Catechism of the Catholic Church Paragraphs: - 548 (in 'The Signs of the Kingdom of God') - The signs worked by Jesus attest that the Father has sent him. They invite belief in him. To those who turn to him in faith, he grants what they ask. So miracles strengthen faith in the One who does his Father's works; they bear witness that he is the Son of God (abbreviated) - 2616 (in 'Jesus hears our prayer') - Prayer to Jesus is answered by him already during his ministry, through signs that anticipate the power of his death and Resurrection: Jesus hears the prayer of faith, expressed in words (the leper, Jairus, the Canaanite woman, the good thief) or in silence (the bearers of the paralytic, the woman with a hemorrhage who touches his clothes, the tears and ointment of the sinful woman) (abbreviated) - 994 (in 'The progressive revelation of the Resurrection') - It is Jesus himself who on the last day will raise up those who have believed in him, who have eaten his body and drunk his blood. Already now in this present life he gives a sign and pledge of this by restoring some of the dead to life, announcing thereby his own Resurrection, though it was to be of another order (abbreviated) - 1504 (in 'Christ the Physician') - Often Jesus asks the sick to believe. He makes use of signs to heal: spittle and the laying on of hands, mud and washing. The sick try to touch him, “for power came forth from him and healed them all.” And so in the sacraments Christ continues to “touch” us in order to heal us. Got a Bible question? One of the main takeaways I got from my chat with Marshawn Evans Daniels is the power of teaching what you know, along with reinventing yourself and finding your purpose. When you listen to how Marshawn answers the questions and shares her thoughts during this podcast, you’ll really see why she won the Interview competition at Miss America. She is also the epitome of self-reinvention, from what society says a ‘problem child’ to being A-student and a great speaker, Marshawn was able to realize her potential. From being someone who struggled with limiting beliefs, due to her being the only black kid in an all-white school, she went from being branded a ‘problem-child’ to having great grades and being on papers. She learned how to achieve more to be more and to, eventually, have more. She describes herself as someone who always had a desire to help others and a fire for figuring out a way to make money. In her early days, she already manifests entrepreneurship. Selling candies during recess, to setting up her first lemonade stand during summer, she learned early on the power of marketing, messaging, sales, and service. When she entered Miss America, that’s where she realized she loves two things: speaking and law. When she focuses on helping others, that’s when the fears and doubts disappear. She spent many years speaking for free in front of kids, toddlers, and nursery homes, which she says honed her to become a better communicator. Making sure the young kids understand what she talks about made her message clearer. The clearer her message is the bookings she secured which bring in more income. That is how she paid for her law school. When she was in 6th grade, she taught 4th and 5th graders how to become cheerleaders. When she won the Interview portion in Miss America, she taught the aspiring ladies who wanted to pick her brain on how to become a captivating communicator. She discovered early on the power of teaching what you already know. That’s what she continues to do until this day. Marshawn pivoted a lot before being the Reinvention Strategist, Millionaire Business Mentor, and Best-Selling Author that she is today. She was in the professional sports business before, competing and winning in competitive baton twirling, even with having a legally blind left eye. Today, she is helping others how to build an extraordinary life and business. She is helping people to reinvent, women in particular, through faith, upgrading their faith and their beliefs in terms of their thoughts, and then upgrading their actions in terms of what results they want in their lives. Be ready to be pumped up!Here’s What You Missed How to not lose your identity? How you perceive what you do is what matters the mostFaith as a contact sport- how?Learn about the voice of 'little me' versus the 'future me'How to be a better communicatorLearn valuable tips on marriage and relationshipsRun your own race on your own pace Knowledge Nuggets [3:14] Sometimes we can lose our identity and what it is that we do and think that's who it is that we are. What value do you have if you don't have anything to offer, or if you have something, but you just don't feel like it? I believe my purpose is to help people to believe bigger and live bolder. But even if I don't accomplish that or do that, I'm not a failure in God's eyes. [6:59] One of the greatest self-care that we can do is to give ourselves permission to just be without any strings, but also to do the things that our heart