On this episode of the podcast Phillip is joined for the first time by Mike Justice. The two of them discuss Umberto Lenzi's Nightmare City AKA City of the Walking Dead. Phillip starts by giving the general information for the movie. It's then time for Listener Opinions from Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. The two then discuss the good, the fun, and the odd things in this movie. They had a good time. Then they talk about whether they noticed anything that Tarantino might have liked or used in a film. They individually rate the movie, and then talk about whether they would buy, rent, or find this movie for free. Phillip gives his Phil's Film Favorite of the Week; Rebel Ridge (2024). Mike says that he watched Class of Nuke 'Em High (1986) and that it was a lot of fun. You can find Mike Justice on Instagram @themikejustice. Or on his youtube channel youtube.com/themikejustice Come back next week when Phillip will be joined for the first time by Cayley from Once Over With Cayley on Youtube for Sam Peckilnpah's Straw Dogs (1971). Thanks for listening.
This week Phillip was joined by Craig MacNeil from Craig & Friends Podcast to discuss the Sergio Sollima directed Revolver from 1973. They had a lot of fun. It's a regular show that involves a great discussion. Hope you enjoy. Next week on the show will be Mike Justice to discuss Nightmare City (1980).

Obviously anybody listening to this podcast is a huge fan of horror movies. There is no better time to be a movie fan because of all the incredible releases that keep coming out, not just here in the states, but around the world. From movies that we grew up loving, to the more obscure and unseen titles, it is a never-ending journey to discover or re-discover these titles. And one of the men responsible for helping us fans is Jesse Nelson from Diabolik DVD, as well as Exhumed Films, and more recently Cauldron Films. So sit down and listen to some great stories, and maybe even learn some etiquettewhen it comes to collecting, customer service, and what fans should expect from shops like Diabolik DVD, and the other boutique labels, and realize the hard work they are all doing to bring us fans some great viewing experiences. *Note new my new novel Nightmare City (co-written w/ Anthony Trevino out soon!* Welcome to a special bonus Top Ten list. Halloween 2022 is coming up and I thought we should talk about ten horror fiction novels (ok two short stories and a bunch of novels) I would like to see made as movies. There are some exciting adaptations coming up with Paul Tremblay's Cabin at the End of the World becoming a movie and we have recently seen Josh Malerman and Tim Lebbon's genius novel Bird box and The Silence get made. Sarah Pinbrough's Behind her eyes and more. I think modern horror is covered That's why everything on this list is about 15 years or older. Also, I would love to adapt Lovecraft, Barker, or King but that happens all the time so let's go a bit deeper. So here are ten projects I would want to make if Hollywood tapped me on the shoulder and said David make a horror movie based on something classic that already exists. I would love to see any or all of these but they start at 10 and I become more passionate about them as we go. •You can find my books here: Amazon-https://www.amazon.com/David-Agranoff/e/B004FGT4ZW •And me here: Goodreads-http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/2988332.David_Agranoff Twitter-https://twitter.com/DAgranoffAuthor Blog-http://davidagranoff.blogspot.com/
Voidtober LIVES! We continue our BTV Halloween with VOIDTOBER with a few movies that might tickle your murder bones. Starting with a Italian/Mexican horror movie that definitely IS NOT Zombies, but many have considered the first FAST MOVING Zombies in horror. Tarantino and Roth have loved this film but is it all that? NIGHTMARE CITY (1980) Tells the tale of a what happens when a nuclear power plant changes people into blood thirsty hairy scabs who wield weapons and a mouth full of teeth. After reviewing that masterpiece we move on to the reboot of Evil Dead. Where a new group of kids go to help their friend kick a bad heroin addiction but find she's possessed by an ancient evil. One of the more brutal remakes of horror. See what we thought about it compared to the older films and even the TV show. We get in deep for both films and talk about trivia too! Jokes a plenty. Bad acting. Bad scripts. INCREDIBLE effects. The Cadaver Dogs take a schlock-tastic voyage during their analysis of two international cult classics. What makes these movies