PlaySlots4RealMoney.com, CasinoSlotsMoney.com, Livedealerscasino.org, EasyMobileCasino.com & OnlineBlingo.com bring you the gambling news podcast. In our first story, the game we all loved and used to settle playground disputes is making its Vegas debut. The brand-new Rock, Paper, Scissors slot machine will be featured on the casino floor at the Circa Casino in Las Vegas. According to the casino representatives, Circa will be the only property in the world where the players will have a chance to test the new game. The game itself was created by the Japanese-based gaming manufacturer, Azure Gaming, and developed for their Muso Curve 55HB slot cabinet. Rock, Paper, Scissors was first unveiled on the final day of the recent Global Gaming Expo, held in Las Vegas, and has already attracted plenty of attention in the industry, promising to be a big success at Circa. Next up, Las Vegas is known for many things, but the Christmas celebration is certainly not one of them. However, that's likely about to change as Resorts World Las Vegas is looking to become the first establishment to offer some clean, family fun during the upcoming holiday season. The casino located on the North Strip will prepare an 85,000-square-foot outdoor Christmas spectacular in an effort to find a way to stand out among other top-tier properties in town. The celebration will last from November 25 to January 1 and will include plenty of fun and exciting events. Among other things, Resorts World's Christmas Village will feature ice skating, interactive games, live entertainment, special drinks and treats, holiday shopping, and, of course, Santa and Mrs. Claus. In our next story, the race for downstate New York casino licenses is heating up, and Coney Island is the latest potential landing spot to emerge. The seaside town is already known for its entertainment offerings, and a prominent real estate developer is looking to add a casino to the list of what this Brooklyn neighborhood has to offer to its visitors. The New York-based real estate development, leasing, and management firm, Thor Equities, is reportedly preparing a pitch as it looks to land one of the three coveted downstate gaming concessions. The company already owns some major properties in the area, including the retail shopping district adjacent to the Cyclone roller coaster. However, the firm is likely to face some stiff competition, including the Mets' owner Steve Cohen. In our last story this week, illegal gambling establishments have been an issue in Ohio for a while now, but the state seems intent to crack down on these operations. The latest news from Highland County certainly signals the state's determination to deal with this issue.Last week, agents with the Ohio Casino Control Commission served search warrants on five businesses located in Hillsboro and Greenfield. This comes as a part of an investigation into illegal gambling activities in this area. During the execution of search warrants, the OCCC gaming agents, with the support of the local police departments, seized more than 300 gambling machines, along with cash and documents. At the moment, no arrests have been made, but the investigation is still in progress.

On this episode I chatted with Rico Smith founder of 46th State Candle Company. Rico is born and raised in OKC. He developed a love of politics from a young age and set his heart on that profession, to make a change in the world. Rico studied at OCCC before transferring into OU. Graduated with a Political Science degree and then packed his bags for GW in Washington. Rico developed his interest in candles after needing to make his apartment his own. He had his Oklahoma set work hung on the walls but nothing really smelled like home. So in his spare time he developed fragrances, researched towns, festivals and all the great things that make the small towns in Oklahoma so great. Like to Watermelons in Rush Springs. "Watermelon capitol of the world!" After a few more years of work and studying Rico decided to return to Oklahoma and launch 46th State Candle Company on statehood day in 2019. Many veterinary professionals are beginning to plan for their 2021 Continuing Education requirements. Many of us have questions and concerns about coronavirus and conferences. Is it safe? How are the facilities disinfecting? Are masks required? How full will the lecture rooms and exhibit halls be? Will food be served? This week, we have an exclusive conversation with NAVC CEO Gene O’Neill and the Executive Director for the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) Mark Tester to answer these questions and more. … Host Dr. Ernie Ward is flying solo this week as co-host Beckie Mossor, RVT is on vacation - and on the mend after injuring her knee - this week. … Dr. Ernie and his guests go deep on the cleaning protocols of the OCCC and VMX 2021, how VMX has created new policies regarding attendance, room capacity, and movement in the OCCC. Needless, to say, the 2021 VMX will look very different from previous conferences. The Hawaii Supreme Court has granted early release for some OCCC inmates as COVID-19 cases surge. Plus, Honolulu firefighters are monitoring hotspots on Oahu.