desires [10:03] On what Marshawn does: Helping people to reinvent women in particular, through faith, upgrading their faith, how they think about faith, upgrading their beliefs in terms of their thoughts, and then upgrading their actions in terms of what gets some results in their lives. [11:08] I think how you perceive what you do matters more than how other people perceive it because it determines how you show up. You redefine it for what you want it to be. [14:34] "What you believe you build, what you doubt you delay." [16:06] I looked at faith as a contact sport. But we hyper-spiritualized certain things, and then we call it faith. When it's really fear, lack of clarity, we call it discernment when it really doubts. [18:59] We don't start because we're hungry. We start because we're not hungry enough. If you get brought down to your knees, sometimes that's the only way to get you back to a place of real belief. [19:39] The voice of little me versus future me: Little me as the voice of fear and doubt and hesitation. Future me is the voice of faith. I believe that the future may conspire with the Holy Spirit, the voice of God, to get us, to see who it is that we really are. 'Little me' wants us to be practical. 'Future me' wants us to be full of possibility and unstoppable [22:54] Communication: I think it's the most important skill you can have in your life. I became a great speaker by learning how to talk to children. If a child doesn't understand it. Do you really understand what you're talking about? Children make us simplify the message. [27:35] I think that's all business is, is learning how to communicate in a way that your message gets you to a yes. Stop caring about how you're going to be perceived and just start speaking what you're thinking and it'll come together. Because when you're living in rules, you're living in prison [32:00] On marriage: I had to do some real deep work around understanding how could I show up in life where I wasn't trying to show up as valuable. Who am I if I'm not of service? Because when you do that, you'll find someone who only wants you for what you do. [36:57] Your relationships are attached to your ability to reach your dreams. Your proximity to people is going to influence who you become and what will block you from believing. But you can't expect someone to support your dreams when you don't actually believe in yourself. I champion him, he champions me, and together, we're a winning team. [49:19] On what she could change looking back: "I wonder what I would do if I had what I would have even accomplished more. If I hadn't waited for permission, hadn't waited for approval. And if I trusted my intuition in moments where I hesitated because I wasn't sure if I was doing too much taking up too much space or being disloyal," [53:53] Time is something that requires trust humility, surrender, but it also requires pursuit. [54:13] I might do something a little differently than other people do it, but I'm also going to get there in a way that other people won't because they weren't willing to do what I was willing to do. This is why it's important to run your own race so that you can prepare in a way that is unique. [57:02] Ask for the courage to actually not only believe bigger but to live bolder. [58:14] The only way to shut the little voice up is to act and opposite of what the little voice doesn't want you to do. Gaby and Sarah delve into the legacy of 'Big Kathy' - the matriarch of the Hilton/Richards/Avenzino clan of women who populate the socialite world of upper-class America and have dominated the past two decades of reality television. We consider how Big Kathy (an Irish-American go-getter from Omaha) made it to the top and how 'Little' Kim Richards was the money-maker for the family throughout the 1970s and 80s. Tragedy, triumph, family feuds, and Big Kathy's philosophy all come under the microscope. The campest of 'Momagers' and the OG - Big Kathy Fenton!!

The book you can listen to, Red Robinson: The Last Broadcast, is available now from friesenpress.com, chaptersindigo.ca, amazon.com, amazon.ca, barnesandnoble.com, play.google.com and books.apple.com "The Last Broadcast" with Red's special guests Pat O'Day and Bruce Allen, aired on CISL650/Vancouver on August 27, 2017. "Robinson happily includes The Beatles in his playlist for the final broadcast, and instead of recounting yet again the pandemonium at Empire Stadium 53 years and two days ago, he asks O'Day if he emceed the band in Seattle for KJR. 'Yes I did, but my story goes back before that,' O'Day replies. 'Little known, Murray the K in New York claims he was the first to play The Beatles in the U.S. Not true! The first Beatles record played on the radio in the U.S. was by KJR, and it was 'Please Please Me.'" In this episode, Pat recalls his part in the instant success of the record, and he shares a story about how Paul McCartney's wedding to actress Jane Asher after the Beatles' 1966 Seattle concert turned out to be an elaborate prank.
