At 19, while playing professional hockey in Canada, Ryan Phillips was introduced to the beginning of the B.C marijuana boom, and that perked his interest because of the large sums of wealth that could be accumulated in a short time. Hockey fell to the wayside and Ryan took his networking skills and used them by forming a smuggling ring that generated millions of dollars a year. His luck ran out after losing many associates to murder and substance abuse, he landed himself in a Federal Detention Center for over 500 days. The charge was conspiracy to import 103 pounds of the banned plant. Ryan learned a lot while incarcerated, most importantly how important our freedom is. Now a three time Ted talk speaker, film maker and recognized humanitarian, Ryan shares with us his story of the darker side of professional hockey, drug smuggling, criminal lifestyle and ultimately redemption and personal growth. Tamika Williford is the Founder of “Clothed N Strength,” a Nonprofit for women in transition. She has been in Cosmetology for more than 30 years, where she connects with many Women. Tamika is a New Life Bible school graduate where she studied Missionary & Evangelistic Training and is currently a Lancaster Bible College student pursuing a BA in Biblical Studies. Clothed N Strength has been her vision since she left the Federal Detention Center in 2011. Tamika promised God that one day if it were His will, she would be in a position to help the women in prison. She met countless women from different backgrounds with different stories, all leading them to incarceration. Tamika heard the despair, the sadness, the regret, and the hopelessness they felt. In many cases, their Families gave up on them; they had no resources to climb out of the hole they were in behind bars and now found themselves free and alone. These women had lost their children, their homes, their careers, their jobs, and their hope, But God had a plan! Clothed N Strength, with God's guidance, will return the HOPE and CONFIDENCE that His plan for them is real. They will learn that they have the choice not to return to prison. They need Resources. Empathy. Help. Tamika is there to help!!! https://clothednstrength.org/*Theme Music “Blessed Time” by Ketsa

"So basically you're taking, an intangible thought. From the ether that comes through, say an idea or a feeling that ignites you into. And within that action with every action, there's a reaction and 2012 I put it out, say like a rocket of desire and wrote it on a card, probably two years previous because I was banned from the United States." Ryan John Phillips was born in North Vancouver B.C on July 8th 1975. From the time he was 2, Ryan was on skates with a hockey stick in his hands. The dream of becoming an N.H.L superstar was imbedded into his mind from almost infancy. He played the game he loved and eventually left home at the age of 16 to pursue his dream in the Junior ranks of Canada. (The gateway to the N.H.L.) Unfortunately Ryan endured many serious injuries and off ice inner battles that hindered his growth and attitude. The game he once loved became more of a nightmare. He played parts of 5 years in the semi pro leagues in the United States, after a tumultuous junior career. At 19 he was introduced to the beginning of the B.C marijuana boom, and that perked his interest because of the large sums of wealth that could be accumulated in a short time. It took a few more years of hard earned experience before Ryan left the underworld that takes no prisoners. He decided in his own mind that everything that he thought he wanted in life, primarily money started to take on a different meaning. He began to see the spiritual side of life on earth and made the decision that he wanted true happiness. It didn't take long before he realized that this is a constant inside job that we can control with our thoughts. Steve Alm is a former Judge, Prosecutor, and United States Attorney.Born in Honolulu and raised in Manoa and Kaimuki, Mr. Alm joined the Honolulu Prosecutor's office in 1985, where he served as Director of the District and Family Court Division. In 2001, Mr. Alm became the first career prosecutor to be appointed to the First Circuit Court in Honolulu.A-1 Nick asks Judge Alm:What is the future of HOPE probation in the state of Hawaii? Are there any changes to the program, or points of improvement, you'd like to discuss for future iterations?-Judge Alm pitches "pre-trial HOPE" a way for defendants that most likely can't qualify for cash bail, bail bond, or release on their own recognizance (OR) or supervised release (SR). May I know your position on a new jail to replace OCCC?-Judge Alm pitches buying the Federal Detention Center and converting it into Honolulu's newest jail since its close to the court, away from housing developments, and several times cheaper than building a brand new jail at a projected cost of $500M+One of A-1 Nick's most popular videos on Stolen Stuff Hawaii, a facebook community dedicated to public safety, has to do with a potential new bill which would change the chief of police position from appointed to elected. What's your stance on that choice?