How Woke Uses Political Warfare as Intelligence Operations

New Discourses Bullets, Ep. 118 Much of what Woke does in practice boils down to a certain kind of intelligence maneuver that might be referred to as "displacement." It's important to understand this activity because it is a bread-and-butter technique of Woke manipulation. In short, the Woke are masters of striking a target and getting the target to believe the strike came from somewhere else, which they will then attack instead of attacking the Woke. In this episode of New Discourses Bullets, host James Lindsay explains this important manipulative tactic so you can learn to see it and get out from under its spell. New book! The New Discourses Podcast with James Lindsay, Ep. 167 As recently introduced on the New Discourses Podcast, the Nazis performed an experiment of sorts (https://newdiscourses.com/2025/03/woke-nationalism-and-the-nazi-experiment/) between the mid 1920s and 1945, when that experiment met its catastrophic end. Framing what they did as an experiment is a valuable perspective. They found themselves in a certain set of unpleasant societal conditions, and they turned to Nazism to solve their problems. It failed. Miserably and disastrously. That experiment is therefore a warning to the world: if you find yourselves in conditions that seem similar, do not go the way of the Nazis. In this New Discourses podcast series, host James Lindsay walks the listener through portions of Hitler's Mein Kampf to explain clearly what the basis for the Nazi Experiment was, so that we might understand it. In this first episode, he reads from Chapter 1 of Volume 2 of that wretched book to explain the Nazi racial worldview (weltanshauung), which built the state we know and rightly hate on deliberate, knowing "racialism" (racism). Join him to understand and to see how close history is to rhyming again. New book! There's an internal coup attempt happening, trying to take over MAGA from within and steal its thunder. In a recent big essay published on New Discourses (read it here), James Lindsay explains in unprecedented detail what Woke is, how it operates as a false-elitist cult, how it manifests on both Left and Right, and finally, how the Woke Right is using a mechanism called "elitist capture" to run a four-step coup of MAGA and America that has sparked a "MAGA Civil War" in response. In this episode of the New Discourses Podcast, Lindsay, as host, reads the near-final draft of this essay with minimal additional commentary. The Hierophant represents my guest today on The Tarot Table. This card embodies structured wisdom, tradition, and spiritual guidance. Often portrayed as a religious leader or spiritual mentor, this card represents the transmission of knowledge, rituals, and belief systems across generations. It encourages learning from established sources, honoring cultural and spiritual traditions, and seeking mentorship. At the same time, the Hierophant invites us to reflect on those structures critically—to question outdated norms and uncover personal truths within collective frameworks. This card may point to institutions, spiritual leadership, or shared values in a reading. It often signifies a time to align with ethical principles, embrace higher learning, and seek connections to something greater than oneself. The Hierophant represents my guest today, Cassandra Snow. Who Is Cassandra Snow?Cassandra Snow is the visionary author of Queering the Tarot and Queering Your Craft: Witchcraft from the Margins. The New Discourses Podcast with James Lindsay, Ep. 165 The "New Atheism" movement, which lasted more or less from 2005 until 2015, was a cringey and curious thing, and it has become an object of much mythology, particularly on the highly online, largely Christian Right. Tamara Lea Spira's Queering Families: Reproductive Justice in Precarious Times (U California Press, 2025) traces the shifting dominant meanings of queer family from the late twentieth century to today. With this book, Spira highlights the growing embrace of normative family structures by LGBTQ+ movements--calling into question how many queers, once deemed unfit to parent, have become contradictory agents within the US empire's racial and colonial agendas. Simultaneously, Queering Families celebrates the rich history of queer reproductive justice, from the radical movements of the 1970s through the present, led by Black, decolonial, and queer of color feminist activists. Ultimately, Spira argues that queering reproductive justice impels us to build communities of care to cherish and uphold the lives of those who, defying normativity's violent stranglehold, are deemed to be unworthy of life. She issues the call to lovingly wager a future for the world's children, the planet, and all living beings against all odds, and in increasingly perilous times. New Discourses Bullets, Ep. 116 "To rebel is justified," Mao told his young Red Guard, loosing them on China at the beginning of the brutal Cultural Revolution. He wanted them to expose the "capitalist roaders" who had ruined everything in the Great Leap Forward and afterwards, as he led them to believe. "Smash the Four Olds!" he commanded, and his young, thoughtless followers did, breaking every taboo of Chinese culture to vent their frustrations with a situation they were led to believe was intolerable because of their class enemies and wrong thinking. Today, it's not Mao; it's MAGA influencers. It's not capitalist roaders being hunted; it's "neocons," whatever they mean by that. It's not the Four Olds that must be smashed; it's "Boomer mentality." But what happens if you apply a queer studies lens to the faith? This task was taken up by Kalamazoo College's Chair of Religion Taylor G. Petrey in his recent book, Queering Kinship in the Mormon Cosmos. On today's episode of Scholars & Saints, Dr. Petrey discusses the results of such an analysis with host Nicholas Shrum, focusing particularly on deep relationships of care known as kinship. From considering the gendered inter-relations of the Godhead to the role of Heavenly Mother, Dr. Petrey seeks to open up the world of Mormon theology to consider new cosmologies for underrepresented people groups. To find out more about Dr. Petrey and his upcoming projects, click here.

