Sweet Thing") and this caused tension in the band. She was back and forth with the group for a few years. Went solo in 1978 and became a legend. (10 Grammys, 8 of them solo) 93. [Audio Clip] 94. Open Comments: 95. Movie Scene 96. Notable releases 97. Why is it featured: The Soundtrack is DOPE!! 106. Short Story: An episodic comedy about a day in the lives of the employees and the owner of a Los Angeles car wash. 107. Critic Review: "Car Wash initially left critics unimpressed (except for Roger Ebert who correctly called it a "wash-and-wax M*A*S*H") but over the decades both the film and the soundtrack have left their mark on pop culture. With its Afros, bell-bottoms, cars as big as boats, and disco soundtrack, Car Wash is a perfect time-capsule of America's bicentennial year." - http://www.threemoviebuffs.com/review/car-wash.html 108. Why is it featured: The last show dedicated to black families until(?) The Cosby Show in 1984. The next few years introduced the interracial family dynamic. (Different Strokes like stuff.) 114. Short Story: Loosely based on Cooley High. What's Happening!! follows the lives of three working-class African-American teens living in Watts. 115. Critic Review: Unlike its contemporary Good Times, What's Happening!! isn't committed to presenting enlightening social commentary or providing empowering African-American role models. Most of the problems the gang faces here are typical of what kids from any community have to deal with. While the show has its funny moments (especially when Dee offers her strong, often sarcastic opinions), much of the show's humor stems from a slapstick-like comedy style that's reminiscent of the minstrel show stereotypes of the 1930s - https://www.commonsensemedia.org/tv-reviews/whats-happening 116. Here we are again, and it's pretty much as good as Glee is gonna get, we're pretty sure. This week it's season 2 episode 12, "Silly Love Songs," where multiple people are sung to and do not appreciate it. Also Maggie says something that could be interpreted as a pun when talking about the word 'fat' but she swears it wasn't intentional. This week on Glee: a Mr. Schue assignment that is both an immoral thing to ask of your teenage students and also completely inconsequential to the actual song choices made in the episode! Plus: Cory Monteith makes the bold character decision to play an extremely sexual adult man instead of a teen, Kurt and Blaine make us feel real emotions, and a terrible Lauren Zizes plot comes into our homes, removes our brains from our skulls, and drops them right into hell. We thought it'd be fun to travel through Sir Paul's extensive catalog and highlight some of his "silliest" songs (interestingly, "Silly Love Songs" didn't make the list!). We put them into categories ranging from experiments gone awry, to songs that don't rock even though you think they would, and many more. You'll hear some famous songs as well as a lot of obscure tunes, and we hope you'll laugh a little bit at some of them!

Top Ten Countdown – 8: Silly Love Songs Hosts: Axe & Mimsy Guests: Sam & Heidi
You might THINK that people would’ve had enough of silly love songs, but Erica and Emily clearly see that isn’t so. No. Especially when they delve into the heart-shaped box of non-sucking chocolate that was, well….Silly Love Songs! Crushes are born, new nicknames formed, and a glimmer of hope illuminated for the actual character development of one Lauren Zizis.
