Geri Jewell is a Comedian/Actor/Motivational Speaker/Author and (thanks to Norman Lear) the trailblazing first person with a visible disability to appear as a TV show regular! Geri went straight from special ed to special treatment as a Facts of Life cast member, portraying Blair's Cousin Geri and providing essential representation for kids growing up and living with Cerebral Palsy. Geri's life and career have always been an inspiration, as evidenced by her brand new coffee table book 'Geri's Jewels & Gems', which will provide you with a fresh, positive perspective on the inevitable hardships and struggles we all face. Brace for Geri's sunny outlook, grit and determination to shift your mood and encourage you to pursue your own dreams! As a child, Geri's imagination took her to Wimbledon, standup comedy stages and Hollywood. She was soon exchanging letters with Carol Burnett, performing at the Comedy Store and playing doubles with John McEnroe and Arthur Ash! Her mother had warned her, “Be careful what you wish for.” Geri teaches us that kids with disabilities often grow up emotionally stunted because so much emphasis is placed on their physical development. Cast in an NBC sitcom at the age of 23, Geri was a rich target for unscrupulous managers and “friends.” She frequently lost her way while being misunderstood, underestimated and searching for the courage to live an openly gay life. The physical beating of Cerebral Palsy can be very painful and poor balance leads to debilitating falls. Geri was recovering from back and neck surgery, waiting in line at CVS to purchase botox for her neck pain when David Milch approached her and felt inspired to cast her in Deadwood! Your next miracle could be just around the corner! Geri talks to us about her first inspirational book called I'm Walking As Straight As I Can, her determination to defy expectations, how CP has provided her with unique insights into the human condition and her intention to help others reach their potential. Then Geri's best friend, hearing impaired comedian Kathy Buckley joins us on the panel  to share more truly adorable anecdotes and adventures. Plus, Fritz and Weezy are recommending My Brilliant Friend on HBO and Daughters on Netflix.Path Points of Interest:Geri JewellGeri Jewell on WikiI'm Walking As Straight As I Can by Geri JewellGeri's Jewels and Gems by Gery JewellGeri Jewell on YoutubeGeri Jewell at Ability MagazineGeri Jewell on FacebookKathy BuckleyKathy Buckley on InstagramMy Brilliant Friend on HBODaughters - NetflixMedia Path PodcastGift Of Democracy

There are all kinds of reasons Chris Hendricks could have a poor outlook: he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at age 4 and his doctor told him he would have a hard time in life; he was in and out of a wheelchair in middle and high school and suffered the particular brand of cruelty practiced by teenagers; at one point, he lost his grandmother, his girlfriend and his band all at the same time. Life has not been easy for Chris. However, Chris chooses to look for magical moments instead of miserable ones. He uses music when he needs inspiration and lives by the philosophy that believing is seeing instead of the opposite. Please listen in to hear some of Chris' story, and his amazing music that are part of his perfectly imperfect journey.     Bio  Chris Hendricks' music is a blend of pop and RnB with sprinkles of influence from James Taylor to Eminmen. Chris began singing at the age of four for friends and family and hasn't stopped since. He's been a songwriter, poet, lyricist and guitarist for over 15 years. His debut album Noise (2010) sold over 10,000 units. He's performed across the United States, Canada and in Europe.  His music has been used by the National Hockey League, the National Football League, and Major League Soccer. He's written music for film (Hunny Bunny in 2020, Carol of the Bells in 2021, OCD in 2021) and television (Radical Dating in 2017). His single “Noise” was the theme song for the NHL's Carolina Hurricanes and Florida Panthers for the 2012 and 2013 season. His song “Anthem” was used as the signature “goal scoring song” for both NHL teams as well. His most recent releases “Soul on Fire” and “Stars” (2022) have been used as pump up music for the Sandiego Chargers.  Chris has toured with, and opened for grammy award winners Amy Grant and Mercy Me as well as the grammy nominated group Delta Rae. Chris has shared the stage with well known artists such as Daughtry, Parachute, Tyler Bryant, Andy McKee, Geri Jewell, Kathy Buckley, Donnie/Andy Demmers, and Jim Parsons. Chris has performed the National Anthem for the Carolina Hurricanes and Durham Bulls. Chris has performed in Prague, Bulgaria, the United Kingdom and the Caribbean. Chris has performed at notable venues across the U.S. including the Alex Theater (LA), Bluebird Cafe (Nashville), The Listening Lounge (NYC), Eddie's Attic (ATL), The Carolina Theater (Durham, NC), The Evening Muse (Charlotte, NC), Lincoln Theater (Raleigh, NC) and Disney World. Chris has performed at many colleges and universities including Elon University, East Carolina University, University of Pittsburgh, UNC Chapel Hill, UNC Wilmington, UNC Greensboro, Duke University, and Peace University. Currently he lives in Chapel Hill NC with his partner Heather and daughter Fern. Website: http://www.iamchrishendricks.com/ Latest Album: https://music.apple.com/us/album/stars-single/1655076559

Kathy believed that her disability did not make her less than anyone else. While questioning herself, she aimed high. Yet her headshot was thrown into the trash by a comedy club owner. As a stroke of luck, famous comedian Geri Jewell saw it in the trash and pulled it out. This led to Kathy's first comedy gig, where she was an instant hit. She ran into Tony Robbins in the parking lot, where Kathy was invited to share the stage with him for years to come, and she performed all over the country. Kathy did the impossible and became the world's first hearing-impaired comedian.

