In today's episode, we're focusing on how to harness everyday opportunities to share the Gospel, guided by the wisdom of Colossians 4:5-6. We'll uncover how our daily interactions and behaviors can become a vibrant testament to the life-changing power of God's Word. Our springboard for today's discussion is: Colossians 4:5-6: "Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone." This scripture teaches us the importance of being intentional and gracious in our interactions, making each conversation an opportunity to reflect Christ.Evangelism isn't just for the mission field; it's for our homes, workplaces, and communities. This episode explores how we can live out the Gospel in everyday situations, using our words and actions to influence those around us positively.Practical Evangelism through Daily Interactions:* Intentional Living: Each day brings opportunities to demonstrate the Gospel through our actions. Being intentional means looking for these moments and being prepared to act on them.* Grace-filled Conversations: Our speech can open doors for deeper discussions about faith. Conversations "seasoned with salt" can pique curiosity and invite questions about our beliefs.Building Relationships for Evangelism:* Trust and Authenticity: Building genuine relationships is foundational to effective evangelism. People are more receptive to hearing about faith from someone they trust and respect.* Showing God's Love: Demonstrating God's love through acts of kindness and genuine interest in others' lives can soften hearts and open doors for spiritual conversations.Incorporating the Gospel into Everyday Life:* Seize the Moment: Be ready to share your faith when opportunities arise naturally, whether it's answering a question about your peace in tough times or sharing how your faith influences your decisions.* Lifestyle Evangelism: Let your life be a testament to the transformative power of the Gospel. Consistency in your actions and words often speaks louder than any formal presentation of the Gospel.ConclusionLiving out the Gospel isn't limited to planned evangelistic events; it permeates our everyday lives. By being wise, intentional, and gracious, we can make the most of every opportunity to share the transformative power of Christ.A Question of the Day: Can you think of a recent situation where you could have used an everyday interaction as an opportunity to share the Gospel? How might you approach it differently next time?Growth Challenge: This week, consciously look for at least three opportunities each day to demonstrate or discuss your faith in natural, relational ways. Journal these encounters and reflect on how they influence both your walk with Christ and your relationships.Let's Pray: Father, teach us to be wise and gracious in our interactions, using every opportunity You give us to share the love and truth of Your Gospel. Help us to be lights in the darkness, guiding others to Your love with our words and deeds. Amen.As we go about our days, let's stay alert to the divine appointments God places in our path. Every encounter is a chance to live out the Gospel and draw others closer to Christ. Let's embrace these opportunities with joy and boldness. Kazunari Sutton, a humanitarian, anime artist, and track coach. They discuss Kazunari's experience coaching a young hurdler who is competing in the Junior Olympics. They also talk about the upcoming Olympics and the athletes to watch. Kazunari shares his personal journey and the lessons he has learned about self-discovery and submitting to God's plan. The conversation explores the theme of submission to God and the transformation that comes from surrendering to His will. Kazunari and Tanaka discuss their personal experiences of realizing their need for God and how He has guided and transformed their lives. They emphasize the importance of patience, obedience, and allowing God to work in their lives. Kazunari shares his mission to care for the less desirable members of society, such as the homeless, widows, and children. The challenge they propose is to listen to the stories of those who are often overlooked and show them God's love.Takeaways: Coaching is not just about training athletes, but also teaching them life lessons. Being a coach requires humility and the ability to guide athletes without being in the driver's seat. The Junior Olympics is a significant milestone for young athletes, and it provides an opportunity for them to compete against strong competition. In track and field, anything can happen, and athletes with something to prove can surprise everyone. Personal growth and self-discovery are ongoing journeys, and it's important to learn from past mistakes and submit to God's plan. Submission to God and surrendering to His will leads to transformation and growth. Patience and obedience are key in allowing God to work in our lives. Caring for the less desirable members of society, such as the homeless, widows, and children, is a mission that reflects God's love. Listening to the stories of others, especially those who are often overlooked, can be a powerful way to show God's love and bring about change. We are happy to share today's interview with Teri Sellers! Teri has been a part of Desert Springs for over 10 years. She has been a huge part of our Care & Support ministries as she facilitates our Alzheimer's support groups. Teri has always had a passion for helping people. She was born in Chicago and her family moved to Oklahoma when she was 12 years old. Teri describes herself as someone who always moved around a lot, with 5 years being the typical length of time she would spend somewhere. She grew up Catholic and carried that belief and her involvement in the church into her adult life. In addition to being a devout Catholic Teri would watch televangelists. One that she watched would always encourage people to get involved in a local Bible believing church at the end of his message. Through that televangelist and some things she began questioning in the Catholic church she was led to start trying local evangelical churches. Though the change was somewhat traumatic Teri explains how grateful she is for that event as she came to know Jesus as her personal Savior and understood what a loving church community looked like. She was even baptized at Desert Springs! A big point Teri makes is the importance of not just attending a church but being fully involved in one. The conversation goes back in time a little bit as Teri walks us through how her 30+ year career in Alzheimer's support began. Working to help the AIDS crisis in Florida gave her an understanding for what families go through when someone in that family unit has a terminal disease. It really is a beautiful story as God revealed this specific calling to care for those affected by Alzheimer's. You will hear some great testimonies as Teri shares some stories from her time in this line of work. A few weeks after this interview was recorded Teri made the decision to move back to Oklahoma. We will miss Teri dearly and are so thankful for her time and service here at Desert Springs!Alzheimer's Support Groups - https://dscchurch.churchcenter.com/registrations/events/1900233Care & Support Groups - https://dscchurch.churchcenter.com/registrations/events/1882239Connect with Teri - teri_sellers@msn.comResident Strangers podcast on Baptism - https://open.spotify.com/episode/2cnvaMZAM7pcXHS2xLJFAt?si=db45ff3845a748b0*available wherever you listen to podcastsWould you please subscribe and leave us a review? They discuss the Abrahamic roots of Arabic people groups, the history of Arabs in the Land, and how they recently came to be known as “Palestinians.” They also expose the Islamic mindset by looking at quotations from the Qur'an and contrasting them to biblical prophecy from the book of Isaiah. Navigating through the complexities of current conflicts, like the one between Israel and Hamas, can be challenging. The Rev. Text: Job 39 13 “The wings of the ostrich wave proudly, but are they the pinions and plumage of love? 14 For she leaves her eggs to the earth and lets them be warmed on the ground, 15 forgetting that a foot may crush them and that the wild beast may trample them. 16 She deals cruelly with her young, as if they were not hers; though her labor be in vain, yet she has no fear, 17 because God has made her forget wisdom and given her no share in understanding. 