Bronte fans, it's time to grab your tissues and brace yourselves! The iconic love triangle is back with a vengeance. Shazad Latif, of Magpie and Star Trek: Discovery fame, takes on Edgar Linton alongside Margot Robbie's fiery Catherine and Jacob Elordi's brooding Heathcliff. Directed by Emerald Fennell (of Promising Young Woman fame), this fresh take on Wuthering Heights starts filming in the UK this January. Expect passion, heartbreak, and a modern twist on a classic tale.
Clive Anderson is joined by actor Shazad Latif, who stars as Nemo in 'Nautilus', a new ten part TV series based on Jules Verne's 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. Latif's TV credits include Spooks, The Pursuit of Love and Toast of London, where he played the fan favourite Clem Fandango. And he's also joined by Michael Cumming, who directed Latif in three series of Toast of London. He is currently touring his documentary film 'Oxide Ghosts', a collection of outtakes and behind the scenes footage from the cult series 'Brass Eye' only ever shown at special live screenings.Laurie Anderson is one of the world's most pioneering creative artists. Her documentary film 'Heart of a Dog' was nominated for an Oscar, and she had a surprise hit in 1981 with her song 'O Superman', which reached number two in the UK singles chart. Her new Multimedia show ARK: United States V has just opened at Manchester's Factory International. Comedian Sooz Kempner's most recent stand up show is 'Class of 2000'. It takes her back to sitting her GCSE's in a state school in the year 2000 while being preoccupied with horses, EastEnders and the millenium bug. It's also about the architectural wonder of the Viennetta. Sooz is also one of the hosts of The Queen Podcast. Music is from Trust Fund, the musical project of Ellis Jones. After taking a break from music Jones is back with a new album 'Has it been a while?' And we also have a performance from Manchester based soul-pop artist Ellen Beth Abdi.Presenter: Clive Anderson Producer: Jessica Treen
Friend of the podcast Daisy Ridley stops by BBC Radio 1 towers to talk about her new film, Magpie, which she not only stars in but also produces, alongside her husband Tom Bateman, who also - checks notes - wrote the screenplay. It's a family affair, this one. It's also a neo-noir (as it goes) centring around an unhappily married couple (Ridley and Shazad Latif), their child and an alluring actress. Perhaps it's best if Daisy explains, which she does oh-so-eloquently early on in this episode. As well as Magpie, Ali and Daisy talk all sorts of other nonsense (as it often the way) including The Great British Bake Off and the most eccentric actor she's ever worked with. Let the guessing start... now.
Captain Nemo himself, Shazad Latif, joining us this week to chat Nautilus on Prime Video, and Felicity Ward is also a guest on this week's show, chatting about her role at the forefront of Australia's take on The Office. Elsewhere, we head behind the scenes of a blockbuster superhero movie in Sky Comedy's The Franchise, and recline on Jason Segel's couch in season 2 of Shrinking on Apple TV+. But don't ask Kay about any of that as there's a significant chance she's not listening.

Written by Jemima Khan, WHAT'S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT? tells the story of Zoe (Lily James), a documentary filmmaker who finds herself in an endless stream of dead-end relationships. Finally willing to move on from the game, Zoe's childhood friend Kaz (Shazad Latif) decides to take a different approach. Instead of using dating apps, Kaz decides to allow his family to engage him in an assisted marriage to a beautiful young woman from Pakistan. Opting to film her friend's journey towards the altar, Zoe begins to wonder if, maybe, her understanding of love has been flawed all along. In this 1on1, we speak to Khan and Latif about false fairy tales, honesty in relationships and loneliness as a 'Western disease'.