Pissed off with life, she decided to confront her dad about their past on multiple occasions. After attending group therapy, she learned to not live in the past and over time, she was able to forgive her dad and change her perspective towards life.

Kathy Buckley's family thought she was “slow” and her hearing impairment was not discovered until she was eight. She struggled to connect with others. Lacking family support, she was sexually molested as a child and raped at 16. Feeling profoundly alone, Kathy attempted suicide five times in high school. Then in her early 20's, Kathy was at the beach when a 3,500-pound lifeguard jeep ran over. The paramedics pronounced her dead on arrival, but Kathy miraculously came back to life. Kathy overcame it all to do remarkable things as a standup comic and more.

EPISODE 17 –MANIFEST AND SHARE YOUR GIFT (Part 1) INTRODUCTION Welcome to DREAM TO SHINE show. I'm Loreta and in this episode, I will be sharing 2 things: (1) GIFT and how to realize your full potential (2) CALLING GIFT - a special ability to do something STORY 1 – I am a GIFT Let me share to you a story of how I realized and truly embraced that I AM A GIFT. Last Jan 2020 in Palawan Philippines, during the Freedom Fighter Leadership Training, attended by 120 Filipino delegates worldwide, We watched a 30- minutes video of “Kathy Buckley Onstage at Paul Mitchell Schools Caper 2018”. You may search Kathy Buckley in Youtube, check the time it has to be more than 30minutes video. In this video, I've learned more about myself, my strength and weaknesses, and how to forgive and let go in order for me to step-into the next season of my life. Kathy Buckley – gifted comedienne, award winning actress, incredible author, first hearing-impaired comedienne. She an Amazing Woman, she's wickedly funny and highly inspirational. But she's more than just a comic; her humor is infused with a higher purpose: To teach us that anything is possible when our hearts and minds work in tandem. She's a popular motivational speaker, a five-time American Comedy Award nominee for best stand-up female comedienne, an actress and a best-selling author. WOW!!! My challenges and breakthroughs are incomparable to Kathy's but I can totally relate to her not on the physical impairment but mental challenges and limiting beliefs (of which I've already shared in my previous episode Overcoming Self-Limiting Beliefs) Kathy's challenges is actually incomparable with Ruth's a quadriplegic who wrote 2 top-and-best-selling books!!! Ruth was institutionalized for 30 years. Can you imagine that???!!! Well, It's best for you to watch Kathy Buckley's youtube video and listen to her story. I have so much takeaways and realizations from Kathy Buckley's story. Being on a new crossroad, trying to figure out what is life after 50… A new perspective in LIFE! “It's natural to pass judgement on somebody, just remember, it doesn't define them, it defines YOU! The minute we put a judgement on another human being, you're saying they are limited in life. Nobody is limited in this life, don't pass judgement, least of all on yourself!” – Kathy But most of the time, we are being judged, we are placed in a box, we are labelled! Here's an exercise …. Let's Close our eyes, touch our hearts, feel our heart beating, and tell ourselves over and over again, I AM GOD'S GIFT. I AM A GIFT. This life is for you to love, honor and respect. Unfortunately, most of the time we don't appreciate. This is for you to love and not to compare with someone else. And not for you to wish you have someone else's. GIFT OF CHOICE! We're got one shot of this GIFT called LIFE! Don't throw it away! If you feel like you're sad or depressed! The only way you can get out of that state is to contribute to another life. It fills your heart to give back! YOU ARE THE GIFT! YOU ARE OUR FUTURE! I AM A GIFT, YOU ARE A GIFT, WE ARE ALL GIFTS TO OURSELVES, TO OUR LOVED ONES (FAMILY AND FRIENDS), TO OUR COMMUNITY, NATION AND THE WORLD.   