What a great breakdown this was as we talked about 5 tournaments in golf. The main focus was the Fedex St Jude Classic from Memphis, Tenessee. Justin Thomas took a huge three shot victory at 13 under to reclaim the world number 1 that he held back in 2018. He shot a beautiful 65 on Sunday to pull out the huge win. Brooks Koepka had a great opportunity to win just one shot back but hit it into the water on 18 and carded a double bogey. Phil Mickelson, Daniel Berger and Tom Lewis all tied Koepka for second place at 10 under par. Lewis shot 61 66 on the weekend to race up the leaderboard. Brooks goes into this week as the two time defending champion of the PGA Championship which will be held starting Thursday at Harding Park in San Francisco.   We also discussed the Barracuda championship and the first victory on the PGA tour for Richie Werenski. This tournament features some emerging talent and is the fifth consecutive year that a player has won his first tournament here. They use the modified stableford scoring system that rewards aggressive play and is fun to watch.   We then spoke briefly about the Champions tour and the Ally Challenge from Grand Blanc, Michigan. This was the debut for Jim Furyk in the Champions 50 and over tour and he had a two shot victory! He edged out Retief Goosen and Brett Quigley. Canadian Mike Weir also made his Champions tour debut and played solid and tied for 27th.   We then talked about the LPGA tour and the victory for Danielle Kang and her rise to #2 in the womens world ranking. This is the best ranking for an American woman in some time. Her partner in life is Maverick McNealy who finished a very respectable 7th at the Barracuda Championship. He has been having a lot of great results this year and really looked great heading into the final round. What a golfing power couple!   We spent a bit of time looking at the odds for the upcoming PGA Championship major. We will have a full preview on Wednesday so keep your eye out for that one! Todd asked the Tour players which do they fear the most, the fairway bunkers or the rough. Todd also points out that 6 of the 8 winners at Oakmont are in the World Golf Hall of Fame and big name players win at Oakmont.  On that note, Holly asks about Phil Mickelson's chances. Todd said that Phil can't get too excited and put too much pressure on himself because he is playing so well. That was his problem in 2013. Holly asks Todd about the Big 3's chances of winning this major. Jason Day, Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy.  Todd spoke with Dustin Johnson on the practice range and he feels that Dustin is playing well with every club in his bag. DJ put a 2 iron in his bag and will probably back off the driver this week. Todd says DJ can hit the 2 iron 260 yards in the air. Holly and Todd talk about the international players chances. Todd mentions past champion Martin Kaymer, and little known Matthew Fitzpatrick who has won twice on the European Tour twice. He finished tied for 7th at the Masters this year.  Jeff Babineau, Golfweek, calls in from the media center at Oakmont. Holly and Jeff talk about having the U.S. Open at such an historic place as Oakmont. There are no trees or water at Oakmont.  Will asks Jeff about Adam Scott who has won twice this season already. Jeff said that when you talk about the success of the Big Three, you tend to leave out great players with a chance like Scott, Snedeker, Mickelson, Bubba Watson, etc. Golfweek has a lot of coverage of the U.S. Open this week.  Brooke Anderson beat Lydia Ko to capture her first major last week. Bernhard Langer won another major on the Champions Tour as well as Daniel Berger win at the FedEx St Jude Classic on the PGA Tour. Mike Kern, Philadelphia Daily News, calls in to talk to Will and Holly about the U.S. Open. Players say that this is going to be the toughest test this year. Winged Foot, Oakmont and Olympic are three of the toughest courses.  Holly G asked Mike about Jim Furyk's chances. Mike also points out that McIlroy, Day and Spieth have done at the past seven majors is phenomenal.  Mike mentions that it is supposed to rain on Thursday, which is going to have an impact on the tournament that is already a formidable task to win. Steve Eubanks, Global Golf Post, wraps up the show talking about the KPMG Women's PGA Championship won by Brooke Henderson beating Lydia Ko an d preventing Ariya Jutanugarn from winning her fourth consecutive tournament. Holly asks Steve about the U.S. Open. Steve feels that over par will be the winning score this week. He likes Jason Day's chances of winning.

Todd feels that we need to let the facts play out and see what actually happened.  Todd says that Memphis might be the 3rd most difficult course on the PGA Tour so he doesn't foresee any birdie barrages. Jeff adds that the FedEx seems to be a nice extra "at bat" for some guys prior to the U.S. Open. Jeff also talks about Dustin Johnson's choice to the play his fifth consecutive tourney before the U.S. Open. Steve Eubanks, Global Golf Post, is the first digital golf magazine calls in and talks about heading to the Curtis Cup before making his trip to North Carolina for both the men's and women's U.S. Opens. Bob Harig, ESPN.com, calls in to talk to the team about the U.S. Open and all the story lines around it. Bob feels that Olympic doesn't usually bode well for the star players or the favorite. He wouldn't be surprised if that didn't continue with someone off the radar winning the year's second major. Players will start on Hole 1 and Hole 9 because it is closer to the clubhouse. Holly and Rich talk about Tuck and O'Neil's upcoming Monday after the Majors event at Shingle Creek Open. www.espnflorida.com Todd Lewis, The Golf Channel, calls in from Olympic and talks about the beauty of the area surrounding Olympic. Also about the 14-year-old boy from China, Andy Zhang, who qualified as an alternate for the U.S. Open. Then he got the call Tuesday from the USGA and accepted the invitation to play in the tournament.  Also, Dennis Miller from Youngstown, Ohio finally made the cut for the U.S. Open after 12 tries. He made it in a playoff after his ball hung on the lip of the cup and finally fell in.  Todd also talks about Casey Martin being able to play and ride a cart due to his circulatory problem in his leg. Also, a lot of other stories at Olympic. Jeff Babineau, Editor Golfweek, calls in to talk to Holly and Rich from the U.S. Open.  Jeff talks about some of the "other" notable golfers and their chances at the Open. Jeff feels that players need a lot of heart to play the course because of its difficulties. If they miss a shot or two, not to let it get them down. The trio talks about Phil Mickelson's chances and the fact that he is a U.S. Open five-time runner up there needs to win one to complete his resume'.
