Once the closest thing to a town in the lands beyond The Wall, something terrible and mysterious befell Hardhome about 600 years ago. It has since become an overgrown ruin, shunned and considered accursed… Yet despite that, it is suddenly important again - as hordes of refugees flee there, following the dreams of a woods witch. As reports reach Jon of wights in the woods and waters, dreams reach Melisandre of an impossibly cold mist turning the Free Folk into skulls. What the heck happened all those years ago? And what the heck is happening there now? Could this be how the Others get their army? Head to factormeals.com/westeros50 and use code westeros50 to get 50% off. Winter is here and the guys are smoking out Westeros as we talk Game of Thrones all month long! In the last episode of our Winter is Coming Game of Thrones month-long extravaganza, the guys discuss season 5, episode 8 Hardhome. But first in what way were the guys similar spirits across the states? Would the rapper Bonecrusher make a good Game of Thrones character? Do we hate Olly? Was this Cody's sister's first episode of Game of Thrones? How many books still need to be written? Would Anthony rather have anybody else than Jake or Cody as his Hand of the King? Do we hate the Sparrows? What do they call zombie Mountain in the book? What advantage do the White Walkers have? What do we learn in this episode is a weakness of the White Walkers? What comic book movie did the actor who played The Night King appear in? Could we be dragon riders? Whose claim to the throne would we support? Does Daenerys do lots of good in Essos? Do we wish we could have seen Jon Snow and Daenerys' relationship fleshed out more? What song should be made into a haunted version for this episode? Is Tim Robinson one of the biggest names in comedy now? Is there The Night King and The Night's King in the book? Was The Night King's death a terrible end to the White Walkers? Can the wheel be broken without violence? What would happen if Mister Softee fought Jon Snow? Who would win in a fight: The Night King or Sub-Zero? We see Tyrion convince Dany to let him advise her and spare Joah's life, Arya takes on a new persona, and Cersei remains defiant AF....If you haven't already, please to subscribe to the audio version of the podcast on all your favorite podcast platforms...If you want to keep the fun going with us throughout the week, come join our Facebook group.JOIN THE WATCH DEM THRONES FACEBOOK GROUPhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/126567443834910/?ref=share&mibextid=NSMWBTTO WATCH AND SUBSCRIBE:Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/blackwithnochaser/Twitter:https://twitter.com/BeBlackNoChaser?t=pVFV06lBFdZRu72ot4uCjA&s=09Twitter:https://twitter.com/WatchDemThrones?t=q0ngrYPlugf0ttzM2jo39A&s=09Apple Music: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/watch-dem-thrones-by-black-with-no-chaser/id1641754247Spotify:https://open.spotify.com/show/1qI1bJ1vIlobu502w6zrtN?si=mtsa3gZYRZW_3FmlCrv7UgBWNC RADIO: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/bwnc-radio/id6443800363Amazon Musichttps://music.amazon.com/podcasts/45279c3a-c09f-47d1-a3a3-88e6e2507230/watch-dem-thrones-by-black-with-no-chaserIHeartRadiohttps://www.iheart.com/podcast/269-watch-dem-thrones-by-black-101286659/?cmp=android_share&sc=android_social_share&pr=false#gameofthrones #demdragons #blackwithnochaser #houseofthedragonhbo #dragonseeds #theblacks #thegreens #houseofthedragon #youtube #targaryens #podcast #podsincolor #applemusic #spotifymusic #podsincolor #starks #lannisters #Velaryon
In the episode, Brienne of Tarth and Podrick Payne attempt to make contact with Sansa Stark. In Meereen, Daenerys Targaryen clashes with the nobles of Meereen following Barristan Selmy's death, but later agrees to marry Hizdahr zo Loraq. In Old Valyria, Tyrion Lannister and Jorah Mormont are attacked by stone men. At the Wall, Stannis Baratheon prepares to leave Castle Black and march on Winterfell, and Jon Snow frees Tormund from captivity so that he can lead Jon to the wildling camp at Hardhome. The name of the episode comes from a piece of advice Maester Aemon gives Jon, to "kill the boy" and "let the man be born".If you haven't already, please to subscribe to the audio version of the podcast on all your favorite podcast platforms...If you want to keep the fun going with us throughout the week, come join our Facebook group.JOIN THE WATCH DEM THRONES FACEBOOK GROUPhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/126567443834910/?ref=share&mibextid=NSMWBTTO WATCH AND SUBSCRIBE:Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/blackwithnochaser/Twitter:https://twitter.com/BeBlackNoChaser?t=pVFV06lBFdZRu72ot4uCjA&s=09Twitter:https://twitter.com/WatchDemThrones?t=q0ngrYPlugf0ttzM2jo39A&s=09Apple Music: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/watch-dem-thrones-by-black-with-no-chaser/id1641754247Spotify:https://open.spotify.com/show/1qI1bJ1vIlobu502w6zrtN?si=mtsa3gZYRZW_3FmlCrv7UgBWNC RADIO: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/bwnc-radio/id6443800363Amazon Musichttps://music.amazon.com/podcasts/45279c3a-c09f-47d1-a3a3-88e6e2507230/watch-dem-thrones-by-black-with-no-chaserIHeartRadiohttps://www.iheart.com/podcast/269-watch-dem-thrones-by-black-101286659/?cmp=android_share&sc=android_social_share&pr=false#gameofthrones #demdragons #blackwithnochaser #houseofthedragonhbo #dragonseeds #theblacks #thegreens #houseofthedragon #youtube #targaryens #podcast #podsincolor #applemusic #spotifymusic #podsincolor #starks #lannisters #Velaryon