STORY 2 – MANIFEST AND SHARE YOUR GIFT (Part 2 – CALLING) Welcome to DREAM TO SHINE show. I'm Loreta and in this episode, I will be sharing about CALLING: (1) In Part 1 we talked about GIFT and how to realize your full potential (2) CALLING I wear multiple hats, I play multiple roles, This 2020 I believe and embrace that “I am A Soul Rich Woman of Faith, Freedom, Courage and ACTION”. Advocacy – Empower Filipinos to be Free and Rich in all areas and aspects of our lives. I embark in a new advocacy to be a Global Messenger and Empower People to pursue their DREAMS . Attend to the needs of (someone), myself, my Spouse, my Children, Friends, and Community and all the people that God brought into my life. “I didn't find my Friends, the Good Lord gave them to me.” The first 5 episodes of my Soul Rich Woman podcasts are practice, this episode will be the real deal. I never imagined I would be having my own podcast show. It was just a thought, a dream, that it would be awesome to be one of the Filipina Podcast Leaders. However, as I embarked in the Accelerated Instant Podcast Program, this journey is more of a healing and purification process with polishing touches for MY DREAM TO SHINE. March 23, 2020 Global Messenger God has put so many things in me and I just have to share it  STORY 3 PURPOSE • Well-Thought Of • Compelling and Big Enough • Is it taking you to the direction that you want to be?  3 KEY TAKEAWAYS: • MANIFEST YOUR GIFTS • HEED YOUR CALL • TAKE ACTION  CONCLUSIONS:  CALL TO ACTION • A MAN WITHOUT A DREAM OR VISION SHALL PERISH • Dreams can spur you to get the education • What do you want to be when you grow up?   I hope this episode to MANIFEST YOUR GIFT will inspire you to keep sharing your GIFTS to achieve your dreams.   I look forward to seeing you in my next episode where I will be sharing more of my personal journey and breakthroughs on how you too could DREAM TO SHINE.   Take a leap of faith! Take one day and one step at a time. God will supply everything we need.  IT TAKES COURAGE TO PURSUE YOUR DREAMS.  NOTES Vision – Empowering Global Filipina Women Entrepreneurs You have to take chances in life, if you don't take chances in life, you will never have the life God has for you.  Every fruit got seed in it, because the fruit must maintain the future, to help people to be better than me.  10 Keys to Success (How to release your purpose): 1. First Understand your destiny 2. Must have a Vision of your GIFT (see the finished product) 3. Believe you have the ability to fulfil it 4. Must live by the laws that protect that GIFT (called principles) 5. Must have a plan laid out to go toward your GIFT 6. Must have the right people around you (stay away from gift-killers, suffocaters) 7. Be careful with the people you have in your life 8. Persistence – gotta handle the pressure to go after your gift (we live in a culture where they don't want us to manifest our gift) 9. Persevere to bring forth your gift (because there will always be resistance, opposition, discouragement, failures BUT WE GOTTA KEEP COMING BACK) – Resilience!!! 10. YOU MUST PRAY OVER YOUR GIFT EVERYDAY, Pray to the ONE who gave it to you, to give you WISDOM to manifest it.  I pray everyday about my gift, purpose …  Pray for your purpose (don't pray for food, or clothing) Pray for your role in God's kingdom, your delivery system (what are we supposed to bring to this thing) Oh God show me how to do it, Revive it, refine it, define it for me, keep it fresh Lord, let me see this purpose.   THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE IS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF FEAR. FEAR freezes people FEAR OF FAILURE freezes people GOTTA DREAM ABOUT SOMETHING SO BIG THAT IT DWARFS ALL YOUR FEARS Gotta make your DREAM so big that nothing matters except your DREAM You're willing to do what is necessary.  Denzel: Taking risks is knowing what you know and what you don't know Being open to people and ideas OPEN TO LIFE to ACCEPT NEW VIEWS and to be open to new opinions eventhough you're scared still. While it maybe frightening, it will also be REWARDING. The chances you take, the people you meet, the people you love The faith that you have, that's what's going to DEFINE YOU. 