The New Discourses Podcast with James Lindsay, Ep. 164 What is the Woke worldview? It's called "critical constructivism." How is it adopted? The formal name for picking up "Wokeness" is adopting "critical hermeneutics." What in the world does that mean? It means viewing the world through lenses of power as described by critical theory and social constructivism. That is, it means reading Marxian analysis into all perceptions of the world and believing this makes you more "enlightened." In this episode of the New Discourses Podcast, host James Lindsay takes you through another segment of what he calls "The Book of Woke," i.e., Critical Constructivism: A Primer (https://amzn.to/3EuM2mZ ), by Joe L. Kincheloe, a (late) critical education theorist. Join him to have all these questions answered and to clarify your thinking about what "Woke" means even more. Is the radical right becoming the very thing it hates? Dr. Jordan B. Peterson sits down with Dr. James Lindsay to unpack the rise of the "Woke Right"—a faction of online reactionaries using the same tactics of victimhood, outrage mobs, and cult-like behavior once exclusive to the radical left. Together, they explore how parasitic ideologies hijack belief systems, mimic virtue, and weaponize social media to manipulate the masses. From cluster B psychopathology to Nazi apologetics, from Marx to modern meme culture, this is a deep dive into the psychological and ideological rot infecting both ends of the spectrum. If you've sensed that something is deeply wrong in today's culture wars—on both sides—this episode puts it into words. Dr. James Lindsay has written eight books spanning a range of subjects including education, postmodern theory, and critical race theory. Dr. Lindsay is the Founder of New Discourses, an organization dedicated to shining the light of objective truth in subjective darkness.  Dr. Lindsay is the co-author of “Cynical Theories: How Activist Scholarship Made Everything about Race, Gender, and Identity―and Why This Harms Everybody” and is the author of “Race Marxism,” as well as his newest book, “The Marxification of Education.” Dr. Lindsay has been a featured guest on Fox News, Glenn Beck, Joe Rogan, and NPR, and he has spoken at the Oxford Union and the EU Parliament. This episode was filmed on April, 29th, 2025.  | Links | For Dr. James Lindsay: On X https://x.com/ConceptualJames?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor On YouTube https://www.youtube.com/@newdiscourses/videos Read his latest book, “The Queering of the American Child: How a New School Religious Cult Poisons the Minds and Bodies of Normal Kids” https://a.co/d/9lpXvGc

