S Ecclesiastes 3:1 says "To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:" I heard my pastor Cam Huxford about 17 years ago at Savannah Christian church now Compassion Church preach a series on the Paradox of the Kingdom of God, of how in so many ways the Kingdom is the opposite of what we would think on our own. For example you must die in order to live and if you give you will receive. There is much more to this than what I just shared and I probably need to try and find the sermon again and listen, but the reason it has stuck with me is that time and again it rings true for me. I used to really enjoy the Seinfeld Show and one of my favorite episodes was when George and Jerry came to the conclusion that George's instincts were always wrong and so George began doing the opposite of what he thought he should do. In some way I think that applies to the Christian walk. Proverbs 14:12 says “There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.” I know that we have the gift of the Holy Spirit but I can only speak for myself that I do not trust my own instincts on many matters and need to seek God and ask him to guide me all the time. This creates tension but I think it's a good tension. There's another aspect to the Kingdom journey and walk I want to talk about that is similar to that Paradoxical aspect and that is the tension of knowing when to be humble and when to be bold, specifically in the workplace. I believe I shared about 6 months ago that I received some correction at work. It was hard to take and it was humbling. Things have gone much better since then. I've received a lot of positive feedback, both in terms of WHAT I've been doing, meeting work metrics, and HOW I've been doing it, specifically that I had shown kindness to fellow workers. I've heard it said that the Christian walk is a tension between grace and law, between humility and boldness, between strength and weakness, and our response and focus should vary depending on where we are at in our circumstances. When we're at a low point in our circumstances at work, we should focus on God's grace, on His Promises, and on our inheritance and status as children of the living God. Some verse that express that come to mind include: Eph 6;10 "be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might", Hebrews 4:16 "Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.", Phil 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me", and Romans 8:37 "Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us." There was a season where my wife and I were very much following what is called "Word of Faith" doctrine, and attending a word of faith church. Some of the preachers known for this are Kenneth Copeland, Andrew Womack, and Charles Capps among others. This is often referred to as the Prosperity Gospel. I agree there are errors in this part of the body. I have not thrown the baby out with the bath water and I believe God wants us to speak his word with power and confidence, particularly when we have been humbled and beaten down, whether it was a self-inflicted wound or not. When we are at a high point at work, we just got a promotion or an attaboy, we're feeling like we're providing value to others and have refined our skillset, those are the times, I believe, when we need to focus on our weakness and be humble. That doesn't mean we should not celebrate our blessings and good times, but we should give glory to God and not to ourselves. We don't want to be like King Nebuchadnezzar who in Daniel 4:30 " was walking about the royal palace of Babylon. 30 The king spoke, saying, “Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for a royal dwelling by my mighty power and for the honor of my majesty?” Immediately God made him to be like a wild beast eating grass in the wilderness for 7 years. James 4:10 says " Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up." As believers we are children of the most High God, but we are NOT God. Like the old saying, we need to believe that there is a God and we are not Him. We are never as bad as we think we are at work in our lowest moments, nor are we as great as we might think we are at our greatest moments. E For an example of Faith at Work, I want to use an example the very first person I interviewed on this Podcast, Dave Brown. Similar to the story of Chuck Colson, Dave humbled himself and dedicated himself to God through in the middle of his long career in government. He later went to Seminary and became a pastor and has lead a ministry to men. For more on Dave, check out episode 1 as well as Episode 140 where Dave and I talked about Isolation, Passivity, and Political Idolatry. L As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life. 1 Timothy 6:17-19 - https://www.biblegateway.com/passage?search=1%20Timothy%206:17-19&version=ESV A https://www.patreon.com/christianmenatwork https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/christianmenatwork H What did the ocean say to the shore? - Nothing, he just waved

