Olivier Girud anotó su primer gol en la MLS con el equipo Aurinegro y Bouanga vuelve a anotar. El otro gol fue de David "El Chamogol" Martinez. Steve Cherundolo y Aaron Long nos dan sus impresiones del juego
It's Episode 354, and it's a collapse of epic proportions, as LAFC goes to Miami, takes a 2-0 aggregate lead WITH the tiebreaker, only to squander it all away, losing 3-1 to Messi and Inter Miami and crashing out of the 2025 CCC. Ugh.Things looked great for the Black and Gold early, as captain Aaron Long reported for duty, scoring a chaotic 9' goal to give the boys an early lead, and the tiebreaker. That's about where the good news ends. Miami scores three unanswered, including two from Lionel Messi. Denis Bouanga missed or squandered a series of great chances, including one in second-half stoppage, and that proved to be the undoing for LAFC in the CCC. SEVEN, yes, seven big chances missed for LAFC. Miami wins the match, 3-1, and wins the aggregate, 3-2, to advance to the semis. Also on this match, Scarf is back from Costa Rica, Filly suffers no fools lightly when it comes to Dolo out, and Laff harkens back to his LAFC debut as part of This Date In LAFC History. Enjoy 354!
When the US Men's National Team failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, it was a setback to the growth of soccer in America. The disappointment of that failed qualification triggered changes at the top of the team, and a concerted effort to integrate a new group of young talent that could get the team back to the FIFA Men's World Cup in 2022. Players like Weston McKennie, Tim Weah, Tyler Adams, Yunus Musah, Antonee Robinson, Kellyn Acosta and others became fixtures of the starting XI through 2018 and into the 2019 Gold Cup in an effort to gain the experience needed to excel on the international stage. Aaron Long was in that group of players. He worked his way into the national team picture after becoming a stalwart defender under Jesse Marsch for the NY Red Bulls. Once he landed on the senior team roster, his impact was felt. Long became a starter and team captain. Then, after fighting through injuries, figured into the final stages of the World Cup Qualifiers before making the roster for the team's trip to Qatar. Long joined Founding Futbol to talk about his journey through MLS and onto the national team. He discusses how then coach Gregg Berhalter gave the team clear focus on a return to the world's biggest tournament, and what it was like learning to win with a young group of players. Long also reflects on the importance of the USMNT return to the World Cup, and how it helped continue to elevate the game in America. LAFC traveled to Children's Mercy Park and showed no mercy to Sporting, taking out the home side, 2-0. Goals from David Martinez and Aaron Long, excellent defending, and two big saves by Hugo Lloris punctuated the win. Also on Episode 350, Odin Holm and Adrian Wibowo make their LAFC debuts, LAFF needs to be reminded it's an LA podcast, and apparently, Scarf was a member of the Open Cup broadcast team for LAFC2's win over FC Arizona. Enjoy 350, and here's to 350 more!
It's Episode 342 and Lafferty's back for more as he and Scarf break down the 2-1 loss to Colorado on the road in the first leg of the First Round of the CCC. It's not all doom and gloom, however, as a late header by captain Aaron Long gave LAFC plenty of life as the boys thaw out and head back to BMO for two matches in four days!Djordje Mihailovic was clearly the player of the match (and Scarf's Player To Watch on One More Sleep), as his brace helped the Rapids take a commanding 2-0 lead. But with just minutes until the final whistle, Denis Bouanga's cross found a flat-footed Long. His header kissed the inside of the post before finding the back of the net. The goal from long changes all the math (find out how on this episode!) as LAFC looks to advance out of the First Round of the CCC. Also on 342, we discuss our new fullback, Artem Smolyakov, a potential Turkish signing and the baggage he comes with, and we wish a happy birthday to our very own head man, Steve Cherundolo. Enjoy!
And just like that, 2024 comes to a close with... wait, what?! Jesus Murillo gone? Ilie Sanchez gone? Kei Kamara gone? Strange things are definitely afoot in the land of Black and Gold. Here on Episode 339, Filly and Scarf take a look at all the happenings since the end of the season: every transaction, every award, every schedule update, and even a rumor or two are covered in this episode. Aaron Long is back! Jude Terry is one of our own! But man-oh-man is it going to be hard to replace the veteran presence, the leadership, the class, and the quality of Ilie, Kei, and Muri. Sit down, put your feet up, and close out your 2024, or start your 2025, with your favorite LAFC-podcasting duo, and enjoy Episode 339!
Alan is joined by Tim and DJ to recap recent news and provide an outlook to the offseason. First, Berhalter states only 5 players are locked into start. There are many moves being made in the organization; staff going to Lugano, staff leaving, Fire 2 coach turnover, and players are coming and going.
