My guest this week is Ian Carlos Crawford, who you may know from the podcasts Slayerfest 98 and My Bloody Judy. As a youngster Ian felt something awakened in him by powerful women like Storm and Buffy — but it wasn't until moving to New York that he discovered it was a fandom he shared with a lot of other queer folks. And while that was a pleasant discovery, New York had some other less pleasant surprises in store for him, especially when he landed a job at Buzzfeed at possibly the worst possible time. We'll have that conversation in a minute. First, if you're enjoying The Sewers of Paris, I hope you'll consider supporting the show on Patreon. And you may also enjoy my other projects, like my podcast about the 90s TV series My So-Called Life, and my YouTube videos! Plus, check out my weekly livestreams on Twitch, my book Hi Honey, I'm Homo!, and my free email newsletter. There's links to all that in the episode shownotes, and at MattBaume.com.

Joining the conversation is drag icon Biqtch Puddin', who shares how the smart character construction of Cher Horowitz continues to inspire her. Then, acclaimed host of SLAYERFEST 98 Ian Carlos Crawford stops by to talk about a lifetime of love for the film and its messages of queer empowerment! From Calvin Klein dresses to being a total Betty, this episode has it all! Go!
In this engaging episode of Charlie and Steve Watch Stuff, hosts Steve Selnick and Charlie Peppers are joined by Ian Carlos Crawford, the prominent host of SlayerFest 98 and My Bloody Judy, to delve into the intriguing details of 'X-Men 97' episode 8, 'Tolerance is Extinction'. The discussion highlights Magneto's drastic measures against the Prime Sentinel threat by shutting down global electricity, character evolutions, and numerous action-packed scenes. Special attention is given to meaningful cameos from Spider-Man and other Marvel characters, exploring themes of bigotry and the repercussions of Magneto's actions. This episode is praised for its comprehensive analysis and the dynamic interaction between the hosts and their guest, rendering it a must-listen for fans eagerly following 'X-Men 97'. This week in Sunnydale, the competition is heating up faster than a vampire in sunlight! Cordis' complete lack of filter inspires a freshly dumped Buffy to awaken her inner homecoming queen and “stake” her claim at the crown. The dynamics of the Scooby gang get further splintered when Willow and Xander share a kiss that has all of us freaking out. They overcorrect by going #teamCordi and supporting her cut-throat campaign for the crown, leaving Buffy bewildered and kinda pissed! But that's not the only competition in Sunnydale this week! Mr. Trick has assembled a ragtag group of assassins to take part in Slayerfest '98 to collect the bounty on Buffy and Faith's heads! We've got Texture and Josie, supermodels, survivalists and Kulack who has the best damn mohawk we've ever seen! Of course, being that it's Sunnydale where all chaos ensues, Cordelia gets tangled into the mess of Slayerfest, so she and Buffy are forced to work together to try to get to homecoming in time to collect their crown. Can Buffy and Cordi put their fight on pause to escape from Mr. Trick's Slayerfest? Are Willow and Xander going to talk about THAT kiss? How does Ash feel now that we are FINALLY meeting THE MAYOR?! Tune in to find out!And don't forget to follow us on Instagram at the_rewatcher for special content! When Mr. Trick returns to Sunnydale to organize the first ever SlayerFest, Buffy faces her toughest fight yet: battling Cordelia for the title of homecoming queen. As if that weren't enough, all of her friends seem to have deserted her for Cordelia's camp. But not all is right among the Scoobies, for two of them have treachery in their hearts and cheating upon their lips. What happens when the one person you can trust is also out to take your crown? Hear us discuss… It's nice for Buffy to be doing normal high school things Homecoming queen competitions are sexist RIP Kulak of the Miquot Clan, we barely knew you! Buffy S3 E5: "Homecoming"/Gilmore Girls S3 E35: "Eight O'Clock at the Oasis" This week, both shows gave us games, disappointing car rides, and a couple of the goofiest scenes we've ever seen. In Sunnydale, Mr. Trick introduces us to a whole bunch of new weirdos, while over in Stars Hollow, another new weirdo, Dwight, just kinda shoves himself into Lorelai's life. Turns out high society tea time politics are almost as cutthroat as running for high school Homecoming queen. Both shows' editors use music to try to make us a feel a certain way about some potential couples. And Buffy may have survived Slayerfest '98, but will Bryan survive Cheesefest '21?Don't forget to follow us on social media for more Buffy/Gilmore content as well as other comedy content.YouTube:Bryan & StaceyInstagram:@gilmoreslayer@bryanandstacey@BMofunny@staceykulowTikTok:@gilmoreslayerTwitter:@gilmoreslayer@bryanandstacey@BMofunny@staceykulowFacebook:Bryan & StaceyBuffy the Gilmore SlayerCheck out bryanandstacey.com to find out what else we've been up to, or email us at:bryanandstaceyreviews@gmail.comTheme song written and performed by Louie Aronowitz @louiearonowitz

Welcome to our discussion of Buffy Season 3 Episode 5: Homecoming; Wherein a surprise date with Cordelia messes up Buffy's date with Faith. Our drinks this time are Slayerfest and The Spatula of Empowerment. Before we get too far, please make sure to take advantage of Plottr's final days of it's amazing sale before it's gone! You can find more out about Plottr here. In this, our second try at recording this episode thanks to some technological epic failure, we discuss further out theories about the previous episode and just how gay it—and possibly Oz—are before we move on to bigger and better things. We talk at length about Snard's theory about what is really going on between Xander and Willow, whether or not Angel knows he has a tattoo, more cargo for the ship of Buffy and Faith, and a whole lot more. As always, thank you for sticking through the rocky road of technical issues and life things this year, and please make sure to share us with your Buffy-loving friends and anyone else who might enjoy the show. Thank you for listening!

It's Homecoming week at Sunnydale High, and Cordelia and Buffy are locked in a serious competition for the title of Homecoming Queen. Their rivalry must take a back seat, however, when Mr. Trick pits the two of them against a group of professional Slayer-hunters in Slayerfest '98. Meanwhile, Willow and Xander kiss for the first time and are overcome with guilt. Kristen & Mike discuss our introduction to The Mayor as a character and the regression in Cordelia & Buffy's relationship. In Band Candy, true to totalitarian form, Principal Snyder forces the whole school to sell Band Candy (whether or not they play an instrument). Unfortunately, the candy is cursed. and any adult that consumes it reverts back to their teenage selves. Buffy and the gang must babysit their immature elders while also tracking down the candy's origin. Kristen & Mike examine what we learn about these adults from their adolescent states, and speculate as to Ethan's future plans for these poisoned sweets.