Last week, an acquaintance of mine, Kelly Watkins reached out on Instagram to share a post with me about how she'd be diagnosed with incurable blood cancer and asked if I'd be willing to have a conversation about death and dying on the podcast. She herself has worked on both sides of life as a nurse in labor and delivery, a hospice nurse, and then outside of western medicine as a death doula, so she has a lot of perspectives to share. Of course, I said yes and this episode is that conversation. One of the things we both noticed about midway through the conversation was that we could have gone deeper and tapped into more of the things that people prefer not to talk about AND we felt a sensitivity around the current climate around COVID-19 and the Coronavirus and the mortality and death we're about to be confronted with across the globe - so we trusted that where we did go was perfect. A few of the threads we pulled in our chat were: being a mother of five under quarantine right now with just one of her babies, what matters most to her right now and why, definitions of grace and the presence of grace in her current experience and experiences she's had with clients and patients over the years, death as a calling, how life and death are connected, how important it is to talk about death, how we need to find ways to be more comfortable with this and more. As I'm feeling more compelled to approach interviews this year - we just hit record and went until we felt complete, which was about 90 minutes. I hope you'll be transformed and moved by this tender conversation, share it with loved ones and use it to spark your own inquiries and explorations of your relationship to death and dying and any shifts you may want to make around that. This week on From Idea to Done Josh and Erick talk about Fundraise Awesomer, a book written by the local ball of energy, Patrick Kirby. While the book is written with non-profits in mind, those in sales can utilize many of the great tips in it.J/E: Hey Everyone, I'm Josh and I'm ErickE: Today's Idea is workweek organization. We’re going to base this off of our crazy friend Patrick Kirby. He has written a book called Fundraise Awesomer. I know the book is kind of directed to people in the nonprofit sphere. I wanted to review it from the perspective of a sales and marketing person. J: Patrick is a delightful human being. Even on my most positive and excited moments I run about 20% of his baseline of energy.E: One thing I have learned over my years in sales is people who are great at nonprofits are really good to associate with. You will learn really applicable things to do for your business. Realistically sales is fundraising. Give or take a really little bit, we are all asking for money. I would buy basically anything from Patrick. That made this book worth a read. J: Tell me some of the takeaways from the bookE: One of the biggest takeaways is planning. Disgusting planning and routine. As a pretty high energy person myself, I have been saying for the past couple of years now, focus the laser. The book says Mondays are for planning, Tuesdays are for doing, Wednesdays are for documenting, Thursdays are for celebrating, Fridays are for appreciatingThis isn’t 100% of what I have implemented into my week, but I have taken some nuggets and applied them to my week. J: I think it is good to silo your activity around energy levels. I try not to have sales meetings on Friday’s as i’m pretty low energy. Another book I read called Fanatical Prospecting talks about protecting the golden hours. Basically don’t do email or social media during the time that you should be talking to leads.E: For my rule I kept Monday’s are for planning. I don’t schedule anything Monday morning anymore. That gives me a chance to come in look at my week, and prep. My Tuesdays and Wednesdays are for doing. Coffee, lunch, networking events, etc. Thursdays and Fridays are for marketing. I implement gratitude, celebrations, into that. I write actual thank you cards and online reviews of area businesses I like. Friday before I leave. I review and document my week then give myself a grade. J: What was your grade this week? E: I have gotten C’s both weeks this year, mostly due to not going to the gym, and not getting these episodes recorded.Organized action, planning, gratitude, celebrations, and tracking are at the stem of the best nonprofits I know, and at the same time the stem of all the best sales people I know. J: It’s really easy to get busy being busy and not doing something that is most important. By being intentional with your week you have a better shot of getting through all the must do’s for the week. E: One last little tip from the book I wanted to share was the quote, “You can’t ask anyone for a donation before you know the name of their dog.” This is true for asking for business too. J:I think in our world we need to know what is important to the partners we are talking to. Some favor price, some just need to make sure they are heard, and others just want a final product and to tell them when you are done. Not a one sized solution thats for sure. So what was your big overall takeaway on the book from you?E: Salespeople should implement practices used by great nonprofits. If someone is great in that world, they are doing it will less time and money than regular business. Learn from them. J: Thank you for listening to this episode. Wild ones...very excited to share four points with you today in the realm of Love, Dating, Sex + Intimacy. With Valentine's Day coming up, whether you're single or in a relationship the artificial pressure can get intense. The four things we're getting into today could help you navigate that. And they're also incredibly valuable regardless of the time of year. The Love, Dating, Sex + Intimacy points I'm covering today are: Chemistry does not equal compatibility What I call, "Medicine for the 'too much' wound." Hint: it has to do with cultivating your willingness to be handled. And I have a great story from an event I taught at in 2015 where this concept was introduced to me. How people with tough exteriors often also have the most sensitive interiors. And finally, Truth talk for open-hearted people: Physical intimacy without emotional safety is risky business. In a recent podcast listener