In our search for more knowledge about the horror genre, the films we love, and the people behind them, many horror fans began their journey with reference books. Long before the internet, these books served as stepping stones, introducing fans to films they had never heard of and offering deeper insight into the people behind the movies they already knew and loved. It was like opening doors for the first time—or pushing open ones that had only been slightly ajar—allowing us to explore and learn so much more. In this episode, we welcome author Bryan Senn to the show to discuss these essential reference books. With over three decades of experience writing about sci-fi and horror in a variety of magazines—not to mention his own books on multiple subjects—Bryan brings a wealth of knowledge to the conversation. So sit back and enjoy—but keep a notepad handy, because you might want to jot down a few titles to track down! Films mentioned in this episode: The Abyss (1989), Angel Heart (1987), Attack of the Beast Creatures (1985), The Believers (1987), Blood from the Mummy's Tomb (1971), The Body Snatcher (1945), Captive Wild Women (1943), Chloe, Love is Calling You (1934), Class of Nuke 'em High (1986), The Corpse Grinders (1971), Cry of the Banshee (1970), Death Curse of Tartu (1966), The Descent (2005), Dog Soldiers (2002), Evil Dead (1981), The Fly (1986), The Fly II (1989), Frankenstein's Daughter (1958), Friday the 13th (1980), A Game of Death (1945), The Ghost Ship (1943), The Giant Gila Monster (1959), Halloween (1978), The Haunting (1963), The Howling (1981), The Howling V: The Rebirth (1989), Howling: New Moon Rising (1995), Lady Terminator (1989), Late Phases (2014), Leprechaun (1993), Leviathan (1989), The Long Hair of Death (1964), Lords of the Deep (1989), Most Dangerous Game (1932), The Mummy (1932), The Mummy (1959), The Mummy and the Curse of the Jackals (1969), The Mummy's Hand (1940), The Mummy's Tomb (1942), Mystics in Bali (1981), Nazi Mummy (2019), Night of the 1000 Cats (1972), A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), Onibaba (1964), Robot Jox (1989), Scream Blacula Scream (1973), The Secret of the Mummy (1982), Serpent and the Rainbow (1988), The Seventh Victim (1943), Signs (2002), Sound of Music (1965), Sting of Death (1966), The Strangeness (1985), Sugar Hill (1974), The Thing (1982), Toxic Avenger (1984), The Uncanny (1977), Uninvited (1988), Van Helsing (2004), Voodoo Black Exorcist (1974), Voodoo Heartbeat (1973)
It's time for one of those huge episodes. Well, it's a four parter anyways. 1989 was an okay year for horror movies but for me it felt like the beginning of the end of a certain style of horror that really came to prominence in the early 80s. Presented with the evidence, we change our minds about BandAid40 - that's the power of Christmas...and George Michael appearing on screen with Robbie Williams. We hate all versions of Last Christmas except the original, but Paulo found one that made his palms sweaty. Dori finds 80s Steve Buscemi sexy, Paulo wishes gymnasts wore undies and after watching Sigourney Weaver in Ghostbusters Noël did his best impression of an exploding Stay Puft man...white, sticky stuff etc etc. Plus, we link Grace Jones to the most unlikely place on earth. Dolph Lundgren's nipples quiver with delight. #80s music, #Band Aid, #charity single, #nostalgia, #Phil Collins, #Whitney Houston, #Madonna, #Michael Jackson, #80s culture, #famine relief, #Ethiopia, #Band Aid 40, #Stock Aitken Waterman, #Kylie Minogue, #Cliff Richard, #Jimmy Somerville, #Bono, #lyrics, #generational gap, #charity initiatives, #Robbie Williams, #George Michael, #80s cinema, #Parting Glances, #AIDS crisis, #gay community, #Reagan era, #Steve Buscemi, #Bronski Beat, #Gymkata, #80s action films, #Farrah Fawcett, #Kirk Douglas, #Lady Terminator, #Saturn 3, #Grace Jones, #pop culture, #trivia, #Raiders of the Lost Ark, #The Princess Bride, #Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, #Coming to America, #Dirty Dancing, #Stand By Me, #Top Gun, #Fast Times at Ridgemont High, #The Goonies, #Ghostbusters, #Back to the Future, #Ferris Bueller's Day Off, #Beverly Hills Cop, #Big, #When Harry Met Sally, #Die Hard, #Trading Places, #cultural significance, #impact on music, #legacy, #historical context, #charity efforts, #remakes, #music appreciation, #iconic films, #80s nostalgia, #pop culture references.
