It's a case of friends reunited for this episode as Sachin is joined by his pal – and brilliant podcaster – Ash Rose for a chat about Queens Park Rangers. Staying in the 90s, Ash also talks about being at Loftus Road to witness THAT goal by Trevor Sinclair before the conversation moves onto arguably the most tumultuous time in QPR's history – the Flavio Briatore-Bernie Ecclestone era, four years of constantly changing managers and off-pitch controversies that was perfectly captured in The Four Year Plan, the incredible, jaw-dropping documentary by Mat Hodgson. Ash lived every second of this period and has plenty to say about it all. Andrew Clarke is chef-director at the St Leonards and Brunswick House restaurants in London. The food he creates are delectable pieces of art. After an abrupt social media ‘hiatus' at the beginning of the year Andrew, took some time to focus on his restaurants and gather some introspective. He has come back online and in life, fighting - being the latest recipient and winner of the “Innovation Award” at The Craft Guild of Chefs Awards this year and a nominee of the Estrella Damm National Restaurant of the year awards. A self proclaimed 'reluctant' chef, Andrew shares how a pivotal life-changing incident lead him on a journey through mental illness that taught him how to deal with and succeed despite such setbacks. It's no wonder that he is also the founder of a very successful "Pilot Light campaign" which was born out of his direct experience devoted to combatting the stigma surrounding mental health in hospitality specifically and having a profound impact. I'm big time pumped up for today's podcast, because joining me for this episode is Ricky Walters, the creator and owner of Salon64 – a salon concept that is revolutionising the traditional hair salon. Top London hairstylist Ricky developed the unique Salon64 concept whilst walking around London and was bored of seeing all hair salons looking the same. Seeing a gap in the market, he went about asking himself: what a salon is and what a salon does?? The final push Ricky needed to creating Salon64 came when managing a salon within a five star hotel and regularly been asked by clients: Do you have a phone charger and can I stay afterwards to do my make-up and get myself ready for a night out with my friends?? Being in five star hotel he would always say yes, but deep down he thought; no you can't, thats my chair, I've got clients waiting, and now I've got to move someone around to accommodate this. In 2017 Ricky took the leap to opening Salon64 in London's Soho. He took the salons inspiration from the original French salon and brought into the modern age, by changing the hair & beauty experience for the future. A social hub where patrons can meet, retreat, work and enjoy a host of styling and pampering services, we're about to learn about this revolutionary concept and the design that inspires the art of conversation through it's transformative spaces such as The Fire Pits, The Style Bar and The Bar. As salon owners we often play it safe and follow the same old traditional salon business model and concept.