Steve Alm is a former Judge, Prosecutor, and United States Attorney.Born in Honolulu and raised in Manoa and Kaimuki, Mr. Alm joined the Honolulu Prosecutor's office in 1985, where he served as Director of the District and Family Court Division. In 2001, Mr. Alm became the first career prosecutor to be appointed to the First Circuit Court in Honolulu.A-1 Nick asks Judge Alm:What is the future of HOPE probation in the state of Hawaii? Are there any changes to the program, or points of improvement, you'd like to discuss for future iterations?-Judge Alm pitches "pre-trial HOPE" a way for defendants that most likely can't qualify for cash bail, bail bond, or release on their own recognizance (OR) or supervised release (SR). May I know your position on a new jail to replace OCCC?-Judge Alm pitches buying the Federal Detention Center and converting it into Honolulu's newest jail since its close to the court, away from housing developments, and several times cheaper than building a brand new jail at a projected cost of $500M+One of A-1 Nick's most popular videos on Stolen Stuff Hawaii, a facebook community dedicated to public safety, has to do with a potential new bill which would change the chief of police position from appointed to elected. What's your stance on that choice?-Judge Alm does not believe the police chief should also be a politician. This question is for my friends in law enforcement. Law enforcement officers sometimes get frustrated with the additional pressure put on their agencies to serve an info charging or grand jury warrant that comes out weeks or months after a defendant is released pending investigation. Do you plan on engineering any changes, so that upon arrest, defendants are charged promptly, and RPI'd less frequently?-Judge Alm wants to improve the charging process, so less defendants are charged after being "reeased pending investigation."All the candidates have been very civil during the debates, however, because I've watched all of them, as well as most of the interviews each candidate has given, I can "read between the lines" and decode digs on each other. Two candidates have asserted that you're "out of touch" with the job of city -prosecutor. How do you respond to being called "out of touch?"-Judge Alm counters this sentiment. What is the "weed and seed" program, and how do you think a new iteration of that program would improve public safety?-Judge Alm explains what the program is, and how it can be implemented in China town to reduce crime. One of the most controversial situations during this current pandemic, is the emergency release of inmates. Pandemics are not BLACK SWAN events, they have happened and will continue to happen in the future. Given this reality, what best practices would you advocate for to improve the treatment of inmates during a pandemic?-Judge Alm talks about case by case reviews for releases, building new structures for social distancing, gives props to the department of public safety which 100+ days into the pandemic, still has not had a single inmate test positive for cover-19.A master manipulator abusing their power as a prosecutor is also not a BLACK SWAN event. What guardrails do you believe can be implemented, so that another Kathy Kealoha doesn't abuse his or her prosecutorial power?-Mentoring prosecutors and repremanding prosecutors for wrongful acts early is key to running a successful office that maintains the public's trust. Berger v. US is the case which explains the role of the prosecutor and how to prosecute with ethics and integrity.
Takashi Ohno is a Hawaii State Representative serving the Nuuanu, Liliha, Alewa Heights district (Pali area). He currently serves on the public safety committee and was vocal in his opposition to the emergency releases of inmates housed at OCCC due to Covid-19. He has a bill ready for introduction next session to ELECT the chief of police. Currently, the chief of police is appointed by the Police Commission. Emergency Releases:As of the recording of the podcast, 6/26/20, there were zero active cases of covid-19 in any of jails or prisons locally both on the state and federal level. Because of this fact, the emergency releases, which were founded on an "emergency humanitarian" basis, seem unjustified. 500+ inmates were released, and within 30 days, 57 re-arrests were confirmed. One of the re-arrests, was A-1 Nick's neighbor, whom A-1 has been a client of for 20+ years. The elderly business professional was beaten up with a golf club by an emergency releasee. This defendant had been denied supervised release, due to dangerousness to the community. He was released anyway due to the emergency humanitarian release motion filed by the public defenders office. He missed court, was picked up on the bench warrant, and now is awaiting sentencing in custody. This is just one story of a re-arrest. Another alarming aspects of the emergency releases was the inability of the court to reconcile how homeless releasees would be able to also follow the governor's "stay at home" order to reduce the spread of covid-19 upon release. Unfortunately, no party took up the responsibility of finding shelters, in-patience drug treatment beds, half way homes, or a check in program via phone or "live" check ins through the Oahu intake service center. These solutions were not implemented.Mr. Ohno addresses the pros and cons of Special Master Foley's involvement in mediating the process for emergency releases. A huge CON A-1 Nick points out, is that Special Master Foley refused the responsibility