-Judge Alm does not believe the police chief should also be a politician. This question is for my friends in law enforcement. Law enforcement officers sometimes get frustrated with the additional pressure put on their agencies to serve an info charging or grand jury warrant that comes out weeks or months after a defendant is released pending investigation. Do you plan on engineering any changes, so that upon arrest, defendants are charged promptly, and RPI'd less frequently?-Judge Alm wants to improve the charging process, so less defendants are charged after being "reeased pending investigation."All the candidates have been very civil during the debates, however, because I've watched all of them, as well as most of the interviews each candidate has given, I can "read between the lines" and decode digs on each other. Two candidates have asserted that you're "out of touch" with the job of city -prosecutor. How do you respond to being called "out of touch?"-Judge Alm counters this sentiment. What is the "weed and seed" program, and how do you think a new iteration of that program would improve public safety?-Judge Alm explains what the program is, and how it can be implemented in China town to reduce crime. One of the most controversial situations during this current pandemic, is the emergency release of inmates. Pandemics are not BLACK SWAN events, they have happened and will continue to happen in the future. Given this reality, what best practices would you advocate for to improve the treatment of inmates during a pandemic?-Judge Alm talks about case by case reviews for releases, building new structures for social distancing, gives props to the department of public safety which 100+ days into the pandemic, still has not had a single inmate test positive for cover-19.A master manipulator abusing their power as a prosecutor is also not a BLACK SWAN event. What guardrails do you believe can be implemented, so that another Kathy Kealoha doesn't abuse his or her prosecutorial power?-Mentoring prosecutors and repremanding prosecutors for wrongful acts early is key to running a successful office that maintains the public's trust. Berger v. US is the case which explains the role of the prosecutor and how to prosecute with ethics and integrity.

Takashi Ohno is a Hawaii State Representative serving the Nuuanu, Liliha, Alewa Heights district (Pali area). He currently serves on the public safety committee and was vocal in his opposition to the emergency releases of inmates housed at OCCC due to Covid-19. He has a bill ready for introduction next session to ELECT the chief of police. Currently, the chief of police is appointed by the Police Commission. Emergency Releases:As of the recording of the podcast, 6/26/20, there were zero active cases of covid-19 in any of jails or prisons locally both on the state and federal level. Because of this fact, the emergency releases, which were founded on an "emergency humanitarian" basis, seem unjustified. 500+ inmates were released, and within 30 days, 57 re-arrests were confirmed. One of the re-arrests, was A-1 Nick's neighbor, whom A-1 has been a client of for 20+ years. The elderly business professional was beaten up with a golf club by an emergency releasee. This defendant had been denied supervised release, due to dangerousness to the community. He was released anyway due to the emergency humanitarian release motion filed by the public defenders office. He missed court, was picked up on the bench warrant, and now is awaiting sentencing in custody. This is just one story of a re-arrest. Another alarming aspects of the emergency releases was the inability of the court to reconcile how homeless releasees would be able to also follow the governor's "stay at home" order to reduce the spread of covid-19 upon release. Unfortunately, no party took up the responsibility of finding shelters, in-patience drug treatment beds, half way homes, or a check in program via phone or "live" check ins through the Oahu intake service center. These solutions were not implemented.Mr. Ohno addresses the pros and cons of Special Master Foley's involvement in mediating the process for emergency releases. A huge CON A-1 Nick points out, is that Special Master Foley refused the responsibility of granting a release or denying a release. He foisted the responsibility back onto the jury trial judges, after making recommendations on a case by case basis.Mr. Ohno discusses buying the current Federal Detention Center then converting it to a state jail.Transparency has been a huge movement in reference to police discipline records. Mr. Ohno and A-1 Nick discuss HB 285 which plans to make public the names of officers suspended or fired due to police misconduct. Before elected office, Takashi was a public school teacher that decided that an educator's voice was needed at the Legislature.About TakashiMr. Ohno, has wholeheartedly jumped into the work to improve his community and state. From overseeing audits of the DOE to rewarding our best teachers, he has been a strong voice for education. Takashi has worked to reform government and passed legislation to better keep our politicians accountable.Takashi developed an interest in government growing up because of his dad's nightly habit of watching the NewsHour with Jim Lehr. Takashi admired his teachers in school and aspired to become one himself. He studied education at Linfield College and eventually became a public school teacher himself in Honolulu. The spark that led him to elected office happened during the infamous “Furlough Fridays” debacle. Takashi followed the debate at the state capitol intently, and the more he learned, the more he grew frustrated, and the more he became involved. Takashi successfully ran for office against a long term incumbent and was elected to the Hawaii State House of Representatives in 2012. Takashi initially served as the Vice Chair of the Committee on Education championing greater investment in schools and modernizing
