I'm Loreta and in this episode, I will be sharing about the importance of BEING IN A PEAK STATE ALWAYS!!! Being in a peak state is to function and operate at the level we want to be, so that we can achieve your dream, fulfil our destiny and inspire others to do the same. Our emotions are the foundation that peak state is built upon. They have the ability to control everything in our lives – our mood, our decisions and our actions. We need to get into a positive state to make progress and be productive. What is your desired state? How do you manage your emotions? How do you speak to yourself? To your family? To your spouse? To your Children? Colleague? Etc  Story: You're in a negative state and mood, so you watch a sad movie (drama), or listen to sentimental or depressing songs Negative Positive self-talk I feel sick I am well and healthy I am tired I am full of energy I am poor I am rich Believe, Declare and Receive (Claim it!) Achieving a positive mindset comes down to understanding Tony Robbins' triad of emotional psychology. This involves mastering the three forces that control our emotions – ie physiology, language and focus.  1. PHYSIOLOGY (ACTION) The first component of the triad is physiology. Physiology refers to our body and all its systems. Physiology dictates our feelings: How we use our body affects how we feel mentally and emotionally. If we want to master our feelings, we must be aware of how our feelings and our body are interconnected: If we stand up straight, we'll feel more proud and alert. If we slump over and neglect our body, we're more likely to feel negatively. The next time we find yourself in a bad mood, stand up and breathe deeply. We have the power to reset our mind and mood. Healthy mind = healthy body HOW YOU DO ANYTHING IS HOW YOU DO EVERYTHING! 2. FOCUS Tony tells us, “Where focus goes, energy flows.” The second component of the triad says that what we put our focus on is where you set our intention. Focus on the things we want and are working toward, instead of the things holding us back. Setting our focus on the positives is one of the most essential steps toward achieving our peak state. Requires DISCIPLINE, beware of distractions!  3. LANGUAGE (WORDS) The third component of the triad is language. We speak to ourselves internally and out loud. How we talk to ourselves determines how we operate in the world. If we ask questions like “Why do bad things always happen to me?” instead of “What can I do to better my situation?” we are more likely to feel powerless in our own life. How we use language determines what emotions we feel, so let's choose wise and empowering words when we speak to ourselves. Proverbs 18:21 (NIV) The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. Use transformational, right and empowering words. Intensity of words intensifies situation. EPISODE 18 – SOWING AND REAPING  Welcome to DREAM TO SHINE show. I'm Loreta and in this episode, let's talk about sowing and reaping: (1) Right Seeds (2) Sowing (3) Reaping  2 Corinthians 9:6-7 New International Version (NIV) Generosity Encouraged 6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.  Mark 4 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV) A Story About a Farmer Sowing Seed 3 “Listen! A farmer went out to sow seed. 4 While he was scattering the seed, some of it fell by the road. The birds came and ate all that seed. 5 Other seed fell on rocky ground, where there was not enough dirt. It grew quickly there because the soil was not deep. 6 But then the sun rose and the plants were burned. They died because they did not have deep roots. 7 Some other seed fell among thorny weeds. Love, Joy? Our dreams are also seeds … that we should sow, nurture, water, til the harvest time, ie we have achieved it and it's bearing the fruits that we have envisioned from the time our dreams was conceived  STORY 2 – SOWING Where do you sow these seeds? Are you sowing sparingly? Are you sowing bountifully?  Know your PURPOSE, believe your assignment, document your VISION  VISION – See the end results Submit to the right environment. Plant that seed in the ground, give it water, give it nutrients Greatness can be destroyed by wrong environment Books you read, the people you are with, the places you go, the church you attend, all relate to WHAT YOU BECOME FEED ON THE RIGHT MATERIALS As we take care of our physical body by taking the right food, so should we feed our mind with right information When you put that fertilizers on the seed, that seed gets happy. WHAT ARE YOU FERTILIZING YOUR MIND WITH? WHAT ARE YOU FEEDING YOUR VISION? WHAT ARE YOU FEEDING YOUR GIFT? GIVE YOUR GIFT TIME TO DEVELOP. Nurture it. You may search Kathy Buckley in Youtube, check the time it has to be more than 30minutes video. In this video, I've learned more about myself, my strength and weaknesses, and how to forgive and let go in order for me to step-into the next season of my life. Kathy Buckley – gifted comedienne, award winning actress, incredible author, first hearing-impaired comedienne. She an Amazing Woman, she's wickedly funny and highly inspirational. But she's more than just a comic; her humor is infused with a higher purpose: To teach us that anything is possible when our hearts and minds work in tandem. She's a popular motivational