In this episode we discuss Maia Ramnath's 'Decolonising Anarchism' (AK Press, 2011), an account of radical groups and individuals involved in the Indian independence movement and its post-colonial successors: from bomb-throwers and Californian bohemians to peasant collectivists and syndicalist educators; from Mahatma Gandhi to the dissident communist martyr Bhagat Singh. Throughout we probe how a 'Western' ideology such as anarchism might translate in a colonial context, asking whether Ramnath's distinction of a Big 'A' Anarchism (i.e. clearly defined anarchist movements and ideology) and 'Little a' anarchism (i.e. groups and ideas of a broader tradition of which anarchism is a part) helps us to see a common history which would otherwise be obscured. Our conversation then moves onto the question of nationalism and what role, if any, it can play in anarchist politics. For Ole Birk Laursen's work on M. P. T. In this very special Masters At Work show we cover a number of their classic remixed tracks from their back catalogue. Containing an All Star cast of artists, we are going on a Soul Sister kinda vibe. Including Masters At Work Remixed tracks by CeCe Peniston, Björk, Lisa Stansfield, Alison Limerick and Carolyn Harding plus a selection of tracks you may not have heard. There is also even an appearance by one of my favorite Soul Brother's Terence Trent D'Arby with a MAW remix of 'Do You Love Me Like You Say?' at the end, a real treat! To Describe Masters At Work here is an article by Vice: "Kenny 'Dope' Gonzales and 'Little' Louie Vega changed the blueprint of house music forever. It takes a decent sized set of balls to call yourselves Masters at Work. We've not seen them in their boxers or anything, but based on their musical output over the last 25 years or so, it's safe to hazard a guess that Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez and "Little" Louie Vega are packing something more akin to grapefruits than nectarines down there. It takes even bigger balls to take the name off Todd Terry, but that's what they did. Todd went on to have an incredible career under his own name and Gonzalez and Vega put the hours in and produced the goods. Listening to their expansive, extensive back catalogue is like walking through the Natural History Museum of house. You see entire genres, entire scenes germinating, growing, and flourishing. MAW are house music and house music is the sound of Masters at Work. From "Deep Inside" to "The Ha Track" to "Lean on Me", Masters at Work have more bangers in the trunk than most. Who else has remixed Madonna, Michael Jackson and Mel B? " There is a huge Masters At Work back catalogue that I fully intend to get through and put out on this show, expect in the future many more Masters At Work mixes. Enjoy the trip down memory lane, Get Down! All tracks are selected and mixed by @thefunkassassin with Love. Follow the call of the Disco Ball! One of the perks of running this website and of writing 'From What Is to What If' has been the opportunity to speak to some of the people who have had the biggest impact on my own imagination. Today's interviewee, John Crowley, is one of those people. I first read his novel 'Little, Big' sometime in the mid-1980s, and it blew me away. About a year later, I met the woman who was later to become my wife and it turned out that, prior to our meeting, she had not only read the same book, but the actual same copy I had read! It was such a thrill when he responded favourably to my request for an interview. He opened our conversation with some reflections on the imagination and times in which we live...

You remember the Guillermo del Toro 'Hellboy' movies. They were whimsical and darkly odd (just like every other one of del Toro's movies). But now we have 2019's 'Hellboy'...oof. The reboot failed in just about every respect, earning a Rotten Tomatoes score of less than 20% and losing to 'Little' at the box office. Pour one out for Lionsgate. In other realms of movie news, we have a new Star Wars trailer! It has all the Star Wars-y things, including Palpatine??? All this and more in this week's episode of The MovieBabble Podcast! The famous cityscape of Liverpool can seem familiar to visitors and locals alike. But the arrival of three giants is about to transform the way it's seen. A 50 foot giant man has been shipwrecked on a Wirral beach and will make a raft to travel across the Mersey while a 'Little boy giant' and his dog Xolo will soon wake up and stride through the streets exploring. The marionettes are powered by 'Liliputians' and have enchanted thousands of Liverpudlians who line the streets to see them with people from all over the world. The spectacle is the idea of French theatre group Royal de Lux and it's the third and final time the giants will visit the city - each time telling a story about Liverpool. Helen Mark is literally chased through the streets in a bid to get close to these creatures. She asks why the people have taken the giants to their heart and why the company wanted to return so often. Ten years since it became the European Capital of Culture many say the city has a new confidence and can hold it's head up high. Presented by Helen Mark and Produced by Anne-Marie Bullock of Radio and Music Production Bristol.

