God won't act until we ask. Perhaps the most basic and most mysterious aspect of prayer is the question of why it's necessary at all. The Almighty knows our needs, He knows what we're going to ask - so why ask? The answer has something to do with how God likes to work. He desires to get us involved in advancing His agenda. And that will change us, as it changes the world. Here's Pastor Jim with Part 2 of this sermon. First of all... pray! We have this upside-down, don't we? People say, "That proposal hasn't got a prayer," meaning not even such a tiny hope as a prayer. Prayer is last, and least. But in the New Testament we see Christians praying first - before acting, before using the political means available. And we see God answering those prayers! While waiting for mercy... show mercy! For those who are doubting, those who have been tricked by false teachers - for those who have just plain fallen back into sin, what do we do? Christianity is all about redemption, but there is a danger. The lifeguard knows that when he swims out to rescue a drowning man, he's putting his own life at risk. Overconfidence can be fatal. Apostles against apostasy! As we wrap up our study of 2 Timothy, we'll see that it wasn't just Paul who was worked up about liars infiltrating the church. Peter wrote about it, and Jude, as well. Jesus had warned us of wolves in sheep's clothing - well, they had arrived. And it would only get worse. The "eyewitness generation" was passing away just as a tsunami of falsehood was rushing in. Time really is running out. When Paul exhorted Timothy to "preach the word," he told him there was a time limit! And it may not be the one you're thinking of. Before the Lord returns for His church, the window of opportunity for explaining the truth may close. "The time will come when they will not tolerate sound teaching," Paul wrote. If you're not selling pretty lies, they're not buying. Here's Part 2 of Jim's sermon, Preach the Message. Heard any good fairy tales lately? I know you've heard some bad fairy tales lately. When divine truth is discarded, it isn't reason and logic that rush in to fill the void; it's superstition and nonsense. Our postmodern era is defined by its hostility to truth. This condition can't continue forever, of course. But while it does, what do we do? The Apostle Paul had some thoughts on that, in his second letter to Timothy. Christians go off the rails when we forget. Paul was going home, but he wanted Timothy to stay on track. So he gave Tim, and us, four things to remember. Scripture will be one of those, of course; but there are also human examples who've walked this path before us. And there are a couple more that we'll think about in the next few minutes. Let's join Pastor Jim as he's musing on 2 Timothy 3:12, and the persecution we should expect, as followers of Jesus. Would you leave the Shepherd, to follow the Wolf? Jesus has brought all kinds of sheep into His flock, rescuing them from all sorts of lies and addictions and sins. But the Wolf promises them freedom from the sheep pen - plus hidden knowledge, and prestige in the world. And some of them jump. That's not an explanation of apostasy, but it is a little parable to illustrate Paul's concern. We're studying his 2nd letter to Timothy. Arguing is not one of the spiritual gifts! Imagine this: Some scoffer wants to debate you about the fine points of Deuteronomy - and by your demeanor in that discussion, you give him justification to reject the gospel. "Where's the grace?" "Where's the gentleness?" he wonders, self-satisfied. "Those Christians can be downright mean." How do we guard the truth while somehow living out the love? We're in 2 Timothy 2; Jim is looking at verse 24. Flamed anyone on the internet lately? The temptation to put someone in his place - for the Kingdom, of course! - might be greater today than it was for Paul and Timothy. We can have opportunities to argue with people all day, every day. And when we take that bait we run afoul of a few instructions in 2 Timothy 2. We can wrangle about words and quarrel and chase empty chatter, all in a single tweet. Jim would like to help us with, Avoiding Satan's Trap. Soldier, runner, farmer - they have one thing in common: focus! Actually, the symbols that Paul uses in 2 Timothy 2 have plenty of similarities: Honest