So in this episode, we are going to break down exactly why adjusting your macros even matters in the first place—and just as importantly, when it does not make sense to adjust them. What Soreness Really Says About Your Workouts

Today's episode is inspired by a question I got from a member of the Movement with Julie community. And I love this question because I know so many of you have probably wondered the exact same thing—especially if you're newer to strength training. Someone asked me whether they should increase weight or reps because they don't always feel sore after working out. Such a good question—and we're breaking it all down today. Because there's a really common belief out there that if you're not sore after your workout, it didn't work. But here's the truth: Soreness does not equal success.   What I discuss: 1. Soreness is Triggered by Novelty, Not Necessarily Effectiveness 2. Soreness Reflects Inflammation, Not Muscle Growth 3. Being Sore Doesn't Mean You're Targeting the Right Muscle Effectively 4. The Body Adapts Quickly (And That's a Good Thing!) 5. Chasing Soreness Can Lead to Overtraining, Not Progress 6. Hey friend! We need to talk about something that might be sabotaging your progress—and I'm not talking about your workouts or your nutrition. I'm talking about how you talk to yourself.  We all have that inner voice, right? And for so many of us, that voice is harsh. It's critical. It says things like: “You should be further along.” “Why can't you be more disciplined?” “You're so lazy. You messed up again.” And the thing is—we think that voice is helping. We think it's keeping us in check, keeping us accountable, making sure we don't slip. But the truth? That voice might be the very thing holding you back from your goals. So in today's episode, we're diving into what the research says about self-criticism versus self-compassion. I'm going to walk you through how to practice self-reflection without spiraling into shame, and I'll give you actual scripts you can use to reframe negative self-talk the moment it shows up. What I Discuss: 1. Why beating yourself up doesn't make you more disciplined, but more discouraged. 2. What really is Self-compassion. 3. How to practice accountability without judgment by asking curious, kind questions. 4. How to change your self-talk in the moment using simple, powerful reframes.   If you loved this episode, you will also love: Episode 480: The Power of Small Efforts in Your Fitness Journey https://www.juliealedbetter.com/embrace-your-real/the-power-of-small-efforts-in-your-fitness-journey    If you want more from me, be sure to check out... What I discuss: The mirror is not reality – Your perception is distorted by emotions. AND you need to stop body checking. Rewrite the narrative of your “flaws” – Your body is not an object, it's an experience. Social media is warping your perception – Unfollow anything that makes you feel “less than.” Stop using your body as a before and after – You are so much more than a number on a scale. Your body is the least interesting thing about you – Who you ARE is what people truly love. If you want more from me, be sure to check out... You know that feeling when you scroll through fitness advice online and suddenly feel like you're doing everything wrong? One person says you have to chug a protein shake right after your workout, another says you must eat carbs before training or your workout is useless, and then there's that whole debate about whether you should eat less the day after going over your macros. It's a LOT. But today, we're breaking it all down and keeping it real. Because the truth is—meal timing isn't as rigid as social media makes it seem. In this episode, we're diving into three BIG questions I know so many of you have: What I discuss: You do not need to slam protein after your workout. It's about how much protein you eat daily, not about how much you eat after working out. You do not need to fuel before workouts if you're not hungry. Listen to your body and give it what it needs.  If you go over your macros, don't make it up for it the next day, just try to hit your macros tomorrow.  If you don't know what your macros should be, I got you, sister. Hey, hey! If you're a new mom, I know how much you're carrying right now. The exhaustion, the endless to-do list, the constant feeling that no matter what you do, it's never enough. But I need you to know this: prioritizing your body is not selfish—it's survival. It's not about “getting your body back” or bouncing back—it's about feeling good in your body now, so you can show up as the strongest, happiest version of yourself. So today, we're tackling five mindset shifts to overcome the guilt of prioritizing movement as a new mom.  What I discuss: Your baby needs a mom who feels good—not just a mom who's physically present 24/7. You are not losing time by working out—you're buying it back with more energy, patience, and ease. Movement doesn't have to be alone time—you can integrate it into your day, guilt-free. Movement is not a reward—it's a basic need. Your body deserves it. You don't have to do it perfectly. Showing up imperfectly is still progress. You don't have to! Today, we're diving into the power of exercise snacks. These bite-sized bursts of movement can fit into your busiest days and still give you amazing results. If you're ready to learn how a little movement here and there can transform your body, your mood, and your life, this episode is for you! What I discuss:  Exercise snacks are short bursts of movement, 5 to 10 minutes at a time, spread throughout your day. These mini sessions keep your metabolism active, burning more calories and preventing energy crashes from long periods of sitting. Moving even briefly after meals helps stabilize blood sugar, preventing sharp spikes and crashes that lead to hunger and fat storage. Frequent movement improves focus and reduces brain fog, helping you stay productive without feeling drained. Endorphin boosts from exercise snacks lift your mood and lower stress throughout the day, instead of relying on a single long workout. Taking 10 minutes to move your body every hour can add up to a full workout at the end of the day.  It's all about consistency, not perfection—every bit of movement counts toward feeling stronger, more energized, and confident in your body. The #1 Weight Loss Myth We Need to UNALIVE

We've been conditioned to think that weight loss is the goal. That if we just see the number on the scale go down, we'll magically get the lean, toned body we want. But that's not how it works. Weight loss and body composition are not the same thing. Losing weight just means losing weight. It doesn't tell you if that weight is coming from fat or muscle, and it definitely doesn't guarantee you'll look or feel the way you want.   So today, I'm breaking down one of the biggest weight loss myths that we need to UNALIVE.  Yes, we need this myth to disappear because it is holding you back! So let's bust these once and for all so you can focus on what actually works and finally build the body you want.  What I discuss: Fat loss is NOT about eating as little as possible and working out more. A small, sustainable calorie deficit works better than an extreme cut. our workouts stay the same—3-5 strength training sessions per week is all you need. You should NEVER live in fat loss mode. Oh, and let's not forget the big one: “Liked by everyone.” And last but not least, the “Didn't need rest” award. Are you cringing yet? Because SAME. The crazy part is, none of these awards are real.
