We welcomed former Blue Jays Devon Travis to the show to talk about his Opening Day experience with the team back in 2015 and why he believes that this season's version of the team can be a winner. There's so many Ryans on today's episode! What are we going to do with all these Ryans?First of all, host Ryan Andrews will start with high praise for Ryan Borucki in the rookie's 6 1/3 inning outing against the Red Sox. Andrews notes how effectively Borucki was using his slider and dealing with a difficult Boston lineup. However, in the second segment, Andrews has to discuss another blown save by Ryan Tepera. With the Texan's usage rate up, the Nova Scotian Ryan discusses how Tepera's value seems worse because of the high-profile nature of his blowups, and discusses a point Cliff Floyd made about the mentality on the mound affecting Tepera's performance. Andrews concludes with an assessment of where Tepera goes from here, against the likes of Danny Barnes and Justin Shafer. The final third is a mixed bag. Andrews shakes their head at the route Kevin Pillar took in creating Steve Pearce's game-changing triple last night and what that error did to multiple Blue Jays on the field. However, Andrews closes with a happy discussion of the double steal that Devon Travis and Jonathan Davis executed in the sixth and what it means for the Blue Jays to have speed that can be used on the basepaths.Follow the podcast on Twitter @LockedOnJays and follow the host @NeoAC18!Subscribe on Google Play and iTunes! This episode is sponsored by Locked on Fantasy Football 24.7, ZipRecruiter and Locked on College.  Learn more about your ad choices. It's a good thing the Blue Jays won last night, as it sustains Ryan Andrews before they get to the topics at hand in today's episode!Andrews highlights all the good things the Blue Jays did in last night's 10-3 win over Tampa Bay. From a 12-batter first inning that featured Billy McKinney's on-base strikeout, Devon Travis' pair of hits and Aledmys Diaz and his big blast, to a good Aaron Sanchez performance, to Rowdy Tellez and his emotional MLB debut, Andrews gets as many happy feelings in the podcast as they can.The second segment answers a report that John Gibbons is 99.9% gone as manager of the Blue Jays. Andrews accepted this inevitability, but they discuss just how much credit Gibbons deserved for the 2015-16 runs that the team made and where he ranks in the pantheon. The Nova Scotia also discusses Eric Wedge's candidacy for the job and questions how well the former Cleveland and Seattle manager fits in modern baseball. (There is a Scott Elarton reference!)The final segment discusses the beginning of a four-game series with Cleveland and Josh Donaldson's presumed return to Toronto. Andrews discusses Donaldson's importance in Blue Jays culture and what he means to the team, as well as the proper ovation that the Bringer of Rain deserves should he step onto the field. Julian Merryweather is mentioned.Follow the podcast on Twitter @LockedOnJays and follow the host @NeoAC18! It's a sweep-celebrating episode of the podcast today! But does host Ryan Andrews have an interesting plan for the Blue Jays to discuss? In the first segment, Andrews praises the efforts of young Thomas Pannone and his dazzling performance against Baltimore. The host is especially pleased with Pannone's seventh-inning efforts when things could have easily unraveled for the Blue Jays. Andrews says that is the real sign that Pannone can be a key piece for this club.In the middle segment, Andrews turns to Joe Biagini and another strong outing from the erstwhile starter/reliever. The Nova Scotian cites a great interview done by Jenn Smith for The Sporting News that offers some insights into how Biagini is attacking the rest of the season and trying to establish his rhythm. Andrews approves. In the finale, Andrews discusses a plan for Teoscar Hernandez and that plan is demotion. With Billy McKinney playing well and Lourdes Gurriel set to return from the DL, Andrews says that Hernandez should be sent on the Devon Travis express to Buffalo to regain confidence in the tail-end of the AAA season. It can't hurt.Check out Jenn Smith's article at the link below and follow her @Baseball_Jenn!http://www.sportingnews.com/ca/mlb/news/joe-biagini-toronto-blue-jays-reliever-consistency-up-down-season-marco-estrada-marcus-stroman-mlb-news/a9kw5tmrxwx41o35qgv2oxk3nFollow the podcast on Twitter @LockedOnJays and follow the host @NeoAC18!Subscribe on Google Play and iTunes! This episode is sponsored by Locked on NFL and Locked on College. A brief Monday Musings today, but an important one as host Ryan Andrews talks about the new Blue Jays debuting tonight! The host opens in the first half with a discussion about the Blue Jays recent series against Tampa Bay, and how it served as a perfect microcosm of the season. Andrews laments the inability of the Blue Jays offense to curtail its hyper-aggressive habits and highlights how the team out-Rayed Tampa in the Sunday game by using Devon Travis and the speed of Kevin Pillar. Andrews questions whether Brook Jacoby shouldn't be shown the door regardless of whether John Gibbons stays on at the end of the season. In the second half, Andrews hypes up the debut of Sean Reid-Foley and Danny Jansen tonight in Kansas City. The Nova Scotian discusses how they feel this is a sign of the Blue Jays youth movement finally kicking into high gear and how it serves the ultimate goal of having a full team in place by the time Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is ready to become an MLB superstar. Ryan Borucki and Lourdes Gurriel get special mentions in this segment. Thanks to @douge77 for their contribution to the podcast!Check out the host's article at @JaysFromCouch! Follow the host @NeoAC18 and the podcast @LockedOnJays!Subscribe on iTunes and Google Play! A tough day all around for the city of Toronto yesterday and Ryan Andrews does their best to put a positive spin on the baseball aspect. In the first half, Andrews praises a rare decent day for the offense, despite the lack of production with RISP. Andrews singles out Devon Travis and Yangervis Solarte with good nights at the plate. The Nova Scotian also praises Marcus Stroman's strong start against a top opponent, but wonders if precautions shouldn't be taken with the blister Stroman appeared to be dealing with.In the second half, Andrews digs into the bullpen, as Ryan Tepera and Ken Giles earn deserved scrutiny. Andrews questions whether or not Tepera let his anger get the best of him, especially in the wake of some questionable calls. The host also wonders if Giles is not trusting his slider enough as an out pitch, as his fastballs won't work on guys who can hit 98 mph easily.Follow the podcast @LockedOnJays and the host @NeoAC18!Subscribe on iTunes and Google Play! The host of Locked on Blue Jays is in the dark and it appears the Blue Jays are as well.Host Ryan Andrews battles through a planned power outage at the studio to try and shine some light on what happened in back-to-back 8-3 Blue Jays losses to the Red Sox. The focus is on the starting pitching as per usual, with Aaron Sanchez and Marco Estrada failing to deliver yet again.Andrews also shows some ire for the bullpen, taking Joe Biagini and Danny Barnes to task and wondering if the trips to Buffalo haven't eroded their confidence to the point of underperforming. The host also discusses the re-emergence of "caveman baseball" in the second game and how it doesn't serve the Blue Jays at all to engage in such tactics. The Nova Scotian tries to end with some positive notes about Kendrys Morales and Devon Travis, but comes around to the struggles of Kevin Pillar and sees the happy vibes disappear. Follow the podcast @LockedOnJays and follow the host @NeoAC18!  Learn more about your ad choices.
