In der neuesten Episode von „Flutlicht & Flipcharts“ beleuchten wir den besonderen Werdegang von Mathias Schiele. Seit Juli 2024 ist er bei Borussia Dortmund und arbeitet sowohl mit den Talenten in der U17, U19 und U23, als auch mit Profis aus der Lizenzmannschaft. Mathias‘ Lebensgeschichte ist alles andere als gewöhnlich und geht weit über seine heutige Tätigkeit auf den Trainingsplätzen hinaus: Als noch aktiver Spieler wird bei ihm mit 19 Jahren ein Hirntumor diagnostiziert. Nach einem schwierigen Genesungsprozess ändern sich sowohl seine Perspektive auf sich selbst als auch einige der eigenen kognitiven Fähigkeiten. Dieser Weg hat ihn letztlich über viele Stationen – unter anderem Philadelphia, Augsburg und Stuttgart – zum BVB geführt, wo er heute innovatives, individuelles Fußballtraining unter Berücksichtigung von Wahrnehmung, Kognition und Motorik konzipiert und umsetzt. Die eigenen Erfahrungen und neugewonnenen Perspektiven nutzt Mathias im beruflichen Alltag als eine seiner großen Stärken: Bedingungsloser und maximaler Einsatz, persönliche und charakterliche Weiterentwicklung sowie das Gefühl für den eigenen Körper – all diese und noch viele Aspekte mehr stehen täglich im Mittelpunkt seiner intensiven Arbeit mit schwarzgelben Fußballern.

In dieser Episode widme ich mich der Rezension von "Vergiftete Hoffnung", einem packenden Kriminalroman von Mara Pfeiffer. Die Geschichte beginnt mit dem Überraschungsauftritt von 05-Profi Finn Ringer bei Jo Zinn, die zunächst wenig begeistert ist – nicht zuletzt aufgrund der tragischen Ereignisse, die sie in Verbindung zu Finn bringen. Der Plot entfaltet sich als Finn die journalistische Neugierde von Jo weckt, als er von Ugonna Okorie erzählt, einem jugendlichen Flüchtling, der in der U19 des FSV Mainz 05 spielt. Die Handlung nimmt Fahrt auf, als Finn mit Dopingvorwürfen konfrontiert wird, die sich mysteriös umgeben, und Jo sich einem intensiven Rechercheprozess widmet. Diese Recherche wird zu einer Flucht aus ihren eigenen persönlichen Schwierigkeiten, die sie ablenken sollten: Probleme mit ihrem Freund Hans, die Entscheidung, mit ihm zusammenzuziehen, und Konflikte mit Luca und seinem Vater Tom über das Sorgerecht. Mit jeder Seite wird Jo klarer, dass die Geschichte um Ugonna nicht nur professionell, sondern auch tief mit ihrem eigenen Leben verwoben ist, und die ersehnte Ruhe scheint in immer weitere Ferne zu rücken. Mara Pfeiffer überzeugt mit einer prägnanten Sprache und einer kurzweiligen Erzählweise, die sowohl durch ausgeklügelte Dialoge als auch durch spannende Wendungen besticht. Die Intrigen und der Mut der Charaktere erzeugen eine Dramatik, die den Leser in den Bann zieht, und bilden eine spannende Hommage an die Stadt Mainz und den Verein FSV Mainz 05. Die gut strukturierten Charaktere, einschließlich der komplexen Beziehung zwischen Joe, ihrem Liebesleben und den Problemen, die sie als alleinerziehende Mutter meistert, tragen zur Tiefe der Geschichte bei. Während ich dem Verlauf der Handlung folge, wird mir immer deutlicher, dass Mara Pfeiffer ein Gespür für realistische Charaktere und deren Beziehungsdynamiken hat. Ihr Protagonist Jo Zinn, der als Journalistin arbeitet, ist durch ihre Herausforderungen, sowohl im Beruf als auch im Privatleben, greifbar und nachvollziehbar. Die Verbindung von Fiktion und Realität wird besonders spürbar durch die Nennung bekannter Namen und Bezüge zur Region. Ich stelle schließlich in Frage, ob ein Kriminalroman tatsächlich immer einen Mord beinhalten muss. Vielleicht hätte ich mir ein wenig mehr Fokus auf die Herausforderungen von finde Flüchtlingen in der Gesellschaft gewünscht, insbesondere in Bezug auf Ugonna Okorie. Doch trotz meiner Anmerkungen über den Wunsch nach umfassenderer Kriminalität bleibt der Roman durchweg fesselnd. Ich bin gespannt, was Mara Pfeiffer in zukünftigen Romanen noch bereithält, und halte Ausschau nach weiteren Geschichten über Mainz 05. Die Leser dürfen sich auf unterhaltsame Momente und tiefgehende Denkanstöße freuen, und selbst wenn man mit Mainz 05 nicht viel anfangen kann, bietet das Buch genügend Reiz, um es zu lesen und die Stadt besser kennenzulernen. "Vergiftete Hoffnung" ist im Societäts-Verlag erschienen und kann in jeder Buchhandlung für 9,99 Euro bestellt werden.

Nu fortæller Casper Hauervig sin historie. »Det har altid været mærkeligt at komme herud igen. Det er en følelse af fejl, at jeg kommer her som tilskuer i stedet for som spiller.« Vi møder Casper Hauervig på Brøndby Stadion. Et sted, der »stadig føles som hjem«, men som ikke længere er det. »Det er en underlig følelse at være her,« fastslår han. I dag er Casper privat målmandstræner. Men vi har inviteret ham tilbage ud til den klub, hvor han brugte størstedelen af sin ungdomstid – ikke bare som fodboldspiller, men som et ungt menneske i det hele taget. »Som U12-spiller var jeg oppe på at træne otte til ti gange om ugen, fordi jeg skulle træne med tredje-, andet- og førsteholdet. Soccer history unfolded right here in Northwest Arkansas as the Outrigger Challenge Cup brought FIFA-sanctioned international matches to Springdale. Kevin Tello, Ozark United FC MLS Next Technical Director, joins host Wes Harris to break down this landmark event that put our region on the global soccer map.The tournament featured the senior men's national teams of Turks and Caicos and the US Virgin Islands, along with the Marshall Islands and Ozark United FC's U19 academy team, which stepped in as a last-minute addition. What followed was nothing short of extraordinary – under-19 academy players jumping out to 2–0 leads against established FIFA nations, the Marshall Islands competing in their first-ever international fixtures, and a celebration of soccer that united our diverse community.Kevin provides an insider's perspective on what it meant for our U19 players to face professional athletes in high-stakes competition. These weren't exhibition matches – the intensity was real, with bone-crunching tackles, heated exchanges, and the kind of pressure most players don't experience until college or beyond. The experience proved invaluable as our young athletes faced the realities of international competition, learning lessons about game management and mental fortitude that will serve them for years to come.The conversation shifts to Ozark United FC's exciting MLS Next program, which has drawn incredible talent from across the region. Cricket Australia has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming U19 men's series against India, featuring three one-day and two four-day matches in Brisbane and Mackay from 21 September to 10 October. Two Indian-origin players - Aryan Sharma (Victoria) and Yash Deshmukh (NSW) - have been included. The National Under-19 male championships will be held in December, after which the final squad for the ICC U19 Men's World Cup 2026 will be selected.