Michael D. Huggins, MBA (Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania) worked his way up to the roles of Chief Operating Officer, President, and Chief Executive Officer of several medical device firms. But in 2009, Mike pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor as a responsible corporate officer for illegal activity, of which he was unaware, that occurred under his watch. He and three other executives were sentenced to prison. The high-profile case drew national media attention and Mike’s world unraveled in the blink of an eye as he was whisked to the Federal Detention Center in Philadelphia. How did Mike get through prison? The yoga he had practiced and taught years before incarceration turned out to be his salvation behind bars. Upon his release from prison, Mike declined lucrative offers to return to the corporate world, and instead founded the non-profit organizationTransformation Yoga Project, which serves people impacted by trauma, substance abuse and incarceration through trauma-sensitive yoga programs. False Allegations. Good morning. Ladies and gentlemen. My name is Mr. Bullock. And I will be discussing my reports of false allegations on R. and Antonio Brown. I would like to propose a comment. The comment question of how any court hearing concerning rape could of took a different route? And this different route is false allegations. The law enforcement can believe that the accuser is claiming false allegations of rape. False allegations also may occur if an individual doesn't have enough or sufficient amount of proof or evidence. For me to further understand the meaning of false allegations I researched false allegations online doing a Wikipedia research. False allegations of rape can be from false memories or lies. One description of false memories is Recovery Memory Therapy. Recovery memory therapy is something like hypnosis or guided imagery or the use of sedative hypnotic drugs that will cause false allegations of rape from the individual Accuser. Another form of false allegations are lies. Lies of the rape can be about: 1. Material gain, 2. Producing an alibi, 3. Revenge, 4. Attention, 5. Sympathy or 6. Any Disturbed Mental State. 1. Material gain can be for; to receive money, professional promotion, or other material benefits. 2. Producing an alibi can be for; to cover-up other behavior. 3. Revenge can be for; to retaliate against a disliked person by damaging their reputation, freedom or finances. 4. Attention can be for an attempt to receive any sort of attention, positive or negative, by anyone. 5. Sympathy can be for a special kind of attention-seeking when the complainant tries to improve a personal relationship with a specific individual. 6. Disturbed mental state can be about false memories, sexual hallucinations or pathological lying. In my opinion I believe that the law enforcement might believe that anyone can claim False Allegations from either false memories or the different reasons for their lies. I read the definition of rape from the Merriam-Webster Dictionary. The definition of rape is any unlawful sexual activity usually sexual intercourse carried out forcibly or under threat of injury against a person's will or with a person who is beneath a certain age or incapable of consent because of their mental illness, mental deficiency, intoxication, unconsciousness, or deception. I would like to comment with another question. The question is could these so-called victims be making false allegations on the singer R. Kelly? Since we haven't heard much evidence of these crimes charged on R. Kelly. Also. He appears to be innocent to me. Why would he deny himself of doing these crimes so emotionally and that televised interview. He acted just like he isn't guilty of the crimes. He isn't acting nervous. Either. I think the court hearings are false allegations. Why don't they give him a lie detector test? These victims need to come up with more and enough sufficient amount of evidence. Also. I read an article in U.S. Today stating that R. Kelly has been locked up in a Federal Detention Center in Chicago since July. He was indicted on two sets of federal crimes, including child pronography, sex trafficking and obstruction of justice, in Illinois and New York. He was a no-show in a Minneapolis court hearing concerning child prostitution charges. But federal prosecutors in Chicago declined to make him available. But a judge still issued a bench warrant for his arrest. The next Hearing in Kelly's case in Cook County was scheduled for December 4th, but Kelly is not required to be there. I want to comment with another question. Could these so-called victims be claiming false allegations and telling lies on the singer? Also. I read another article in the Chicago Times by Michael Sneed saying that R. Kelly's girlfriends will stay in Trump Tower and they wants to visit him in jail more. If he did these actions. Then why are they trying to see him? Also I read an article
