Birdemic: Shock and Terror is supposed to be a message of environmentalism, but like the shock and terror in the title it misses out on all three. James Nguyen lost his message in an almost violently slow film that tests the limits of boredom. While there are kudos for making the film he wanted, the only lessons here are what not to do. More importantly, we stick hard on the tenet of knowing the structure of a story, particularly the importance of having a plot. Birdemic: Shock and Terror can be found on Tubi.

Sorry, we're done... ...doing in person episodes!!! That's right, we are NOT going anywhere! Moving to virtual episodes starting Friday, August 16th (no episode next week). The boys gathered this week celebrate the final in person episode for a while! Not to mention, Carson and Gavin talked all about the Olympics, Birdemic, said goodbye to Redbox, and unboxed a condom from the 1980s. PLUS, Carson shared his deep dive into the Helen Keller Festival, and the boys read a nostalgic Nextdoor Drama. And sooo much more!! Want to stay up to date with the podcast? Have you ever caught yourself feeling nostalgic for a time that's not even past yet? That's the mind-bending concept we're diving into on the latest episode of the Byword. This week, we're toying with the idea of a Stranger Things-esque show that's not looking back at the 1980s, but forward to how the 2020s might be remembered. Imagine this: a series that captures the essence of what today will mean to us decades from now. Will we reminisce about the rise of TikTok, the global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, or the gaming revolution led by titles like Assassin's Creed Shadows? Our latest episode is not just a walk down a hypothetical memory lane—it's a full-on sprint into the speculative future. We also tackle the latest in nerd news, including the disappointing cancellation of the Silk: Spider Society series on Amazon Prime and the much-anticipated Assassin's Creed Shadows set in feudal Japan. But it's not all serious business—we share some hearty laughs over Rift Tracks' take on Birdemic: Shock and Terror, and muse about the death of monoculture in a world where personalized algorithms define our entertainment. This episode is a love letter to the present, a reflection on how today's culture might be viewed through the rose-tinted glasses of tomorrow. 3 boys, better than ever, all in Billings, balls deep in Birdemic. It isn't Spooktober if the downtown spook boys don't tackle another installment in the Birdemic franchise. Nine years after the sequel to the cult classic climate change awareness/horror film dropped, we get another addition into the lore of director James Nguyen's imagination and creation. How many siblings did Seth have before his father got a vasectomy? How did Lukas help out the poor when he was in Montessori? And who is this know guy that joined us named Moviedamus? "Weird Al" Yankovic helps Paul, Jason, and June break down the 2010 horror film, Birdemic: Shock and Terror, recorded LIVE at the Largo theater in Los Angeles. They dig into all the bad CGI, un-needed B-Roll, the Tippi Hedren “cameo,” and ponder if the environmentalism of this movie really works. On the podcast this time, Steven and Sean are joined by returning special guest, Greg Dengler, to stop this deadly scourge of murderous birds once and for all. We watched the 2010 film from James Nguyen, Birdemic: Shock and Terror.Dear listeners, we may have finally done it. I think we may have seen what could be the worst film ever made. If it's not at the top of the list, then it's in the top three. Without question. After all, it's got every bad thing imaginable: horrifying visual effects, terrible acting, and a script that may have been written by a malfunctioning artificial intelligence. In a way, it's reached a sort of perfection. Not in the sense that it's of high quality. Don't make me laugh. More along the lines of it excels in a way few other films have. One might be able to call it the Citizen Kane of b-movies.Listen on to find out how this month's b-movie will rank with us. Cooper and Nolan are heading to the lake by special request this week when they explore BENEATH! This 2013 monster movie (not to be confused with a different movie from 2013 about trapped coal miners with the same title) tries to deliver intense psychological drama and a powerful message. Unfortunately the result is less "Jaws" and more "Birdemic, but with fish." At least the guys get to spend time with the prophetic old man (Nolan's #1 stock character), and put a modern twist on an old favorite when they play "Who's the real VILLAIN of this movie?" All that plus a surprising number of arguments, so get ready to grab your rod; this episode (featuring a beer from Lake of the Woods Brewing Company) is definitely one you'll want to cast a line for!