survey, a lot of you listed trauma and healing under topics you'd like to see explored more in 2020 on the show, so I hope you enjoy today's guest, Irene Lyon who is a nervous system expert and somatic practitioner! Her big truth was that we're at a point in time where we have the science, research, practices and immediacy to heal deep stuff. We talked about what somatic work is, the difference between the parasympathetic and the sympathetic nervous systems and touched on Polyvagal Theory. She helped me understand the difference between trauma trained and trauma informed - a very important distinction as we all consider practitioners, guides, teachers and coaches in various areas of our lives. And we also got into neuroception, our sensitivity to safety or danger, common trauma responses that people might not realize is their trauma talking, and how we can value the health that IS present. It's a great chat, you might want to listen more than once. It's the final episode in the Journey Into the Wild Soul!! If you've been tuning in over the last several weeks, you know we've covered all kinds of juicy things, from deep committed practice and the importance of integration, to surrender, releasing, trust, receptivity, passion, purpose, love, truth and how EMBODIMENT is one of the most effective ways to bring it all together and LIVE it. Might sound like a tall order, but it's actually quite elegant and practical when you get down to it! In today's episode rather than a year in a review or an entire preview of 2020, I've framed it in a way that integrates the immense reflection, integration and clarity December provided for me. I have mentioned elsewhere that I was REALLY into moving into a new decade. What I got really into was reflecting on who I had become, the lessons I had learned and the things, habits, people and etc I had completed with over that decade. In that reflection were a few things that had to do with BEING SUPER HONEST WITH MYSELF about what has worked in the past and what actually honors who I am now. It’s always exciting when new truths reveal themselves, and sometimes it’s also inconvenient, but that’s life isn’t it - the best choices are not always the easiest ones to follow or make. When you are connected to your body, heart, soul and inner authority - you just know better than to ignore the nudges, though. One last note - just because 2020 has begun, doesn’t mean you can't do this type of reflection yourself if you have yet to or find yourself with the desire after listening to this episode. Y'all! This is the last interview of 2019...next week we start the Journey Into The Wild Soul, which I'll say more about in a moment, but first, today's guest is someone I was looking forward to having on the show all year. Her name is adrienne maree brown and her book Emergent Strategy is one that I keep near by to flip through like an oracle deck ever so often to be inspired, ignited and reminded of who I am and what I'm here to do. Quick note before we get into the interview, adrienne travels a ton for teaching and facilitating and had to get ready for a flight during our interview, so there is some background noise, however, it didn't impact her level of presence at all and the convo is golden. Now that that's out of the way, her big truth was that she's going to die, which sparked a conversation around how things move and what really matters to her. We talked about humility and curiosity and "doing" separate from productivity, meaning, how can you do what you want to do with the time you have. We talked about how we're all socialized under capitalism and the impact that has on how we connect and relate to one another. She shared how she maintains a healthy nervous system as she navigates becoming more visible in her work. We discussed rigor and not just getting people to do "their work," but to stay in it, which led to a discussion of shame and accountability. And finally, we geeked out on somatics and embodiment. I really loved this chat and hope you will too. Share it up, find us on Instagram, let us know what you thought, use it to have discussions with your loved ones...you know the drill. You all know how much I love healing conversations, especially with people who are deep practitioners and incredible space holders. Today's guest, Erin Telford is both. We've been circling each other online for years, so this chat was making an official connection, and then I got to attend one of her breathwork sessions a few days after so I can tell you with certainty, this woman is the real deal. Erin's big truth was about our connection to the "unseen." From there we got into the reason I invited her on the show - a post she wrote about why the term "woo woo" is degrades and denies the power of healing practices and modalities. It's cool if you disagree, we both share this perspective and that's what it is, one perspective. We talked about assumptions about healing and healers, breathwork as a modality, navigating fears around "taking on other people's stuff," the importance of great facilitation in healing spaces, our power to self heal, boundaries, and why our triggers are our responsibility. It's a good one, y'all - enjoy, share, and let us know what you touches you! xo, E For more information and for full show notes, head to http://untameyourself.com/324 Truth Telling with Elizabeth DiAlto aims to cut through the noise and ignorance of our current culture by exploring the truths of a diverse range of incredible voices. Whenever I go to events or conferences, I don't try to meet the most people, I try to meet the right people. It's usually just one to three people