Beyond the Scale: Christian Podcast on True Transformation and Faith-Based FitnessWe all know someone who looks “difficult” on the surface—loud, late, defensive, maybe even carrying a chip on their shoulder. In this episode of the Build Different Podcast, I (Drew Cost) share the story of a client who seemed that way at first… until I sat down with her 1:1.Behind the walls, she had a powerful testimony: losing over 100 pounds, surviving an ugly divorce, moving to a brand-new state, and fighting the fear of losing all the progress she worked so hard for. This conversation isn't just about fitness—it's about faith, inner healing, and true transformation. Because change is always deeper than the number on the scale.00:00 – Introduction: More Than FitnessWhy transformation has to go beyond the surface.01:12 – The Story Behind a “Difficult Client”First impressions aren't always the full story.03:45 – Over 100 Pounds Lost, But Still AfraidThe truth about fear, weight loss, and maintaining results.06:18 – Transformation Beyond the ScaleHow fitness ties into faith, healing, and identity.09:22 – What People Are Really Carrying InsideWhy external results can never replace inner transformation.12:40 – Faith + Fitness as a LifestyleHow to pursue health that strengthens both body and spirit.15:00 – Final Takeaway and EncouragementPractical wisdom to carry into your own transformation journey. If you've ever struggled with your body image, battled fear of failure, or wondered if change will “stick,” you're not alone. Real transformation isn't just about losing weight—it's about what you're carrying inside. This is why I believe in faith-based fitness coaching: when you build your body and spirit together, you gain confidence that lasts, strength that sustains, and peace that no scale can measure. If this episode resonated with you, here's the main way to go deeper:

They swap stories about Astro Bot, College Football 25, and the glory days of the Nintendo 64—plus the joy (and noise) of a PS4. But it's not all fun and games. The conversation shifts to a deeper discussion around The Ridge's brand-new series, “I Might Have a Problem.” This week's message focused on the often-overlooked connection between faith and physical health. Josh shares candidly about his own history with the infamous “Fizzinator” and years of Mountain Dew-fueled lawn mowing, tying it all into a powerful call to reflect on how we steward our bodies. Today, I am delighted to connect with a personal friend and colleague, Todd Durkin. Todd is the CEO and Co-founder of Impact-X Performance, a fitness and coaching franchise featuring faith, fitness, recovery, and life coaching, and he motivates and inspires people daily through his inspirational keynote speeches, books, podcasts, and franchise. Todd and I went to middle school together, so our conversation today is personal in addition to being inspirational. We explore the role of faith and family, looking at the benefits of sports, the importance of vision boards, the value of motivation, and transforming passion into purpose. Todd also discusses his philosophy, which centers on mindset, habits, and routine, shares his evening and morning routines, offers his take on big, hairy, audacious goals, and explains why challenges and adversity are crucial for growth. Todd is one of the most inspiring, thoughtful, and intentional voices on social media today, and I have no doubt you will find this conversation as valuable as I did. IN THIS EPISODE YOU WILL LEARN: Being raised in a blue-collar town shaped Todd's values. Significance of having a strong sense of family and community The challenges Todd faced led to his personal growth Role of faith and divine guidance in overcoming challenges Morning and nighttime routines, quiet time, journaling, and prayer Addressing mental health issues and supporting others who are struggling How coaches and mentors help people grow and achieve their goals Why we must set big, bold, and exciting goals and continuously challenge ourselves Todd shares his philosophy on winning each day and overcoming personal struggles How champions get made during tough times Connect with Cynthia Thurlow Follow on X Instagram LinkedIn Check out Cynthia's website Submit your questions to support@cynthiathurlow.com Connect with Todd Durkin On his website Instagram and other social media: @ToddDurkin
In SESSION ONE of this new series, Wade discusses what prompted him to make changes in his diet, fitness, spiritual practices, and daily schedule in order to improve his health and lifestyle. Since losing a lot of weight over the past year, many have asked why he has been doing so and how he has been doing it. This series will talk about that, but also hopefully focus more broadly on the relationship between faith, fitness, and fellowship in formation. We hope you enjoy the series and this episode! In today's episode, Matthew Gay, creator of Fit Church United, joins me as we discuss the physical health needs of the church and ways to implement what the Bible says about health into daily life. A lot of Bible references are mentioned in this episode, and I realize many listening may not share the same biblical values and principles. It's certainly not a typical Digest This interview, but it may interest you because this topic isn't discussed enough in today's society. Many people in the church struggle with living a healthy lifestyle, and Matthew shares ways we can be a light in our communities to help influence change in our groups and personal lives. We talk about whether eating meat is prohibited, what the Daniel Diet actually is, and how you can apply biblical principles to your own health journey. I think this was an interesting take on health and fitness—one that could provide the motivation you need to jumpstart your healthy journey. Topics Discussed: The health of our potential military men Back to basics with health What the Bible says about food How to implement a healthy lifestyle in the church Tips to help others not struggle Getting accountability in your health journey The Daniel Diet Fasting Tips to make a healthy change in your church, community, and home As always, if you have any questions for the show please email us at digestthispod@gmail.com.
