Additionally, the hosts' ability to present complex ideas in an accessible manner is commendable. The excitement I felt renting this movie was quickly replaced by rage as I weathered its 1 hour and 56 minutes of monotone dialogue. The confused, underdeveloped characters appear to have been conjured as mere tools for condescension and finger wagging at anyone who places value on money as an element of a successful relationship. Despite being marketed as a romcom, this movie is in no way a romcom. Instead, it seems to fancy itself a chiding think piece on the stance that real love means a man's money, income, and savings doesn't matter. As the main character, Lucy, continually tells a man she's dating that he can do so much better...I found myself asking out loud several times how a woman wrote this. If you look at this movie from the broke character's perspective, it is indeed a feel good story. From anyone else's, it's a nightmare. A triple recap to get us up to speed in the OC. As layered conflicts between the women take us to New Orleans and back, we learn more about what the "deesgusting" story was that Katie relayed to journalist Kiki Monique and then vehemently denied. Gretchen's reaction and additional commentary results in more questions than answers, but one thing is for sure, Kiki wasn't lying. Yet, according to Katie, she and Matt were asked to do just that to "hold the line and protect Gretchen" which means she knowingly threw Kiki under the bus. Shannon and Tamra make up and hope to move forward, Jen and Katie are at odds about the Gretchen rumor, Jen is still eager to confront Tamra about the photo she showed Heather, Shannon annoys everyone by always being late, Emily and Shane continue to provide rage bait, Heather keeps defending Tamra at every turn, and Gina displays stellar hosting qualities.TIMESTAMPS:EP 4 recap = Start - 13:44minEP 6 = 13:44 - 42:31EP7 = 42:31 - EndAll opinions are personal and not representative of any outside company, person, or agenda. Things can seem surreal when insurrectionists and murderers roam free, as those determined to uphold the law are fired, and throwing a sandwich gets you a felony...and a place in history. As more National Guard troops flood into Washington D.C. under the guise of tackling crime, we review the alleged beat-down heard 'round the world when a DOGE staffer with a nickname of "Big Balls" said he got jumped by pre-teens at 3am. Also, Texas and California continue to angle for gerrymandered seats in Congress, more Heritage Foundation bros appointed to positions of power, RFK Jr. continues to make the world worse, and Putin gets greeted like a got a one-on-one date on The Bachelor. There's nothing like finding out a good friend started a show you're deep into so as soon as Kiki Monique/@thetalkofshame got caught up, we dove into our thoughts about the season and its climactic finale. Focusing on a handful of families, each inspired by real former dynasties, it's a historical drama that unfolds at the convergence of old and new money. Being about New York City high society in the late 1880's, it also takes the opportunity to address the inequality and injustices of the time while showing the importance of women, minorities, and working class Americans engaged in the ongoing fight for their rights. The final episode of Season 2 reveals why no amount of reunions would bridge the gap in perceptions for several cast members. Whether it's divorcing couples, former best friends, or people who feel passionately about Danny's behavior when drinking, this reunion made it clear that some cast members are not able to move on. Janet makes additional allegations and seems indifferent to Nia's point about the harm her focus on Danny could do which ends with two very pregnant women, Kristen and Nia, shouting as Janet smirks. It's an ironic twist after last year's plotlines of Janet being pregnant and avoiding anything upsetting. We also learned how close of a friend Zach had been to Brittany's ex at one time, which helped to explain the levels of animosity they now have for one another. A highlight was seeing Andy "scold" Jesse for having his girlfriend come to the end of the last cast event where her presence resulted in drama, but still not agree to film. Overall, it was a meandering but sometimes satisfying end to the season. A woman stuck on a tarmac downloads 'Book Lovers' and falls down a rabbit hole into the delightful romcom realm of Emily Henry's witty banter, heartfelt storylines, and endearing characters. The second reunion installment tests the limits of rage bait spewed from stunted men. After a solid 18min of Jax making excuses, wallowing in self pity, and shamelessly fishing for compliments, Jesse begins his own display of delusion against Michelle in his hideous, Grandma-couch-print polyester pants. Jason stands by his bestie, Janet holds onto her issues with Kristin and Zach, and Britney continues to walk the line, and stoke the fires, between multiple friendships. Kristin and Luke discuss options to becoming parents as Nia and Danny debate a fourth baby while getting a consultation for the "mommy makeover" Nia wants. The 19th season of the original HW franchise kicks off by refreshing our memories of multiple issues from last season, too many of which involve Katie and her Bravo "blogger" besties. As Trump and Elon continue their online slap fight, we stay focused on the massive tax bill that will take from the working class to provide an