effort, discipline, we would say a disdain for instant gratification, and an appreciation for the better, but later reward. And there's another picture that Paul wants his protege, Tim, to keep in view. Don't drop the baton! Paul's leg of the gospel relay was almost completed; he wanted to be sure that Timothy's hands were steady, and that he was ready to run! In 2 Timothy, chapter 2, we find the metaphor of an athlete, as well as comparisons to a farmer, and a soldier. In fact, Jim sees 7 "Pictures of Courage" - the title of the sermon we'll begin today. Was grace a secret? In the opening chapter of 2 Timothy, Paul writes, "This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus...." When we saw the Savior, we saw the grace - the unmerited favor of God. And that's only the beginning! But this "promise of life" we've been studying is tied back to promises God made to the children of Israel. Don't skip the greeting! I admit that I tend to read, "Paul, an Apostle, and so on, blah blah blah..." and skip to the body of the letter. If you're doing that too, here's what we're missing: "Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God according to the promise of life that is in Christ Jesus...." That's everything, isn't it? Life, eternal life, is what everyone wants. There's a promise we can have it. And it's "in Christ Jesus." Timothy wasn't the only one to get gifts! We're reading 2 Timothy, and it's obvious that young Tim had some gift related to his ministry, imparted by the laying on of Paul's hands. That's not a gift given to everyone. But Paul continues by naming some gifts "we" have. Could you use some power in your life? Some love? Some self-control and discernment? You already have them, according to this passage. Here's Jim at 2 Timothy 1, verse 4. What if the Apostle Paul's last letter were addressed to you? Paul's epistles are among the most important pieces of literature in the world. He wrote his final letter knowing it would be his last, and he chose to communicate with a young Christian leader named Timothy. That's the note we call, "Second Timothy," and we'll be reading it closely in our new series. In these few pages of the New Testament there is Truth for our Toxic Times. While you turn there, Jim will get us started with a story. Catholic Money Mastermind - Financial Planning conversations with Catholic CFP® Practitioners
Today, Brian Wayne from LifeGuide Financial Advisors joins Ben Matinek to explore integrating Christian principles into financial planning, emphasizing faith, stewardship, and intentional living. Drawing on themes such as evangelical poverty, detachment, and trust in God's providence, the discussion highlights the importance of aligning finances with one's spiritual purpose. Inspired by examples like Rick Warren and saints such as St. Francis of Assisi, Ben and Brian underscore setting "financial finish lines" for spending and saving to foster generosity, spiritual growth, and contentment. They combine practical financial strategies with theological insights, encouraging Christians to view wealth as a tool for charity and service rather than accumulation, ultimately promoting lives centered on holiness and eternal impact.Key Takeaways:• Wealth is seen as a gift from God but requires detachment to avoid excess. Faith calls for a balance between providing for oneself and being open to charity.• These emotions often block openness to others and trust in God's providence, underscoring the need for sacrificial generosity and faith.• Greed focuses on acquiring more, while fear revolves around financial insecurity. Both hinder faith in God's providence and the ability to serve others.• A 10% tithe is viewed as a starting point for detachment and generosity, with openness to God calling for more.• This concept aligns with biblical teachings, such as the parable of the rich fool, emphasizing reliance on God rather than excessive storage or hoarding.