and today's guest was one of those people from an event I attended in 2018, Nikki Innocent. Nikki's big truth was around it being the right time and place right now for anyone to be here, in this particular vessel, creating change in one way or another. From there we talked about bearing witness to other people's stories, what it brings up for us and how to be with discomfort when it arises. We're also both communication nerds so we spent a good bit of time getting into the difference between tone policing and methodology, self-policing, the many polarities we live in, cancel culture, what progress actually looks like and conversations stoppers, deflection tactics and accountability. We talked about the components of a real, effective apology and how to embrace and show up as who we are now as we grow. Y'all, you know I wasn't trying to have too many coaching conversations on the podcast this year, but today's guest Shirin Eskandani is here because this woman has much more to bring to a conversation than basic coaching advice. Her big truth was that we have to look up to shift our perspectives and from there we got into a conversation about mindfulness, the relationship between joy, acceptance and guilt, navigating adult relationships and creative patience. She also shares some of her personal experiences immigrating from Iran to Vancouver at a young age, then coming to the US to pursue her dream of being an opera singer. Spoiler: not only did she realize that dream, she did it in a big way and the result is not what you might expect to hear. We also explored the impacts of whiteness in wellness spaces, code-switching, and the relationship between self-worth and service. So, a few months back I posted on Facebook and Instagram that I was looking for more men to invite on the show and one of the first recommendations I got was for today's guest, Amir Khalighi, founder of Embodied Masculine. In my initial call with Amir, I really appreciated his devotion to the Divine Mother and the way he spoke with reverence and respect for both the earth and women, as well as the connection between the two and all of us. Before we dive in I want to make a note that this conversation did lean in the heteronormative direction since most of Amir's work and experiences as well as my own are in that realm. We also bumped into some crunchiness around gendered terms and certain teachings, which I never mind because like I say in the show intro, not every guest's views reflect my own, nor should they all the time. His big truth was around how disconnected we are from, nature, Source ourselves and our higher selves. A few things Amir shared - the masculine body has a longer distance to travel to get to the pleasure side of themselves, what happens when a man is not allowed to express what is in him to be expressed, and why he's not into pacifism as an approach to oppression. He also walked me through some archetypal stuff from a few bodies of work he incorporates deeply into his practices with men. My hope is this is an episode people of any gender can listen to and share with the men in their lives to gain some perspective and maybe even some understanding and connection to bridge some gaps and create some growth and healing among us. Y'all...you know I love a good stirring of the pot and that is what return guest Shanda Catrice came back on to do with me today. We're digging into a topic that some folks will feel really defensive and protective of - the Law of Attraction. So as always, I invite you to stay curious and open as you listen. Shanda's big truth in this episode was that you don't always have to know the answer. From there we got into why it's important to take breaks from your personality, how everything in the Universe serves a purpose because if it didn't, it wouldn't exist, and how spirituality is technology. We dug into some etymology - the context of words and how they're used, specifically the word destiny--and we talked about surrender, freedom, change, resistance. Then we spent a good chunk of time on the juicy unpacking of how the Law of Attraction is not a substantial Universal Law, the impact your destiny has on your ability to manifest things, cognitive dissonance, metaphysics, religious science, emotions and beliefs. My guess is we're going to get a lot of notes about this one, so find me on IG @elizabethdialto, email us at hello@wildsoulmovement.com, and share the episode to let us know what you think! xo, E For more information and for full show notes, head to http://untameyourself.com/320 Truth Telling with Elizabeth DiAlto aims to cut through the noise and ignorance of our current culture by exploring the truths of a diverse range of incredible voices. Those of you who have been around listening for a while have undoubtedly heard me mention Tosha Silver and her book Outrageous Openness before. Maybe you've even listened to her first interview which was all the way back in the first 25 episodes of this show in 2015. Either way! I'm excited to have her back to discuss her latest book, It's Not Your Money - the concepts of which can be applied to many besides money. Her big truth was around not being able to say yes to everything and from there we got into authenticity, not in a buzz word way, in a connecting to your true self and being of service way. We talked about why it's not your money, people's pain around money, and how to stop worrying about money for folks who do, which led to a conversation about what abundance actually is, how to ditch fear around money and becoming a conduit for flow. We also talked about one of my favorite topics of late, what is not useful