I love it when a plan doesn't come together, because it ends with us getting wine tipsy in a relaxed feel episode. This week there wasn't enough info to flesh out an entire episode so we instead talk about the history of wine and some recent scandals surrounding one of the oldest vices known to humanity.

We're going back to classic movies this week, and spending some time with John Ford. Continuing the warning of the disappointing vineyard, Isaiah explains the types of sour grapes which the vineyard has brought forth. He finds the fruit of greed, self-indulgence, wickedness, perversion, foolishness, and corruption. Such a harvest is ripe for judgment, thus there is offered here a word of woe to the grapes of wrath.
Sophia and Nick return for an historic episode to discuss the director with the most Oscar wins and the first to win consecutively: John Ford. Revered by many filmmakers throughout history and known for his Westerns, Ford blazed a trail that also showcased his Irish background, his actors- many of whom also won Oscars- and the fractured American Dream. They begin with a thorough history of his illustrious career before reviewing The Informer, the 1935 film for which he won his first Oscar. Even though he didn't win for Stagecoach four years later, he was successful the following year with The Grapes of Wrath (28:34). Steinbeck's classic novel created a perfect tapestry for his next directorial feat. Behind The Scenes Part 5: The Grapes of Wrath Bill Corley Original Air Date: 2024.10.20 When a movie is made, what we see on the “big screen” is the product of many working parts. There are producers, directors, writers, set designers, actors, camera people, sound people, the list goes on. In fact, have you noticed that the list of credits after a movie has hundreds of people involved? The point is they are all working together to hopefully produce a successful work. What is interesting is the amount of people and work that goes on behind the scenes - the people and things we never see but are vitally important to bringing about the finished work. Our own life, and world, is much like this... what we may not realize is that God is and always has been at work, “behind the scenes” so-to-speak, working through people of all types to fulfill His perfect plan and purpose for us, others and the world. This series, “Behind The Scenes” will focus on Old Testament people in history, the contrast of both good and bad, and how God worked through them. Kevin Kane and The Hooper Brothers Chris and Tommy have been an original Canadian band for over 40 years. The Grapes of Wrath. Same three guys. Still making music. This podcast is their first complete band interview in over 10 years. Like many, I had presumed that the guys had moved on to solo efforts or other bands or other dreams. When I saw that they were playing and selling out The Carleton in Halifax I started to dig and found – amazed – that they were in fact playing the Filberg Festival in Comox, Vancouver Island Aug 3. Also Edmonton, The Maritimes, Vernon and The Dream Café in Penticton. Bringing with them songs containing people's memories, whole lifetimes. Peace of Mind You may be right These days And the still brilliant… All the thing's I wasn't. Platinum records, multiple tours of Canada, the USA and Europe. In 1992 they went separate ways only to rediscover the power of their friendship and music in 2010 at a festival in Surrey, BC. The same three guys…Let's celebrate The Grapes of Wrath. Enjoy the stories and the music. Tour Dates: www.grapesofwrath.ca
Directed by John Ford and released in 1940, The Grapes of Wrath is a film based on the Steinbeck novel of the same name. Following a fictional Tom Joad and his family the movie follows their move from their home in Oklahoma to California in search for work. Drawn by flyers advertising jobs during the Dust Bowl and Great Depression the hope of a brighter future the flyers offer is too good to pass up. A film told through wonderful performances and rich and beautiful black and white photography, it shines brightly as a nod to a classic novel.
One day God will judge all those who have sworn allegiance to the beast. But the good news of the gospel provides the means of escape the wrath to come.

In our fifty-fifth episode, we recap John Steinbeck's 1939 Dust Bowl adventure, Biblical allegory, and socialist manifesto, The Grapes of Wrath. In our scrappy Tax Day episode, we get right down to it. We get into the anniversary of the publishing of "The Grapes of Wrath" and its significance on America and the American Left. We discuss how your tax dollars are subsidizing war profiteers like Lockheed Martin and keeping the war effort in Gaza going while paying for healthcare and public education in Israel. (Meanwhile America's masses are left to fend for themselves.) Scott also talks about a recent direct action at a Lockheed Martin facility in Sunnyvale, CA and the violence perpetrated by the company's employees when they were blocked from parking their cars in the company parking lot. We also discuss O.J. Simpson's legacy on race and politics in America, and NPR's "liberal bias" (and its discontents). All this and your weekly dose of radical history. -------------------------------------- Outro- "Hard to be Humble" by Mac Davis Follow Green and Red// +G&R Linktree: https://linktr.ee/greenandredpodcast +Our rad website: https://greenandredpodcast.org/ +We're part of the Labor Podcast Network: https://www.laborradionetwork.org/ + Join our Discord community (https://discord.gg/UuQVgNP5) Support the Green and Red Podcast// +Become a Patron at https://www.patreon.com/greenredpodcast +Or make a one time donation here: https://bit.ly/DonateGandR This is a Green and Red Podcast (@PodcastGreenRed) production. Hello there everyone! Welcome back to another episode of Trophy Talk! In this episode we're joined by Kevin Garaventa of the PS Plus Games Club to talk about all things trophies. We start off by tackling the recent discussion around Spiderman 2's NG+ trophy and the debug menu that was mistakenly left in the game post patch by Insomniac. Is it cheating to get a NG+ trophy in this way? What even is the point of these NG+ trophies that seem to be the standard from Sony? From there we once again talk distribution and the seeming lack of effort from many developers to even utilize anything other than Bronze trophies in their lists. After that we get into your Patreon submitted questions which touch on our jobs and any struggles with addiction. We close out the episode with what we've been playing, as well as a segment that analyzes a full year of using PS Plus Premium? Is the highest tier service on PS+ worth your time and money? The statistics may surprise you. Thanks so much for listening, and enjoy!
There is a future winepress of God's righteous wrath. Unrepentant, rebellious people are the GRAPES OF WRATH who will get exactly what they chose. A judgment is coming. Everybody wants "justice". Nobody wants justice of their own actions.God offers His Son to substitute Himself for you in this bloody winepress. He offers "The GOOD GRAPE"(Jesus) for the Grapes of Wrath. You can chose to follow Him by faith and have this wrath satisfied. You already ARE the BAD GRAPE. Without Christ, you remain a GRAPE OF WRATH. Listen for 7 minutes to avoid being trampled. bewithme.us

Rivka and Frank are joined by labor historian Harvey Kaye to discuss the classic 1940 film The Grapes of Wrath, and how today's climate crisis bears frightening parallels to the Great Depression's Dust Bowl, both man-made environmental and economic disasters. They also explore the film's portrayal of bankers and law enforcement, class consciousness and proletarian revolution, and how itremains one of America's most optimistic stories about the power of solidarity.