• Figures like St. Francis of Assisi exemplify evangelical poverty, trusting in God's provision and focusing on holiness rather than worldly achievements.Key Timestamps:(00:00) – Brian Wayne from LifeGuide Financial Advisors(01:50) – Balancing Wealth and Holiness(05:00) – Incorporating Evangelical Counsels(07:12) – Poverty and Charity in Christian Life(09:32) – Practical Reflections on Wealth and Fear(13:54) – Examples of Saints and Poverty of Spirit(19:17) – The Greater Good of Detachment(22:12) – Practical Considerations for Financial Planning(23:40) – Establishing Financial Finish Lines(33:31) – The Savings Finish Line(37:34) – Christian Financial Goals(40:13) – Conclusion and Contact InformationKey Topics Discussed:Catholic Money Mastermind, Catholic financial planning, Catholic financial planners, Catholic financial advisors, Ben Martinek, faith and finances, Evangelical poverty, Brian Wayne, LifeGuide Financial Advisors, Charity, Greed and FearMentions:Website: https://lifeguidefa.com/team/brian-wayne/ Mentions: https://www.vatican.va/archive/hist_councils/ii_vatican_council/documents/vat-ii_const_19641121_lumen-gentium_en.htmlhttps://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew%205%3A1-12&version=RSVhttps://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2%20Timothy%204%3A6-8&version=RSVhttps://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke%2012%3A13-21&version=RSVhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=waHqUtpt2xgMore of Catholic Money Mastermind:Catholic Money Mastermind Podcast is a personal podcast meant for educational and entertainment. Telethon last call: Today is officially the last day of our telethon and we need your help to get us to the $25,000 goal we are trying to raise to hire a media production team. So head over to the store and make a donation, sponsor a show, purchase a product or sign up for a monthly subscription. (All monthly charges are multiplied by 10, then applied towards our telethon goal). Writer's Mutiny: Today on the Dominic Enyart show, Scott Shamblin and Nicole McBurney take over the studio to talk about all the bums in the street and what we should do about them! We had some technical issues uploading content yesterday, but have since added a link to yesterday's take over show in the show summary. Be sure to check that out if you haven't seen it yet! I'm from the Government and I'm here to help: At the end of 2022, the Biden Administration has released a plan they call " All In: The Federal Strategic Plan to Prevent and End Homelessness" that aims to reduce homelessness by 25% by the year 2025. And over in the People's Republic of California, the city of San Francisco is reported to have spent $600 million dollars in 2020 in an attempt to "solve" the problem of all their streets turning into homeless encampments. We discuss the failures of San Francisco and why the Biden Administration is only going to cause more problems. Bob's Donation: Back in 2011, Bob got a request for a homeless donation, but sadly was unable to fulfill the request. He was, however, able to interview the gal who was working with the homeless and discuss with her what are the best ways to help. Biblically Sound: The Bible is absolutely jam packed with information and it even tells us who ought to be helping these people, how they should do it, and how they should NOT do it.
XVIII. The FamilyGod has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. It is composed of persons related to one another by marriage, blood, or adoption.Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. It is God's unique gift to reveal the union between Christ and His church and to provide for the man and the woman in marriage the framework for intimate companionship, the channel of sexual expression according to biblical standards, and the means for procreation of the human race. The husband and wife are of equal worth before God, since both are created in God's image. The marriage relationship models the way God relates to His people. A husband is to love his wife as Christ loved the church. He has the God-given responsibility to provide for, to protect, and to lead his family. A wife is to submit herself graciously to the servant leadership of her husband even as the church willingly submits to the headship of Christ. She, being in the image of God as is her husband and thus equal to him, has the God-given responsibility to respect her husband and to serve as his helper in managing the household and nurturing the next generation.Children, from the moment of conception, are a blessing and heritage from the Lord. Parents are to demonstrate to their children God's pattern for marriage. Parents are to teach their children spiritual and moral