A native of Troy, NY, Lee Anne graduated from the International Culinary Center (ICC), formerly known as the French Culinary Institute, in NYC, and began her culinary training at Marcus Samuelsson's Aquavit before playing an integral role in the opening of Jean-Georges Vongerichten's Restaurant 66. She went on to work as the Executive Chef of Event Operations at ICC, during which time she was featured on Season One of Bravo's Flagship Series Top Chef, and subsequently was hired as the series' Supervising Culinary Producer for the next 6 seasons, helping to build the show into the powerhouse that it is today. Lee Anne has also appeared as a competitor on The Next Iron Chef, Chopped, and Tournament of Champions, as well as participated on Season 17 of Top Chef All Stars. In late 2013, Lee Anne moved from NYC to Honolulu where in 2014, she debuted Koko Head Cafe—an island style brunch house in the Kaimuki neighborhood—to popular acclaim, and was recognized on the cover of Honolulu Magazine, as well as in Bon Appétit and Food & Wine, among other publications. In August 2014, she released her first cookbook, Dumplings All Day Wong, and in 2016, she joined Hawaiian Airlines as a guest chef, and in 2018, she was named Executive Chef for the airline. Given the finnicky weather we've been having in the Midwest lately, we're glad to be living vicariously through our location today, Honolulu, Hawaii. According to our studies, if you ask the locals, it seems like everywhere you turn there is another haunted location, but we found one that brings it back to our roots of local lore and legend. Stories that are so spooky they start to blend reality with illusion. Stories stretched across decades, even centuries, but luckily not being lost to time. If you ask us this is a pretty good one, even if we're sometimes a mess. So buckle up. This week, it's paranormal stories from The Aloha State to True Crime in the wrestling world. First, Lauren explores the “Kasha House of Kaimuki” in Honolulu, Hawaii - one of the state's most well-known urban legends and considered one of the most haunted places on the island. The paranormal activity in this historic haunted home spans decades, dating all the way back to August 1942 in which the police were called to shoo a ghost (as the actual headline in a Hawaiian newspaper read). 30-years-later, Halloween 1972, another attack by the angry spirit, including on the police officer who responded to the call. But this is not your normal neighborhood ghost…listen to find out about the man-eating ghost creature from Japanese folklore that is believed to be behind this house of horrors!Next, Felicia tells us the tragic story of Bruiser Brody aka Frank Goodish, a professional wrestler from the ‘80s who was stabbed by another wrestler backstage before a match and later died. But was Bruiser Brody's killing a case of self defense? Or did someone take the rivalry too far outside of the ring…PS: If you have requests for future episodes or just want to hang out, follow us on Instagram @sinistersisterspodcast

Happy Spooky Wednesday! We've got a very special guest this week: Left of Skeptic Super Fan Gina! We start the episode with the third annual Kala's seeeester birthday request: haunted campsites. Kala talks about Lake Morena in San Diego, Big Moose Lake in the Adirondacks, Crystal Lake Campground in Los Angeles County, and Cameron Park in Waco. Each recreation area is haunted in different ways, but they all have tragic occurrences in their history that may be the cause of the hauntings. Pick your poison. Do you want the creepy, levitating figure of a man whose disembodied footsteps have been heard all around the property? Or do you want to experience phantom hands tugging at your clothes and hair? Or do you want to witness the misty figure of a devastated woman who was betrayed by an ex-lover? Your choice could determine the direction of your next road trip! And Brittany tells us all about Kasha House of Kaimuki, our first ever Hawaii location! Considered one of the most well known urban legends on the island, the house looks relatively normal, but looks can be deceiving. A Kasha, a man-eating ghost from Japanese folklore, is said to reside inside the home. Other theories behind the haunting include a ghoul who feeds on the dead, and a cat-like demon. All three versions have one thing in common: insatiable hunger for blood and corpses. So, that's pleasant. With such dark subject matter, do you think we've scared Gina away for good? Of course not! She's giving skeptic scale ratings right along with us! Thank you so much for joining us, Gina! Make sure to check out her recommendation for another great podcast to check out: The Night Owl Podcast out of Austin, TX! And Happy Birthday Seeeeeeeeeeester Sara! Have the best time camping! This episode officially has the longest title. Maybe that's fitting since we're almost at our one year anniversary for the podcast, or maybe that's a flimsy excuse and the editor is just too high to actually be editorial. (editors note: this is true)This episode the witches answer questions sent in by listeners about witchcraft, ghosts, and of course weed. No holds barred, the witches answer them all. Mauna Loa is erupting in Pele's land of Hawai'i and Laylla takes us to a haunted house in the Kaimuki neighborhood of Oahu. Is this haunting caused by an ancient Japanese demon? A poltergeist? Is it one house that is haunted or many?Chelle discovers a tradition of Christmas time ghost stories going back to Victorian times and reveals hints of this tradition are hidden in plain sight. Then she talks about Santa's dark twin, Krampus. Who is this mysterious figure and what is his place in Christmas folklore?