speaker, a five-time American Comedy Award nominee for best stand-up female comedienne, an actress and a best-selling author. WOW!!! My challenges and breakthroughs are incomparable to Kathy's but I can totally relate to her not on the physical impairment but mental challenges and limiting beliefs (of which I've already shared in my previous episode Overcoming Self-Limiting Beliefs) Kathy's challenges is actually incomparable with Ruth's a quadriplegic who wrote 2 top-and-best-selling books!!! Ruth was institutionalized for 30 years. Can you imagine that???!!! Well, It's best for you to watch Kathy Buckley's youtube video and listen to her story. I have so much takeaways and realizations from Kathy Buckley's story. Being on a new crossroad, trying to figure out what is life after 50… A new perspective in LIFE! “It's natural to pass judgement on somebody, just remember, it doesn't define them, it defines YOU! The minute we put a judgement on another human being, you're saying they are limited in life. Nobody is limited in this life, don't pass judgement, least of all on yourself!” – Kathy But most of the time, we are being judged, we are placed in a box, we are labelled! Here's an exercise …. Episode 14 LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST AND DARE TO SHARE YOUR DREAMS21 May 2020, My brother-in-law passed away, gone too soon at 38, and I can't be there for my sister and Family in the Philippines because I am in Singapore. His life was taken away by someone else! Mixed emotions …. 22 May is my mother's 76th birthday but instead of celebrating her birthday, we are mourning, my sisters had to prepare for my brother-in-law's funeral and burial. Cliff, left his wife and 3 children just like that! Death is really like a thief in the night you'll never know when it will attack and no one is really ever prepared for it. How you lived your life? Reflections:How I lived my life?What are the choices I make I Could have spent more time talking to my brother-in-law … Have I fulfilled my dream and purpose in this lifetime? For OFWs, if something happen in the Philippines, all we could do is cry for our family, send financial support, and everything else is detached and heart breaking. It's different to be by your family's side to comfort them and be truly present with them.  When my father passed away many years ago due to heart attack and stroke, I couldn't be there at his hospital bed-side it was my best friend Angie who put the cellphone near his ear and I spoke to my father over the phone hoping that he will still be able to hear my voice eventhough he was already in comma. We didn't have a great father and daughter relationship after he came back for good to the Philippines from working as electrician in Saipan & Guam for 6 years. He can't work overseas anymore due to enlargement of his heart. I was 12 yrs old that time. In the Philippines most of his projects are provincial so we seldom see him also. When he's at home, he doesn't like noise. Imagine watching a comedy show and he would stop us from laughing out loud. Welcome to DREAM TO SHINE show. I'm Loreta and in this episode, LET'S TALK ABOUT DETERMINATION and PERSEVERANCE!!! I will be sharing about how I overcome challenges through perseverance and determination … James 1:12 New International Version (NIV) 12 Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.  What is perseverance? Perseverance is not giving up. It is persistence and tenacity, the effort required to do something and keep doing it ‘till the end, even if it's hard. WOW! Persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success. Determination is the quality that you show when you have decided to do something and you will not let anything stop you. Determination gives you the resolve to keep going in spite of the roadblocks that lay before you. Denis Waitley PERSEVERANCE AND DETERMINATION is my way of life. Giving up has never been part of my vocabulary! I'm a go-getter (I know what I want, and I know how to get it). Once I set my mind, heart and soul into something, I'll make sure I'll get it! I'll make sure it happens no matter what it takes. Of course, without stepping into someone else's toes or hurting someone. I always believe that If at first you don't succeed, try again. Try and try until you succeed. (not until you die, ok?!!!) Thomas Edison who invented the light bulb and his famous quotes “I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.” Thomas Edison did not consider the number of ways or the number of times he tried as a failure. He considered it as finding 10,000 ways that won't work. Would you be willing to try 10,000 times until you succeed? Would you be willing to find 10,000 ways to make things work?  It's a blessing that I don't have to try 10,000 times to achieve my dreams and goals. But even if I had to, I will keep on trying and find 10,000 ways until I succeed and achieve my dreams.   How about you? How many ways are you going to find in order to succeed? How many times are you willing to keep trying until you succeed?  In my podcast episode “GOING WHERE YOU WANT TO BE”, I shared about my driver's license story and that I passed first lesson after 8th attempts. I persevered and had a breakthrough! I almost gave up, but I passed and so I continued my lessons until I got my driver's license.  