The One Degree Podcast is a truly exceptional podcast that has had a profound impact on my life. As someone who grew up in Christian schools but knew very little about the Bible, this podcast has been an invaluable resource in deepening my understanding of faith and living it out practically. The hosts, Xan and Nathaniel Sibley, create an inviting and down-to-earth atmosphere that feels like sitting down with friends for a conversation. Their topics are thought-provoking and relevant to believers, and they provide easy applications from what the Bible says. I cannot recommend this podcast enough.
One of the best aspects of The One Degree Podcast is the way Xan and Nathaniel approach their discussions. They are humble, relatable, and never come across as having all the answers or being better than anyone else. Instead, they share their own experiences and challenges while encouraging listeners to seek truth from Scripture themselves. The practical tips they offer have been incredibly helpful in implementing real change in my family's rhythms and relationships. Additionally, their episodes are perfect for listening to in the car or while doing other tasks, making it easy to incorporate into your daily routine.
While I truly love this podcast, one minor drawback is that some of the content is geared towards married couples. As someone who is not yet married but planning to walk into marriage soon, I still find value in each episode. However, there are moments when specific advice or discussions may not feel as relevant to me personally. That being said, this is a small criticism compared to all the valuable insights I gain from listening.
In conclusion, The One Degree Podcast is an absolute gem among Christian podcasts. It provides thought-provoking discussions rooted in Scripture while offering practical applications for living out faith in everyday life. Xan and Nathaniel's inviting and down-to-earth approach makes you feel like you're sitting on a comfy couch chatting with friends rather than listening to a podcast. Whether you're a long-time follower of Jesus or just starting your faith journey, this podcast will encourage and challenge you to grow in your relationship with Him.

What if sharing your faith felt as natural as chatting with a coworker over lunch? In this episode of One Degree Podcast, we break down practical evangelism strategies—like the “Three Circles” and the “bridge” analogy—that make it easier to share the gospel in everyday conversations without feeling preachy. We also dive into the church's role in equipping believers, looking at how the early church's personal, set-apart approach can inspire modern evangelism. Plus, we share a powerful story of door-to-door evangelism that highlights the impact of small acts of kindness and prayer. Join the One Degree Fam in the conversation on Instagram—we'd love to hear your thoughts! Tune in and learn how to make evangelism a natural part of your daily life.
If you're a Christian, you probably know you should share your faith—but actually doing it? That's a different story. Maybe you feel confident and wonder why others don't share the gospel more often. Maybe you've tried, but it felt awkward and forced. Or maybe you don't even know where to start and feel guilty every time you think about it. Wherever you land, this episode is for you. Too often, Christians are told to evangelize but aren't taught how to do it in a sincere, authentic, and non-awkward way. That's what we're unpacking in this two-part series. Nathaniel shares how his views on evangelism radically changed during seminary—going from adamantly opposed to door-to-door evangelism to leading groups in his own neighborhood. While the takeaway here isn't that you need to start knocking on doors, it is that sharing your faith is worth it and can be done naturally in everyday life. In this episode, we cover the why and who of evangelism:
Are smartphones just tools, or are they quietly taking over our lives? In this episode, we dive into the Fourth Commandment and unpack its significance for Christians today. Many Christians would agree that all of God's commandments are still relevant, except for the Sabbath. But is that the right approach? We'll explore why God took the Sabbath so seriously, why it's for our good, and how it was designed to be a gift, not a burden. Plus, we'll discuss what it looks like to observe the Sabbath today, how it benefits our physical and spiritual health, and why making rest a regular part of our lives is a crucial practice for honoring God. Tune in as we challenge you to establish a Sabbath rhythm in your life and experience the refreshing peace God intended. Grab a seat on the cozy, comfy, virtual couch! What does it mean to truly honor the name of the Lord, and to not use it in vain? In this episode, we dive into the Third Commandment: “Do not misuse the name of the Lord your God.” While many think it simply prohibits phrases like "OMG" and "GD" there's far more to this command. From understanding the Hebrew word Shav—which conveys emptiness and falsehood—to exploring how we bear God's name in daily life, we unpack what it means to respect and represent Him faithfully. Join us as we discuss the weight of words, the importance of reverence, and the profound responsibility of carrying God's name. Grab a seat on the cozy, comfy, virtual couch! In this episode of the One Degree Podcast, we're unpacking the second commandment and its relevance to our present lives. Building on last week's “no other gods” chat, we dive into Exodus 20:4-5, which tells us to ditch the idols—whether golden calves or 21st-century distractions. We'll explore how idolatry goes beyond statues to anything that tries to edge God out. We're kicking off a new series of the podcast where we're going to go in-depth into something we've all heard of and likely memorized at one point in our life – The Ten Commandments. We're going to break them down practically, discuss whether they apply to Christians in the New Covenant, and throw in some typical Sibley-fashion banter. This episode is our intro to the series! As always, thank you so much for your support of the One Degree Podcast! We love the OD fam.

This is the final episode in our mini-series diving into different views on hell. Last week we discussed Universalism and Ultimate Reconciliation, and in this episode, we will cover the view of purgatory. Purgatory can be argued from an orthodox, evangelical perspective. This is the third episode in our mini-series diving into different views on hell. Last week, we talked about Annihilationism. In this episode, we will cover the views of Universalism and Ultimate Reconciliation! Also, we keep saying this will be a three-part series, but we decided to add a fourth week to discuss Purgatory. So be on the lookout for that next week! One Degree Shift Dive in to this discussion! Search the Scriptures. Read books and resources on this topic. Decide for yourself what you believe. This is the second episode in our mini-series diving into different views on hell. Last week, we talked about Eternal Conscious Torment. In this episode, we will cover the view of Annihilationism. As we go throughout this series, regardless of where you find yourself, remember that hell is a real place. Whatever you believe about it, we don't want people to go there. Now if you're thinking, “I already know about annihilationism, it's an erroneous idea”…press play and keep listening. We think you will be surprised! One Degree Shift Dive in to this discussion! This week we're starting a mini-series on a more serious, heavier topic: four different views on hell. This week, we're looking at the view called "Eternal Conscious Torment." As we dive into our series on hell, we want you to have an open mind and search the scriptures for yourself. Evaluate your beliefs in light of Scripture. Oftentimes, we have assumptions about what we believe and throw around a few verses to support our arguments and don't give it a second thought. So, we want to encourage you to dive in for yourself. Also, let's remember the rules of hermeneutics (interpreting the Bible): Allow the clearer passages to help you interpret the less clear passages. Give consideration to the whole counsel of God. If there are 50 verses to support one view, and 3 to support a different view, then the first view has a lot more credibility.
In Christian culture, it's common to use “Christianese” words without exactly knowing what they mean. So today we're gonna break down one of those: sanctification. What does it mean to be sanctified? Is it our doing, or God's? Is there anything we can do to grow in sanctification? Want to stay on our virtual couch a little longer? One of the hottest theological topics for modern day evangelicals is “are you an Arminian, or are you a Calvinist?” These are essentially two theological schools of thought loosely named after John Calvin and Jacob Arminius. In this episode we'll introduce the basic tenants of both theological schools of thought, primarily how each answers the question: How much freedom do humans have within their relationship with God?