of granting a release or denying a release. He foisted the responsibility back onto the jury trial judges, after making recommendations on a case by case basis.Mr. Ohno discusses buying the current Federal Detention Center then converting it to a state jail.Transparency has been a huge movement in reference to police discipline records. Mr. Ohno and A-1 Nick discuss HB 285 which plans to make public the names of officers suspended or fired due to police misconduct. Before elected office, Takashi was a public school teacher that decided that an educator's voice was needed at the Legislature.About TakashiMr. Ohno, has wholeheartedly jumped into the work to improve his community and state. From overseeing audits of the DOE to rewarding our best teachers, he has been a strong voice for education. Takashi has worked to reform government and passed legislation to better keep our politicians accountable.Takashi developed an interest in government growing up because of his dad's nightly habit of watching the NewsHour with Jim Lehr. Takashi admired his teachers in school and aspired to become one himself. He studied education at Linfield College and eventually became a public school teacher himself in Honolulu. The spark that led him to elected office happened during the infamous “Furlough Fridays” debacle. Takashi followed the debate at the state capitol intently, and the more he learned, the more he grew frustrated, and the more he became involved. Takashi successfully ran for office against a long term incumbent and was elected to the Hawaii State House of Representatives in 2012. Takashi initially served as the Vice Chair of the Committee on Education championing greater investment in schools and modernizing

A basic definition for Restorative Justice is as follows: a system of criminal justice that focuses on the rehabilitation of offenders through reconciliation with victims and the community at large. This definition, however, as logical and straightforward as it is doesn't speak to the kind of justice that is employed as standard practice across the globe, and this includes the United States. Experiencing the justice system, especially for indigenous peoples and (those we too easily label) minorities, is one that is not only inequitable but can have far-reaching, intergenerational effects that delay and even halt forward movement towards holistic, intergenerational, community-wide health and wellness. To discuss how this topic is playing out in Hawaiʻi and the Pacific, And Still the Waters Rise, episode 31, features Hawaiʻi litigator, Sonny Ganaden. His essay Law of the Canoe: Reckoning Colonialism and Criminal Justice in the Pacific is slated to be published in 2019 along with other authors in a volume entitled DeTours: A Decolonial Guidebook to Hawaiʻi by Duke University Press (2019). As the show is intended to be a starting point, the conversation is by no means a comprehensive review of this globally relevant topic. However, it is a doorway through which you can find interesting threads to follow on your own as well as a means to better understand how one version of inequitable (or colonial) justice is playing out in the Pacific today. With that said, the hot topic issue that needs immediate action is the industrialized incarceration that is coming to Hawaiʻi in the form of a private prison. This prison, set to replace the current OCCC is far more than a newly designed structure. After listening to the show, ASTWR hopes you will choose to act now! This podcast features a series of three recent interviews, and opens with a recommendation to try the newly updated Anchor.fm website and Anchor mobile app for podcast creation and publishing. The first interview is with high school senior Sarah Fryer, who shares her experiences and lessons learned taking concurrent classes from the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) and the Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) as a student in Oklahoma City Public Schools (OKCPS). Sarah took two classes from UCO in fall 2017, including one online course and one face-to-face course at the UCO campus in downtown Oklahoma City. This spring Sarah is taking two concurrent classes from OCCC, again one online and another face-to-face. The second interview is with Eric Ebert (@biggestmeow), the high school computer science teacher at Casady School. Eric shares a little about the growth of the computer science program at Casady, and how he has been using GitHub and GitHub classroom to help his students manage their coding projects. Eric also shared how he's used audio podcasts created with Garageband and SoundCloud to encourage student reflection during and at the conclusion of coding projects. The third interview is with Shelly Fryer (@sfryer), a 3rd grade teacher at Casady School who has been integrating coding into her language arts lessons and Maker Studio time using the iPad app PBSkids Scratch Junior. Shelly taught an after-school class for 3rd and 4th graders in fall 2017 on coding with PBSkids Scratch Junior, teaching students how to create animations, tell stories, and create simple games. In spring 2018, Shelly has taught the same after-school class on PBSkids Scratch Junior for first and second graders. She has also co-led an after-school coding class using Scratch software for third and fourth graders. She shares stories and lessons learned from these coding classes, and also highlights her recent experiences at a Code.org workshop in San Antonio as one of three coding Ambassadors from Oklahoma.
