Every hero STARTS as a CHILD, and every Child can CHOOSE to become a Hero... Just like THIS one!Tony Mahavorick was born in Glendora, California on Leap-Day, February 29th, 1960. Even as a young child, Tony was always asking questions about the world around him and answering those questions was almost a full time job for his mother! Life was difficult in those early years, and as Tony got a little older, he did everything he could to help his mother and his younger brother and sister. When Tony was 13, his mother married again, this time to a very nice man named Jim Robbins. That's when Tony Mahavorick became Tony Robbins. Life was still hard, though because this new family was very poor. In fact, that November, they didn't have enough money for a Thanksgiving meal. But then some very kind person put everything they needed for a great Thanksgiving meal right at their front door. Young Tony was SO amazed by this act of kindness that he made a promise to himself that very day. He promised to work really hard and become the kind of person who could afford to be very generous to others. A very short time later when Tony was in the 9th grade, he KNEW exactly what he wanted to do! He wanted to be a sports writer and cover not school games but major league games. With his great determination, and because he lived in Southern California, he was able to find and interview professional football players, baseball players, golfers, and even professional sportscasters! And with that VERY BIG start in the 9th grade, he has continued to do EVERYTHING in a BIG way! Over time, he became a great speaker and a life coach who helps heads of major corporations and even leaders of countries all over the world with his advice about success. He has made MILLIONS and MILLIONS of dollars, all as a part of keeping the promise he made on that Thanksgiving Day so long ago – a promise to help people in every way he could. Tony Robbins' entire life is about being a HERO! That's what I know about the beginning of This Hero, and I know that YOU Can Be a Hero TOO! Dear Parents, After years of development, trial, and revision, we are so excited to now share with you the most effective version yet of our Proactive Bully Prevention Program that has proven to "change the culture" at hundreds of campuses across America in profound ways. Research has shown the TCN Method™ to be the single most effective school based Violence and Bully Prevention Intervention of its entire genre. We have hundreds of testimonials from educators describing the results they have gotten, and you can view many of these at http://www.thecharacternetwork.org/Testimonials (www.TheCharacterNetwork.org/Testimonials) This program, The Beginning of a Famous Hero™ is used in conjunction with a companion program called Bully Alert!™ in schools played over the intercom during morning announcements twice or more each school week, and backed up by a common culture which reinforces the principles taught, at every turn, and... To raise awareness and support for this year’s Basket Brigade of Suburban Chicago, Robert just completed 10 marathons in 10 days, raising another $9,000 for this cause. In 2019 Robert ran 152 miles in 42 hours and 45 days later he ran 206 miles over 82 hours raising about $7,000 for this cause. Robert Adam Swiderski is the Organizational Development Specialist for Becker Logistics. His role is to coach, mentor, and teach all team members on Emotional Intelligence (EQ). The St. George Basket Brigade celebrates 10 years delivering love, hope and a FULL THANKSGIVING MEAL to nominated St. George families. And we couldn’t have done it without your help! Over that time period we estimate that nearly 1000 families in need received a Brigade basket delivered by one of as many as 1500 individual volunteers. If you’ve been one of those volunteers, you’re aware that it’s a prized opportunity that folks literally join a waiting list to take part in! So now we pop the question! WILL YOU NOMINATE or FEED a family to help us celebrate 10 years? Perhaps both? Here’s how: 1. PLEASE NOMINATE a family in need HERE. What does “in need” mean? If you think for even a second that they’re in need, they’re in need! 2. If you’re able to FEED a family, please do so HERE. It’s just $50 to have a full Thanksgiving meal delivered to a family. Can’t donate $50? Then donate $5 or $10! Want to feed multiple families? Email us about being a 10-family corporate sponsor at baskets@gostgeorge.com. The greatest part of this event is that the recipients prepare and cook the meal themselves, in their own homes, rather than a “charity” soup line. It endows them with hope, self-confidence during a tough time, and makes the community better. Here’s (just one) of the messages we received from families who received a basket last year: “It was a very, very nice surprise to get this thoughtful basket. Thank you for everyone who put in the love, time, thought, and money to make this happen. It was humbling to see we were number 171 on the envelope and to think of how many baskets had been delivered. Super clever with the use of the laundry basket, we used it yesterday :) Thank you again and we will be paying it forward.” -Love, a grateful family. We know it’s a busy time, please take just a moment to nominate a family who will be forever grateful! DO IT HERE. -Jeremy Larkin, Basket Brigade Chairman
Do you remember your favourite experience doing charity work? I’ll always remember my favourite moment as a Basket Brigade Volunteer. It was Thanksgiving and jacket weather, the sun was out so it was warm enough that we didn’t need gloves. My brother Tony was driving his company car since it’s an SUV and well, we’re doing god’s work so someone else can pay for the mileage
