We also talk about our mutual love of the film “This is Spinal Tap.” But, hey, enough of my yakkin'… Whadaya say? Let's boogie! Questions and Topics: What was the audience of 82,000 you played for? Did you have the full range of relationships with the big name performers? “Can't be overly familiar with the boss…” Do you ever get bored playing the same music every night? You have a whole section on my resume/website and book called “Gigs I DIDN'T get and why.” Why do that? Lessons learned — it's often not your fault Do you try to find out why the last guy was fired? In 2014, Debayan Sen was cleaning the family attic in Kolkata when he made an unexpected discovery: a dusty, old vinyl record called Disco Jazz. What astonished him was that his mother Rupa was on the cover. Debayan had no idea his very traditional Indian mother had even had a music career. Not only would that album reveal Rupa's secret disco past but also an underground fanbase of millions worldwide. She got so many people through lockdown with her wonderful, positive, fun and freeform Kitchen Discos. The pop star has juggled raising FIVE BOYS with her own demanding career while also making one of the world's most popular parenting podcasts - 'Spinning Plates' Supermum? We think so on Weekend breakfast but Sophie Ellis-Bextor is far more practical. Thanks so much for that but I think it's pretty easy to be grounded when you have five kids. I'm bottom of the rung in this house!! 🤣 She told Weekend Breakfast with Alison Curtis about the mad house she lives in, her wonderful new album 'Songs From The Kitchen Disco' which has all her hits plus some amazing covers (Pulp, New Order) She talks parenting 5 boys and is so open and honest about her difficult early pregnancies and she also talks about her parenting podcast. Another Sunday, another set. This one takes us backto 2019, when my dear friend Dyane Prozac asked me to play at her birthday bash party at the drag slot. For me Dyane has something essentially punk, so I was surprised to find out that she actually is a Disco Diva. I still want to share this set with you played at the Drag Slot and altered and elevated to the second part of my set at last Salon Queertronique: Sissy, Elektrojahre einer Kaiserin. Enjoy it deeply!