Do they know it's inappropriate after all? Band Aid is back for a 40th-anniversary nightmare mash-up. While we love an '80s supergroup, we all know better now—or do we? We uncover what Tim Curry was doing to Freddie Mercury's bushes and explore the meaning behind the lyrics of Karma Chameleon. Spoiler: the phrase “Calmer Chameleon” does not appear anywhere. Dori reminisces about The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show, but all Paulo wants to know is: how does Snoopy poop? Surely, he's above popping a squat in the backyard? Paulo uses sound effects to review the film Lady Terminator. Who knew a dick kick sounded like that? Finally, we share our Christmas wish lists. Dibs on the evil George Michael throw cushion! Vermutlich nicht, schließlich guckt die lieber die Rückkehr von Stefan Raab, als die wirklich wichtigen Themen zu besprechen. We bring you the 12th episode of our specialty show "Take Out Edition" where we will explore the realms of foreign cinema. Our hosts will take you along their travels all over the globe while diving into some of the most lucid storytelling, savage cannibals, vengeful spirits, sadistic killers, and post-apocalyptic zombie-plagued landscapes. Join us as we dissect the classics that prove sometimes fear comes with subtitles. Our hosts, Cameron Scott and filmmaker/musician Thomas Berdinski (Giant Rubber Monster Movie), take you on a Indonesian voyage on this episode with the 1989 science fiction/mystical/action fest extravaganza "LADY TERMINATOR" from director H. Hjut Djalil and starring Barbara Anne Constable. This absolutely crazy and bonkers Terminator ripoff is the tale of what happens when the spirit of an ancient evil sea queen enters the body of an innocent student who then goes on a killing spree. The film borrows heavily from the Terminator, Predator, Conan the Barbarian and about every other Arnold Schwarzenegger movie made up until '89! Cinema Degeneration welcomes you to enjoy some Take Out while we explore the misadventures of Tania and her possession by the South Sea Queen! "We've seen more dead bodies than you've eaten hot dogs, so shut up and eat."

Obviously anybody listening to this podcast is a huge fan of horror movies. There is no better time to be a movie fan because of all the incredible releases that keep coming out, not just here in the states, but around the world. From movies that we grew up loving, to the more obscure and unseen titles, it is a never-ending journey to discover or re-discover these titles. Zontar: The Thing from Venus (1967), The Chooper (1971), and Lady Terminator (1989). Last November, in Episode 4, we discussed the Turkey. Not what some would call a "bad" film, but would probably not be on anybody's Oscar's list. These are the cinematic shipwrecks where the filmmakers tried their best, but just missed the mark in the eyes of most. But if they are still entertaining, then they can't be bad, right? Well we're back again this year to cover three more of these epic miss-adventures of cinema from directors Larry Buchanan, Ray Dennis Steckler, and H. Tjut Djalil. And boy, are you in for a treat with these! Make sure you listen to the whole episode to get a special discount code for Pallbearer Press! So sit back, and enjoy a nice second helping of some Turkey! First she mates… then she terminates. Then we talk about it! Maybe you can't say LADY TERMINATOR is more than the sum of its parts (problematic depictions of women, poor editing, and a sometimes shot-for-shot ripoff of THE TERMINATOR (1984)), but it absolutely doesn't need to be. Blending Indonesian folklore with ‘80s action tropes and a healthy dose of exploitation, it's roughly about the curse of 100 generations coming to roost in the innocent young. But it's so much a product of its time and place that you couldn't imitate it if you wanted to – it's too earnestly ridiculous, too confidently strange to repeat. We loved it.
It's our 50th episode! Wow! What a milestone! And we're back with another 2020 best picture nominee, The Sound of Metal, a film Mike and Bob both thought was great and deserved best picture. What didn't deserve best picture though, was the fun but trashy, nudity-filled Indonesian cult classic Lady Terminator, a straight up rip-off of the first Terminator film but... you know, the Lady version. We find that these films are the same film etc. etc. You know how it be! We also spend quite a lot of time talking about donuts. Don't worry, it's in context. Enjoy! Ian is joined by friends Martin and Bree as they make fun of one of the greatest Terminator ripoffs of all time, Lady Terminator AKA Nasty Hunter AKA The Legend of the South Sea Queen The South Sea Queen has a magic eel in her vagina which bites off the dicks of any dude she has sex with. Other than that it is a blatant Terminator ripoff but a hilarious one at that! Also featuring Chad and Matt who run a video store with the "so bad it's good" category of movies. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/moviessobadcult/support

Today on the 5: Before I watched Black Site, I watched a magnificently terrible Indonesian Terminator ripoff film called Lady Terminator. It is amazing.