astronomical budget for ICE and border patrol, along with tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy. From eliminating loan options for the already burdensome endeavor of pursuing higher education in America, to ensuring a sharp decline in Medicaid eligibility, the effects of this bill will be felt for generations. While Pam Bondi's DOJ continues its pursuit of Kilmar Abrego Garcia and declares the Epstein files nonexistent, we take a moment to learn about her colleague, Emil Bove, and the whistleblower case about him. With details continuing to emerge about the deadly floods across central Texas, meteorologists point out where the failure to warn people on the ground seems to have happened. This review of Careless People by Facebook/Meta whistleblower, Sarah Wynn-Williams, covers Chapters 43-48, plus the Epilogue. The book's final pages bring to life the devastating reality of how "careless people" at the helm of an unchecked platform can negatively impact the entire world, leaving civil unrest, hate crimes, acts of terrorism, and even a genocide, in its wake. Multiple horrors seem to unfold in Sarah's final months of employment. She describes a rushed an incomplete investigation into the ongoing sexual harassment from her boss, Joel Kaplan, that clears him of any wrongdoing, learning about targeted advertising strategies aimed at teens in distress, and the terror of watching bigotry and misinformation take hold in Myanmar while being unable to stop it. The proposal episode feels like a romcom with its heartfelt moments amidst Luke's nerves, Zach's stress, and Nia's efforts to make sure Kristen showers and dresses up. Their careful planning pays off and Detective Doute is completely surprised and shocked by a beautiful and emotional moment. Things take an unexpected turn as Janet's initial reaction is disdain that her vacation away from her baby has been centered around Kristin's engagement, while also deciding to remove herself from gatherings to prioritize Kristin's moment devoid of negativity. Brittany is crestfallen to learn that she was left out of planning, and fishin', as Zach feels the sting of her party planning feedback. Chapters 38-43 are covered in this review of the whistleblowing book by former Facebook/Meta insider, Sarah Wynn-Williams. As the group prepares for a trip to Maui, they attempt to squash issues by utilizing tactics that range from a life coach to a famous Mexican restaurant. As the boyz touch chests and stare into each other's eyes, the women yell expletives over a margarita machine. Luke deals with the stress of executing a surprise for Detective Doute while also navigating emotions about his grandmother's illness, relying on Danny and Nia to act as the trip's organizers. Unfortunately, this episode focuses on Jax. We witness his first haircut, botox session, and boyz noight out after being released from treatment, all while lamenting about not yet seeing his son despite not contacting the mother of his child. A party for Zach's boyfriend Benji provides an opportunity for Jax to reintroduce himself to the group and massage the narrative that he's doing great, never had a problem with drinking or drugs, and is instead focusing on an anger problem. Zach's lack of respect or reverence for Jax is a highlight and fun to watch after all the cowering and deference from every other man on the show. An episode filled with hatchet burying and blade sharpening. The major event being that Brittney finally files divorce papers one day before Jax's release, and we all breathe a sign of relief. The J-trio of Janet, Jason, and Jasmine, plus Melissa, mend their friendship wound by shifting blame onto Kristen, a choice that will no doubt have consequences. Jason and Janet's profound disappointment with Jasmine over the ring rumor takes center stage as the three J's meet up with the group for a beach bonfire where their friendship goes up in flames. Accusations that Jasmine made up the rumor take the discussion sideways, and after Jasmine reaches a boiling point, we all witness Janet get roasted alongside the group's S'mores. Zach and Kristen tell Britney she holds them to a higher standard than Janet, Danny and Nia continue to debate moving and having another child as we learn how ripped Danny is, and Sheana & Brock go to great lengths, and girths, to demonstrate their value. A special T.A.C.O. Tuesday episode that starts with drama concerning a rapidly aging incontinent man who can't grow facial hair or dodge a punch, before shifting to concerns about increased data collection, MAHA's AI hallucinations, why communications from the CDC were a good thing, and Pam Bondi v the ADA (if performed by Jennifer Coolidge). Then, we shift to cover a Fyre fest inspired meme coin dinner, the value of Job Corps, and more denials of due process as communities unite to object. Additionally we delve into Ukraine's 'Operation Spiderwebs', the National Science Foundation, free classes at Harvard, and details about a slew of recent presidential pardons, including for Todd and Julie Chrisley.Find your representatives at USA.GOV and/or the "5 Calls" app and contact them, often. All opinions are personal and not representative of any outside company, person, or agenda. A recap of Chapters 27-32. As the company formerly known as Facebook and now known as Meta gets bolder when dealing with world-wide government regulation, author Sarah Wynn-Williams recounts her efforts to caution executives about the