In Part Two of our Queering Talks series with Dr. Jen Self, we will center the voices of those who have always led the way in liberation movements, claiming the spotlight for those who have consistently been “out in front” of struggles for justice, love, and equity, demonstrating that the margins have always been the source of radical change. Queering leadership is not just about reclaiming lost stories; it's about futurism — imagining and building new realities. Leaders who live at the intersections of power systems have long envisioned new possibilities and turned them into reality. They've led us beyond the dismantling of oppressive systems and into the creation of new spaces where power is shared, community is centered, and liberation is a lived practice. Queer futurism taps into the resilience and creativity of those who dream beyond the status quo, moving us from inclusion to transformation, and inviting us to build new worlds rooted in radical imagination and collective care. From the beginning, Town Hall has been a space for meeting the needs of our city—hosting concerts, book talks, and new ways to connect. This bold new series reimagines the traditional lecture format through a queer lens, challenging ideas about who speaks, who listens, and who is centered. Built around three themes — In Between (exploring fluid identities and spaces), Out in Front (centering changemakers leading justice and equality movements), and Always Been (highlighting the historic contributions of queer visionaries)—this series promises to inspire, expand perspectives, and celebrate inclusivity. Join us in sparking meaningful conversations and building a community that values growth and connection. Dr. Jen Self (they/them) is a therapist, educator, performer, and writer whose work lives in the third space—the liminal zone where identities, systems, and possibilities collide and transform. As the founding director of the University of Washington's Q Center, Jen reimagined what it means to create community healing spaces by centering a queer intersectional praxis. Jen knows that macro changes take place in our everyday decisions and actions. Their career spans decades of racial and gender justice work as a therapist, educator, strategist, program innovator, and truth sayer, navigating—and disrupting—institutions to make them more humane and transformative. Jen's current projects include writing everything from maps on napkins to a memoir, co-leading The Racial Healing Project, and co-creating the Queer Leadership Lab. Ariyah Jané is a Black Trans-Woman from Montgomery, Alabama. Deeply rooted in her diverse background, her artistry spans Musical Theatre, Gospel, and Blues. She has performed in celebrated productions like Ain't Misbehavin', graced the iconic stage of Carnegie Hall, and shared the stage with top contestants on the 2019 Sunday's Best Tour. In 2024, she released her debut EP, Dear Ariyah. Beyond her musical achievements, Ariyah is the founder and CEO of Muses and Moguls, a creative support network for independent and emerging artists navigating the challenges of the entertainment industry. She is a passionate advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community and focuses on public service, housing, and healthcare advocacy for queer and gender non-conforming individuals. In this groundbreaking and controversial episode of the New Discourses Podcast, host James Lindsay explains how the first true Stakeholder economy was instituted in Nazi Germany in 1937 with the passage of a National Socialist Shareholder Law, and that both the Woke Left and New Right (or Woke Right) champion that same model today, alongside the WEF, UN, Club of Rome, CCP, and all the rest. New Discourses Bullets, Ep. 112 There's a political theory known as unbound executive theory. It originates with a German thinker, later turned Nazi, named Carl Schmitt. Schmitt, whose political theories were useful to Fascists and finds employment by the CCP in the People's Republic of China today, believed that for a sovereign or chief executive to truly be sovereign, he must be able to exempt himself at need from the general rule of law. That is, the executive must be able to become unbound by law, including the national constitution. Schmitt argues this should take place under special emergency circumstances called "the state of exception," which is to say a crisis, perhaps like Covid-19 or to remove Woke infiltration. Woke Nationalism and the Nazi Experiment

The New Discourses Podcast with James Lindsay, Ep. 161 In many respects, things were not going well in Germany in the 1920s and 1930s in the wake of the First World War. The population was humiliated and impoverished, distrusted throughout Europe, and riddled with various problems of social and cultural degeneracy, not least rampant corruption and the relentless manipulations of Marxism. To address these problems, a grand experiment was performed under the direction of Adolf Hitler, the Nazi Experiment. This Nazi Experiment was not just catastrophic but horrific, rightly an icon of the possible depths of human evil. Today, some would have us look at that experiment for inspiration, suggesting its terrible, monstrous evil mistells the tale. In this daring episode of the New Discourses Podcast, host James Lindsay reads directly from the source of the vile beginnings of the Nazi Experiment, the second chapter of Adolf Hitler's infamous Mein Kampf (https://der-fuehrer.org/meinkampf/english/Mein%20Kampf%20(Ford%20Translation).pdf). He does so to highlight the fatal errors Hitler was making even then, which he sees being repeated across certain rising sectors of the American and Western Right today. Join him for another hard-hitting episode that makes abundantly clear why Never Again is now. New book! The Deadly Fraud of Restorative Justice in Schools

The New Discourses Podcast with James Lindsay, Ep. 160 If you had to narrow it down to a single reason our school classrooms and hallways have become so much more dangerous, rough, irreverent, and violent, any honest assessment would identify the widespread misapplication of restorative justice programs. It's long past time we face up to this fact, which was first exposed in the unbelievably important book Why Meadow Died by Andrew Pollack (https://amzn.to/41y1TKi), whose child died in the Parkland school shooting in Florida, and AEI fellow Max Eden. The problem didn't start in Parkland, however; it started in Oakland, and it spread as a result of pressures coming from the Office of Civil Rights in Obama's Department of Education well over a decade ago. As with so much in Woke education, the problem is infinitely worse and more fraudulent than one has any right to expect. In this episode of the New Discourses Podcast, host James Lindsay reads some of Fania Davis's (Angela Davis's sister) ridiculous book The Little Book of Race and Restorative Justice (https://amzn.to/3D67bU0) along with a report cited by Davis (https://shorturl.at/nU6TA) in support of a program that simply doesn't work. It's time for America's parents to stand up to restorative justice and demand it be removed from our schools. New book! The New Discourses Podcast with James Lindsay, Ep. 159 By virtue of the technological world we inhabit, we live in a propaganda-saturated environment. In fact, whether we like it or not, we all live in a psychological warfare battlespace, which requires us all to prepare ourselves for that environment. As ever, preparation begins with understanding. In this deep-diving episode of the New Discourses Podcast, host James Lindsay pulls back the curtain on "agitprop," the combination of agitation and propaganda to wage psychological and political warfare, ranging from Communists like Lenin to Nazis like Hitler. You won't want to miss this opportunity to learn how we're all being manipulated. New book!