Special guest Julie joins Mike and Bobby to discuss a movie that was never meant to be seen outside of Indonesia. Lady Terminator is one of the great rip-off movies to come out of Southeast Asia during the late 1980s. Attempting to capitalize on the Terminator franchise, but with a woman, and lots of nudity, this film is absolutely baffling and deserves a much larger cult following than it currently has. First she mates, then she Terminates!
In this episode of the "Shh, The Movie Is Starting" podcast, Jeremiah and Chris are joined by special guest Scott MacDonald of EuroCultAV.com fame to watch "Lady Terminator", Indonesia's answer to James Cameron's sci-fi action hit with a supernatural twist. You know you're in for a special treat when you discover that the film's lead actress is also the head of the make-up department. Oh, and you can't forget the vagina knife!
This week, we are joined by Wendy Mays of the Pet Cinematary podcast (http://www.petcinematary.com/ ) to discuss her pick, the movie Lady Terminator (aka Nasty Hunter) from 1989! Welcome the newest episode of Dark Discussions, your place for the discussion of horror film, fiction, and all that’s fantastic. Presented by Dark Discussions Podcast is the new monthly Halloween Boutique: A Psychotronic Review podcast where co-host Phil reviews his various special edition blu-rays and DVD's from boutique companies such as Mondo Macabro, Severin Films, Synapse Films, Redemption Video, Code Red, Arrow Video, and all the rest. What's the purpose? Well, co-host Phil figured that if he purchased a special edition of a cult or horror film home release with extras and remastering of the motion picture, why not give his 15 minute opinion of each film right after he watches them. Similar to the Dark Discussions Terror Tantrum segment by Patrick Lacey or the Bloody Bits podcast by Jason Lloyd of Horrorphilia, Halloween Boutique takes some of the recent releases and obscure titles and goes into the background of the movie, how is the film itself, what the presentation and remastering is, and discussion on the extras upon each disc. This first edition of the podcast includes reviews of Redemption's 1978 English slasher, Killer's Moon, the Indonesian cult classic Lady Terminator, Mondo Macabro's definitive edition of director Jess Franco's Sinner: Diary of a Nymphomaniac, Severin Film's special edition of director Jess Franco's She Killed in Ecstasy, and Arrow Video's release of director Walerian Borowczyk's The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Miss Osbourne. Included is Patrick Lacey in a new Terror Tantrum discussing the Vinegar Syndrome release of the monster flick Hobgoblins. In this episode I (Jay) make Paul watch the Indonesian action classic "Lady Terminator" (which is NOT AT ALL A RIP-OFF of the James Cameron film The Terminator...unless you count plot and dialog and stuff like that). Paul makes me watch "No Escape" starring Ray Liotta as a person who is NOT a gangster or bad-guy, so I'm not sure WHAT to make of it. We share our first iTunes review, which is from a friend but still counts, and Paul's mom, Teri, leaves us a voicemail...as a fan, thank you. Please join us!

This week, I travel overseas (via Skype, that is) and talk to a couple of American-born mofos I know who decided to live abroad. For today's Crizzlecast, I head over to New Zealand to talk to Doug Dillaman, a filmmaker, editor and well-known cinephile who also did some living time over in my hometown of Houston. We discuss his early days as an aspiring film geek in H-Town, how he ended up living in New Zealand and the egos he had to deal with when editing a project. He also educates me on the Detroit tradition known as "Devil's Night" and encourages me to stop worrying and love Lady Terminator. Yes, I learned a lot during this conversation.
http://searchforschlock.com/media/podcasts/sfs-005-LadyTerminator.mp3 Download MP3 PLOT SYNPOSIS: Some time ago, an Indonesian folklore mainstay called the Queen of the Southern Sea vowed revenge on the descendant of the one man who was able to capture the eels that come out of her vagina. In the present, she possesses the body of an innocent anthropologist. Now an indestructible killing machine, the anthropologist doesn't feel pity or remorse, and she absolutely will not stop, etc. etc. FAMOUS FOR: I may have glossed over the concept of "vagina eels" just now. To reiterate: sex with the Queen of the Southern Sea and/or her Lady Terminator guise generally ends with the male's genitals being eaten by eels that hide in her vagina, while blood sprays all over his face. Often the male looks perturbed or uncomfortable during this process. PREPARE YOURSELF FOR: A much more faithful adaptation of the Schwarzenegger original than the first fifteen minutes would suggest. Just about every scene you remember is represented as Lady Terminator -- who first shows up completely naked, encountering leather-clad hooligans -- hunts Indonesian Sarah Connor from nightclub to police station to abandoned factory. This time around we get a much-needed assist from Andrew's brother James, whose pop culture knowledge rivals our own, but whose ability to access that knowledge in a timely fashion is quite a bit superior.Original post located at searchforschlock.com.
