What lies behind Romance Fraud? Romance fraud is one of the fastest-growing forms of fraud worldwide, and one of the most emotionally devastating. It's also one of the most misunderstood. On this episode, I'm speaking to Becky Holmes, author of the bestselling book Keanu Reeves Is Not in Love With You. Becky didn't become interested in romance fraud through victimhood or research. She stumbled into it during the pandemic after being approached by scammers online — and instead of ignoring them, she decided to wind them up. What began as a joke — sending absurd messages, inventing ridiculous scenarios, and pushing scam scripts to breaking point — turned into something much more serious. Through humour, Becky uncovered the psychological mechanics of romance fraud: how trust is built, how isolation and gaslighting work, and why believing you're “too smart to fall for it” is often the most dangerous belief of all.In this conversation, we explore why laughing at scammers is not the same as blaming victims, why romance fraud closely mirrors patterns seen in abusive relationships, and why shame — not stupidity — keeps people trapped. We also talk about humour as a gateway to learning, the limits of victim-focused storytelling, and the uncomfortable truth that none of us are immune. This is a funny conversation in places. And then it isn't. This is not the first time the Human Risk Podcast has explored romance fraud. On a previous episode, I spoke with Anna Rowe, a victim of romance fraud, about the profound emotional and psychological impact of being deceived by someone you believed you loved. In this episode, we discuss:Why romance fraud is a psychological scam, not a technical oneHow humour can expose manipulation without mocking victimsThe striking parallels between romance fraud and abusive relationshipsIsolation, gaslighting, and shame as tools of controlWhy “it would never happen to me” is such a dangerous beliefThe role of AI, deepfakes, and evolving scam tacticsWhy fraud literacy matters — and why people don't seek it out until it's too lateThe emotional cost of online exposure and harassmentWhat institutions, platforms, and society still get wrong about fraudGuest ProfileBecky Holmes is an author, speaker, and writer specialising in fraud, online manipulation, and digital harm. Her first book, Keanu Reeves Is Not in Love With You, explores the world of romance fraud through humour, storytelling, and lived experience. Her second book, The Future of Fraud, examines how scams are evolving in a world shaped by AI and digital identity. Does God actually care about the work you do?In this episode, I'm joined by my friend Jinsoo for one of the most honest and theologically rich conversations we've had on the show.Jinsoo brings a rare perspective shaped by both marketplace leadership and formal theological training, and together we explore what Scripture actually says about work, calling, confusion, and faithfulness. We discuss:Why the divide between “ministry” and “marketplace” work is a false oneHow free will and God's sovereignty work together in career decisionsWhy faithfulness doesn't always mean “sucking it up” or staying stuckHow ANY job can participate in God's kingdomThe 5 Ps of callingIf you've ever felt guilty for not working in ministry, confused by career discontentment, or unsure whether your job matters to God at all, this conversation might change how you see your work.Cheering you on,Kelsey KempRESOURCES MENTIONED:Every Good Endeavor by Timothy KellerGarden City by John Mark ComerGod's Plans, Your Plans | A sermon by Timothy KellerBOOK A FREE CALL WITH US THIS WEEK:https://portal.kelseykemp.com/public/appointment-scheduler/6222458612c06afee1de0032/scheduleFREE CAREER COACHING RESOURCES:Free Training: How to Find and Land a Job You Feel Called to in 8 Straightforward Steps → https://thecalledcareer.com/our-processMore of a reader? In this nourishing conversation, Tonya sits down with Heng Ou - founder of MotherBees and author of The First Forty Days, Awakening Fertility, and The Nine Golden Months - to explore fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum as sacred portals rather than purely medical events. Drawing from Traditional Chinese Medicine, ancestral wisdom, and lived experience, Heng invites us to remember that food, warmth, rest, and community are not luxuries - they are essential medicine. In this episode, we explore:Fertility as an energetic, emotional, and spiritual state - not just a biological oneHow stress, modern pace, and disconnection impact conception and vitalityThe wisdom of the first 40 days postpartum as a sacred healing and bonding portalWhy warming, nourishing foods and ritual protect mothers from depletion and burnoutHow the “40-day portal” applies to creativity, grief, rebirth, and major life transitionsConnect with Heng Ou:Instagram: instagram.com/motherbeesFacebook: facebook.com/motherbeesWebsite: