The Red Sox and Yankees played this weekend, and though winning the division isn't all that important, it's still a feat worth pursuing. But at what cost? Alex recaps this weekend by discussing the most memorable moments, and also explains why winning the AL East is nice, but not nice enough to risk what may have to be risked to do it. Storylines to watch as the season progresses, including how Josh Reddick responds in RF, if Carl Crawford can get hot, who the 3rd starter is, whether the bullpen depth shakes out, and more are brought up as well. In the "Around the League" segment, Alex talks about the hottest races in baseball and says why the Phillies are undoubtedly the class of the NL. The non-waiver trade deadline has passed and Alex spends time discussing the big...Mike Aviles trade! (Okay, 2 minutes you're never going to get back were spent on Aviles.) But Also mostly turns his attention to Erik Bedard, and how Bedard solidifies the starting rotation with Clay Buchholz's future still very much in jeopardy. Besides health, are there any other concerns worth paying attention to in regards to Bedard? The 3 game series against the White Sox is recapped too, with Alex talking about Jarrod Saltalamacchia's continued impressive play, and Jon Lester's continued dominance on the mound since returning from the DL. Plus, it also seems as if the Red Sox are somewhat comfortable with their current bullpen... In the "Around the League" segment Alex gives his take on the Yankees standing pat at the deadline. The "piledrivin' post of the week" (www.thesportsstuff.com/boards) is handed out, as Alex asks whether CM Punk returned too soon this week. Has the wind been taken out of the sails of the Punk/Cena program, or is Punk's early return not a factor? Plus, what was the plan for RAW this Monday night supposed to be? (Hint...you're not going to like.) The progression of the Christian/Randy Orton feud, as well as Sheamus' perceived face turn are topics too. Why talk about them? Thus far this season, the Red Sox have yet to break the .500 barrier. They have failed to develop consistency, losing 2 straight to the Blue Jays after taking 3 of 4 from the Twins over the weekend. Alex spends a lot of time recapping some recent poor WWE booking decisions, from having every heel except Michael Cole lose at "Extreme Rules," to the asinine way they've handled The Miz, to having Christian drop the World Heavyweight Championship to Randy Orton just 5 days after capturing the belt! Wrestlers don't get over in this company because they're never given an opportunity to build long-term momentum. Christian is a perfect example of that unfortunate phenomenon. The Red Sox remain winless (0-5) on the season, and there still seem to be some instability within the club. Reports are that Crawford was sitting with "his head in his hands" after the 4th game of the season on Tuesday...the 4th game! Alex also analyzes the 2011 debuts of Josh Beckett and Daisuke Matsuzaka. It was typical Daisuke on Wednesday. A long game with a lot of pitches thrown and a lot of deep counts. As far as Beckett, his stuff looked flat. Either he's recovering from an injury we don't know about, is changing the way he's pitching, or the entire Red Sox starting rotation is becoming more "contact oriented," as both Lester and Buchholz looked flat in their first starts. Alex interviews Todd Martin of The Wrestling Observer. Alex and Todd talk about the latest Wrestlemania rumors, including how the guest-host may be. Why is there a guest-host anyway? Is it because Vince is concerned about the potential for a low buyrate? Michael Cole's heel persona as well as the initiative to push new stars is mentioned as well. The "piledrivin' post of the week" (www.thesportsstuff.com/boards) is handed out, and Alex gives his own take on the past week in WWE TV. Plus, Alex reveals what arguably the worst 30 seconds in television history were. "The Alex Reimer Show" airs Saturday's from 3-5 PM EST on 1120 AM WBNW Boston, www.moneymattersradio.net, and www.livestream.com/wbnw1120.

The Super Bowl is over, which means that the doldrums of the sporting calender awaits us! But not to worry...it's "Truck Day" on Tuesday. The "post of the day" (www.thesportsstuff.com/boards) is handed out, and in the "Around the League" segment, Alex talks about Andy Pettitte's retirement, the disappointing Yankees' offseason, and more. Alex analyzes all of the Royal Rumble fall out, including the WWE deciding to "finally fully push the lever" on propping up young talent by having Alberto Del Rio win the Rumble. Wade Barrett had a strong showing as well, which should set him up nicely for his Wrestlemania encounter with the Undertaker (yes, the reports are that the Undertaker will return on 2/21...not Sting). The terrible booking of The Miz as WWE Champion is discussed too. Why not put him over cleanly against Randy Orton? Why have another meaningless "champion vs. champion" match with Edge on RAW? The Orton/CM Punk feud, as well as whether Dolph Ziggler having a short reign with the World Heavweight Championship is realistic is talked about as well. The continued push of Jerry Lawler, Nexus vs. The Corre, and the future of Kevin Nash and Booker T are also brought up. The "piledrivin' post of the week" (www.thesportsstuff.com/boards) is handed out, and in the "Finisher" segment, Alex questions Vince McMahon's decision to pursue Justin Bieber for a Wrestlemania appearance.