so bad they're good? Or, so bad they're… well, bad? By stripping down to the bare bones of Stuart Gordan's DAGON (2001) and Umberto Lenzi's NIGHTMARE CITY (1980), you see the necessities of a horror film. The Dogs analyze the creature design, film direction (what an odd approach to dubbing), and fear tactics that have made these films “guilty pleasures” for horror fans. During their dive into Dagon, an adaptation of The Shadow Over Innsmouth by H.P. Lovecraft, they talk xenophobia and fear of the other. While Nightmare City makes them question the boundaries of exploitation films and if action horror should be a considerable genre. . Up Next: THE INVITATION (2015) / THE SACRAMENT (2013) . Want a date? But with whom? What are the ideals and standards of perfection that men hold women to in modern society? The Cadaver Dogs are pulling back the curtains on the unrealistic expectations we hold in relationships, and the destructive – sometimes explosive – consequences. There have been many interpretations of Takashi Miike's AUDITION (1999) over the years, and oh boy do we have thoughts! On the total opposite of the spectrum lies FRANKENHOOKER (1990), the title and plot of which writer-director Frank Henenlotter improvised during a pitch meeting. But the Dogs will also seek to answer: Are these movies truly sexist, or are they secretly feminist? Or neither? Umberto Lenzi's high-energy zombie movie, that's not a zombie movie, actually.
A recent nuclear disaster unleashes a horde of irradiated zombies on a large city and the viewer is forced to watch a bunch of brain-dead idiots try to fight off an untold number of other brain-dead idiots, who ironically often end up being smarter than their victims. Gary and Iris are traveling on this one. We have been vaxxed but we are feeling slightly aglow. Could it be radiation? We are back to discuss two films where radiation makes people insanely violent. When a scientist’s plane lands, the people inside start a flurry of violence that spreads all over the city and all places in between in Umberto Lenzi’s Nightmare City. Then, a chemical spill causes the inhabitants of an agricultural research lab to become infused with blisters and violent tendencies in Warning Sign.

Stand by. This may be the 1st April but this is no April Fool! This is happening. It's Andy's turn to pick a film, and after the disastrous reception to Body Melt, can Andy sway Mitch back to his side? If it's going to happen, it'll be with this one... It's one that's cropped up in conversation a lot over the years on the show, both from Andy and from listeners. It was only a matter of time we took a look at Umberto Lenzi's masterpiece NIGHTMARE CITY! Zombies? Infected? Vampires? Who the hell knows? Who even CARES? This one is an absolute riot. Check it out. Synopsis is as follows... Our story begins with the arrival of an ominous, seemingly unmanned craft – in this instance, a military plane making an unscheduled landing at a European airport. Upon forcing the aircraft doors open, the waiting soldiers get a nasty shock when out bursts a horde of flesh-hungry, pizza-faced radioactive ghouls. The walking dead are here, and they’re hungry! This week’s Out Now with Aaron and Abe horror special takes a trip to Italia to take on some grisly mysteries. For this special, JoBlo's Jimmy O, Flicks For Fans' Jason Coleman, and The Brandon Peters Show's Brandon Peters join Aaron and Abe to discuss Giallo films (aka stylish Italian mystery thrillers) along with Italian horror films. After years of waiting, the whole gang finally did enough collective homework to put together a substantial episode covering the films of Mario Bava, Dario Argento, Lucio Fulci, and more. So, following some individual thoughts on the nature of Giallo specifically, along with how everyone first experienced the genre, the group goes through a number of movie selections from each member of the panel, further highlighting the topic. This list of films is also in the show notes so that any listener can catch up with plenty of great options falling under this banner. So now, if you've got an hour or so to kill… Get yourself a free audiobook and help out the show at AudibleTrial.com/OutNowPodcast (http://www.audibletrial.com/outnowpodcast) ! Time for the main course in our Italian Garbage Month! We watched 'Nightmare City' and it was truly a nightmare! Listen along as we try to figure out just what these monsters are supposed to be, question the terrible decision making of our protagonist, and try to get Blake enraged enough to fly off on a UFO tangent.