18 When she rouses herself to flee, she laughs at the horse and his rider. -Job 39:13-18 ESV AMAZING ANIMALS SHOWING GOD In chapter 38, God used numerous features of inanimate creations to question and refute Job's slight to His wisdom and power. These include questions about his knowledge of the creation of the earth, oceans, dawn, sun, the expanse of the earth, light and darkness, snow, hail, frost, thunderbolts, etc. Here in chapter 39, He posed rhetorical questions to Job about the dynamics of the animal kingdom. These questions include; Do you feed lions and their cubs or ravens and their young? [ 38:39-41], Do you know when mountain goats and deer are born?[39:1-4], Did you lose the wild donkey and care for each one?[39:5-8], Do you control the wild donkey or does he obey you? [39:9-12], Did you give the ostrich low intelligence? [39:13-18], Did you give the war horse abilities for war?[39:19-25] and Did you give the hawk and the eagle incredible eyesight?[39:6-30] Job was tongue-tied. He accused God of being silent. Now, he is the one in silence. It is impossible for Job or anyone, to know and explain all these, is it not? Animal scientists may be able to discover that a cattle that eat grass could produce milk. But, we ask, ‘Could man invent a machine that could transform grass into milk? What makes these animals tick with their unique features, skills, behavior, and survival instincts are controlled by God. Furthermore, their distinct descriptions do demonstrate God's goodness to each animal, seeing to it that these animals survive, don't they? For example, it appears as if the ostrich neglects her eggs and has no concern for her young because when she is frightened she runs away and leaves them. Hawks and eagles make their nests in higher places than other birds. Are they disadvantaged in looking for food? Yet they have remarkable eyesight, which enables them to see the tiniest objects from a great distance. God cares for them. How much more to us His very own children? Did not Jesus say, “Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?[Matt 6:26] ------------------------- Visit and FOLLOW Gospel Light Filipino on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram
In business, we can find ourselves questioning how much of our faith we should show to others. While we're called to share the Good News we also need to be practical in our approach. But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need yet closes his heart against them, how does God's love abide in him? Little children let us not love in word or talk, but in deed and in truth. (1 John 3:17-18)In today's episode, Tyler and I unpack the basics of how we can show God's heart through our work with returning guest Cody Persinger. Three Things You'll LearnTalking your talk and walking your walk are both important but many of us struggle with taking action. How can we be less passive in both our professional and personal lives?Business connections generally stay very transactional. We can adopt new strategies to deepen those relationships.Sharing our faith with others is exciting but we don't want to become "that guy/gal". It's often more effective to show Christ through our actions.About our GuestCody Persinger is a team leader, investor and the owner of The Persinger Group. Welcome to Day 1955 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom People Of Good Conscience – Daily Wisdom Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1954 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote and some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. So we are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on today's trek as we increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2016%3A16&version=NLT (Proverbs 16:16) How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver! If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Thomas Jefferson, and it is: All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent. People Of Good Conscience Even with all of the stress, strife, and uneasiness throughout the world in the past few years, much good is also being created. The people of America particularly are fiercely independent. Independence is part of the DNA on which the country was founded. But in our quote today, we see that even one of the founding fathers understood how quickly tyranny would destroy a fledgling nation. That is why he warned us that there are times when people need to speak up for injustices that are forced on the masses while the few who are rich and powerful attempt to control. The issue we face today is that both those on the extreme left and extreme right feel they are being oppressed while the remaining masses are left wondering what is happening and when the madness will end. We see that this is not just in the United States but all over the world. So while we need to stand up and speak up for actual injustices that occur, as Christ-followers, we must look at it from an eternal perspective. As the worldwide church, our primary vocation is to build the Kingdom of God so His will be done on earth as it is in heaven. So first, we must be praying for all who are in leadership and powerful positions that they will see their need to make decisions based on Biblical precepts found in His Word. Second, we need to unite as a global church and love each other as an example to the world. How can we expect strife to stop in our nations if the church cannot get along? Third, we must show our love to everyone in the world in word and deed, regardless of nationality, political persuasion, or moral bent. Let us, first love, and then we may have the opportunity to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with them. Showing God's love is the best way to stand up to tyranny worldwide. This attitude may require sacrifice on our part but think of the sacrifice Jesus Christ made on our behalf. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+13%3A34-35&version=NLT (John 13:34-35) So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” As you ponder this nugget of wisdom for yourself, please encourage your friends and family to join us and come along tomorrow for another day of ‘Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.' If you would like to listen to any of our past 1954 treks or read the Wisdom Journal, they are available at Wisdom-Trek.com. In addition, I encourage you to subscribe to Wisdom-Trek on your favorite podcast player to download each day's trek automatically. This week Pastor Lester shares that our mission is not just telling the world that God loves them but showing the world God loves them. Through us they taste and see that God is good. In this message we explore ways in which we can practically touch people with God's love which in turn will open their hearts to consider the message of the gospel.
