Not to be left out, Daren keeps up his digital love of his Switch, with Vigor, Pic-a-Pix Deluxe (and all things Picross / Nonogram). Jeux Vidéo:Pokemon DiamondMechanicusGladiusDarkest DungeonVermintide IICard HunterLivres:Kings of the Wyld (Nicholas Eames)Nick Stefanos Trilogy (George Pelecanos)Rivers of London (Ben Abramovitch)TV/Cinema:JustifiedTenetSons of AnarchyTales from the LoopTech / TI:AR Cut+Paste Apple GlassesGitkrakenQuestions, commentaires: 3d8plus4@gmail.comSuivez-nous sur Twitter: @3d8plus4

This week I talk to Ben Lee of Blue Manchu games. You may remember in episode 63 I spoke to Jon Chey the owner of Blue Manchu, well Ben works there as an art director. Blue Manchu is most renowned for its free to download and play video game called Card Hunter, a dungeon exploring game with lots of interesting twists and takes on. One such idea is that you are not just playing the game, you are playing someone who is playing the game, and it is a tongue in cheek hark back to all the positive recollections of D&D. It was interesting hearing more about Card Hunter but also more about the role of art direction and what this entails, especially in a smaller company. It was also fun to hear about Ben’s journey about working at a GW store, for Disney, and also on the Wren and Stimpy cartoon which I used to love back in the day. A great guest and some really cool insight, I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did! PATREON: https://www.patreon.com/paintalltheminis
Guest Jonathan Chey Jonathan Chey (@Manb0t) | Twitter This week I talk to Jonathan Chey of Blue Manchu. This episode is a little bit off the beaten track but there are loads of cross overs into tabletop/painting world. Jonathan’s company creates video games, and I have bumped into his work many times in the past without knowing but recently when I was thinking about good guests for the show I went to a game I have played for a long time called Card Hunter, which is effectively a dungeon crawler card game but in a video game format, but more of that in the show. Blue Manchu is a group of games developers who create video games, and some games that Jon has been involved with personally in a very integral role have been: Bio Shock, SWAT 4, Freedom force vs 3 reich, system shock 2, wall street tycoon, The Thief franchise (One I particularly love), and many more. As I said this is a bit of a change of tack but there are lots of crossovers into modelling, and remember you cant be playing or be at your hobby desk all the time so when you arent then I encourage you to check out Card Hunter because it is really fun, & free to play. Card hunter is an odd hybrid of D&D style role playing game, board game, and deck building game. It was developed by Blue Manchu Games and originally released as a browser-based game in 2013. Clients for Windows and OS X were released in 2015. The browser version is currently available at cardhunter.com, and the client for PC and Mac is available on Steam.

Grand Theft Auto Online has launched, but sadly, hosts Garnett Lee and Jeff Cannata (and Shacknews' Ozzie Mejia) are stuck at the beginning on a "Waiting for players" message. But one person was lucky enough to get in and that's "Indie" Jeff Mattas, who's here to give us his early impressions of GTA 5's new online mode. But not before a brief discussion about Steam Machines and Valve's new controller. After talking some GTA, the crew talks about Card Hunter and what makes it so great, before lamenting its trip down the free-to-play rabbit hole. The show wraps up with some talk of what everyone's looking forward to playing this holiday season, before flying off into the weekend with some new Finishing Moves and the post-show Tailgate.
The Strange Assembly crew looks at Card Hunter, High Command, Firefly, Time 'n' Space and the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game.