motherbees.com/Books: motherbees.com/collections/motherbees-libraryConnect with Tonya:Follow Tonya on Instagram: @tonyapapanikoloveSign up for Tonya's NewsletterRainbo.com@rainbomushroomsInstructions to Win a Bundle of Rainbo Products - Leave us Ratings and Reviews: (Or watch the video instructions here) Go to Spotify and search “The Rainbo Podcast” Follow the Show and Rate the Show on Spotify, and take a screenshot Go to Apple Podcasts Search “The Rainbo Podcast” Scroll down past a few episodes until you get to the “Write a Review” section Write your review and screenshot before you hit Submit, as Apple's system can take a while to publish Send the Spotify screenshot and Apple review screenshot to info@rainbo.com Be sure to go back to Apple Podcasts and hit submit on your review We'll pull a winner at the end of the month once we verify that your ratings/review went through to win a bundle of tinctures! If you feel like you're putting in massive effort but aren't seeing any momentum or results in your business or calling, you are not alone—I hear this from my clients and community almost every single day. In this episode, we are getting real about the "perfectionism trap" and why more is often actually less when it comes to your impact. I'm sharing four specific reasons why your needle might not be moving and how to discern if you're in a season of quiet, "underground" growth or if you're simply misaligned with where God has called you to be What You'll Discover in This Episode: The "Needle-Moving" Secret: Why your perfectly curated Canva posts and website tweaks might actually be keeping you stuck, and the one simple "friendship" skill that actually generates real opportunities. The Fear of Missing Out vs. The Power of One: How to stop the "throwing paint at the wall" approach and why narrowing your focus to just one platform for six months can lead to explosive clarity. The Hidden Growth Season: A shift in perspective for those who feel forgotten by God, revealing how internal character development and "underground" progress are often more vital than external fruit. Resistance is Not Rejection: Why a "failed" launch or a difficult path doesn't mean you heard God wrong—it might just mean you're one "tweak" or one "firebrand" connection away from your next level. It's a brand new year, and I'm branching out with more interviews—so for the first guest of 2026, I brought in somebody who's going to stretch your thinking in real time.In this episode of Concepts and Conversations, I sit down with Dr. Ron Stotts, a Doctor of Psychology and a Doctor of Chiropractic—a true “doctor doctor.” But what stood out most wasn't the titles. It was the way he breaks down how people get stuck in patterns they don't even realize are running their lives. We talk about consciousness—not as a trendy word, but as a practical skill: becoming more aware of what you're thinking, feeling, and reacting from… and how that awareness shapes everything from your success to your relationships. Then the conversation goes deep.Dr. Ron introduces a concept that stopped me in my tracks: “B-minus love.” He explains how many couples settle into relationship dynamics that are functional, but not fully connected—where love is capped because both people are operating from unhealed parts of themselves. That leads us into the rescuer/victim/persecutor cycle, and I share personal examples of how that dynamic showed up in my own past, including a moment that made it clear: sometimes it's not that you were “too much”… it's that you were trying to earn love from someone who only offered it conditionally. We also talk about:Why many “relationship problems” are really inner programming problemsHow unhealed anger shows up as overreactions (level 5 situation, level 9 response)Why people look for external solutions—until life forces an inner oneHow faith and spirituality can either empower growth or become a way to avoid the real workThe truth about confidence: it's not performance—it's presenceWhere someone should start if they truly want to transform their lifeDr. Ron's message is simple, but it's not light:If you want a better relationship, you don't just need better strategies—you need a more conscious inner architect. This episode will challenge you, but it will also give you language for things you've felt but couldn't explain. And if you're engaged, dating seriously, rebuilding after heartbreak, or trying to lead yourself better in 2026—this one is for you.To learn more about Dr. Ron Stotts and access his resources, visit ronstotts.com.“You don't need a better strategy. You need a more conscious inner architect.”“You'll never have more than a B-minus level of love if you don't heal the inner child.”“Whatever you don't heal as an adult, you pass along to your children.”“A regulated nervous system is a competitive advantage—and a human one.”“Anger is fine… it's the emotional backlog that makes it unsafe.”