Join me every Monday for a quick burst of inspiration on our "Monday Moments" segments.  We've had nearly 120 guests on the Live Inspired Podcast. As you know, at the end of the interview, each guest answers the Live Inspired 7 questions, with the first question being: What’s the best book you’ve ever read? As we gear up to celebrate World Book Day, I want to share the most mentioned books by our guests. The Bible has been mentioned by 11 guests including my mentor Brian Buffini from ep. 1 and human rights activist Christine Caine from ep. 82. A Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Franklin has been mentioned by “expectation hangover” expert Christine Hassler from ep. 26 and author Matthew Emerzian from ep. 58. (It's my favorite book, too!) And we have a TIE for the third favorite book!  Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach has not only been mentioned by five guests but we had the author Richard Bach on ep. 54! My book ON FIRE has been mentioned by comedian Kathy Buckley from ep. 7, Sergeant Rocky Sickmann from ep. 16 and musician Matt Mattingly from ep. 66. I've been so eager to bring Sparsh Shah onto the Live Inspired Podcast since I was first introduced to him in March 2017.  Fifteen-year-old Sparsh shares about being born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, or "Brittle Bone Disease", and how he hasn't let it define his life. Sparsh, also known by his rapper name Purythem, went viral with his rendition of Eminem's Not Afraid and since sang the National Anthem at Madison Square Garden. He radiates positivity while owning his disability with awe-inspiring grace.  Today's conversation is beaming with contagious optimism + resilience that will leave you inspired. SHOW NOTES Sparsh was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, also known as Brittle Bone Disease.  Sparsh has suffered almost 130 fractures, including his skull. "I've dissed my disability." There is always a valley before the hill. Sometimes the deeper the valley, the higher the hill. Ragarap: Sparsh began studying classical Indian + Western vocal music, blending aspects of each into his performances and creating his own sound he calls "ragarap". Rapper Eminem became an inspiration to Sparsh because of his dedication to improving his skills + overcoming a troubled background. Sparsh chose to sing Eminem's Not Afraid because of the uplighting lyrics that made him feel unstoppable; it ultimately became a viral hit viewed over 75 million times.   Watch Sparsh Shah's TEDx Talk, where he speaks of turning the impossible to "I am possible", here. "When one door closes, another opens. We often look so long, hard and regretfully at the closed door, we forget that there was a door open for us." Why waste our life in the past when we can think about what to do now. "The past is history, the future is a mystery. The present is the greatest gift we can receive." - Bil Keane "Sometimes the storms interrupt our daily lives." Follow Sparsh on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. If you enjoyed Sparsh's optimistic outlook of his disability, listen to Live Inspired Podcast ep. 7 with hearing-impaired comedian Kathy Buckley and Live Inspired Podcast ep. 63 with paralyzed barrel racer Amberly Snyder. SPARSH SHAH'S LIVE INSPIRED 7 1. What is the best book you’ve ever read? How to Win Friends & Influence People by Dale Carnegie. The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey. The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens by Sean Covey. 2. What is a characteristic or trait that you possessed as a child that you wish you still exhibited today? Resilience and optimism. My dad said I had a smile that would light up anyone's face.  3. Your house is on fire, all living things and people are out. You have the opportunity to run in and grab one item. What would it be? My MacBook. 4. You are sitting on a bench overlooking a gorgeous beach. You have the opportunity to have a long conversation with anyone living or dead. Who would it be? Jesus and I would ask him, "how and why is it that the life that is so imperfect, you made it perfect the way it is?" I've realized in life things are perfectly imperfect. 5. What is the best advice you’ve ever received? No matter what happens in your life, don't give up on your passion. No matter how many bones you break, your voice will never break. You can do anything in life, you've come here for a reason. 6. What advice would you give your 20-year-old self? (Sparsh it not 20-years-old yet!) 7. It’s been said that all great people can have their lives summed up in one sentence. How do you want yours to read? Though I struggled, I refused to suffer. And because I refused to suffer, I conquered.  *** Did you enjoy today's episode? Subscribe, rate + review on Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts! Let's move our focus from the cold winter to where the sun is shining: Spring! One of my favorite parts of spring is March Madness. I love sports, I love baseball and I love the race to the final game (especially when the underdog wins).  