Bond also led the Bulldogs to one of the biggest victories in program history with a 6-3 victory over Paul "Bear" Bryant's Alabama Crimson Tide in 1980. Another incredible feat Bond accomplished was that his rushing total stood for a SEC record until the likes of Matt Jones (Arkansas), Tim Tebow (Florida), and Mississippi State's own Dak Prescott and Nick Fitzgerald broke his record.
