When Christian Pulisic broke onto the international soccer scene, playing for the USMNT as a teenager, he represented a new wave of hope that the Americans could establish themselves with more prominence on the global stage. It wasn't just Pulisic, but a group of up-and-coming young talent that included the likes of Weston McKennie, Tim Weah, Tyler Adams and others. The team faced disappointment when failing to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, but also grew from that experience, forming the core of the team for years to come. David Sarachan had the chance to coach that group during his stint as the interim USMNT head coach in 2017 and 2018. He joined Founding Futbol to share his experience with those young players. During the conversation, Sarachan talks about how the game change, why it's so hard to compare different generations of players and more. Visit our website for more information: FoundingFutbol.com. C., Van Duyne, G. D., Matera, A. G. Abstract: Protein oligomerization is one mechanism by which homogenous solutions can separate into distinct liquid phases, enabling assembly of membraneless organelles. Survival Motor Neuron (SMN) is the eponymous component of a large macromolecular complex that chaperones biogenesis of eukaryotic ribonucleoproteins, and localizes to distinct membraneless organelles in both the nucleus and cytoplasm. SMN forms the oligomeric core of this complex, and missense mutations within its YG box domain are known to cause Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). The SMN YG box utilizes a variation of the glycine zipper motif to form dimers, but the mechanism of higher-order oligomerization remains unknown. Here, we use a combination of molecular genetic, bioinformatic, biophysical, and computational approaches to show that formation of higher-order SMN oligomers depends on a set of YG box residues that are not involved in dimerization. Mutation of key residues within this new structural motif restricts assembly of SMN to dimers and causes locomotor dysfunction and viability defects in animal models. CoG Studios, CA - Josh Guesman returns from his off-season "break" to fill you in on all the roster movement that has consumed this team over the last three days. And while the departures of Robbie Keane and Steven Gerrard may not be anything unexpected, the rumors that are swirling around the LA Galaxy could see a lot more players and coaches leave, before the new season starts. On today's show, Kevin Baxter (@kbaxter11) from the LA Times stops by to lend his expertise in assessing the departures of not only Keane and Gerrard, but also LA Galaxy Associate Head Coach, Dave Sarachan. Josh and Kevin will pay particular attention to that departure in case it signals that Bruce Arena may also be leaving the team to rescue US Soccer. Plus the guys will discuss other names that might be on the chopping block and how important it is for the LA Galaxy to find someone to steer the ship if Arena does decide to leave. Kevin is insightful with his comments as he brings you up to date on everything that he knows regarding this team and the way that information is being passed down. Who could replace Bruce Arena in the head coaching and general manager roles? And who else could the LA Galaxy lean on in terms of smart soccer minds? The guys will discuss everything that has gone on and that is going on in the next few days. And they don't expect it to get any quieter. There are a ton of contract options that need to be picked up or denied. And that news should start to filter out as we get closer to MLS Cup. Thanks for joining us on this special off-season addition. We hope you enjoy the shows and we look forward to talking again very soon. Music Provided by Back Pocket Memory