about the Law of Attraction, befriending the harsh judgmental parts of growth and healing, the relationship between reciprocity and deserving, how we handle loss and practices for letting go, and more. It's a deep and winding conversation - I hope you love and look forward to hearing what resonates with you! xo, E For more information and for full show notes, head to http://untameyourself.com/319 Truth Telling with Elizabeth DiAlto aims to cut through the noise and ignorance of our current culture by exploring the truths of a diverse range of incredible voices. In today's show, we're exploring something we never have before - hypnotherapy as a healing modality. And we can't talk about hypnotherapy without getting into beliefs and how the subconscious mind works, so I was really excited Stephanie Kwong, a dear friend of mine and brilliant practitioner, agreed to come on the show to jam on all of it. This was a really fun and also personal conversation where we both shared some of the beliefs we've been working to rewire. Steph's was around making it hard for people to love her. Mine was around trusting myself but not trusting others. We talked about patterns, managing expectations, and the ways we delete and distort information in our reality to make things match our current beliefs. She also walked me through the four ways to actually change your beliefs for good. This is a really juicy conversation - a combination of personal stories and examples, as well as client stories, really bring home just how complex our minds are and how important it is to pay attention to the ways we act based on what we think is true that isn't necessarily true. It's taken me about two years to get today's guest on the show and it was so worth the wait! Before we dive in though I do want to give a trigger warning for anyone with sexual assault or abuse in their history because we do go there a bit and Betsy shares pieces of her story and experiences. Her truth was about reclaiming the potential of the body to feel good, especially as it relates to female sexual dysfunction. This launched us into a conversation about body memory. Often we hear about the body storing trauma and "bad" memories and Betsy reminded us that the body also stores potential and good memories. We talked about honoring the uniqueness of healing journeys, body wisdom, body truth and what the "care" in self-care actually means. Betsy shared her experience and perspective on menopause, orgasms, reclaiming our voices and responsible use of our stories and storytelling. It's so good, I hope you love listening to it as much as I loved having it. Another dear friend and repeat guest is with us today - Jadah Sellner. Jadah is one of my favorite people to jam on business with since her approach is totally focused and centered on love and having a vision that means something to you - but we spent a good chunk of this chat talking about trauma, healing and growth. And when we do get to the business stuff - no matter what you do in the world, much of what she talks about is totally applicable to other career paths. We got into how going to therapy has helped her move forward in areas of her life and business in ways she couldn't have anticipated, how we can use our stories responsibly, and a few different things related to capacity - survival tendencies, being in the Zone of Excellence and how deeper listening creates space for more expansion. Enjoy this chat and if you are an entrepreneur be sure to invite your friends to listen and discuss the more unconventional points we covered...you know, for funsies! xo, E For more information and for full show notes, head to http://untameyourself.com/316 Truth Telling with Elizabeth DiAlto aims to cut through the noise and ignorance of our current culture by exploring the truths of a diverse range of incredible voices. My dear friend Rebekah Borucki is back for her third visit on Truth Telling and this time her big truth is around realizing that she has influence and is not the underdog she's perceived and positioned herself as for most of her life. We talked a lot about motherhood, from mom guilt, going after your dreams, finding balance in relationships, the difference between raising young kids and having older children, to dealing with conflicts, giving kids the space and support to be who they are meant to be, and more! The conversation is less about parenting and more about the experience of being a mother through all of its phases and stages. As always when Bex is in the house, it's a juice and deep conversation. Megan Dalla-Camina is on the show today and we're talking about womanhood, rebirthing, softening of edges, receptivity, unfolding, unraveling and coming into truth. So many of our favorite things on this show! She dropped some terms I loved - appreciative inquiry and positive core - and she talked about navigating a deficit based world by finding openings and focusing on our strengths. We discussed the difference between things that make sense and things that "want to come through," how scary it can be to be soft, especially if you over-identify with being strong, why "leaning in" isn't always great advice, and this distinction I really loved - between simple, boring, settling, and creating drama. Sarah Durham Wilson is back on the podcast today and we dove into the journey from Maiden to Mother. It's an archetypal journey - so no matter your age or whether or not you've birthed a human, a lot of what we cover may be relevant for you. We talked about the "initiations of strength" along the way, how in Maiden we take unhealthy risks in creativity and vulnerability, and by Mother