The NBA decided not to wait. Before the 2026 draft even got underway, the league flipped on its head — and Rob Jenners, Robert Horry, and B-Dog are here to make sense of all of it on Episode 265 of the Big Shot Bob Podcast.   The big story: Giannis Antetokounmpo is headed to the Miami Heat. The guys break down the full package Milwaukee got back — Tyler Herro, Kyle Lowry, Jaime Jaquez Jr., three first-round picks including the 13th overall, and more — and debate whether Miami actually pulled off a heist or just handed Pat Riley a roster puzzle he has to solve before training camp. Seven-time champion Robert Horry has thoughts on all of it, including the part where the Heat now need to figure out a bench situation in a hurry.   Then there's Jaylen Brown. He was reportedly part of Boston's pitch to Milwaukee, and now that Giannis ended up somewhere else, what exactly do the Celtics have on their hands? The guys dig into whether that relationship can be repaired, whether JB's Twitch stream has become his de facto press conference, and what three years left on a big contract actually means when a player wants out.   Minnesota gets its own segment — and not in a good way. Julius Randle is gone to Brooklyn, Ant Man's frustration has been an open secret for a while, and the Timberwolves are burning through roster pieces faster than they're building anything. The guys ask the obvious question: what are you actually doing over there?   From there it's draft night preview mode — the consensus top four, what the Clippers might do at five, and Rob's take on what Atlanta should be targeting at pick eight. Plus Dusty Mays leaving Michigan (off a national title, no less) to take the Dallas head coaching job, Trae Young locking up a four-year deal in Washington, and what a healthy Trae-plus-AD situation could realistically mean for the Wizards.   The Knicks parade happened, and Rob has been to seven of these things. He ranks them. The crew also gives a well-deserved Big Shot of the Week to Simone Kelly, the off-duty EMT who revived an overdose victim during the celebration — and then had to fend off the guy she just saved.   They close it out with Shot Clock — Rob can't name more than one beer, Harp rattles off 11 Knicks in 10 seconds, and somebody names Phoenix as a state. It's that kind of show.   Subscribe and hit the bell so you never miss an episode.   00:00 — Cold Open / Intro 00:30 — The NBA Is Moving Fast: Setting the Table 01:30 — Giannis to Miami: Breaking Down the Trade 03:00 — Was the Bucks' Haul Enough? 06:00 — Miami's Roster Gaps & Norman Powell's Decision 08:00 — Is Miami a Legitimate Championship Contender? 10:30 — Jaylen Brown & the Celtics Fallout 15:30 — Minnesota Trades Randle: Where Does This Leave the Wolves? 18:00 — Finding Out You've Been Traded (Robert Horry Stories) 22:00 — 2026 NBA Draft Preview: Top Picks & Top Picks 26:30 — Fan Question: Should Miami Call Chris Paul? 30:00 — Knicks Championship Parade Recap 31:00 — Robert Horry Ranks His Seven Championship Parades 34:00 — Trae Young Stays in Washington: Breaking Down the Deal 35:00 — What Can Trae + Anthony Davis Realistically Do in Washington? 38:00 — The Road Back to LA for Anthony Davis? 41:30 — Dusty Mays Leaves Michigan for Dallas Mavericks 44:30 — Hawks Moves: Aaron Wiggins & CJ McCollum Extension 50:30 — Big Shot of the Week: Simone Kelly 52:00 — Shot Clock Game

Todd Fergot joined to talk about the big role he was just awarded, becoming the executive director of the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association and some their priorities, like implementing a shot clock and expanding the state tournament. Fergot has been the boys basketball coach at Central High in La Crosse for 22 years and that’s not changing. But he now takes over this statewide organization that oversees both boys and girls basketball. We talk the WBCA’s big priorities, including the positives and negatives around implementing a 35-second shot clock, what it means to expand the state tournament and getting participation back up in girls basketball. Along with state tournament expansion, we also talked about the idea of playing at other venues, like Lambeau Field or the Brewers stadium. Fergot noted part of the deal to take on the WBCA role was to remain coach at Central and we discuss some of his legacy there, like getting to state six times, winning and losing titles and coaching players like Johnny Davis, who was taken No. 10 in the NBA draft.