repercussions of capitalizing on inflammatory campaign ads and misinformation. While pregnant with her second child, she's faced with new challenges that range from having one boss pressure her to share a bed as another emails her about a lewd sex act, all while she tries in vain to continue to "lean in". When more staff members are left to pay the price for negligent practices, she finally comes to the realization that she has to leave the company, but a traumatic birth in the developed country with the highest maternal mortality rate leaves her physically and mentally depleted. These chapters also recount Facebook's ill-fated attempts to implement internet.org, fly a drone, and partner with SpaceX to launch a satellite. Danny is the focus of this episode where we see a different side of Jason confront him and put their close friendship in peril to do so, before he finally sits down with Jasmine and Melissa to learn more about why they were so disturbed by his actions on Halloween. Kristen comes to the aid of Danny and Nia by sharing a rumor that alludes to Jason not being so perfect, and that rumor kicks off a whole new beef between Kristen and Janet. Brittany's effort to let Jax see Cruz while still in treatment backfires when he tells her that he's going to lease a condo and when she learns that he hadn't been paying their mortgage. The recap of Chapters 19-26 covers Facebook's 2015 journey to Davos for the World Economic Forum (WEF) where author Sarah Wynn-Williams describes the various ways in which wealthy participants flexed their importance while lamenting the state of humanity. As she continues to get Mark opportunities to meet with world leaders and speak at United Nations events, she learns about a new desire for Facebook to ingratiate themselves into the campaign efforts of politicians around the globe. She describes Facebook's tax deferment practice, referred to as the "double Irish", and explains a major effort to recruit new users disguised as altruism, internet.org, and the valid concerns that led to it being rebranded as Free Basics. Throughout, she continues to share stories that enlighten us further about the kinds of people and motivations that built Meta, and her realization that any hope for them to make the world a better place was futile. The group's last night in Santa Barbara turns into a confrontation of Nia and Danny about whether they made separate efforts to conceal his drinking. When Danny awakens, he finds Nia in a maelstrom of criticism and doubt, one that continues to churn throughout the episode due to Janet and Jasmine's concerns. Kristen and Luke show us their new rental home and discuss plans for the future as Luke shops for a ring. Brittany organizes a dinner for the ladies to apologize to Nia, where they learn the heartbreaking origins of why it's her instinct to try to see the positive side of things...an emotional moment that still doesn't appease everyone. The Santa Barbara trip picks up the morning after their explosive healing circle with Jesse again dedicating his day to drinking, apparently leaning in to his "let the games begin" mentality. The omen of a broken party bus won't deter the group from making it to a wine tasting where Jesse asks Michelle to talk - but offers no apology for the billionaire rumor. As things erupt between them, Michelle spills grievances and accusations about their finances, along with shared issues of distrust and suspicion. The trip to Santa Barbara kicks off with tension between Michelle and Jesse but hopes for Brittany to have a fun and peaceful time while Jax is away - hopes that are dashed as he begins rage texting while they're en route. Kristen and Luke organize a racecar outing and a healing circle as the trip's host, Jesse, begins drinking and focuses on either complaining about Michelle or putting in effort to irritate her. Jason's disappointing behavior when Jesse talks down to Janet means Luke now stands alone as the only man to not engage in scandal or choose bros over his partner. This week brought more headaches for former Fox (Entertainment) "News" host turned Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. Amidst whispers of chaos at the Pentagon, Pete ranted about the media on the White House lawn as attendees enjoyed a holiday dedicated to a risen savior by rolling expensive eggs and learning about corporate sponsorships. As more Federal agencies and jobs are dismantled, a whistleblower submitted a report on DOGE's concerning activity to remove sensitive data. Meanwhile, Harvard became the first major university to refuse to comply with administration demands, setting off a chaotic but amusing game of chicken. Senator Chris Van Hollen of Maryland made good on his promise to go to El Salvador and try to get Kilmar Abrego Garcia out of CECOT, speaking with him under supervision and with shameless efforts to sway the optics of their meeting. The judicial branch is still fighting back, with one judge moving forward to hold the administration in contempt for violating his order, and with the Supreme Court at a crossroads in the hell of their own making. Through it all, RFK Jr. continues to remind people why no one should listen to him - ever. Also, a bunch of women in skin tight bodysuits and glam went high up in the air in a rocket shaped like a penis and got upset when no one thought it was cool. The Season 2 premier starts with an alarming update as viewers are brought into the aftermath of an alarming fight