We've made it to another gangbusters episode. Arguably one of the two biggest episodes of the entire show, not to mention that this is probably the only season of the show where the penultimate and final episodes are of equal caliber in terms of how awesome they are. "Battle of the Bastards" still remains arguably the most technically proficient episodes of the entire show, with Miguel Sapochnik & DP Fabian Wagner returning to show that their work with last season's "Hardhome" was not a fluke. The episode famously covers Jon's battle against Ramsay Bolton to reclaim Winterfell as well as Daenerys returning to Meereen and finally using the dragons to their full extent. It's an action packed episode filled with suspence and amazing payoffs, but obviously the star of the episode is the full spectacle that's on display, with Sapochnik brilliantly demonstrating the literal pressure felt by Jon as he's almost killed at least 3 different times throughout the course of the battle. It's another action packed episode of Talkin' Thrones, and we wrap up Season 6 next week! We're almost at the end of yet another season! It's been a real chore beginning the track of the second half of the show, but at the very least I can say that Season 5 goes out on a high note. It's yet another penultimate episode, which are always fun to cover for this show. This one is entitled "The Dance of Dragons" after both the fifth and most recent book in the Song of Ice & Fire source material as well as the ancient Targaryen civil war between Aegon II Targaryen and his sister Rhaenyra over their father Viserys I's throne. This penultimate functions a little differently than previous ones, with previous penultimate episodes focusing on either a series of events that build up to a tragic betrayal resulting in death or a battle sequence that takes place in one location across the entire episode. This one instead opts to focus as more of a transition between the action packed Hardhome and the jam packed finale next week. Jon arrives back at the Wall with the remainder of the Wildling survivors and after a tense standoff, witnesses the fruit of his labor in his alienation of the Night's Watch. In Braavos, Arya attempts to carry out her first major assignment, but instead is distracted by the arrival of Meryn Trant, one of the few survivors so far from her kill list, putting her in a dangerous position. In Dorne, Jaime negotiates with Prince Doran for Myrcella's return to King's Landing, in a disappointing and unfulfilling end to a storyline that could have been awesome and was clearly setting up to play a bigger part in the story going forward. In the North, Ramsay's attack leaves Stannis' forces crippled, forcing him to make a terrible choice. In Meereen, Daenerys oversees the beginning of the Great Games in the Fighting pits. Tune in next week for our discussion of the Season 5 finale, and be sure to keep tuning in every Friday for more new episodes of Talkin' Thrones, only on the #talkintvpodcast --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/talkintvpodcastgmailcom/support
Alright, this one's a big one, the biggest one we've done in a while. We've been building up to this one for the whole season, and rightfully so, because this episode is ultimately the one that determines the course of the rest of the show, Season 5, Episode 8 "Hardhome," rightfully named after the devastating battle that takes place when the White Walkers unexpectedly attack and brutally massacre most of the Wildling forces in the first true demonstration of their power. Miguel Sapochnik's action directing skills are put on full display here, as Jon's arrival to treat with the Wildlings is interrupted when they come under attack by the army of the dead. It's an event that was only briefly mentioned in the book, but it's put on full display here, as the first of a couple surprise battles that would demonstrate the show's much increased action budget was now on the level of most movies. Hell, they're still making memes about the Night King's final resurrection of all the dead wildlings along the shore. Elsewhere, Cersei is made to confess but refuses, Arya is given her first assignment by the Faceless Men, Sansa forces Theon to reveal the truth, Sam tries to reassure Olly and Tyrion barters for Daenerys' favor. It's all covered every Friday all the way up until the finale only on the #talkintvpodcast --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/talkintvpodcastgmailcom/support