we are moving from external validation to internal. Which led us to a beautiful conversation about boundaries and aging, postpartum depression, fear of betraying our own mothers, embodying our souls, becoming more present and finding the gold in seemingly "bad" things. A few weeks back I asked on IG stories what I should jam on this month in the solo episode and a surprising number of the questions were about business, so I decided to do a biz chat. The timing is also good as Summer is upon us and I’m doing the business immersion that I did last summer again. I resisted doing business coaching or mentoring for many years, because a) I find A LOT of business coaches to be pretty douchey and b) I’ve had really up and down experiences with them myself over the years, so it felt like a huge responsibility I didn’t necessarily want to take on. When enough people ask you for something though you begin to listen and accept that perhaps you have something of value to offer, and I realized my value lies in helping folks find what works for them, that can be aligned and sustainable. There are also some qualities of shared worldview, integrity and ethics my business clients tend to have: humanity and the collective > profits. But money does matter. Just not in an ego-y way, in a generous way. The more we have the more we can share and contribute. The soul desires to express. How can we optimize that and fulfill our potential? How can we live like my favorite Erma Bombeck quote? "When I stand before God at the end of my life I would hope I have no talent left and can say, 'I used everything you gave me.'" When you’re here to do what you’re here to do, it’s ok to stretch yourself, in my experience you’ll feel stretched and uncomfortable a lot, you’ll just get good at navigating it. This episode is about all of that and more. Listen more than once. Share it with your business besties or biggest supporters. Have some conversations about it, and if you feel compelled, apply for my Summer Immersion here: http://wildsoulmovement.com/biz2019 xo, E For more information and for full show notes, head to http://untameyourself.com/308 Truth Telling with Elizabeth DiAlto aims to cut through the noise and ignorance of our current culture by exploring the truths of a diverse range of incredible voices. I've been connecting with today's guest, Jeanette LeBlanc online for years and it was beyond a pleasure to finally get to drop in with her for an interview. If you visit her website, jeanetteleblanc.com, what she does is clear as day. It says, "I help people find their words (and use them really well)." And you know how much I love putting words to good use!! So here's what we got into... Jeanette's big truth was about dismantling the myth that we heal in isolation, which led us into a conversation about cycles of healing and how repeating lessons isn't necessarily negative. She shared the origin story of how she's evolved and iterated from being a good girl, preacher's daughter with a science degree to a mommy blogger, birth doula, photographer and the rebellious writer and guide that she is now. And of course we talked about our stories: the difference between the stories we tell, finding the truths in our stories, how our stories connect and heal us, and how the creative process of storytelling doesn't have to be a big thing that requires a microphone, platform or even an audience. Enjoy this one and share it up - stories and words are universal things we all have access to, there's a lot of power to be mined here. Our first comedian is on the show today. Living in LA, one of the things I've been aspiring to do with the show for a while is get a greater variety of creative folks on as guests, so I'm so happy Omrah Menkes said yes when I invited her! Omrah is a multi-skilled artist, with passions including stand up comedy and animation. Her big truth was around being true to herself. We talked about searching, freedom, and fulfillment in this episode and got into the various parts of these journeys. From grief, comparison, love, generosity, and making friends as an adult, to caring for people, pets and self - connection and creativity were two big themes we explored. She also shared a bit about being raised in Israel, coming to the US to pursue her artistic career endeavors, some cultural differences, and how all of the different experiences have served her, even in difficult times. I love today's guest so much. Her name is Ahlea Khadro and she's someone I consider a "pocket person" - meaning, we talk so often I feel almost as if she is in my pocket constantly and I adore her. Her big truth was that rupture and repair are more important than being perfect. From there we got into the undulations of life, the cycles of creation, the great dance of back and forth that we do constantly as we evolve and heal. We talked about resiliency and intention, especially as it relates to parenting. Ahlea generously shared a lot about her experience as a single mother, of stewarding a being, from childbirth on, and how throughout these stages women are called upon to use skills they don't always get to use, but absolutely have. She talked about savoring the moments of peak intensity, some of the issues light polarization creates in New Agism and how we engage with ourselves during challenges. This conversation was so juicy and we touched on so many healing topics, I can't wait to hear what you take away from it. Today's guest, Christina Dunbar is another multi-passionate and talented artist and creative and I loved her big truth - it was about not being one thing. I have a feeling a lot of you will be able to