I'm recovering. It was a shock, you know. I'm talking about my experience at the hair dresser's. Okay, I'll give you some background. I have naturally very dark brown hair, fine, medium length. So, last year, as I realized that I had a few white hairs announcing themselves quite loudly from amongst the dark hairs, I decided to have some highlights. I happened to be in Seattle at the time, and I had a few hours to kill, so I walked into a salon and walked out two hours later with gorgeous, natural looking highlights. The story is great so far. The trouble with highlights, or any kind of hair coloring, is that it grows out in a few months. Now, a smart person is supposed to realize this, take it into account(1), and therefore make an appointment two or three months ahead to get new coloring. I didn't. I don't know what I was thinking. Perhaps I assumed that an angel would appear in my hour of need and give me some divine highlights, just like that. Well, the angel was late, so I went into a local hair dresser's which is known to be cheap, and I asked the lady there to do my highlights. I gave her some vague instructions like, "I just want them to look natural," and, "I think I like toffee color." I grabbed(2) a couple of magazines and prepared myself for a long sitting session. However, before I had even read through the first one, she was finished. "Oh," I thought to myself, "she does work fast!" "What do you think?" she asked as we both looked in the mirror. The room was actually quite dark, so I couldn't see very well. It did look more light than usual, but I chose to just pay, and go and examine her work at home. Little did I know that(3) I would get a big shock. The lighting in my bathroom is bright, not very flattering. But I needed an honest look, after all, I have to live with my hair. It was bright orange, right where my parting is. The highlights on the rest of my head were in thick, two inch chunks. And, for the crowning glory, I had three leopard spots on the top of my head, yes leopard spots. My dark color had formed circles surrounded by the pumpkin orange that was on the rest of it. I think I stopped breathing for a while. My mind flew into a panic. What was I going to do? Fly to a remote part of Alaska? I jumped in the car and went back to the salon. "You have to fix this," I told the lady. "I wear my hair back for work, but I can't now because the side highlights make me look bald! Plus I have leopard spots. Look!" Couldn't she see how bad it was? "So, you don't like it?" she asked. I just looked at her. This must be the local zombie salon, I thought to myself. Is anybody awake in here? She did her best to 'fix' the problem and remove the look of a partially bald leopard. Then I immediately made an appointment with a colorist in town who is a hair expert. Luckily, I didn't have to wait for months to see her. Her salon is calm, beautiful, and very classy. So is she. "Did you do this?" she asked me. "No," I replied, and I told her the whole, ridiculous story. "I've never seen anything like this," she said with a deep look of curiosity on her face. Well, she worked her magic, and POOF, transformed me from a pumpkin into a princess. I was elated. I was so thankful. I felt like paying her, and then giving her my watch and my car as well. And yes, I made another appointment with her. I'm going to stick with her like glue. No more leopards for me. I have learned my lesson. 1. 'To take into account' is the same as saying 'to bear in mind'. 'To bear' is the old verb meaning 'to carry', so the phrase really means to carry something in your mind, to be aware. a. I know that she is grumpy, but bear in mind that she is awake every night with her sick child. b. The car is a good price, but bear in mind that you will also have to pay tax and insurance. 2. 'To grab' is a very common English verb. We English use it a lot more than Americans. I could have used 'pick up' when referring to the magazines in the salon, but grab sounds more aggressive and basic. It helps to add to the essence of my ridiculous story. This is something that you can bear in mind when you wish to tell a story, word choice. How can I make what I say funny or effective? a. The policeman grabbed the young man by his collar. b. I was in a hurry. The bus was leaving, so I grabbed my bag and keys, and I flew out of the door. 3. 'Little did I/ another person know that' is also used a lot in English. It is the same as saying, ' I (another person) had no clue that ...' or 'I (another person) was about to discover that ....' a. I got in the elevator. Little did I know that I wasn't going to get out for 6 hours!/ I wouldn't get out for 6 hours! b. I talked about how bad the hotel was. Little did I know that the owner was standing right behind me. c. I put my flip-flops on and left the umbrella at home. Little did I know that it was going to rain and hail when I got to the beach. Try for pronunciation and fluency practice!

'Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.' (1 John 3:7). The consideration of the righteousness of God should provoke us to a desire to worship Him and reflect Him - the greatest form of adoration is imitation. What standard of righteousness do you use for the standard of your life? Christ called us to 'seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.' It is the righteousness of God that should be our standard of righteousness - especially as believers! This message was presented on Sunday, July 4, 2010 by Bob Corbin
