TSN Hockey Insiders Darren Dreger and Pierre LeBrun joined OverDrive to discuss the biggest headlines around the NHL, Brady Tkachuk's injury timeline with the Senators, Carter Hart signing with the Golden Knights, Connor Bedard's possibility to make the Olympics, the players on the roster and more.
The fellas dig in on NHL Headlines, starting with Chicago’s 8–3 win over St. Louis as Connor Bedard notched three assists in his 29th career multi-point game, showing signs he’s entering another level. Buffalo exploded for eight goals to beat Ottawa 8–4, easing early pressure but not fixing their deeper issues, while the Senators clearly miss Brady Tkachuk and may have Steve Staios working the phones. Florida’s injury list grows with Kulikov and Nosek out, but Bill Zito’s team remains resilient. The Rangers’ odd 0–3 home record without a goal at MSG highlights their top-heavy lineup, and in Toronto, rookie Easton Cowan earned his first NHL point alongside Auston Matthews. Ray also previews Oilers/Islanders, where No. 1 pick Matthew Schaefer has been an early bright spot for a New York team trying to avoid its first-ever 0–4 start. Plus, in Ask Ray & Dregs Anything... 1974 - Swampscott, Massachusetts. In the shadows of the early-December afternoon, somebody with a baseball bat beat the life out of 15-year-old Henry Bedard Jr. He had been on his way home to wrap a Christmas gift, and was found the following day in a well-travelled patch of woods that was popular amongst the town's youth. Henry was a good kid from a good family, who, to this day, still can't understand why somebody would have done this. But police are still hopeful the right person will recognize the markings on the bat and come forward with the tip they need to crack this case, no matter how much time has passed. UPDATE: In October 2025, there was a major update to this case. This episode includes the updates as well as the original episode that was published on August 13, 2024.