relate to this. She talked about being sexual, spiritual, smart, shy, bold, tender, fierce and more. We got into the creative impulse and her journey from the world of ballet and being shy growing up, to becoming an exotic dancer to support herself and finding her voice. We talked a lot about storytelling as a beautiful machine that creates empathy and compassion. We discussed creative process and inspiration, what brings our senses alive about witnessing other people's art, the healing benefits of sharing ourselves creatively and more. I loved this chat. I met today's guest, Shivani Hawkins at an event about decentering whiteness in yoga and mindfulness spaces. I was touched by her deep connection to and reverence for her Hindu lineage, as well as her depth of practice, understanding, knowledge and philosophy. We live in an age when it's easy to take pieces of all sorts of teachings, so to be around someone who has gone so deep with one, is a beautiful thing. Her big truth was about how everything comes down to the art of seeing. From there we got into practicing self-inquiry without shame, the difference between shaming and holding people accountable, and how shame is not inherent in truth. We also discussed how harm occurs as the result of a lack of self-inquiry because the choices we make that are not examined can only go the way of our conditioning. We talked about the difference between meditation and visualization, and my favorite part of the conversation was about the difference between seeing, listening and hearing. I hope you enjoy this one as much as I did. I know our entire audience isn't entrepreneurs, but for those who are, this episode is for you. As well, if you are genuinely curious how business, branding and start ups work, it's a great conversation to listen in on. I met our guest, Arielle Loren in 2015 when she attended my Wild Soul Movement retreat in Costa Rica. Ever since I've really enjoyed watching her business and trajectory evolve and we dove into all the parts in this conversation. We talked about integrating larger social issues into business, which is what she's been doing by focusing on the disparity between how funding gets allocated to the rest of the entrepreneur field vs what's available to early stage, women of color founders. She explained the difference between different types of funding, what "bootstrap mentality" means, and how to leverage and build credit and gain access to certain circles. We explored where people waste their money in the early stages of running a business, the psychology and process to sales, working remotely, AND the role self care, focus and perspective play in running a sustainable business. I also loved hearing about her various ventures over the years, living abroad, and how she landed in Miami as her current home base. This is a rich and layered conversation. In this episode we talk about our experience growing up in the Middle East, specifically in the United Arab Emirates. We cover our first impressions of the country, bullying that we went through in middle school. We also talk about some quirky aspects of the U.A.E; like the corner shops that will deliver whatever you want to buy to your doorstep for free! The episode ends with some fun things we recommend people do if they ever visit the U.A.E :) For some extra fun: Take a sip of water everytime we say the word 'interesting' :D
Today's guest Sara Bliss wrote a book where she interviewed more than 65 people about their big life transitions, specifically related to career changes. As someone who geeks out on life transitions, period, I was excited to dive in with her around what she discovered through all these conversations and experiences. Her own big truth was around the leap she took in releasing this book from being behind the scenes for many years as a ghostwriter, to being on the front end of things with this endeavor.During the interview, we talked about the many different aspects of change and transition. She shared why she isn't a fan of the advice to "follow your passion," but prefers to be really invested in it. Which also led us to the difference between a passion and a calling. We also got into the impact these big changes and transitions had on people's relationships. Keisha Shields is on the show today. We explored leadership in depth and she provided some incredible distinctions around transparency, storytelling and oversharing. Her big truth was around issues leaders have and the difficulty of "claiming space." We talked about different types of leaders, how people come to their true center and the distinction between privacy and secrecy. Keisha shared a bit of her story, along with her practice of being an open chapter, but not an open book, which I loved, and we also explored the value of sharing our stories and storytelling. We got into discerning when it's valuable to share the story of an experience, or the story of the impact the experience had on us, the difference between healthy and unhealthy validation and determining if and when we are safe ourselves or we are protecting someone else's safety. This is a really smart, fiery, and fun conversation, enjoy! B: The leading actor Hanks was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role at the 73rd Academy Awards for his critically acclaimed performance.E: The film describes an engineer named Chuck who worked in FedEx suffered in a storm through one assignment. He was trapped in an uninhabited island, losing everything about his contemporary life.B: Then, he initially tried to signal for rescue and made an escape attempt with the remnants of his life-raft, but he couldn't pass