The roar of the crowd fills your ears as the electric atmosphere of World Series Game 2 Yankee Stadium crackles all around you. Stepping up to the plate, the ever dangerous Pedro Martinez stares you down from the mound just before rocketing the ball towards you. The tension is palpable as you make the split-second decision to swing with all your might, the crack of the bat echoing through the stadium as the ball soars to right-center. Time seems to stand still as it clears the fence for a home run. Rounding the bases, heart pounding, you think to yourself, "Wow, I just hit a home run in the World Series!" Mark Teixeira, celebrated Georgia Tech alumnus, MLB legend, and the man who actually lived that dream scenario, joins Sandy and Sandra on today's thrilling episode of The Adrenaline Zone. Teixeira unpacks his journey from a backyard wiffle ball player in Maryland to a professional powerhouse, covering his early baseball inspirations, pivotal career decisions, and rise from high school prospect to first-round draft pick. Listeners gain an unparalleled view into major league sports as they discuss Mark's minor league experiences, cherished major league moments, Gold Glove Awards, and the challenges of playing different positions. Mark also shares insights on becoming a switch hitter, the impact of technology on the game, the pressures of playing for the Yankees, and offers advice for aspiring professional baseball players. "When you face guys in the majors, you're not just facing pitchers, you're facing experience and intelligence.” "Develop a love for the game, because if you don't, you're not going to practice enough or play enough to build your skills. If you have the talent and passion, everything else will follow." "If you want to learn how to hit a baseball, go outside with a little skinny yellow bat when you're three or four years old and have your dad or your friends throw you wiffle balls in the wind." Big plans are in store for Cobb Galleria

The Cobb Galleria Specialty Shops, located inside the Cobb Galleria convention center in Georgia, USA, was never as successful as its developers had hoped. Even when the convention business took off, the mall failed to take advantage of this trend. Today, the mall is home to 20 remaining shops, which pay month-to-month leases that barely cover operating costs. Plans to redevelop the Galleria complex by razing the mall and building a hotel and restaurants have been around since the 1990s, and the project is now gaining traction thanks to a revenue-sharing agreement between the authority, the Cobb Board of Commissioners and Cobb's cities. The Trust for Public Land, a non-profit that builds parks, has purchased a nine-acre scrub-covered lot in Mableton Parkway, located across the Chattahoochee River from Fulton County Airport in Atlanta. The site is intended to serve as the first of 25 regional trailheads for the Chattahoochee Riverlands project, a massive undertaking to create a series of parks and trails connecting a 100-mile stretch of the Chattahoochee from Lake Lanier's Buford Dam to Newnan. The first portion of the trail in south Cobb will be a pilot project that showcases the potential of the full Riverlands project. The Georgia Tech baseball program announced on Thursday that they will retire former Yellow Jacket standout Mark Teixeira's Number 23. Teixeira, a former Atlanta Braves first baseman, will be honored in a pregame ceremony on May 20th before Georgia Tech's game against Virginia. His number will join only two other retired numbers in program history. During his time at Georgia Tech, Teixeira earned a long list of honors, including the 2000 Dick Howser Trophy, National Player of the Year, 2000 ACC Player of the Year, and 2000 consensus first-team All-American. He was also named to the All-ACC first team twice. Teixeira played a 14-year career in MLB, winning five Gold Gloves and three Silver Sluggers. He also won the 2009 World Series as a member of the New York Yankees. Teixeira was elected to the Georgia Tech Sports Hall of Fame in 2011 and returned to campus after retiring from professional baseball to complete his degree in business administration in 2022. Bridger Properties, the developers behind the proposed 135-unit residential building in Marietta downtown, are considering condominiums instead of apartments for the building. The developers held a community meeting to hear from residents, many of whom were concerned about the maintenance of rental apartments. The seven-story building would be built on a 1.25-acre site north of the Marietta Square Market food hall. The land is already zoned for a category that permits the building, and the developers are not seeking variances from the city. However, Mayor Steve “Thunder” Tumlin and some City Council members have said they do not want it to be built. Community reporter Matt Goldin catches up with John Bednarowski coming to us from the Masters, presented by Ingles. An Arizona resident named Michael Lopez completed the Georgia Bass Slam, catching seven different species of bass across Georgia. The Bass Slam recognizes anglers with knowledge and skill while also promoting conservation and management of black bass and their habitats. To qualify, fish must be caught legally on waters where permission is granted, within a calendar year, and basic information and photos must be provided. Successful Bass Slammers receive a certificate, passes to the Go Fish Education Center, stickers, and recognition on the Bass Slam webpage and social media. Additionally, Georgia has a Trophy Bass Angler Award program for largemouth bass catches of 10 pounds or greater. Atlanta-based Bridger Properties has outlined plans for a multimillion-dollar renovation of the land it owns in Marietta's downtown area. The plans include a public plaza at Marietta Station, a facelift for a dozen stores on Church Street, and a new seven-storey residential building north of Marietta Square Market food hall. The developer has also said it will lease its retail properties to small businesses and local operators, and it is seeking new restaurants and retail outlets for Church Street. However, residents raised concerns over the departure of previous tenants, the rental rates charged and the loss of parking spaces. #CobbCounty #Georgia #LocalNews        -            -            -            -            -            The Marietta Daily Journal Podcast is local news for Marietta, Kennesaw, Smyrna, and all of Cobb County.             Subscribe today, so you don't miss an episode! MDJOnline            Register Here for your essential digital news.            https://www.chattahoocheetech.edu/  https://cuofga.org/ https://www.esogrepair.com/ https://www.drakerealty.com/           Find additional episodes of the MDJ Podcast here.             This Podcast was produced and published for the Marietta Daily Journal and MDJ Online by BG Ad Group   For more information be sure to visit https://www.bgpodcastnetwork.com      See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this Episode i talk about Major League Baseball is trying to get the players to take a reduction in pay. The Players and MLB agreed to play at a prorated salary but that wasn't good enough for MLB. Major League Baseball is saying they will lose 8 million dollars this season with loss of games and fan revenue. I break down what Tampa Bay Rays Pitcher Blake Snell had to say about the situation. I talk about how people are twisting his words and how it isn't being reported correctly. I talk a little about Mark Teixeira and how he has turned his back on the players and trying to look good for his new bosses. These are my opinion, like i said I don't usually have popular opinions and people will want to argue with me about it. I embrace the difference of opinions and welcome you guys to hit me up on my Instagram @joemorleysports.