Most importantly, after the final game, I love when they play the Luther Vandross song, One Shining Moment, while showing the highlights of the best plays from the entire tournament. They tie it all together and today, I am going to do something similar for you.  On today's episode, I'll recap each of my guests from Season 1 and my main takeaway from each. So many great tips on living inspired. Here we go! Susan O'Leary [my mom, author, speaker, mother, Christian leader] Mom  helped me kick off the season talking about life, the fire that change everything and her insights on resilience, faith, family and redemption.   Brian Buffini [business owner, speaker & author] He shared the question his grandfather asked when reviewing work for the family painting business: "Can you put your name on it?" If the answer wasn't yes it had to be fixed. That tangible work ethic is the foundation of Brian's success today. Teri Griege [author, ironman athlete, cancer survivor] Addiction and cancer threatened her life; grace, endurance and hope gave it back. Teri will remind you what is TRULY possible when you stop making excuses. Joe Buck [World Series sports announcer, son of my hero Jack, author] Had his his first interview about his new book Lucky Bastard with us! He shared about being the son of my hero, the greatest gift he received from his daughter which offered us all a reminder that: Perspective truly matters. Michaela Haas [author, journalist, fellow sojourner] Her book Bouncing Forward was my favorite this year covering a life-changing topic: "Post traumatic growth." Rory Vaden [bestselling author and self-discipline expert] "Discipline becomes dormant in the absence of a dream; so DREAM BIG." And SO MANY amazing nuggets like this one. Dave Ramsey [bestselling author, nationally syndicated radio host] You do not want to miss this opportunity to hear Dave on the other side of the microphone! He shares amazing humility, humor and financial tips. Kathy Buckley [author, speaker, comedian, overcomer] She is a model for keeping joy, humor, determination and passion for people through life's tribulations. As a deaf comedian, she has garnered special tools she shares with us to improve our own relationships and lives. Don Yaeger [9 time bestselling author; journalist] Wrote 25 books, many nonfiction about some of the biggest names in sports history. Don shares the biggest lessons he learned from these legendary people.  Rachel Macy Stafford [NYT Bestselling author and founder of Hands Free Mama] Shares beautiful lessons about setting aside daily distractions so that you can have your best life today. She asks us a poignant question: How will you redefine your success for yourself this year? Tom Ziglar [Son of Zig, bestselling author, podcaster, CEO of Ziglar Inc.] Tom will walk you through the "zombie cure" or sleep walking through life. Today's guest is former St. Louis Blues Hockey hero, Gino Cavallini. You'll love hearing the live reunion from my ON FIRE book launch party. [Watch the video.] I am so honored to have had the opportunity to introduce you to these amazing people; true examples of living inspired. Season 2 starts next Thursday and you are going to love the guests we have lined up! Make sure to subscribe, rate & review wherever you get your podcasts. Today's guest is a comedian, author, speaker, huge over-comer and a new, dear friend of mine. She has been through more challenges and misadventures than most, but exemplifies more grace, forgiveness, courage and perseverance than anyone I have ever met. You've likely never heard of her but after our time together, I am certain you will never forget her! Kathy Buckley will share her story in such a way that you will be ready to live more inspired than ever before! My favorite takeaways from our time together: Nobody is in this world with nothing to give. We all have something to give. You can learn more about someone by being fully present with them than by listening to the words they are speaking (she's learned this truth through her lifelong hearing loss). Appreciate who you are and forget about being defined by others. These truths were also shared in her book, If You Could See What I Hear. I loved this book and absolutely devoured it. Order Kathy's book If You Could See What I Hear here. Check out Kathy on the comedy stage here.  The LIVE INSPIRED 7 segment is a series of 7 questions, shared "rapid fire" and answered boldly (without prep!) by our guests. My hope is to leave you reflecting on our guest's answers and YOUR answers... and excited to apply ideas from today's show to help you live an inspired life.  