What if the "temper tantrums" in your life—whether from your kids, your partner, or even yourself—aren't misbehavior at all, but a desperate cry to be heard? In this episode, Dr. Glenn Hill and Tera Wages unpack a powerful truth: our emotions are pitching a temper tantrum when they're not being acknowledged. From the three-year-old crying over a scraped knee to the adult who shuts down completely, we explore what happens when our emotional energy is resisted instead of received. In This Episode:Why saying "you're okay" to a crying child creates two problems instead of solving oneHow emotional resistance shows up differently in adults (yelling, shutting down, or exploding)The powerful three-phrase framework that stops tantrums in their tracksReal stories of transformation when couples learn to follow each other's energyWhy our culture teaches us that suppressing emotions is mature (and why it's actually destroying us)Whether you're parenting young children, navigating marriage conflict, or trying to understand your own emotional patterns, this episode will help you recognize when energy is being resisted—and how to create connection instead.Key Concepts:Emotional regulation and emotional healthThe "ooh" response and following energyTemper tantrums in children and adultsMarriage communication and conflict resolutionParenting with emotional intelligenceMental health and self-awarenessLeadership through emotional presenceResources Mentioned:Connection Codes Three-Phrase Magnet (available on our website)The Core Emotion WheelFoundations CourseReady to stop resisting and start connecting? Midlife isn't a breakdown — it's an initiation. In this episode, I'm joined by Carla Wainwright, a Holistic Wellness Coach, Sexual Awakening Facilitator, and Midlife Alchemist, for a powerful conversation on reframing menopause, reclaiming feminine energy, and restoring vitality through nervous system healing and embodied self-trust.Together, we explore how women in midlife can release outdated identities, grieve former versions of themselves, and reconnect with their body's wisdom, not by forcing change, but by listening deeply. Carla bridges metabolic health, hormone balance, and sensual embodiment to help women shift from survival mode into radiance, pleasure, and power. This episode is for the woman who feels the quiet ache of “something more,” who senses her body asking for a different pace, and who is ready to stop pathologizing midlife and start honoring it as a sacred rite of passage.✨ In this episode, we explore:Why menopause is a nervous-system event, not just a hormonal oneHow grief and letting go create space for renewed vitalityReconnecting with feminine energy without shame or performanceListening to the body's signals as a path to self-trust and healingHow embodiment and pleasure restore safety, aliveness, and clarityIf you're ready to reclaim your radiance and meet midlife with curiosity instead of fear, this conversation will speak straight to your body and soul.Connect with Carla:Free Gift - Your Vibrancy Guide: https://vibrancyguide.com/ Website: https://www.carlawainwright.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/carlawainwright/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/CarlaWainwrightCreatrix/ http://drkellykessler.com/sacredboundariesConnect with Kelly:drkellykessler.comFree Guide: Sacred Boundaries: Self-Respect Reset is a guided, body-based experience for women who struggle to set boundaries—not because they don't know what they need, but because it hasn't felt safe to honor it.Inside, you'll learn how to rebuild inner safety, strengthen self-trust, and create boundaries that actually protect your peace—without guilt, over-explaining, or self-abandonment.

High performance leaders often feel guilty when they slow down, rest, or delegate. If decision fatigue, role pressure, or success without fulfillment resonates, this episode reframes guilt as conditioning — and opens a path to identity-level relief. Many high-capacity humans describe what they feel as guilt — especially when they slow down, rest, delegate, or step back from constant responsibility. But what if that word isn't telling the truth? In this episode of The Recalibration with Julie Holly, we explore why high performers experience guilt even when nothing is morally wrong — and why that feeling is often a conditioned nervous system response rather than a failure of character. If you're navigating burnout recovery, decision fatigue, role confusion, or the quiet ache of success without fulfillment, this conversation offers language, relief, and compassion. We unpack how early belonging patterns, family-of-origin dynamics, and performance-based attachment can wire the brain to equate contribution with connection — and why slowing down can feel risky even when it's wise. This episode gently challenges the cultural and spiritual misuse of guilt, clarifying that what many leaders call “guilt” is often the body responding to unfamiliar safety. That distinction matters — because language shapes identity, and identity shapes behavior. This episode is especially supportive for high-capacity humans in career transition or life transition who sense that the role they're in no longer reflects who they're becoming — yet don't want to burn everything down to find relief. In this episode, we explore:Why guilt isn't a moral signal — it's often a relational oneHow decision fatigue and over-responsibility impact belongingWhy slowing down can feel unsafe even when nothing is wrongThe difference between guilt, conditioning, and identity driftHow presence