We're past the halfway point and almost at the end of yet another season! Hard to believe we've already almost completed 5 seasons of this show! That just shows the power of this show, even at its worst, which this season easily has been. But we have a special episode to cover here, Season 5, Episode 7, entitled "The gift," because this marks the directorial debut of Miguel Sapochnik, arguably the most influential director to come out of this half of the show as his handling of the major battle sequences that take place in the following episode "Hardhome" as well as his work on Season 6's "The Battle of the Bastards" and "The Winds of Winter" would set a new precedent for action filmmaking across the spectrum. Here we only have the setup of things to come, with a whole lot of holdover as Jon & Tormund leave the Wall in order to go north to Hardhome and bring the Wildling forces south of the Wall. Elsewhere, Sam & Gilly finally consumate their long gestating feelings for each other, Stannis feels the inevitability of his situation, Sansa attempts to escape Winterfell but puts her trust in the wrong person, Cersei finally suffers the consequences of her actions, and Tyrion & Jorah finally reach their destination. It's all covered in another episode of #talkinthrones right here on the #talkintvpodcast --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/talkintvpodcastgmailcom/support

Oh man, people, we've crossed the Rubicon. We're officially at the point where Game of Thrones transitions from being great to just...meh. Season 5 is such an interesting conundrum, because some of the best, most awesome moments of the entire show happen this season. The Dragonpit attack, Shireen's tragic death, Davos' speech to Jon, and of course, the real turning point of the show, Hardhome. It signifies a drastic upshift in the production, and a severe downshift in the storytelling, as this is the last season based on any of the books, in fact not one, but two books, both of which portray several different events happening at the same time, A Feast for Crows & a Dance of Dragons. Benioff & Weiss' decision to merge a lot of the major events from both books into one while leaving certain events out for next season is an odd one that proves more and more baffling as the years go on, as the consensus that Dom & Pat come to being that this season, while having some incredible moments, is ultimately streamlined in favor of rushing the story towards its conclusion, a decision that would haunt the legacy of the show and leave this season feeling very rushed and unfulfilled in hindsight. That being said, this episode does an incredible job of setting up the conflicts of the next two seasons, as we're introduced to two major antagonists that will face Cersei & Daenerys, with the Sparrows in King's Landing & the Sons of the Harpy in Meereen. We also get some major context around Cersei, Jon is given an ultimatum by Stannis, Sansa & Littlefinger leave the Vale and Varys offers Tyrion a new place. On tonight's episode of Talkin' Thrones, we've got a major episode here as we discuss the penultimate episode of Season 2, the first MAJOR action set piece episode that takes place entirely in one setting, the first battle of the show that we actually got to see onscreen, it's Blackwater time! This was a game changer back when it aired in 2012, because if truly was the first cinematic onscreen battle in television history with a real budget, real special effects, and one hell of a conclusionary arc for the season. Directed by Neil Marshall, who also went on to direct "The Watchers on the Wall" and the second episode written by series scribe George R. R. Martin, follows Stannis Baratheon's attack on King's Landing via Blackwater bay and Tyrion Lannister's attempts to hold him off. While it may pale in comparison to later spectacle based episodes like the White Walker attack in Hardhome or the Battle of the Bastards, it was still the first true display of this show's power, and it did not disappoint. Dom & Pat recap all the major events that happen in this battle, and in particular have a lot of fun talking about Cersei's suicidal rants, the beginnings of Sansa's growth into a leader, and their focus character, Sandor "The Hound" Clegane, who undergoes a major turning point of his own here. It was a jam packed episode, but you can catch it all here, only on the #talkintvpodcast --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/talkintvpodcastgmailcom/support