Kathy Buckley's Live Inspired 7 1. What is the best book you ever read? Your book! ON FIRE: The 7 Choices to Ignite a Radically Inspired Life. 2. Tomorrow you discover your wealthy uncle shockingly dies at the age of 103; leaving you millions. What would you do? I don't need much. My needs are covered and my wants are few, so to me money is to provide for others. I volunteer with deaf and hard-of-hearing children through a theater program. I would expand this program to help give a better understanding to more communities.   3. Your house is on fire, all living things and people are out. You have the opportunity to run in and grab one item. What would it be? Everybody is out of my house? An item. I'm not attached to anything! I guess my insurance paperwork.  4. You are sitting on a bench overlooking a gorgeous beach. You have the opportunity to have a long conversation with anyone living or dead. Who would it be? Jesus. I would ask him how could he was so committed. How could he have had that faith. Faith is a powerful thing to bless yourself with and I just have such admiration for him. He was there for those who were less fortunate.  5. What is the best advice you've ever received? My uncle: fear knocked upon my door, faith answered it and no one was there. Which means fear and anxiety are human created, but when you have faith: you can trust and believe that all good things are there for you to receive. 6. Looking back, what advice would you give yourself at age 20? I'm sorry I didn't love you like I should have loved you. I probably would just put my arms around her and let her know she was loved.  7. It's been said that all great people can have their lives summed up in one sentence. How do you want yours to read? Kathy loved unconditionally, anyone who crossed her path.   *** If you enjoyed today's episode, subscribe, rate and review this podcast on iTunes and anywhere you get your podcasts! Welcome to Epi81 of Succotash, The Comedy Podcast Podcast. I, Marc Hershon, am not alone this week. Joining me as co-host for the show, via Skype, is Associate Producer Tyson Saner! It was about a year ago that Tyson began sending me a stray clip or two, testing the waters to see if his choices jibed with the "flow of the show". And it wasn't long after that I recognized his value in helping me to canvas the vastness that is Podcastland in our ever-widening efforts to sample comedy podcasts. By the end of last summer he'd been named our Honorary Associate Producer. He supplies the show with at least three and as many as a half-dozen of the clips you hear every week, as well as giving me valuable background info on both the specific clips and the shows from which they've been harvested. At the beginning of the year he became our ACTUAL Associate Producer – as you can now hear in Bill Heywatt's closing credits – and this won't be the last time we hear his dulcet tones on the show, methinks. In the course of the show we find out a little of Tyson's background, how he stumbled into being a massive podcast listener and fan, how he found Succotash and what really catches his attention when it comes to deciding to click that Subscribe button on a show. We also have a DOZEN clips in this show, not to mention our Burst O' Durst, a brand new Henderson's Pants ad, and even a song from out of Tyson's repertoire of original music (most of which is available - for free - from SoundCloud!) PLUS we have a Special Bonus Interview at the very end of this epi! Keep listening after Bill Heywatt says "Goodbye!" to hear my interview with Cole Stratton, co-organizer of the 13th Annual San Francisco Sketchfest and co-host of podcasting's Pop My Culture. We were backstage (or "mid-stage", actually) following his appearance in Speechless (a show I help produce) at the Sketchfest. Our chat is only about nine minutes long but, as it comes at the end of the longest Succotash episode yet recorded, it's a while getting there. Top 10 Most Active Shows In Stitcher's Top 100 Comedy Podcast List No wild swings up or down the Stitcher 100 list this past week, but there definitely was some movement in the chart… AT                                                                        MOVED  9. SModcast >> Tell ‘Em, Steve-Dave                     +630. The Brian & Jill Show                                       -737. Fitzdog Radio                                                  +552. Keith & The Girl Comedy Talk Show                 -860. A Mediocre Time with Tom & Dan                    +772. Jim Florentine’s Metal Comedy Midgets           +573. Righteous Prick                                               +785. LightCast                                                        -794. SModcast >> FeaB                                          +2097. Never Not Funny/Jimmy Pardo                       -12 I guess there WAS a major jump up the charts, actually, if you look at Succotash's nuimbers. We went from #5945 last week to #5107 this week, so that's pretty sweet! The 2nd Annual Stitcher Awards were last week and I