replaces pressure as a steadier internal guideToday's Micro RecalibrationWhen guilt shows up, pause and ask:What is my body afraid will happen if I don't carry this? Then gently offer:What's actually true right now?No forcing. No convincing. Why does your body feel completely different after divorce or prolonged stress, even when doctors say “everything looks normal”?In this episode of The Crazy Ex-Wives Club, Erica is joined by Gigi Hunt, a hormone and nervous system mentor for high-achieving women, for an honest, science-backed conversation about hormone imbalance, nervous system regulation, and cortisol overload during divorce, dating after divorce, burnout, and chronic emotional stress.Together, they unpack why so many women are dismissed with “it's just hormones” or prematurely labeled as perimenopausal or hormonally imbalanced, when the real issue is often nervous system dysregulation driving sleep issues, anxiety, rage, digestive problems, and cycle changes. This episode explores how women's bodies respond to long-term stress differently than men's, why emotional volatility after divorce is not a personal failure, and how nervous system regulation, hormone support, and small, consistent practices can restore balance over time.If you've struggled with sleep issues, emotional overwhelm, digestive problems, cycle changes, or recurring relationship conflict after divorce, this episode offers clarity, validation, and a grounded path forward. You'll learn:Why women operate on a 28-day hormonal cycle, not a 24-hour oneHow divorce and chronic stress disrupt hormone balanceThe nervous system's role as the “conductor” of hormonesWhy cortisol hijacks progesterone and fuels anxiety, rage, and insomniaHow chronic stress and cortisol can mimic perimenopause symptoms at any ageWhy birth control disconnects women from their cyclical awarenessLuteal rage, recurring fights, and emotional pattern recognitionHow nervous system regulation supports hormone healthWhy micro-adjustments work better than major lifestyle overhaulsWe talk about:00:00 Intro01:00 Why women are blamed for emotional chaos03:00 Hormones, emotions, and cultural conditioning06:00 Birth control and loss of cycle awareness10:00 The four phases of the menstrual cycle15:00 Divorce, stress, and hormonal disruption18:00 Cortisol vs progesterone explained22:00 The nervous system as hormonal conductor26:00 Luteal rage and recurring relationship patterns30:00 Nervous system regulation and emotional safety36:00 Seed cycling and hormone support40:00 Perimenopause myths and misdiagnosis45:00 Rebuilding trust in your bodyHoliday Heart to Heart The holidays post-divorce are brutal because you are trying to "make it magical" when life feels anything but. Send us a textWe're kicking off a brand new series: the Weight Loss Nevers. Most of the time you hear about what you should do to lose weight. But in this series, I'm breaking down the things you should NEVER do if you want your weight loss to last. These are the traps, the shortcuts, and the self-sabotage patterns that only make things harder. In this episode, I share the first three “nevers”:Never weigh yourself more than once a week. Daily weigh-ins will mess with your head, drive you crazy, and push you toward giving up. Once a week is plenty.Never go so restrictive you can't sustain it. If your deficit or food rules are too extreme, you're setting yourself up to fail. Sustainable weight loss comes from incremental change, not punishment.Never lose sight of your goal. Big goals matter, but so do the small “micro-goals” that keep you moving forward when the daily grind feels overwhelming. This episode is about shifting focus away from diet-industry punishment and towards realistic, sustainable strategies. It's about learning to work with yourself instead of against yourself. What you'll learn in this episode:Why weighing daily makes the scale your enemy instead of your toolThe difference between a healthy calorie deficit and an unsustainable oneHow to break big weight loss goals into motivating micro-goalsWhy deprivation only leads to overeating (and why you don't need to punish yourself to lose weight)If you've been stuck in the cycle of extremes - weighing too often, cutting out too much, or losing sight of why you started - this episode will give you a clear, compassionate reset.Looking for help on your weight loss journey? In small churches, titles can build invisible walls—like pastors' wives on one side, “regular” women on the other. Or ministry leaders here, and occasional volunteers over there. But those labels don't tell the whole story, and they often keep us from the deep, honest community we long for. In this episode, Kristen Joy Humiston and I share from both sides of the wall, uncovering how much more we have in common than what separates us.What you'll hear in this episode:How titles like “pastor's wife” or “leader” can unintentionally create distanceWhy women in small churches often feel divided (and how to bridge the gap)Stories from both sides: living with a title and living without oneHow shared struggles (loneliness, pressure, expectations) prove we're not so different after allWhat it could look like if we ditched the labels and built friendships that actually lastConnect with Kristen Joy Humiston:www.kristenjoycoaching.com Get your FREE ticket for the Lead Well for Women in Small Churches Conference: www.smallchurchsummits.comJoin our free Facebook Community: www.facebook.com/groups/smallchurchministryRate, Review, & Follow Laurie on Apple Podcasts"I love Laurie and The Small Church Ministry Podcast!!"