Boris Sollazzo ci parla di "Shazam", film di supereroi che diverte, diretto da David F. James Cameron-Wilson examines the UK box offie, down 40% on the week. With Ant-Man 3 still #1, the much-anticipated Cocaine Bear enters at #3. Stomach-churningly violent and unsubtle, James's verdict is, "Great trailer, shame about the movie". Romcom What's Love Got To Do With It, written by Jemima Khan and starring Lily James and Shazad Latif, is #4 and James and Simon both recommend it. It's romantic, funny and even educational. South Korean Broker is #8. On Apple TV is Sharper, with Julianne Moore in a con artist film that is entertaining but also too clever for its own good. Learn more about your ad choices. As a great lady once sang, what's love got to do with it? Everything, is usually the answer, and that certainly drives this week's episode of the Empire Podcast and, indeed, the new rom-com What's Love Got To Do With It, whose stars, Lily James and Shazad Latif, pop onto a laptop and have a Zoom chat with Chris Hewitt in which he makes a desperate pitch to become their agent, and leaves the Working Title screening room in a frightful state. And love — namely of a little green guy with big ears — drives The Mandalorian, which is gearing up to return to Disney+ on March 1, and Chris also sits down with Jon 'Favs' Favreau for an interview about the show, how to find a director for Star Wars, and working with Peter Falk. Then, in the podbooth, Chris is joined by Ben Travis, Alex Godfrey and James Dyer for a fun episode in which they discuss (some of) the best movie bridges, (some of) the week's movie news, and (some of) the week's big releases, including Cocaine Bear, Asif Kapadia's Creature, We Have A Ghost, and Joyland. Oh, and Alex gets pigeonholed. Enjoy!
Simon speaks to Hugh Jackman about how filming ‘The Son' changed him as a parent, plus he talks about reprising his role as Wolverine! Mark reviews ‘Cocaine Bear', a film about a 500-pound black bear who goes on a murderous rampage after unintentionally ingesting cocaine. ‘What's Love Got To Do With It' starring Lily James and Shazad Latif, centering around an arranged marriage; ‘The Independent' starring Jodie Turner-Smith and Brian Cox which tells the story of a reporter who uncovers a presidential election conspiracy; and ‘Broker', a Korean drama film written and directed by Japanese filmmaker Hirokazu Kore-eda. #whatslovegottodowithit #lilyjames #romanticcomedy #emmathompson #Shazadlatif #cinema #incinemasnow #podcast #daumenkino #movie

This week on Episode 510 of Priority One: Star Trek Voyager could have had a much different endgame; the Section 31 spinoff series is still in the works; and Evil Picard is gunna get you in IDW's new Mirror Universe series. In Gaming, Star Trek Online wraps its year-long Klingon Civil War saga. This week's Community Question is: CQ: If you could change one thing about the Voyager finale, what would it be? Let us know on social media like Facebook, Twitter, or by visiting our website! TREK IT OUT Edited by Jake Morgan Abandoned ‘Star Trek: Voyager' Finale Ideas Could Have Given the Sendoff It Deserved By Rosco McQueen It was a night when the question that had plagued fans over the course of seven years would be answered - will Voyager return home in the series finale? The feature-length final episode “Endgame” aired 20 years ago on May 23, 2001, and this week the series milestone was celebrated, commemorated and dissected. The Hollywood Reporter spoke with many of the cast and crew discussing the potential finale ideas that were left mostly in the writers room. Suggestions included killing off Captain Janeway or Seven of Nine, reverse assimilation of the Borg, and the idea that Endgame could have been a mid-season episode to allow for the crew to explore returning home to the Alpha Quadrant. Star Trek: Discovery's Shazad Latif talks Section 31 "rumblings" By Roscoe McQueen Everyone's favorite Klingon-turned human-turned Section 31 agent, Ash Tyler, has been in the news this week discussing the Section 31 spinoff, and it turns out details are… few. To the point of… mysterious. Speaking with Digital Spy this week, actor Shazad Latif talked about the spin-off series currently being up in the air due to actors' schedules. "It's just been slight yeses, slight questions, but I've no idea. I think it's down to people's schedules. I spoke to Ethan Peck briefly the other day. He's started the other one [Star Trek: Strange New Worlds], and that's about it." The only other details we have come from Alex Kurtzman, who was more hype-man than detail guy. Kurtzman said the show is well on it's way and the writers have put together a great script as well as a Section 31 writers room. All other details