Between new episodes, we're opening up some of our favorite back catalogue episodes to give you a chance to relisten to what we consider some of the most entertaining episodes across the decade-plus of podcasting. "Back in 2013, the "Dirty Sons of Pitches" had a great idea, to watch the lowest-grossing wide release film of all time, "The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure." It'll be fun, they reasoned. Oh how wrong they were. Recording minutes after finishing that awful children's movie, the guys unleash their thoughts and reflections, trying to make sense of what will never make sense. If you've ever wanted to know what this movie was about, or what makes it... special, then this podcast will be enlightening and entertaining." Available on Apple and Spotify

What happens when a real estate investor gets inspired by Tyler Perry to produce a $20 million movie for kids? You get The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure! Maybe he was on coke. In an act of martyrdom for the sake of the podcast, Peyton subjected herself through "The Oogieloves in The Big Balloon Adventure." Now, Peyton attempts to articulate to Austin her sheer disdain for the film and it's cynical emptiness, constant obnoxiousness, and bizarre choices. Our friend Jacq (she/her) joins us for a discussion on the infamous flop Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure, a 2012 musical movie for young kids where the audience was encouraged to get up and dance along in the theaters. Goobie, Zoozie, and Toofie are celebrating their friend Schloofy's birthday when his five magical birthday balloons float away, and they have to race across Lovely Loveville to collect them again. The adventure takes them to a diner that only serves gross milkshakes, a tractor-trailer full of bubbles, a giant flying sombrero, and a series of puzzling celebrity cameos. On this week episode of The Film Club JayEXL, Ju and Deeps discuss the number 15 film on IMDB Top & Bottom films The Matrix and Oogieloves and The Big Balloon Adventure
How to describe properly a movie - so called anyway, this barely qualifies - that rests comfortably in the IMDb.com Bottom 100 ranking of films? Is it a dream? A nightmare? A lucid dream? An instructional guide for bubbles and/or milkshakes? Jack and Korey watched Oogieloves, so you don't have to. wagesofcinema@gmail.com
The episode where they scream a lot.
Scott Stabile had every reason to be angry with the world, but he chose love instead. At the age of 14, Scott's parents were killed at the market they ran, leaving behind a family of seven kids. Stabile was the baby of the group, and nine years later, his brother overdosed and died from a heroine addiction. In those years, he was surrounded by a lot of tragedy, addiction and loss. And, he buried it all, keeping it secret through school, until eventually, it couldn't stay buried any longer. His awakening eventually led him into a journey of discovery where his deep seeking for answers and connection led him to San Francisco and eventually into the embrace of a cult, where he stayed for many years.Flowing through all of this was Scott's internal, turned external struggle with his sexuality as a gay man at a time when being out was a very different experience than it is now. Through it all, though, Scott continually found a way to turn back to love. And eventually, he made a choice that stuck, to live on his own terms, no matter what comes his way, with a wide-open heart. He began to share his journey and philosophy through teachings, workshops, and inspirational posts and videos that have attracted a huge and devoted social media following. And, he began to create and write. His previous works include Just Love, Iris, and the Li’l Pet Hospital series. Scott also wrote the feature film The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure, an eye-opening experience he writes about in his new book, Big Love: The Power of Living with a Wide-Open Heart. In today's episode, we dive into this powerful journey.+---------------------+We're grateful for the kind support of: ShipStation: Manage and ship your orders. In This Interview, Scott Stabile and I Discuss... The Wolf Parable His book, Big Love: The Power of Living with a Wide Open Heart How shame thrives on secrecy How and when he came out as gay How you help others by being yourself To consider making more and more choices in your life from a place of love That awareness is hard work Asking yourself "what does love invite me to do in this moment?" Love as an energy How his parents were murdered when he was 14 years old That love is an action, more so than it is a feeling Choosing to act from a place of love can be an extraordinarily difficult thing as well as an extraordinarily powerful thing to do in the moment The path of empathy Doing your best to connect with the humanity of others, especially when they have opposing views and they're right in front of you How toxic it is to believe that something is unforgivable and that the pathway to it is empathy and compassion Forgiving because not doing so takes a toll on you as a person How good it feels to be loving The importance of self-care That there is choice in sobriety Depression as a syndrome vs a disease How we are all riding the fine line of addiction all the time The importance of building a more fulfilling life How happiness (and all feelings) is not simply a choice Choosing actions that stand a chance to serve our happiness That action helps assuage fear Please Support The Show with a Donation

This week on Alcohollywood, Hausu and Mallrats guest Nick returns to help us endure the fresh, shiny hell that is 2012’s children’s movie flop The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure! “From the marketing genius behind Teletubbies,” as the trailer tells us, The Oogieloves introduces us to a hellish landscape in which three obnoxious, multicolored monsters (Goobie, Zoozie and Toofie) wander through Lovelyloveville to collect balloons from high place and drink junk food. Along the way, they encounter a number of D-list washed-up actors (Cary Elwes, Chazz Palminteri, Christopher Lloyd, Cloris Leachman, Jamie Pressly, Toni Braxton and others), all hiding sneers of embarrassment at the ridiculous things they've gotta do. Guess you have to pay your mortgage somehow! The whole enterprise is a sloppy, silly mess, and not in the way children’s movies are supposed to be - it's just creepy and desperate. Luckily, we’ll be here to help you adventurize with our custom cocktail and drinking rules – check them out!
Welcome, welcome to FUN! This is technically our Episode 0. About a month before we had the idea to start the cast, we partook in an experiment of sorts. What is contained within is a dramatic re-reading of that insane chat, with movie audio accompaniment.
