This is a very vulnerable one as I unpack my latest risk in life: Publishing a Book. It's not easy putting yourself out there in any form (podcasting, social media, art, writing, starting a business, etc.) so when you are met with a less than enthusiastic welcome it can send you into a tailspin (especially as an ADHDer with RSD). This is a tale of just that. It's not meant to shame anyone who didn't give me spectacular feedback or who sent in feedback at all, it's simply a telling of my mental health journey through the process of taking a BIG risk. I hope you enjoy this episode and that it gives you a little insight into an aspect of putting yourself out there that people don't always genuinely talk about until they are super successful. But also, I hope that you leave wanting to support those around you a little more as we all journey through this life.

Hey ADHDer!Today's episode is all about the ADHD identity crisis... not sure what that means? Well an identity crisis is a period of uncertainty and confusion in which a person's sense of identity becomes insecure, typically due to a change in their expected aims or role in society. And I believe ADHDers go through an identity crisis later in the life due to three reasons: 1) We have always been given negative feedback about who we are and feel lost later in life because we are tired of being the opposite of who we actually are;2) We like to try on a whole bunch of identities through hobbies and then feel bad (or others make us feel bad) when the hobby dopamine wears off and we no longer like it; and 3) We have always been people pleasers and never learned what we actually like because we spent all our time doing what everyone else likes instead. Eventually we hate all of these things and sort of go through an identity crisis when we have to figure out how to function in a society that hasn't really let us function in it.