values and to lead them, through consistent lifestyle example and loving discipline, to make choices based on biblical truth. Children are to honor and obey their parents.Genesis 1:26-28; 2:15-25; 3:1-20; Exodus 20:12; Deuteronomy 6:4-9; Joshua 24:15; 1 Samuel 1:26-28; Psalms 51:5; 78:1-8; Psalms 127; Psalms 128; 139:13-16; Proverbs 1:8; 5:15-20; 6:20-22; 12:4; 13:24; 14:1; 17:6; 18:22; 22:6,15; 23:13-14; 24:3; 29:15,17; 31:10-31; Ecclesiastes 4:9-12; 9:9; Malachi 2:14-16; Matthew 5:31-32; 18:2-5; 19:3-9; Mark 10:6-12; Romans 1:18-32; 1 Corinthians 7:1-16; Ephesians 5:21-33; 6:1-4; Colossians 3:18-21; 1 Timothy 5:8,14; 2 Timothy 1:3-5; Titus 2:3-5; Hebrews 13:4; 1 Peter 3:1-7.Read Commentary on Article XVIII – The Family
In this Wednesday night teaching Bro. Derrick covers 2 articles of The Baptist Faith & Message:• Article XII. Education• Article XIII. StewardshipXII. EducationChristianity is the faith of enlightenment and intelligence. In Jesus Christ abide all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. All sound learning is, therefore, a part of our Christian heritage. The new birth opens all human faculties and creates a thirst for knowledge. Moreover, the cause of education in the Kingdom of Christ is co-ordinate with the causes of missions and general benevolence, and should receive along with these the liberal support of the churches. An adequate system of Christian education is necessary to a complete spiritual program for Christ's people. In Christian education there should be a proper balance between academic freedom and academic responsibility. Freedom in any orderly relationship of human life is always limited and never absolute. The freedom of a teacher in a Christian school, college, or seminary is limited by the pre-eminence of Jesus Christ, by the authoritative nature of the Scriptures, and by the distinct purpose for which the school exists.Deuteronomy 4:1,5,9,14; 6:1-10; 31:12-13; Nehemiah 8:1-8; Job 28:28; Psalms 19:7ff.; 119:11; Proverbs 3:13ff.; 4:1-10; 8:1-7,11; 15:14; Ecclesiastes 7:19; Matthew 5:2; 7:24ff.; 28:19-20; Luke 2:40; 1 Corinthians 1:18-31; Ephesians 4:11-16; Philippians 4:8; Colossians 2:3,8-9; 1 Timothy 1:3-7; 2 Timothy 2:15; 3:14-17; Hebrews 5:12-6:3; James 1:5; 3:17.XIII. StewardshipGod is the source of all blessings, temporal and spiritual; all that we have and are we owe to Him. Christians have a spiritual debtorship to the whole world, a holy trusteeship in the gospel, and a binding stewardship in their possessions. They are therefore under obligation to serve Him with their time, talents, and material possessions; and should recognize all these as entrusted to them to use for the glory of God and for helping others. According to the Scriptures, Christians should contribute of their means cheerfully, regularly, systematically, proportionately, and liberally for the advancement of the Redeemer's cause on earth.Genesis 14:20; Leviticus 27:30-32; Deuteronomy 8:18; Malachi 3:8-12; Matthew 6:1-4,19-21; 19:21; 23:23; 25:14-29; Luke 12:16-21,42; 16:1-13; Acts 2:44-47; 5:1-11; 17:24-25; 20:35; Romans 6:6-22; 12:1-2; 1 Corinthians 4:1-2; 6:19-20; 12; 16:1-4; 2 Corinthians 8-9; 12:15; Philippians 4:10-19; 1 Peter 1:18-19.
In this Wednesday night teaching Bro. Derrick continue with part 2 of, "Last Things," Article X of The Baptist Faith & Message. God, in His own time and in His own way, will bring the world to its appropriate end. According to His promise, Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly in glory to the earth; the dead will be raised; and Christ will judge all men in righteousness. The unrighteous will be consigned to Hell, the place of everlasting punishment. The righteous in their resurrected and glorified bodies will receive their reward and will dwell forever in Heaven with the Lord.Isaiah 2:4; 11:9; Matthew 16:27; 18:8-9; 19:28; 24:27,30,36,44; 25:31-46; 26:64; Mark 8:38; 9:43-48; Luke 12:40,48; 16:19-26; 17:22-37; 21:27-28; John 14:1-3; Acts 1:11; 17:31; Romans 14:10; 1 Corinthians 4:5; 15:24-28,35-58; 2 Corinthians 5:10; Philippians 3:20-21; Colossians 1:5; 3:4; 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18; 5:1ff.; 2 Thessalonians 1:7ff.; 2; 1 Timothy 6:14; 2 Timothy 4:1,8; Titus 2:13; Hebrews 9:27-28; James 5:8; 2 Peter 3:7ff.; 1 John 2:28; 3:2; Jude 14; Revelation 1:18; 3:11; 20:1-22:13.