Season’s Greetings Fellow Investor!! Quick funny story about political correctness and the holidays, a family member of mine works in a very socially conscious company where instead of a traditional secret santa gift exchange, the plan was a monetary gift exchange. Literally the gifting of cash. How do you determine how much cash to gift someone? Do you set a limit of say $25 and every exchanges $25? For the Hamilton Basket Brigade, the registered charity my wife and I help start and run, we just delivered what we hope is the best Christmas ever to over 130 of Hamilton’s most vulnerable. Men, women and children on Saturday received new essentials such as socks, boots, underwear, winter coats and boots. Every kid who came also got a toy thanks to Spinmaster Toys and Nick Ditomaso. Everyone loves gifts but we also wanted to give an experience hence we unearthed a dancing tyrannosaurus rex; plus Santa Claus, Thor, Valkyrie, and baby Groot volunteered to to meet the kids and take pictures with the kids. Many moms also had their picture taken with Thor who looks every bit of the part as the Marvel Superhero. For the Basket Brigade, we used to pack groceries and deliver them to hundreds of families in the past. In trying to help people we created many operations problems, we had several fail points where if one of five volunteers was unavailable, much of the event falls apart plus we had a couple volunteers working till 10pm every night. We also had a lot of feedback how customers receiving our baskets were not grateful, or not home. Some were downright rude. Our assumption based on Maslow’s Hierarchy that receiving food is a really big deal if one is without but that was not the reaction we were getting. I witnessed the same as I’ve delivered at almost every event. We treat our charity like a business, everything we do is to deliver on our mandate of providing poverty relief with return on investment of dollars and our time. This past Easter we provided 350 Easter dinners, Thanksgiving we provided 40 families their wish lists and 24 more this Christmas. We made the switch to go deeper with the families we help, quality of our charity work vs quantities of food and families. Our volunteers who participated all reported a better experience, we had consistent feedback from our customers they enjoyed the experience, many saying it was the best holiday ever. We virtually eliminated all of our failpoints with the format change. But we can never make everyone happy, I still get messages from past volunteers who want to bring back the old format but that’s just business, you can’t make everyone happy. Based on our survey results, volunteers who participated in both old and new format prefer the new 24 to ZERO. Hello Halton, Toronto, Hamilton, Brantford, St. Catharines, Niagara, Welland, Thorold real estate investors!!! It's December so we're into full swing holiday mode!!!! Christmas lights are clipped into our eavestroughs, our light up Santa got blown over on our front lawn, the usual stuffs! This year we started a new tradition, the Royal Botanical Garden's Santa's Signature Experience. My wife booked it after reading the raving views on a Facebook mom's group and the experience lived up to the hype. included is a return trip on The RBG Express (a train ride), hot chocolate and a cookie, storytelling and crafting with Santa's helpers, admission to RBG for the day's activities, and of course your visit with Santa. Santa's Cabin was just off the hook, it had beautifully decorated fireplace, giant tree, the room in general and the star of the show, Santa!!!!!!!! Santa asked my kids if they knew they had brought Christmas magic with them. My kids had no clue what he was talking about then Santa reached behind my daughters ear and illuminated a light within his glove between his index finger and thumb. The look of astonishment on my kids faces made me nearly lose my composure. I couldn't have been happier with the experience but my daughter had more for us in store. A few days later, we asked my daughter what she wanted for Christmas and she said “I want a Lego Cookie Monster to give away at the Basket Brigade.” Mission accomplished!!!!! Christmas can end now and I'd be happy. Part of our objective with our charity is to teach the kids to be selfless and I believe the best teaching is done by showing, not telling. My daughter is not even 4 years old and she knows the meaning of Christmas. Proud parent moment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here she is with Anna and Elsa dolls (from the Frozen movie) we bought with our own money to give away on our personal deliveries. In case you're interested in an opportunity to teach your kids and to give back, we need a few more packers and in need of 25 more delivery drivers. For packers, we have 85 registered and we are capping at 100 so to avoid disappointment, please register ASAP. You can always call us at 435-215-4533 for a FREE home buying or selling consultation to answer any of your real estate questions. We recently completed our eighth year at the annual Basket Brigade. This event was started by the Barton and Palmer families, but it got so big a few years ago that they turned control over to The Larkin Group. We’re honored to keep this tradition alive. See the full story here: http://www.stgeorgeutah.com/news/archive/2017/11/23/jmr-brigade-volunteers-surprise-260-local-families-with-baskets-of-thanksgiving-food/ Last year was our first year in charge and we were able to help 222 families. However, it was complete chaos. This year, I think we finally figured it out. We helped 260 families and it felt much easier. “We were able to help 260 families this year!” A lot of Thanksgiving events will serve meals to those in need on Thanksgiving and that’s great. With Basket Brigade, however, we’re adding that element of home back into the equation. Families in crisis are nominated at stgeorgebasketbrigade.org, and then we build a full basket for them that contains everything they need for a complete Thanksgiving meal. We just wanted to give you a quick update on the success we had this year with the Basket Brigade. If you have any questions for us about this event or about anything in the real estate world, don’t hesitate to give us a call or send us an email. We would love to hear from you soon.