SCARED TO DEATH IS EXPLICIT IN EVERY WAY. PLEASE TAKE CARE WHILE LISTENING. Dan jumps off the episode with a giant, weird tale. It's something new and fun to talk about in the world of “what if?” WHAT IF you were being “haunted”… not by a ghost, but by someone living in the same space as you, but living in a different time? Like a parallel dimension that someone also intersects with this dimension historical timeline wise. Someone living in the past, but also, living at the same time you live in. It's a wild concept. The second story, much more traditionally scary, one of Hawaii's most haunted homes. The Kaimuki House. Lynze has some fun horror for us this week too!! A Veteran's Home may have more than just the Veteran's living there but who?! Then the most insane, but oh-so-probably true story of one mans alien abduction. New Merch: What if aliens visited us for the first thanksgiving in October 1621. And if they did, what if they never left? Head on over to check out the new "Alien Pilgrim" tee and poster. Check it out at badmagicmerch.comBad Magic Productions Monthly Patreon Donation:And now, it's time to announce our 4th annual Bad Magic Giving Tree! This is our chance to collectively give back to our own community! This is such a cool thing we get to do every year, it fills my heart with such joy! Like all of the previous years, we will be using the December Patreon donation to kick this off. We estimate that to be about $15k. If any fans would like to donate to the cause, as they have in years past, we are, again, only accepting Amazon gift cards, as that is the most effective way for us to shop. And just like the years past, Dan and I will be matching any and all donations y'all make up to $15K. If fully matched, we will have about $45K to work with. Every little bit helps, y'all. Just $5 or $10 adds up really quickly when we all chip in. If you can skip your weekly coffee to help out, I assure it, it really goes a long way. The average donation last year was about $50. If you would like to donate, go to amazon.com and purchase a gift card. When you fill out the box of whom to send this gift card to, simply enter the following email address: givingtree2022@badmagicproductions.com. That's the first part, the way you can help and give to your fellow creeps and peepers! The next part is for those of you who hav been asking how to be a recipient of the giving tree. This year, we are trying to really streamline the process. It's going to be really straight forward. Starting Monday November 21st at 12:00 noon PT, we will be accepting applications on our website, badmagicmerch.com. THIS WILL BE THE ONE AND ONLY WAY TO SUBMIT YOUR FAMILY.We have come to the conclusion, that can we help about 50 families this year. We always receive far more requests than that and it's a really awful process to pick names from a hat. It doesn't allow people the chance to seek out help in a different capacity if they are not chosen. This year, the first 50 families to apply will receive help. The submission form will be live on our website until we have 50 families or until November 26th, whichever comes first. You can rest assured that if you filled out and submitted the application that you are getting help. No more waiting and wondering. Once 50 families have applied, the application will not allow anyone to fill it out. With this being a new system, we are asking you to be patient. We will receive your application and then reach out to you. We will be shopping and sending out gifts from December 1st thru December 12th. We look forward to bringing our community together once again, to love and support one another. Standup: If you want to see a very different side of Dan than you see here and possibly see Lynze in the crowd, his Symphony of Insanity standup tour will be back this fall. Welcome to the Kaimuki house where a series of mysterious murders in the 1940s gives birth to a Kasha with an unquenchable thirst for dead bodies. Then, Marissa takes us on the crazy train to Georgia to say “what's up” to the Surrency family. Most of their belongings are up in the air but that won't stop them from making corn on the cob for hundreds of curious guests. Pull up a seat and watch out for flying brickbats and mystery biscuits.
If you've ever driven past the house that used to be on the corner of 8th Avenue and Harding in the Kaimuki neighborhood of Honolulu, you would look at it and think, that's a haunted house. It was old and dilapi..dilapa..um..buss up, with paint peeling like an old wound that never heal correctly, the yard was all hammajang with a tangle of uncut grass and overgrown bushes, no one was ever seen inside or outside the house. So it must be vacant, right? But then why was there a single lightbulb in an upstairs window which was left on 24/7, like an eye that watched you as you walked or drove past the house. And sometimes, on a dark moonless night, if you looked long enough, you would swear you saw a shadow move just beyond the light. Well Episode 1 recounts my experience with this house and the Demon of 8th Avenue.

Following their discussion of Hawaii's most haunted home, the Kasha House of Kaimuki, Hadley and Alyssa chat with Spider Man star Jacob Batalon, who grew up on Oahu. The co-hosts pick Jacob's brain about his own experiences with paranormal activity there, the local lore he remembers most from his childhood, and how growing up on the island influenced his relationship with spirituality. Plus, the trio chat about Jacob's leading role in the new Syfy series Reginald the Vampire, and the important message he hopes fans will take away from the show. Hadley and Alyssa discuss the Kasha House of Kaimuki in Honolulu where, for years, occupants have reported attacks by an “unseen” force. They dig into the long history and mysterious location of the home before reviewing two of the most common theories surrounding the source of these reported attacks: a shape-shifting creature of Japanese folkloric origins known as the Kasha, and the angry spirit of a corpse buried in the backyard. They also hear from a recent resident who experienced paranormal activity while living in the condos that replaced the original house after it was demolished. Later, Alyssa and Hadley are joined by Lopaka Kapanui, a native Hawaiian storyteller, tour guide, and medium, who shares his own experience with the Kasha, as well as stories from other haunted hot spots on Oahu.