attended the ceremony, which was held at The Chapel in San Francisco. Many awards were given out for categories across the spectrum. I recount the winner in this episode of Succotash, but you can also go see the list of top prize getters on the Stitcher blog. Burst O' Durst In this episode's installment of comedian Will Durst's running commentary, he takes some potshots at the ultra-rich. Podcast Review For my portion of This Week In Comedy Podcasts over on Splitsider.com, I've reviewed The Nerdist with hosts Chris Hardwick, Jonah Ray, and Matt Mira, interview B.J. Novak, actor/writer from The Office and the author of a new book of short stories. The Clips Chillpak Hollywood HourThis week’s clip from CHH with Dean Haglund & Phil Leirness features them thanking me for catching a big ol’ audio snafu in their recent episode. (Hey, we podcasters have to help each other out, right?) SModcastVintage SModcast (from July 10th, 2008) wherein Kevin Smith turns ordinary circumstances into "What If?" adventure time, pushing Scott Mosier furthur and further outside his comfort zone as the "What if"s become more and more unlikey, bizarre and often outrageous. EdumacationThe idea behind this show (form the SModcast universe) is that Kevin Smith needs educating so Andy McElfresh brings in stories and information from around  the world while Kevin asks as many questions as he possibly can which Andy also attempts to answer.  Hilarity Ensues. This clip is of Andy attempting to apply real world diagnoses to the cast of The Cosby Kids. Fitzdog RadioBobcat Goldthwait’s always entertaining and this time Greg Fitzsimmons has him. We get an interesting glimpse into the life of the once celebrated madman comedian whose ambition these days is all about making and directing movies. To fuel his interest, he’s back in the clubs, which leads to an interesting series of comedy club anecdotes. Perfectly ImperfectThis panel-based comedy commentary show features four variously "challenged" hosts – Kathy Buckley, Tobias Forrest, Geri Jewell and Mark Povinelli – who take off on, debate, and otherwise have their way with a variety of topics. In this clip, it's about marriage equality and Muppets. Broadcast BasementI was a guest with Chris Lanuti, the main host of podcasting’s Broadcast Basement this week. He asked me what kinds of podcasts I don’t particular like and which ones I do. Also how Broadcast Basement can get mentioned on our show more. Having me on as a guest is obviously one way… Nardwuar, The Human ServietteNardwuar's chats with musicians are among some of the most unique in the history of music interviews. He plays his own version of This Is Your Life complete with memorabilia and gifts for his guests. In this clip, he's speaking with eclectic musician Jaap Blonk. Do The Right ThingAnother fine British recommendation from our friend @Good_Podcasts, Do The Right Thing is a comedy panel show hosted by Danielle Ward with team captains Michael Legge and Margaret Cabourn-Smith. Guest team members this week are Jason Manford & Sara Pascoe. In the “Agony Aunt” sequence this episode, the panel answers a letter about how to deal with a free-loading, loser former best friend. Comedy Bang BangHosted by Scott Aukerman, the premise of the show is simple: Scott interviews celebrities, musicians and comedians. Another comedian or performer comes in after the initial interview  and pretends to be someone else – sometimes a famous actor, but often a character from a television  show, or sometimes a brand new original character. The featured guest is Park & Rec's Nick Offerman, who is interrupted by a whiny, pissy Paul Giamatti…voiced to perfection by James Adomian. A Mediocre Time with Tom & DanThis show was one of the six podcasts nominated for Best Comedy Podcast for the recent Stitcher Awards. The winner was Comedy Bang Bang, but it must mean something that Tom and Dan got in there. They’ve got a subscription model show and a free version and they do their show out of Orlando, Florida. In this clip, they ruminate about Salem witch trials, a hot new restaurant idea, and they also talk about making it big in Nashville with one of their songs. Adam & JPGot a note AND a clip in the Tweetsack this week from the Adam & JP podcast: “Hey Marc, I just recently found your show and I love it.  Really great work! In advance, thanks for giving us a shout out. Basically, we talk all things geek (gaming, comics, movies, music, pop culture) with a comedic slant.  We host a two hour radio show on a local station every Saturday morning and do a weekly podcast.  I have attached a clip from our latest episode, in case you wanted to use it. Thanks again and we would love to chat with you on the show sometime to discuss your show." J Patrick Pretty funny stuff, guys! That's a pretty full show! Almost TWO hours of Succotash! Enjoy it, savor it, and please remember to pass the Succotash along, too! — Marc Hershon