As we continue to "Explore the Baptist Faith & Message," Bro. Derrick teaches us about Article VI. The Church. VI. The ChurchA New Testament church of the Lord Jesus Christ is an autonomous local congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel; observing the two ordinances of Christ, governed by His laws, exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by His Word, and seeking to extend the gospel to the ends of the earth. Each congregation operates under the Lordship of Christ through democratic processes. In such a congregation each member is responsible and accountable to Christ as Lord. Its two scriptural offices are that of pastor/elder/overseer and deacon. While both men and women are gifted for service in the church, the office of pastor/elder/overseer is limited to men as qualified by Scripture. The New Testament speaks also of the church as the Body of Christ which includes all of the redeemed of all the ages, believers from every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation. Divorcing Normalcy Bias - This is not a drillWebsite: http://www.battle4freedom.comNetwork: https://www.mojo50.comStreaming: https://www.rumble.com/c/Battle4Freedomhttps://www.thebehavioralscientist.com/glossary/normalcy-biasWhat Is Normalcy Bias In Behavioral Economics? What Is Normalcy Bias?Normalcy bias is a psychological phenomenon in which people have a tendency to underestimate the likelihood or impact of a disaster or other crisis. This bias can lead people to make inadequate or inappropriate preparations for a crisis, or to underestimate the severity of the situation. For example, if a hurricane is approaching, people with a normalcy bias may assume that the storm will not be as bad as predicted and may not take appropriate action to evacuate or protect their property. Normalcy bias can be dangerous, as it can cause people to underestimate the risks of a situation and to be unprepared for the consequences. To avoid normalcy bias, it is important to carefully evaluate the potential risks and impacts of a crisis and to take appropriate action to prepare for it.https://a.co/d/eJgwtA0Come, Let Us Reason: An Introduction to Logical Thinking"Incorrect. What therefore you worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you. 24 The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, 25 nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything. 26 And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, 27 that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us, 28 for“‘In him we live and move and have our being';as even some of your own poets have said,“‘For we are indeed his offspring.'29 Being then God's offspring, we ought not to think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and imagination of man. 30 The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent, 31 because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed; and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead.”32 Now when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked. But others said, “We will hear you again about this.” 33 So Paul went out from their midst. 34 But some men joined him and believed, among whom also were Dionysius the Areopagite and a woman named Damaris and others with them.Huge ideas about ourselves and tiny ideas about God!https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm+86%3A10&version=ESVPsalm 86:10 For you are great and do wondrous things; you alone are God.https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Deuteronomy+6%3A4&version=ESVDeuteronomy 6:4 - Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one16:04 Imaginining somethingBelieving thatin myself, I havethe power to be satisfiedCulture and the Death of GOd - Terri EagletonWhen God is rejectedDavid Wells - One https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%2095%3A6&version=ESVPsalm 95:6 Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2%20Timothy%203%3A15&version=ESV2 Timothy 3:15 and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Jeremiah+9%3A23&version=ESVJeremiah 9:23 Thus says the Lord: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches,https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Jeremiah+9%3A24&version=ESVJeremiah 9:24 but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. In this teaching Bro. Derrick concludes Article V of the Baptist Faith & Message: God's Purpose of GraceV. God's Purpose of GraceElection is the gracious purpose of God, according to which He regenerates, justifies, sanctifies, and glorifies sinners. It is consistent with the free agency of man, and comprehends all the means in connection with the end. It is the glorious display of God's sovereign goodness, and is infinitely wise, holy, and unchangeable. It excludes boasting and promotes humility. All true believers endure to the end. Those whom God has accepted in Christ, and sanctified by His Spirit, will never fall away from the state of grace, but shall persevere to the end. Believers may fall into sin through neglect and temptation, whereby they grieve the Spirit, impair their graces and comforts, and bring reproach on the cause of Christ and temporal judgments on themselves; yet they shall be kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation. C. God the Holy SpiritThe Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, fully divine. He inspired holy men of old to write the Scriptures. Through illumination He enables men to understand truth. He exalts Christ. He convicts men of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. He calls men to the Saviour, and effects regeneration. At the moment of regeneration He baptizes every believer into the Body of Christ. He cultivates Christian character, comforts believers, and bestows the spiritual gifts by which they serve God through His church. He seals the believer unto the day of final redemption. His presence in the Christian is the guarantee that God will bring the believer into the fullness of the stature of Christ. He enlightens and empowers the believer and the church in worship, evangelism, and service. B. God the SonChrist is the eternal Son of God. In His incarnation as Jesus Christ He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Jesus perfectly revealed and did the will of God, taking upon Himself human nature with its demands and necessities and identifying Himself completely with mankind yet without sin. He honored the divine law by His personal obedience, and in His substitutionary death on the cross He made provision for the redemption of men from sin. He was raised from the dead with a glorified body and appeared to His disciples as the person who was with them before His crucifixion. He ascended into heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God where He is the One Mediator, fully God, fully man, in whose Person is effected the reconciliation between God and man. He will return in power and glory to judge the world and to consummate His redemptive mission. He now dwells in all believers as the living and ever present Lord. There is one and only one living and true God. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being, the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. God is infinite in holiness and all other perfections. God is all powerful and all knowing; and His perfect knowledge extends to all things, past, present, and future, including the future decisions of His free creatures. To Him we owe the highest love, reverence, and obedience. The eternal triune God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.A. God the FatherGod as Father reigns with providential care over His universe, His creatures, and the flow of the stream of human history according to the purposes of His grace. We often talk about death as a destination - like a ship pulling in to the harbor. But the Bible writers called it a "departure." The journey is just beginning for the one who dies in Christ! And who doesn't share the thrill of excitement watching a ship pull away from the dock, toward new adventures? That's one of the five mental rearrangements that we should make about death - as modeled by Paul in 2 Timothy 4. Here's Jim to wrap up, The Art of Dying Well, Part 3. We could say that Paul's death began on the road to Damascus. We've been talking about the art of dying, and there are some great masters of that art in the Bible. Paul was one of them. When he encountered Christ on that highway, he started to live - to truly live! And he began to die. But the greatest in the art of dying was Jesus, and we'll look at His example first. Everybody believes in something- but how do we understand the God of 1 Timothy 6:16? Today, Dr. Alex McFarland and Bill have a foundation conversation about the basics of the gospel. Historic denominations are dying. Pastors and church leaders are concerned about their churches plateauing. Why? When Dr. Matt Queen joins Bill, he discusses one of the major reasons is because congregations aren't being publicly called to faith in Christ, through his book The Gospel Invitation: Why Publicly Inviting People to Receive Christ Still Matters. Welcome to Day 1989 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom Intelligent And Wise – Daily Wisdom Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1989 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote and some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. So we are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on today's trek as we increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2016%3A16&version=NLT (Proverbs 16:16) How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver! If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Bryant H. McGill, and it is: An intelligent and wise person is never afraid or ashamed to find errors in their understanding of things. Intelligent And Wise We should not be ashamed to admit that we are wrong or may have errors in our work unless it is habitual. Only a truly intelligent and wise person is also mature enough to understand that you gain intelligence and wisdom by making mistakes, learning from them, and then continuing excellently. Now, there is a point if you keep repeating the same mistakes and you are not adding intelligence or wisdom that you may not be intelligent or wise. Intelligence is the accumulation of knowledge, while wisdom is an accumulation of common sense and life skills. So when you make mistakes or have errors in your work or studies, you have a choice to add to your learning and wisdom and make corrections, or you become a simple fool. In the first situation, there is no need to be ashamed. In the latter, you should be ashamed that you are not gaining intelligence and wisdom. Choose wisely. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2%20Timothy%202%3A15&version=NLT (2 Timothy 2:15) Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth. Welcome to Day 1963 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom Adjust Your Sails – Daily Wisdom Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1963 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote and some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. So we are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from Unknown, and it is: Although we cannot change the direction of the wind, we can adjust our sails. Adjust Your Sails It is very accurate that we cannot change the direction of the wind, no matter how ingenous we become as humankind. We have learned to use the wind to our advantage through windmills to pump water, generate electricity, and make vehicles of all types more aerodynamic. We have had to learn how to use the forces of nature created by God to allow us to flourish as the human race. Even in a tiny sailboat, you can use the wind to progress forward if you know how to adjust your sails properly. There are no excuses for giving up. It is up to you to learn how to take advantage of the headwinds of life. Even the smallest planes always take off into the wind to achieve the lift needed to become airborne. So the next time you have to face the wind or feel you have been dealt a bad hand in life, learn how to set your sail, or play your hand to your advantage. God provides us with many lessons about life, and it is up to us to learn the lessons He is teaching us. Once you understand the lessons, teach them to others. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2%20Timothy%203%3A16&version=NLT (2 Timothy 3:16) All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. As you ponder this nugget of wisdom for yourself, please encourage your friends and family to join us and come along tomorrow for another day of ‘Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.'