Voice of LAFC Max Bretos and the best wingman in the game Steve Beitashour dive right into the deep end to wade through all the Decision Day madness that transpired over the weekend. The fellas then explain the playoff format and what the Black & Gold's route to a record-tying third straight MLS Cup could look like. The team has momentum, unrivaled depth and is getting healthy at the right time, which is a recipe for success. After running down LAFC's strengths, the guys deliver their Audi 2024 MLS Cup Playoff predictions. MLS Defender of the Year nominee Aaron Long and his playoff 'stache join the second half of the show to talk about the euphoria of the Decision Day results, the state of the team, his tremendous defense this season, and if a return to the U.S. National Team could be in the cards.
It's Episode 333, the number of the beast as far as Vancouver is concerned. LAFC travels up to the PNW and steals 3 points from a much-deserving Whitecaps side! Matty gets an early one, Ilie seals it late, and the boys still have Western Conference crown hopes as we meet Decision Day head-on. It took all of 32 seconds for LAFC to get on the board, the second-fastest goal in club history. David Martinez supplies a perfect pass to a streaking Mateusz Bogusz, whose deft chip eludes both defender and keeper and puts the good guys up 1. After the break, a Sergi Palencia yellow and a Sergi Palencia own goal in short succession put the West in peril, and Vancouver had plenty of other bites at the cherry. Timothy Tillman makes the save of the match, denying Damir Kreilach on the line, and LAFC headed to stoppage needed a miracle. Enter Ilie Sanchez, with some massive help from The Wunderkid, Nathan Ordaz! Nate splits 2 defenders with a sick move, finds Kei Kamara, who quickly slots it to a wide-open Ilie. Just like Aaron Long last match, the unlikely hero Ilie plays the role of savior, and LAFC is up 2-1. Thank goodness the soccer gods blinked for a second, as Brian White's header at the death struck all post and no netting, and it's LAFC with everything to play for on Decision Day.Also on this episode, Scarf does all the math and permutations for Decision Day, Filly enjoys Dodger Stadium for Game 2, and the boys wish both a former and current player happy birthday! Enjoy 333!
Voice of the Black & Gold Max Bretos and co-pilot extraordinaire Steve Beitashour begin by analyzing LAFC's current four-game winning streak. The fellas then touch on the international break before previewing LAFC's penultimate regular season match vs. Vancouver and giving LAFC2 a shoutout for making the MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs. Later in the show, new LAFC defender Marlon joins Max to talk shop: his journey from Brazil, playing throughout Europe, and his first days with the Black & Gold.

Looking to continue the end of season success, LAFC heads to "Blue Hell" to take on Sporting KC. The Black and Gold would score early, threaten often, and keep another sheet clean, still in the hunt for the Western Conference crown. It's all here on Episode 332!Denis Bouanga earned his 11th shot a goal from the penalty spot early in the match. This one, however, would be his first saved attempt, as Tim Melia stayed put enough to both save Denis' penalty and watch the rebound whiz past him into the back of the goal, courtesy of David Martinez! In stoppage, Kike Olivera got on the end of a beautiful pass from Bouanga to double the lead heading into the half. After halftime, LAFC kept the pedal down, and the effort would pay off in the form of a beautiful, top bins goal by... Aaron Long? Yes! Aaron Long, in his 73rd appearance for LAFC, would finally get on the score sheet! The lesson learned? Don't leave Aaron long open! Hugo would do everything needed to keep the clean sheet, saving 4 shots but facing little danger, en route to his LAFC-record 11th shutout of the season. Also on this episode, Filly gets a quarterback while the Tyler Miller count rises by a few. Enjoy 332, and a much needed break until we head to Vancouver!
Guys... I think we're back. Travis and Vince break down a breezy victory with very little to complain about. LAFC clinches top 4 in the West, Bouanga finally misses a PK, and Aaron Long scores a Bouanga Blast. Filly and Scarf are back for Episode 327, as LAFC's winless streak hits 4 with a home draw against Austin. Back at BMO, LAFC misses an opportunity to clinch a playoff spot but definitely doesn't miss a chance to welcome back Carlos Vela!LAFC played an excellent first half defensively... right up until it didn't. One mistake by Aaron Long, one pass by Bukari, and one shot on target was all Austin needed to take a lead into the locker room. An hour in, LAFC brings on Ilie and the teenager, David Martinez, and it pays dividends. Giroud, Atuesta, and Hollingshead combine for a great buildup, finding a streaking Martinez in the box to make it 1-1. Hugo did what he needed to to preserve a point, but LAFC couldn't find the winner and the match ended in a draw. Also on this episode, we thank the Miknuk family for being amazing, look ahead at the rest of the MLS regular season, and break down Carlos Vela's contract. Enjoy 327!

Beita gives the low down on what it's like getting guys back from international duty before the fellas dive into Galaxy Week and the stakes of Saturday's El Traffico. Centerback Aaron Long joins the second half of the show to talk about being named to MLS Team of the Matchday for his performance in Houston before turning his attention to Galaxy Week. Aaron and Max then preview the U.S. Open Cup Final that LAFC will host against Sporting KC at BMO Stadium on Sept. 25.