Teachhoops.com https://teachhoops.com/ With the widespread adoption of the 35-second shot clock in high school basketball reaching nearly every state by 2026, the traditional "stall" tactics used during blowouts are quickly becoming a thing of the past. For the winning team, the shot clock prevents you from simply "taking the air out of the ball," forcing your bench players and reserves to actually run an offense and execute under pressure. This shift is a massive win for player development; instead of mindless passing to kill time, young athletes are forced to make reads and take quality shots within a structured timeframe. For coaches, this means the focus moves from simply managing the scoreboard to maintaining the integrity of the game and ensuring every possession serves as a high-level teaching moment. WintheSeason.com CoachingYouthHoops.com https://forms.gle/kQ8zyxgfqwUA3ChU7 Coach Collins Coaching Store Check out.  [Teachhoops.com](https://teachhoops.com/) 14 day Free Trial Youth Basketball Coaches Podcast Apple link: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/coaching-youth-hoops/id1619185302 Spotify link: https://open.spotify.com/show/0g8yYhAfztndxT1FZ4OI3A Funnel Down Defense Podcast https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/funnel-down-defense/id1593734011 Want More Funnel Down Defense https://coachcollins.podia.com/funnel-down-defense [Facebook Group . We kick things off by breaking down the Knicks' biggest on-court concerns, focusing on roster construction, defense, and whether elite offense can truly outweigh defensive liabilities when the playoffs slow the game down. We debate the Brunson–Karl-Anthony Towns fit, Mike Brown's new system, and whether these are solvable issues or real limits on the Knicks' championship ceiling. From there, the conversation opens up to the league at large: • Why NBA scoring has exploded • What efficiency really means — and what fans often misunderstand • Why midrange shot-making still decides playoff games • How coaching, pace, and spacing have reshaped the modern NBA We also dive deep into player evaluation and development: • Cade Cunningham vs. Jalen Brunson — size, skill, defense, and playoff proof • What defines a true franchise player today • Kon Knueppel's ceiling and realistic NBA outcome • Cooper Flagg's projection beyond “generational” hype USE CODE COMBO ON PRIZEPICKS! The crew dives deep into the brilliance of FX's The Bear, with Skin passionately breaking down the show's emotional gut punches and its new “shot clock” narrative device.

We open the show this week with Rob’s stories about Bobbleheads that do NOT look like him, after his wife confused his bobblehead for Tony Parker, and how he often gets mistaken for Alonzo Mourning and Horace Grant when out in public at times. It takes us down a wild road about NBA bobbles and statues that don’t look anything like the guys they are modeled after, specifically the tribute to Shaq’s LA statue.   Rob gets into the D-Lo situation with the Lakers, and why JJ decided to bench him, and why he immediately started performing better coming off the bench. We also dive into the rumors that DeAngelo will be used to make a move for another big like Brooke Lopez, and Rob says that as long as AD is healthy he doesn’t think the Lakers need another big. And we try to figure out why AD continues to shy away from wearing goggles, after getting popped in the eye the other night.   Plus the Giannis versus Jaylen Brown saga this week was confusing to us, as Giannis said he doesn’t want to be anyone’s friend but then plays games with guys on the court and is somehow surprised that guys don’t find that cute. B-Dog also lays out the trade scenarios for Dame Lillard to go to the Lakers, which would be so lopsided it would be comical. And the Cavaliers are showing the league just how talented they are, from Donovan Mitchell, to Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen, they are deep and talented and play great defense… all leading to an impressive, unbeaten start to the season. Plus the conversation about Chet Holmgren’s injury leads into Victor Wembanyama – “the Skinny Committee” – and whether guys who don’t carry much weight can still be offensive dominators in the NBA.   There is SO much great audio this week, including a check-in on the Draymond Green technical counter, audio from the cockpit during the Auburn basketball team fight that forced the plane to turn around this weekend, the hilarious and amazing Michelle Beadle Nuggets flub, and Pat McAfee leading the wild LSU fans into cursing on live TV! And the audio of Saints coach Darren Rizzi saying he clogged the toilet in the coach’s office on his first day takes us into a conversation about clogging the toilet at other people’s homes. We also give out a Big Shot of the Week to a Texas firefighter who pulled a toddler out of the second story window of a burning building, and play a classic round of Shot Clock that, as always, ends in controversy.

After Rob’s trip to Atlanta last week, we go over the stuff that happened while he was on the road – and how surprised some of us were that Jamal Murray didn’t get suspended for his heat-pad toss. It’s also wild to see the Timberwolves playing with way less effort and enthusiasm with Rudy Gobert in the line-up, proving to Rob and B-Dog that he should not have been Defensive Player of the Year. We also take a quick look at Shaq’s feud with Shannon Sharpe after it got super personal, and how we love the Big Fella but he needs to have thicker skin. The Knicks and Pacers series has been officiated very poorly according to Rob, and he knew it would happen because the Knicks are worn out and the league is doing them a favor. And as all good teams do, the Celtics held the Cavs off and it looks like curtains for Cleveland. Will JJ Redick be the next Lakers coach? Rob says would retire from Spectrum if he was, and compares it (though B-Dog feels unfairly) to Steve Nash’s time as the Nets head coach. Rob says he would definitely take the gig if it were offered to him, but only if he could pick his coaching staff, because he feels like that makes all the difference. Ultimately Ty Lue is the big winner, because he’ll get caught in a bidding war between the Lakers and Clippers. Plus the Hawks win the draft lottery in a year where there is no high profile talent on the board, because that’s Atlanta, we have some amazing audio of the week from Luka’s postgame press conference (where is sounds like someone was watching something dirty), offer up an inspiring Big Shot of the Week, and play another fun round of Shot Clock!

John Dickinson goes live for Dubs postgame after the Warriors get a 128-121 win over the Lakers in Los Angeles. After missing the previous three games with a sprained ankle, Stephen Curry returned to action. Despite a scoreless first quarter, he caught fire and finished with 31 points on 12-24 shooting. Klay Thompson was sensational off the bench, scoring 26 on 9-15 shooting, while Jonathan Kuminga added 23 points of his own. On the Lakers' side, LeBron James was sensational as he finished with 40 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists. However, his co-star Anthony Davis had his night cut short and left the game after sufering a corneal abrasion in just 12 minutes of play. The Warriors will return home to face the New York Knicks on Monday at 7:00.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