the powerful surf. He searched for food, water, shelter, and opened the packages, finding a number of potentially useful items. E: He left one package, with a pair of wings painted on it, unopened. His sole purpose is tobe alive. He lost everything but had his "friend" Wilson through his rough days. He tried to escape the island day by day, year by year. Thanks to his belief, at last, he survived and had his own outlook on life and on love.B: It is so moving! After seeing it, I have also been deeply touched.E: Sure. If you are interested in this film, I think you are interested in what's behind the scenes look too. B: You can talk some.E: For example, the volleyball in the film was under the hammer which cost 18400 dollars and contrary to the public's opinions. However, FedEx didn&`&t pay the movie for one dollar.B: 哈哈. That's amusing. E: It is really a wonderful film. It tells us so many truths as well as life enlightenments.B: Yeah. When I saw this movie, I&`&m deeply moved. I suppose it teaches us three truths. The first one is “There&`&s life, there&`&s hope”.E: After he strands on a desert island, he feels scared and hopeless. But he doesn&`&t give up. Instead, he searches for every possibility to escape from it and get the rescue. Eventually, he makes it. Because there&`&s life, there&`&s hope. B: The second one is “Use all resources around you”. He uses trunks to make a word “Help”, uses bud silk skirt of express which drops out of the lost plane, drills wood to make fire, catches crabs in the ocean and drinks coconut milk. SH: It has to say that he is a wise man. He almost uses everything around him to live.E: The third one and the most important one is “You should have a belief which can help you insist”. On the lonely island, his belief is his girlfriend. Every time he feels despairing, he will look at her photo. Then, he will be full of hope. B: In addition, he draws a smiling face on a volleyball and views it as his best friend. Also, he gives it a name “Wilson”. He talks with it day and night, so that he will not feel lonely.SH: But the film also leaves us some regrets. When Chuck returns home four years later, his girlfriend has been someone else&`&s wife and mother. That is to say: Time waits for no one.E: Like Chuck says: "I&`&ve lost her all over again".B: Maybe it is life, filled with challenges and unknowns. We must have belief and courage to “encounter” it.E: Bella, which line touches you the most? B: “The tide came in gave me a sail. I gotta keep breathing. Because tomorrow the sun will rise. Who knows tide could bring?”SH: It has no reason not to become a classic film. I think we should be like it. Whatever the difficulties we meet with, we will never give up and try everything, because who knows what tide could bring?B: Although I have seen it once, it will always be in my mind.E: Sure. It is so moving.B: How time flies! It's the ending of this programme.E: If you want to hear something about your favourite film, you can recommend to us. See you next time.B: Bye.

For example, South Korea.那么说起韩国美食,你们首先想到的是什么呢?G: Absolutely Kimchi!V: Yeah, that's true. Speaking of south Korean dishes, what we first think of is kimchi. Kimchi is a Korean pickle or Korea pickle&`&s nickname, can also be called South Korea pickle, northeast China is called "fresh ethnic mix vegetables". So we called it "kimchi" is not correct indeed.G: sounds like 咸菜 in China. They're very alike! do u know what is the difference between two of them? Then it&`&s American time.V: So you want to talk about the American food?E: Yeah…Refer to the American food, what&`&s your first thought, Value?V: Well...the KFC? And ...the McDonald&`&s… there are so many fast food restaurants in China. Do you like it? Such as hamburgers and French fries and so on.E: Yep. Although hamburgers and French fries are called junk food, I like them very much. Fast food is the typical American diet culture, it is very popular. As we all know, the theme of America food is fast and convenient.V: Can you speak more details? What do they often eat every day?E: Of course. American breakfast is mainly about bread, milk, eggs, fruit juice, cereal, coffee, sausage, etc…V: As far as I know, they have fast food for lunch in working place, Usually have a sandwich, fruits, coffee, hamburgers, hot dogs, etc...E: And dinner is the most important of all, there are usually two dishes, such as steak, pork chops, roast pork, Fried chicken, with bread, butter, vegetables, fruits, snacks, etc…V:Well, there are also many people in the restaurant for dinner.E: What's your point of the American food , Georgia?G: 说到这个,我可是知道好多呢。Americans like to eat sweet and sour fish, sweet and sour pork, Fried, Fried beef steak, Fried pork, Fried chicken, Fried chickens and other meat dishes, love with iced water, mineral water, Coca-Cola, beer, whisky, brandy and other drinks, like to add ice drink, In contrast to the Chinese, they don&`&t like to drink tea.E: Wow… 你知道得比我都多,应该让你来介绍美国。。。那说了这么多,你们有感受到中美饮食文化得差异吗?V: Of course! I have found that there are lots of differences between America and China.E: For example?V: Americans like meals a day, 每餐适量, but the Chinese traditional diet habit is have three meals a day. G: Yep, many Chinese people used to buying fresh food daily cooking, but Americans tend to be one-time purchase a week of food stored in the refrigerator.E: 确实,许多中国人习惯每日购买新鲜食品烹饪;美国人往往一次性购买一周的食品贮存在冰箱里,每日食用冷冻食品。V: And Americans have a dinner party without waste. 中国许多家庭逢年过节时菜肴特别多,应酬也特别多。而美国人宴客或过节,从不铺张,连总统宴请外国元首也是五菜一羹,更不劝酒。E: Wow, tonight we learned much about the food culture, so what&`&s your feeling now?V and G: Very very hungry!E: Yep, me too.