The episode also investigates the Istanbul rocket and its fascinating ties to these ancient stories of celestial travel. Our exploration doesn't stop there. We dissect the mysteries surrounding the precision-crafted Schist disk from Egypt's First Dynasty and the Piri Reis map, a 16th-century chart that controversially depicts Antarctica without ice. LAFC opens up their Leagues Cup group stage with a 3-0 win vs Club Tijuana. A sloppy match you can't be mad at when the xG is high, the goals are high, and the sheet is CLEAN. But HONESTLY? This episode is lowkey cursed. We jinxed Aaron Long's solid performance throughout the season thus far; we go down the rabbit hole of a genuinely scary head (or neck?) injury to Tijuana's Christian Rivera, and the ensuing psychotic break of his coach, Juan Carlos Osorio, that resulted in a red card, and will likely result in further suspension and/or fine. But that's not all! Travis can't pronounce "Michelada," Darren admits he doesn't ACTUALLY know anything about Antoine Griezmann (like, at all), and worst of all, Heel Of The Foot, Geoff Tock, calls into the show. Just kidding, it actually gets worse than that. Listen to find out how dark this thing gets! But also it was a fun celebration to a fun win! IT CAN BE BOTH! Welcome to Episode 293, and what a match it was for the boys in Black and Gold! LAFC ends our scoreless streak just before it hit 350 minutes, Denis Bouanga bags a brace (though he will tell you it should have been 4!), and Olly takes a circuitous route around BMO for her pre-match flight. Take a listen for all the details of a thrilling night at BMO. LAFC got on the board early, off a beautiful corner kick by Eduard Atuesta. The ball nicked Aaron Long's head before Nashville's defender deflected it right to the foot of a waiting Timothy Tillman, and just like that, the drought was over for LAFC! Denis Bouanga would join the party moments later, off a Tillman-drawn penalty kick, and the Golden Boot winner of 2023 got his first of 2024. After the half, more fireworks, as LAFC put up two more in regulation. Right after the halftime whistle, a cross by Palencia is dummied perfectly by Atuesta, and it's Denis waiting to slam it home. A straight red for keeper Joe Willis would see Nashville down a man for the last half hour, and LAFC would take full advantage. Atuesta and David Martinez would combine for a few beautiful touches to find Kike Olivera, who slides it past backup keeper Elliot Panicco for the fourth of the match for LAFC!In stoppage time, Bouanga would slot a perfect ball onto the head of a diving Eduard Atuesta for his first goal for LAFC since 2021, and the party was on! 5-0 LAFC, a clean sheet for a largely untested Hugo Lloris, and, most importantly, Olly was back on the arm of Jason Miknuk after halftime. What a night! We hope you enjoy Episode 293, a solo Scarf project, and can't wait to get Filly back for 294!

Embark on a journey into obscure and forgotten knowledge with your hosts, Joe Landry and Laurie Oldford, who along with special guest Aaron Long from the Ancient Astronaut Facebook page delve deep into the world of ancient texts and extraterrestrial beings. You'll be taken through the riveting tales of the enigmatic Enoch and the Fallen Angels called the Watchers, as we explore the sacred texts and question the traditional interpretations of divine power and godliness. What if these fallen angels, said to be 200 in number, were just extraterrestrial beings misunderstood by our ancestors? As we navigate through the fascinating narrative of human encounters with these celestial beings, we challenge conventional beliefs and encourage you to view these age-old stories from a fresh perspective. From discussing the birth of the Nephilim, the hybrid offspring of the human and alien DNA, to the speculation of Enoch's divine manifestations, we leave no stone unturned. As we wrap up our discussion, we question the exclusion of the Book of Enoch from the Bible and ponder the possibility of these angels being ancient gods who were venerated by our ancestors. Could there be more to the depiction of Godin the Bible? Are ancient myths reliable? We invite you to join us in this enthralling conversation, challenging your beliefs and expanding your understanding of these sacred narratives. Here on Episode 243, the Black and Gold travel to Nash Vegas to take on Walker ZImmerman and Nashville SC. LAFC would start a heavily rotated lineup while leaving Timothy Tillman, Aaron Long, and Giorgio Chiellini off the roster completely, searching for a point in Music City. The home side would strike first, as LAFC struggled to clear the ball out of their own box. Reigning MVP Hany Muhktar pounced on it and slotted it past the defense for a first half lead. With Walker Zimmerman coming out after 55' due to groin tightness, the entire tenor of the match changed, and it was time for LAFC to do the pouncing.Just 4 minutes after Walker's departure, Stipe Biuk's steal set Denis Bouanga free, and the star striker blasted it past a diving Joe Willis to level the match after about an hour. Despite both sides having ample opportunities over the course of 90' to find another, the match, perhaps fairly, ended in a draw. Also on the episode, the boys get off the rails. Several times. We also congratulate Dax McCarty and Noah Dollenmayer, on the very opposite ends of their respective professional journeys. Filly dislikes Ted Unkel. A lot. Scarf introduces Filly to Ted's wife. And video! We have video! Enjoy Episode 243!