between Jax and Britney, one bad enough to result in everyone encouraging him to seek professional help. Then, we flashback to a week prior and see Britney's efforts to find her own place within the friend group, and the world, independent of Jax. Jesse and Michelle navigate contentious divorce proceedings and co-parenting drama as they both establish new relationships. Kristin and Luke are still focused on starting a family - and standing by Kristin's comments revealing Janet's rumored conversations about Michelle from last season. Now that Janet has had her baby, she wants to mend the issues with Kristin, but still has it out for Zach. The last segment of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Reunion is a meeting that could have been an email. Beyond seeing Garcelle pushed to her limits, the conversations ruminate on mostly tired topics, save for new crumbs of information from Kyle about Mo - per her tried and true formula to dangle the possibility of progress at the very end of a stalemate storyline. Dorit finds joy in exhaustively berating Sutton as Boz chimes in to support her new bestie's endeavors, Erika publicly states that Tom Girardi is incompetent, Sutton can't break free from the trap of seeking clique-acceptance, and the additions of Kathy/Jennifer Tilly continue to provide much needed comedic relief. The summary of yet another chaotic week kicks off by acknowledging the testimonies of Liz Oyer and Rachel Cohen, both of whom have been mentioned previously for standing up to pressures from the administration in their own ways. From there, we cover the impact of losing CDC and DOJ personnel, Project 2025's warped progress, how more "loyalists" are showing their fealty, the SAVE Act's pink poll tax, and blowback from placing steep tariffs on China. However, most news pales in comparison to the significance of Kilmar Abrego Garcia still not being returned from a maximum security prison for terrorists in El Salvador after being mistakenly sent there - and the added enthusiasm that U.S. citizens deemed "monsters" could be next.Find your representative's contact info at USA.GOVAll opinions are personal and not representative of any outside company, person, or agenda. This pod is an outlet to vent after watching Real Housewives of Atlanta where Brit seemingly faced no network consequences for trying to intimidate and/or threaten a cast member by talking about having a weapon - and then watching a ridiculous ending to a slow paced, multi-season Yellowstone prequel. Kenya absolutely went too far, however it was odd to not see swift action to check a cast member for bringing up weapons at all, and that Kenya's prepared remarks and displays were a complete surprise to producers. Then, I loosely summarize the plot of Yellowstone 1923, a show whose last bundle of episodes were riddled with extreme violence towards its women characters. My rant on the show focuses on writer/creator Taylor Sheridan's choice to continue that trend and end the series with a grand display of senseless loss felt less like an attempt to relay life's harsh realities and more like emphatic overkill. Yellowstone 1923 rant starts at 28:46 and is FULL OF SPOILERSAll opinions are personal and not representative of any outside company, person, or agenda. The whistleblowing book written by former Facebook executive Sarah Wynn-Williams is as explosive and shocking as expected, maybe more so. The author reveals personal stories that shaped her world-view and explains her conviction and hope to use her life to affect positive change. That same hope led her to pursue a career at a social technology company she seemingly envisioned as a champion for humanity. From there, she takes us with her into executive level meetings, haphazard trips abroad, and interactions with various staff that each provide startling enlightenment into the inner workings of a company with access to sensitive information about people around the globe. Due to revelations within this book, U.S. Senators are currently looking into Facebook's alleged collusion with foreign governments. Sutton and Kyle are the main focuses of Part 2 as Dorit laments how each offended her, or let her down, throughout the season, as Erika and/or Boz nod approvingly throughout. After a lengthy and exhaustive back and forth, Kyle finally apologizes for her combative stance about texting PK with a pledge of loyalty. Sutton gets chided by everyone for daring to flex her wealth in the "wallet" comment heard 'round the caviar tasting. Dorit unleashes a self-righteous tirade on Sutton, doling out smugly stated life lessons between low blows. Kathy and Jennifer Tilly join the group and continue to bring a much needed dose of comedy and positivity into an otherwise bleak environment. From the nationwide Hands Off Protest, where over 5 million people made their voices heard, to a whiney billionaire realizing the limits of his wealth and influence, and a record-breaking speech before the Senate, this past chaotic week had a silver lining. With a new/old tariff policy in effect, the country is re-learning why taxing our allies and largest import partners alike isn't great for the economy, no matter what an invisible man thinks. Meanwhile, we continue to see libraries, museums, art, government websites, education departments, and public broadcast channels targeted for censorship and revisionist history as U.S. residency and citizenship are marketed Willy Wonka style via a golden ticket.