I remember  After graduating high school in 1986, I was told by my Father that he can't support my college education anymore that it's best to just sell something like vegetables and start earning. I was taken aback! I wanted to beg and argue with him that time, “Tatay,” (that's what I call my father), “I'm a consistent first honor student since Primary 1, I'm a valedictorian. I can apply for scholarship in any university! Just give me some money for transportation and to pay exams! But what's the point begging or arguing? He doesn't have the money! His salary is just enough for our food and for us to get by. He will not be able to relate anyway on why I want to go to university, coz he only finished primary 4, it's not his fault that he lost his parents at an early age. Is this giving up? Nah, it's just a DELAY. There must be another way! During that time, in our town, going to Japan as entertainer is very common and it's sponsored for free and salary deduction later once you pass. My neighbors have done it, and so I thought of trying it for at least 6 months until I can save the money for college. I love to sing and dance anyway, why not use my talent and join a dance group. I practiced and practice, til muscles were sored and body ached. Gotta wear high heels and sweat it all out. I thought it's gonna be an easy task, but IT'S NOT!!! I attended several auditions and keeps failing. I tried several promotions group but it didn't work! Until my appendix gave up! I had apendictomy!!! Did I give up? Of course not, I just took a short break in dancing and I joined a female band as a drummer!  I dreamt of becoming a drummer too! For those who know me, can you imagine? Loreta, a drummer? Have you ever thought of me as a drummer? Well, the manager didn't think so, and assigned me to be the lead vocalist instead. OMG! Life is really funny you know! I practiced for a while but ran out of money so I stopped attending and did not pursue this path anymore. I don't want my mother to keep on borrowing money from her friends. My father doesn't know that time. I am grateful for my mother's support as well as to our generous neighbors whom I consider Aunties and Uncles so I can go to college. Anyway, I decided and accepted that this entertainment world and career path isn't for me. God must have other plans for me! After almost a year, my high school friend Shirley told me she's taking entrance exam at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, so I told my mother I want to take the exam too. Once again she borrowed money from her friends. I took the university exam and passed. Now, comes the time to decide what course to take, as we don't have subject in high school that talks about career paths, I really have no idea what course to take. My mother told me to be a teacher or take civil engineering course because I'm quiet, and all these are based on our friends or neighbors' inputs. So, I went up and down to find a course to queue up for, the civil engineering queue is very long, so I tried accountancy, same long queue, so at the 6th floor, there's a shorter queue and the person-in-charged were very friendly and accommodating. It's Bachelor in Information Technology, they told me I'm qualified, so, I registered, not knowing that we're the first batch for this new course. THIS IS IT LORD! Then, I applied for scholarship and graduated cum laude (with honor). I thank God for the detour, the challenges and the support of all the people He sent into my life!   Our greatest weakness in life lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time. So, if I had given up on my dream to get a university degree, I wouldn't have had the opportunity to work overseas, in the National University of Singapore as IT Systems Analyst. And after several years, who would have thought I wouldn't be doing podcasting now.  There's an endless opportunities out there.  So, what about my dream of becoming a performer, entertainer, drummer?  I can do that too …. I can do FB live and perform.  Let's continue to bloom where we are planted to dream and shine  CONCLUSIONS: IT TAKES PERSEVERANCE AND DETERMINATION TO PURSUE AND ACHIEVE YOUR DREAMS  CALL TO ACTION • NEVER GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS UNTIL YOU SHINE AND SUCCEED. • Take a leap of faith! We learn from our parents stories and breakthroughs.  I, have a 21 years old son, his name is Paulo Jhimmel, a graduate of Business IT in Singapore Polytecnic and serving the army, I have 14 years old daughter, her name is Jade. Paulo named his sister after Jackie Chan's niece Jade in the cartoon series.  