"The long night is coming and then dead come with it" Ominous words from Jon Snow as things start to heat up in the last portion of Season 5 Game of Thrones. Maester Aemon's watch comes to an end, Ser Davos tries to convince Stannis that the time is not right to strike Winterfell, Melisandre insists it can be done with a certain....... sacrifice. Meanwhile Sam Tarly becomes a man for the very first time, Jorah and Tyrion are sold into the fighting pits and Olenna meets her match of wits in the High Sparrow. In Dorne, Bronn is deadly close to a "Long Farewell" while Price Doran and Jaime Lannister negotiate terms for Myrcella's future. Cersei is imprisoned in King's Landing, Sansa learns the truth about Bran and Rickon and Ramsay tells his father to hit Stannis while his guard is down "Hit first, hit hard and leave a feast for the crows". Daenerys over in Mereen tells Tyrion " I'm not going to stop the wheel, I'm going to break the wheel" which Tyrion calls a good dream, but in the North there is a Nightmare at Hardhome when Jon Snow and Tormund attempt to rally the wildlings. Brienne finally gets her original justice, while Arya gets justice of her own in the form of Meryn Trant. Varys makes his first appearance in Mereen since Jorah kidnapped Tyrion, Cersei talks a brutal walk and a certain Mountain awaits her at the end. At The Wall, Jon receives a glimmer of hope about his Uncle Benjen until he comes to a stabbing realization. Join the Riddikulus crew on our continuous journey through the Seven Kingdoms and beyond! Game of Thrones never fails to have an eventful episode 9 and season 6's The Battle of the Bastards was no exception. On this week's The Cast Beyond the Wall, Daniel, Austin, and myself break down the highly anticipated battle sequence and whether or not it lives up to some of the other series climactic battles. Jon Snow has seen white walkers at Hardhome, defended the Wall outmatched a hundred to one, and even been brought back from the dead, but that doesn't make him any less a Stark. Leading up to the Battle, Jon scrapes together a strategy and ignores Sansa's advice not to go into battle. Sansa on the other hand continues to withhold the crucial info about Petyr Baelish's armies from the Eerie. Have Ramsey and Littlefinger compromised the elder Stark or was this just a rookie mistake? Despite the title of the episode, this week also featured the biggest set piece we've ever seen in Mereen. Danerys rides Drogon and decimates entire ships from The Masters' fleet while Dario leads a full fledged ground assault with the Dothraki horde. Following the flawless victory, Theon and Yara Greyjoy arrive and request independence for the Iron Islands if they support her claim. We take a moment to discuss the issues with the season's continued abbreviation, particularly as it relates to Mereen. Has Dany's time to cross the Narrow Sea FINALLY come? For the sake of my sanity, let's hope so. The Battle of the Bastards may contain not just one, but two of the finest action set pieces the series has ever seen, but I make the case that it lacks the magical secret sauce that makes Game of Thrones special. Austin and Daniel on the other hand were enamored by the undeniably impressive spectacle.

On this episode Dominic and Ciaran discuss the game changing episode "Hardhome." They discuss the ways in which this episode has completely redefined what the series is about. Also the equally important conversations between Tyrion and Dany. Plus Theon vs Reek, Cersei's imprisonment, and we we're worried about Olly. All this and much more!
After a season light world breaking events, this week's episode of Game of Thrones, Hardhome delivered one of the biggest moments in the history of the show so far. The wait for winter is over and the White Walkers have finally arrived in truly terrifying fashion to slaughter what's left of the Wildling army. The Cast Beyond the Wall is here to discuss this game-changing defeat by the elusive Night's King and how it reframes the story of the entire series so far. Before getting to the titular event, we talk about the hotly anticipated pairing of Tyrion and Daenerys in Mereen. The two deliver a couple of the best scenes so far this season and we take a moment to try and unpack their dynamics. Hardhome also takes a moment to catch up with Arya in Braavos as she prepares to take on her first assignment from the Faceless Men. We try to decide if she's ready to go full Batman after months of training in The House of Black and White. We also take a moment to discuss Sansa's discovery of the truth about Bran and Rickon. After being beaten up by the monstrous Ramsey Bolton all season, she's finally starting to discover the drive she'll need to survive the trials she ahead. Theon may be broken beyond repair, but after learning the truth about her family it looks like she's about to become stronger than ever. We go in depth into every scene of what is undoubtedly the best episode of the season so far. Does it top some of the biggest moments from the Red Wedding, Battle of Blackwater, or Purple Wedding?
