Send us a textWe're kicking off a brand new series: the Weight Loss Nevers. Most of the time you hear about what you should do to lose weight. But in this series, I'm breaking down the things you should NEVER do if you want your weight loss to last. These are the traps, the shortcuts, and the self-sabotage patterns that only make things harder. In this episode, I share the first three “nevers”:Never weigh yourself more than once a week. Daily weigh-ins will mess with your head, drive you crazy, and push you toward giving up. Once a week is plenty.Never go so restrictive you can't sustain it. If your deficit or food rules are too extreme, you're setting yourself up to fail. Sustainable weight loss comes from incremental change, not punishment.Never lose sight of your goal. Big goals matter, but so do the small “micro-goals” that keep you moving forward when the daily grind feels overwhelming. This episode is about shifting focus away from diet-industry punishment and towards realistic, sustainable strategies. It's about learning to work with yourself instead of against yourself. What you'll learn in this episode:Why weighing daily makes the scale your enemy instead of your toolThe difference between a healthy calorie deficit and an unsustainable oneHow to break big weight loss goals into motivating micro-goalsWhy deprivation only leads to overeating (and why you don't need to punish yourself to lose weight)If you've been stuck in the cycle of extremes - weighing too often, cutting out too much, or losing sight of why you started - this episode will give you a clear, compassionate reset.Looking for help on your weight loss journey? In small churches, titles can build invisible walls—like pastors' wives on one side, “regular” women on the other. Or ministry leaders here, and occasional volunteers over there. But those labels don't tell the whole story, and they often keep us from the deep, honest community we long for. In this episode, Kristen Joy Humiston and I share from both sides of the wall, uncovering how much more we have in common than what separates us.What you'll hear in this episode:How titles like “pastor's wife” or “leader” can unintentionally create distanceWhy women in small churches often feel divided (and how to bridge the gap)Stories from both sides: living with a title and living without oneHow shared struggles (loneliness, pressure, expectations) prove we're not so different after allWhat it could look like if we ditched the labels and built friendships that actually lastConnect with Kristen Joy Humiston:www.kristenjoycoaching.com Get your FREE ticket for the Lead Well for Women in Small Churches Conference: www.smallchurchsummits.comJoin our free Facebook Community: www.facebook.com/groups/smallchurchministryRate, Review, & Follow Laurie on Apple Podcasts"I love Laurie and The Small Church Ministry Podcast!!"

Hey friend, welcome back to Business Builders! Today, I'm diving into one of the most overlooked (but crazy important) pieces of running a small business: culture. I'm sharing what I've learned from years of building and rebuilding teams—because here's the thing—every business has a culture. The real question is: are you shaping it with purpose, or letting it form on its own? I'll walk you through how to lead intentionally, live out your values, and build a business people want to be part of.Key topics covered:Why every business has culture—even if you're a team of oneHow to stop letting chaos set the tone and start leading with calm, grounded intentionThe difference between a list of values and a lived-out culture (hint: one's not a poster on the wall!)How to define core values that actually matter—and model them dailyWhat to do when culture drifts and how to reset without shameIf you've ever said, “I just wish my team thought more like me,” this episode is your roadmap. Let's build something that feels like us, together.ChallengeDefine your core values – Choose the values that truly matter to your business (not just fluffy words). Pick the ones that will actively shape your culture.Pick one value to focus on – Choose just one that you want your business to be known for.Write a sentence that describes what that value looks like in action – Make it clear and tangible.Start noticing where that value is already showing up – In your actions, your team's actions, and how you serve your clients.Reinforce it – Call it out when you see it, celebrate it, and use it to guide your decisions and feedback.Mentioned in this episode: If you are running a business in Canada and you need help with all the things accounting related, but more importantly understanding the numbers I invite you to check out https://thriveaccounting.co/Staci's Links:Instagram.