are shrouded in a veil of secrecy. Star Trek: Mirror War Will See Evil Picard Finally Face Justice By Rosco McQueen It's one aspect of the Star Trek franchise that was never delved into in the The Next Generation tv series. The Mirror Universe. Thankfully the folks at IDW comics have taken the dagger and stabbed with it. Repeatedly. And explored the world in the 2018 series “Mirror Broken”. The series saw a frustrated and aggressive Captain Picard in command of the Stargazer. The crew, including Inquisitor Deanna Troi and a Borg-ified version of Data, worked towards destroying and salvaging Cardassian and Klingon ships for profit and maintaining the borders of the weakened Empire. Eventually Picard's frustrations and ambitions led the Captain, complete with goatee, to steal command of the Empire's newest Galaxy-class warship from Captain Jellicoe. Now the repercussions of the not-so-good Captain's actions will be explored in “Mirror War”. In the nine-part series, evil Picard will face the wrath of the Emperor for his crimes. Why is the Emperor angry at Picard? We'll have to wait and see. The Mirror War will also be complemented by four tie-in one-shots, each of which will follow an evil version of a prominent Next Generation character, beginning with Data. Very happy to re-release this Mixtape Assembly episode from the archives, presented by the actor Shazad Latif , who will be well known to any Trekkies out there, playing as he does Lieutenant Ash Tyler in the CBS series Star Trek: Discovery. In his Mixtape Assembly, Shaz reveals the random encounter that led to his first major role in the spy series Spooks, and pays homage to his mum Elaine, who taught him the importance of throwing moves whenever Elvis comes on. Shaz talks vividly about his love of nature, remembering times spent at my family's cottage in Norfolk, as well as bittersweet walks through Hampstead Heath, accompanied by the ghost of William Wordsworth. Musically, Shaz's selection is nothing if not eclectic, perhaps in part reflecting his mixed heritage, representing as he does for England, Scotland, and Pakistan. TRACKLIST: 1. Beyond Section 31 we also ponder some other show premises for her Georgiou we might prefer to see her in.

Shazad Latif (Star Trek: Discovery, Penny Dreadful) and Anthony Rapp (Star Trek: Discovery, Rent) headline this Middle Eastern/North African tale about sweet figs, bad breath, and the bitter truth. When you need advice, what kind of advisor do you turn to? Someone who’s honest? Trustworthy? Supportive? In today’s story, we’ll meet an advisor who’s none of these things. And the person he’s advising -- a wealthy, powerful sultan -- has no idea! Our story is called “The Sultan’s Figs.” Versions of this tale originally come from North Africa and the Middle East. Voices in this episode include Mike DelGaudio, Shazad Latif and Anthony Rapp. Grown-ups, you can see Shazad and Anthony on the CBS All-Access series, Star Trek. You can also check out Shazad Latif in three Netflix shows -- Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, Penny Dreadful and Toast of London -- plus the upcoming indie film, Falling For Figaro. Anthony Rapp has starred in dozens of Broadway plays and musicals, including Rent and If/Then, opposite Idina Menzel. He’s the author of the book, Without You: A Memoir of Love, Loss, and the Musical Rent. To give to Circle Round got to WBUR.org/supportcircleround
Shazad Latif and Manny Montana have paid their dues and it’s time to give them the recognition they deserve. From Spooks to Penny Dreadful to Star Trek: Discovery, Shazad has shown he has the range. But it’s as Ash Tyler that his vulnerability and yearning leave us utterly captivated. Manny Montana has been working his way to Good Girls since 2008, and his character Rio is worth the wait. Manny makes Rio vibrate with barely-controlled passion, keeping us on the edge of our seats. Yes, Shazad and Manny are thirst-worthy, but they’re both incredibly talented as well, and we’re ready to watch their stars rise. Slate Plus members get a bonus segment on Thirst Aid Kit each week. Sign up now to listen and support our show. In this week’s Slate Plus, Bim leads “Explain Yourself,” as she tries to convince Nichole, notorious for her love of a long-haired man, to give sexy bald men a chance. With such compelling evidence as Boris Khodjoe, Sir Patrick Stewart, Corey Stoll, and more, can Bim win her case? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Happy 125th episode to us! And thanks for helping us get here. And what a great Discovery episode to help us celebrate for our big 1-2-5, too, as Lt. Ash Tyler himself, Shazad Latif, beams in to to talk about the latest crazy plot twist from "The Wolf Inside."