How to be a good parent? Raising a child … Raising children, my mother-in-law has 8!!! My husband is the 2nd son. My mother has 3 daughters (excluding) my still born brother  Every CHILD is A GIFT a Blessing from God  I have lots of Fears due to the vicious cycle of victims of victims and that I won't be a good mother to my children. Or that I would do the things my parents do to my children. But my love for children exceeds everything else. I praise and the Lord for blessing me with a son, I knew right then and there that I'm gonna be having a son. I felt like Mama Mary when she got the dream and vision that she will have to bear Jesus the Savior. And when she said “Fiat, be it done unto me according to Your word”. Being a Mother is really the toughest job of all. And just carrying the child for 9 months is already tough enough. I had a very difficult pregnancy, not able to eat, I survived the 1st 3 months with skyflakes and instant noodles, the rest of the food got this fishy smell that I can't take, I was hospitalized for low hemoglobin, etc  My son was already 6 years old when we received another blessing, and this time I also knew and felt that for my 2nd child, I'm gonna have a daughter. They can be things like mowing the lawn, doing the dishes, or getting up in the middle of the night to take care of the little one, letting you sleep. I've also learned about Love Tank. TRANSCRIPT FOR EP8:EPISODE 8 - LOVE IS A DECISION Welcome to DREAM TO SHINE show. I'm Loreta and in this episode, let's talk about LOVE IS A DECISION (married life)…  When we were young, we're often asked “What is your Ideal Man or Ideal Woman?” We'll I watched this old Tagalog movie, where the lead star is collecting photos of her ideal guy from a magazine and pasting the parts into a blank sheet of paper. She cut the eyes of one guy, then the nose, the mouth etc until she formed her ideal guy, and the guy actually appeared in real life and they lived happily ever after. What I'm trying to point out is that we had to set our ideal partner and clearly specify the features and qualities. For my case, I wanted a smart, tall, good-looking guy with a good-sense of humor and can make me laugh. And I prayed over my partner.  We live in the same village but different barangay. We met at the choir, he was bass and I'm alto. We started as friends, we have a lot of things in common. We clicked! We had chemistry. We're both proud and sometimes boastful. We both have big dreams which is to graduate and get a good paying job. However, our romance lasted for a year only and we parted ways. But after 5 years, we bumped into each other in a jeepney and took the same bus since we're both heading the same way. He's heading to Laguna and I'm heading to Makati. So, we started to re-connect and hang out with friends and they started teasing us again. And I went to Singapore and he followed.  Falling in love is easy. Staying in love—that's the challenge! How can you keep your relationship fresh and growing amidst the demands, conflicts, and just plain boredom of everyday life? With children  There is no school or class teaching us about relationships especially marriage   It's true that once you and your partner lives under 1 roof, you will start to figure out to learn more about each other and each one will press a button that may trigger something that will cause a lot of negativities. In the beginning of your relationship, you are counting the many ways, of “how do I love thee”, but after getting married, you “Start to count ways of how you get into each other's nerves.”  After 3 years of marriage, we attended Marriage Encounter Weekend, right after our long CNY trip to KL, Genting and JB.  Men are from Mars, Women from Venus by John Gray Any kind of relationship must be 2-way, give and take, like dancing cha-cha With new insight you have the added wisdom and power to change your approach rather than seeking to change your partner.  Many times a woman just wants to share her feelings about her day, and her husband, thinking he is helping, interrupts her by offering a steady flow of solutions to her problems.  When a man invalidates a woman's feelings … I hope this episode about LOVE IS A DECISION will inspire and empower you to make your dream marriage and relationship fulfilled.I look forward to seeing you in my next episode where I will be sharing more of my personal journey and breakthroughs on how you too could DREAM TO SHINE.

I'm Loreta and in this episode, let's talk about THE ESSENCE OF 4x4 LEADERSHIP… I remember this verse in the Bible, Matthew 22:14 (NKJV) “For many are called, but few are chosen.”. My take on this is how we respond to the CALL.  Which I learned from the FRICH REVOLUTION LEADERSHIP TRAINING CAMP We are all called to be Leaders. Leaders Goes First Leaders Create Lasting Impact and Change  Scale and Depth (refer to TRL lecture) Remember this >>> We can't take someone we have never been! We have to be there, we have to experience it, only then can we take or lead someone to be where they wanted to be.  - From Oneself to Family to Community to Nation and World- I've learned about the scale and depth of a leader and have experienced it too.I came to realize that human beings are truly selfish always focusing on Oneself, the what's in it for me mentality, that if we don't get anything out of it, we won't participate, we won't join, we won't support. As long as we don't CONQUER ONESELF, or ourself, we will not be able to get out of our inner world and expand our outer world. We are like TAKERS and challenged to be GIVERS. Perhaps because I am the eldest daughter that's why I was compelled and forced to be GIVER to forget about myself and take care of my siblings and others. But if this is the case, neglecting oneself will also leave a hole that needs to be filled. And so, I started chasing dreams for myself. I focused on the “ONESELF” zone.
